Hey. Here are some tips that come in my mind.
1. Dodge when clones run towards you really fast. (Shattets)
2. Dont hit the shield block to avoid second block. Dodge at the end of shield block to avoid big part of clone generation. Less clones = less damage. You can allso interrupt the block with some of your unblockable skills. (Cant remember name)
3. Dont use skills or move if you dont have to. Just focus on defensive skills. (Reduces damage from confusion and torment.) So dont spam AA. (Allso if you dont hit phantasms you wont get retalation damage. Not attacking all the time allso makes it easyer to not hit their blocks.)
4. Dodge shield stun. (So harder for him to land shatters/moa.
5. Dodge moa.
6. Never ever let your health fall under 75% to maintain your diamond skin.
7. Use shocking aura to interrupt blurred frenzy.
8. Evade illusionary leap to avoid immob and that way make it harder for him to land shatters.
9. Interrupt the signet that recharges all shatters.
If they use scepter:
10. Dont hit the scepter block or dodge right when they block an attack with it to avoid torment.
11. Dodge or interrupt the scepter beam attack.
The most inportant stuff are the blocks and evading shatters. Moa too ofc.
Thats all what comes first in my mind. You cant kill them but they cant kill you either. Hope it helps.

I have played this game since the launch and have never seen a skill combination/combo that I have not been able to do without macros. I have a mouse with extra buttons and good keybinds that is all. It just takes practise after that. Hardest combos imo are some chronomancer continuum split combos and fresh air eles phoenix blink one shot but still no need for macros.
I agree that it would be better as a commentary and not text. I just personally dont feel comfortable making a commentary because I am not a native english speaker. It would have been too hard for me so I had to do it this way. Thank you for your feedback. I have been thinking about trying commentary on some more simple video.

I see a lot of ppl having difficulties vs thieves as a power mesmer and a video like this was reguested from me a several times. I really hope this guide helps some ppl to deal with thieves better.
For me it was actually pretty hard guide to make cos fighting thieves is a lot about knowing how they play and like to do stuff. Predicting is a big part when fighting them. There is still a lot of tricks what you can do and you can find them from the guide.
I know that power mesmer is not very popular choise right now but some ppl still play it and maybe in the future if we get buffs this guide will help a lot more new and experiensed players.

I guess you cant get to legend with this build if you cant