I don’t mind if updates are late, but the lack of any kind of update (i.e. “sorry we had a problem, patch eta ~2 hours”) bothers me a little.
i don’t know if i wanted to be forced to buy skins on the tp instead of in game, but i want a pve locker exactly alike the pvp one. the pvp locker is even beautiful to look at^^
Agreed. I want a PvP locker for PvE, unlocked per character. I don’t care if you make me use a stone to apply a skin.
Zenith is a step in the right direction, but it’s not enough. Just event/achievement rewards and such wouldn’t be enough. We should always be able to return to that epic skin we found or crafted, without having to re-craft/buy/grind to get it back. I find that kind of thing punishing.
I want to buy expansions to my collection tab – buy a bundle that adds collection tab spaces for the various embellished jewels for example. Another bundle that lets me store all the dowels I make working on weapons. Any intermediate component that is not used directly (and my there are a bunch of them for cooking) would be specialized storage & convenience I’d be willing to pay for.
+1 for this idea, I’d pay for that as well.
Had a problem, ranted, and found the answer. Just a small glitch in stuffs.
The problem was an important message wasn’t showing up in the chat for some reason… -.-

Just adding that I also hate Trahearne’s guts (roots? sap?). My character follows him blindly everywhere he goes, and then I still end up making all the real decisions. He’s all like, “I’m in charge. Now, tell me what to do, and I’ll take all the credit!”
It seems Anet prefers a passive observation of the suggestion forums, and so I wouldn’t expect an answer or confirmation on anything.
I do hope that periodic bumps will bring in more supporters, until we have enough that Anet considers this important enough to look into.
We won’t ever know, until it actually shows up in a patch (or never shows up), whether they even considered this idea.
Dear Anet,
Thank you for my new armors. This is exactly what I wanted from this update.
Love,
Me.p.s. Now how about them rapiers?
i need one for PvP and one for PvE… they better not be overly expensive or tucked inside RNG boxes… can’t we go back to when we earned the cool skins by playing the content? :/
I would love there to be more armor and weapon skins put directly in the game, alongside the current armors we can find/earn in game.
I think these armor skins are more like the costumes we could buy in GW1. I really wish that they would use that system again though, the thought of paying $10 for a single-use armor re-skin is…painful when compared to a $10 skin in GW1 that could be used by any character at any time, at the same time.
Dear Anet,
Thank you for my new armors. This is exactly what I wanted from this update.
Love,
Me.
p.s. Now how about them rapiers?
Please please please limit the silly. There is so much silly right now. Cute hats, squishy cute backpack covers, town clothes themselves are silly, and legendary weapons. Seriously, why should my legendary pistol look like a lost circus prop?
I would love to see more armor and weapon skins that actually fit the lore. Ideally, of course, they should be worked into the game with other skins that can be obtained normally, but I think maybe theme packs for armor and weapon skins would be an awesome purchase in the gem store.
Provided to also give us a way to store and use those skins as we please…there’s no way you missed the skin wardrobe suggestions. That’s what I want.
Not having time to read much but the OP, I’d like to add my small bit.
I love the living story idea, but am very disappointed in the overall feel of them. They often feel just a little bit rushed to make sure we have more content all the time.
While I appreciate the sentiment, I’ve found that the basic combat mechanics are very fun, which means that even between content patches I can have fun doing things already in the game (WvW, PvP, Dynamic events, bosses, dungeons). Please take the time to release meatier content and rely on the fact that the game itself is fun to keep us in the meantime.
What I would really love to see with these living story patches is the addition of weapon and armor skins from the storyline. I’m often disappointed by a new patch bringing only a crazy hat, one style of weapon skin that barely fits the lore only obtainable by RNG, or some cute backpack cover in the gemstore.
Take the Dragon Bash/Sky Pirates thing coming up. The Aetherblades have some awesome looking gear (Rapiers?? PLEASE!!). But alas, the preview only mentions getting exotic shoulder pads, a miniature, and a monocle. Cool for sure, but I’d rather wait several more months and get Sky Pirate looks (that totally fit the lore and look awesome) available for all races, as random gear drops added in at all levels of gear.

Adding my voice to yet another thread on this topic!
RNG rewards are fine, so long as they are not the only method for obtaining skins. Wintersday was great, as has been mentioned, I have no idea why that was shut down. Putting weapon skins and such in the gem store along with RNG would be fabulous.
As for RNG as a ‘goal’ for players to work for, it hardly works. I do not farm chests hoping to get tickets as my goal. I obtain all my chests just by playing the game normally, while grinding achievements or quests. My real goal is the dragon wings achievement reward. That is something that can be worked for, planned for, and actually achieved.
I got a weapon ticket in my first 30 chests. I did not feel like I accomplished anything at all. I just got lucky. A guildmate was upwards of 1000 and had nothing at all. Something to shoot for indeed…
Rise from your grave! For great justice! We need a skin wardrobe!
So I saw the new southsun content update, and was somewhat excited to jump in and see what new things there were to do.
This was my first trip to the area, and I arrived in my lvl80 thief. Two steps outside the initial outpost, I run into a lone monster. ‘no big deal’, I think, ’I’ll just pay attention and I’ll be fine’. Not so; two seconds sent me running with almost no health, I did very little damage to it, and in running away aggroed about three or four other monsters at least as powerful as the first. I immediately logged out and played something fun instead.
My overall issue with the difficulty has several parts:
1. One lone monster wandering the world (not veteran or champion) should be an easy battle for anyone. At any level. I understand keeping the combat interesting and fast paced, but come on…it’s simply not fun when you can’t kill one ‘standard’ mob. Southsun isn’t the only area I’m complaining about, it happens to me quite often in low-level areas as well thanks to dynamic level matching stuff. It seems very inconsistent too, where I can take down big, tough looking veterans in lvl 50 areas solo but have trouble taking on 3 or 4 bandits in Kessex without getting downed several times (I’m not the only one, I often rescue/get rescued by other players having a hard time as well).
2. Monsters spawn very quickly, leading to perhaps one of the things I hate most right now: Having a ‘zomg epic fight for my life’ battle to get into a small cave, and by the time I’ve harvested that node I now have to ‘zomg epic fight for my life’ my way back out. Even worse is half the baddies you’ve already killed respawning just as you land the finishing blow on the last enemy, and you’ve lost most of your health and all your escape/heal skills are on cooldown. Battles are pretty discouraging for me when they never end unless I die or manage to escape.
3. Monster groups are often too close together. With a game as mobile as this one, I am regularly forced to aggro extra groups of monsters. I’d personally rather see enemy mobs stick together more, and leave more space between them. Let me choose my battles. I’d like to be able to walk from here to there without constantly running from something.
Anyways, I have a lot more issues with GW2 and Anet on many other topics, but this is one of the main ones keeping me away at this point.
To be clear, I don’t expect or want to be able to solo the whole game. I’m fine with great rewards coming from epic battles where skill and time spent in the game are essential. I just don’t want that to be all the time, everywhere (Especially in the personal story quests…why would I want to try to find people to help me with my personal storyline?).
These are my experiences, with my opinions as to why I feel this way, so please don’t tell me I’m ‘wrong’. If you have information or advice that might help, however, I would like to hear it.
Just opened 30-40, $25 in gems- 30 keys from gem store, +random chance keys from chests themselves, got 2 tokens from it.
So…what’s your point? That the system is fine? You still spent $25 for a mere chance to get them, glad to see you got lucky. It’s still about $15 dollars more than I’d be willing to spend for just two weapon skins, especially since I don’t care about all the other stuff in the chests.
I highly doubt it. The vendors will for sure stick around for awhile, but the skins will become unavailable after the event. Gotta keep the clutter down for when they add other new skins and vendors.
The philosophy this time seems to be ‘if the player wants it they’ll have to pay more and more before it’s gone’. I kind of hope they don’t ever do this again, but it’s not like Anet to change horses in the middle of a race. They seem more like ‘Oops, we screwed that up. Ah well, we just won’t do that next time.’
I understand the whole “we can’t respond to every suggestion because making a game”, and “we’ll pass on your feedback”, but is there absolutely no communication of ideas or goals that could be passed back to the players? I’m close to just taking a six month break to see if the game (or the communication with the community) improves by then.
edit: to be clear, I mean more communication than a vague mission statement from six months ago. I’d like information on specific systems planned for the future.

Probably saving up any new skins/weapons/armors (that they don’t mind casual players also having) for real expansions.
the kind of funny thing is that it seems so out of character and against everything Anet has ever said to put most of the skins from this story in a place where few but the rich have just a chance to get them.
A set cost for a skin is something you can plan for. I can’t stand to budget $5 and maybe not get one, so I’d better drop $5 more, darn it missed again, I want that skin but it’ll go away soon here’s $20.
I will never, ever do this. But I will totally pay $5 to for sure get a skin I really like.
I don’t think having a skin should say to the rest of the community, “I have the money to waste and/or am super lucky” instead of “I have some skill and dedication”.
Not that the living stories aren’t fun (sometimes), but I feel time could be much more well spent adding in actual game improvements such as this instead of spending so much time and effort on temporary content.
What can we do to get the devs to notice us? This is already a pretty prominent thread, they must know it exists…can we at least get an acknowledgement of the suggestion? Even if it’s ‘we will never do this’, i’d like to know if suggestions are even being considered at this point.
When it comes to something like a crossbow, I think the animations required would make it hard to simply reskin a bow or rifle. Rifle would be closer, but it would still be enough difference to be it’s own item. Then again, when has any weapon cared about where the bullets come from? Just reskin a rifle and give us crossbows! The stats don’t even have to change for me to be happy.
I’d also love to see something in the way of thrusting swords, such as rapiers. Be even better if they had their own animations, but at the very least I’d like some skins!
While I agree they could just put the ticked at a certain gem price and make it non gamble, i must remind you guys going “omgz A-net so greedy ppl!” that not having a fused weapon does not impair your gameplay in any way and it was stated straight away that there will be fancy stuff for gems since day one.
I would also like to know how long the tickets will stay in chests. Ty.
While not untrue, the point isn’t that the skins cost gems. I don’t mind paying money for appearance items, I bought some in GW1. The problem is that they’re adding new content behind some pretty serious barriers that could run up the cost of a single appearance item to obscene amounts.
Yes you get other things in the chests, but they’re things I mostly don’t care enough to purchase. In other words, I’m not going to pay $20 for a lot of things I don’t care about for a chance to get something I do want. Where instead, if they charged say a couple dollars for each skin, I would likely buy several. As will many others.
Of course, I think there’s enough people out there dumping all their gems in keys that Anet has no reason to change it yet. And it may be a publisher push more than a dev one, which is tougher to deal with i guess…
+1 to this idea. +2, if I can do that sort of thing.
Also, it wouldn’t be a completely terrible idea to offer new skins in the Gem Store. You made this game secure in the knowledge that people would pay to look pretty, then you haven’t given us nearly enough opportunities to pay to look pretty!
Yes! Give us a wardrobe, then give us ARMOR and WEAPON skins to purchase, not just useless town clothing crap. I purchased some costumes for the original Guild Wars, I loved how that worked.
I’d still love to see more weapon skins put in the game to find, at all levels of gear, not just as rewards to grind for or stuck into Black Lion chests. They don’t even have to be super fancy flaming swords of dark brightness covered in spines and bladed pommels, just please give us some variety!
edit: In fact, please avoid adding skins only of the variety specified above, as you have been doing…

I think they’re going to ignore this thread, judging from what I see in the dev tracker. They mostly post to praise their own ideas, answer technical questions, or explain some aspects of gameplay/quests. Since this thread has been raising a lot of concerns about their apparent money-grubbing, it falls outside their comfort zone or something.
edit: Oh, they respond to banning and security issues too.
I have no desire to hunt out a HUGE guild simply to participate in a portion of the game that should be accessible by all.
snip
Killing small guilds (by providing rewards that are geared towards much larger guilds) is not the way to save this game. It’ll just help sink the ship that much faster.
This. We’re getting some very mixed messages, when they make it SO EASY to start a guild, find a few like-minded people/friends, and then make it VERY difficult or simply take a million years to get any guild content.
The system for the super adventure box is good, why can’t we get tokens/trophies for killing molten that we can eventually trade for skins? How can they do it right AND wrong in the same month, at the same time?? It’s a good system, even if it requires a ridiculous amount of tokens. people who’d rather pay out the nose for keys and chests can still do so, and those who can’t afford to have a time-investment alternative.
The only thing they may have to change are all the trans stones we get as rewards…as it is, I have a huge collection of them since I don’t care to try collecting skins or bother changing my appearance a lot under the current system. I don’t mind getting very few or none as rewards, and paying for them in the shop provided they aren’t insanely priced.
I wonder what it will take to get a dev comment on this trend? They seem to be mostly ignoring it. I guess I’m getting spoiled by another game currently in beta, where the devs (including the CEO) are constantly active on the forum (and say they intend to keep it that way into release)… but I’d still like someone from ANet to comment on this or one of the other threads that are talking about this issue.
Putting these great weapons behind such an idiotic and unfriendly system as a black lions chest is just a slap to the face to the player base.
Agreed, completely. This is just one more thing added to my list of recent things that are making me regret preordering the collectors edition. It’s getting to be not even fun, when every update to the game is like “new cash shop stuff!” “new skins, but you might not get one even if you spend $50!” The story additions are pretty cool, but they just don’t feel rewarding at all.
They are only from BLC correct? I’m having horrible luck getting one from BLC
That’s the idea, if you were likely to get one then you wouldn’t have to spend a subscription’s worth of cash for a mere chance of getting a stupid skin. I am seriously beginning to regret my preorder, and I’m one more horrible Anet scheme away from just giving up on them entirely. Which is sad, considering how excited I was all through development.
+1 +1 +1
This is the best idea I’ve seen, having searched the forums for something like this. If ANet would implement something like this, I guarantee I would be much more comfortable purchasing things like skins and stones.
As it is, I’ve purchased one extra bank slot. I think I purchased some keys once, and immediately regretted it. What a waste of money.
I’m just coming back after a long break, brought on by endless grinding at lvl80 for skins and gear that forces me to buy more bank space. And the only reason I’m back is because the gameplay and progression is fun at low to mid levels. Once I hit the higher levels again, I’ll most likely stop again. And I won’t spend a penny more unless there are some major improvements. /rant

Same here. Every online game I play has had issues this week. Must be something going around.
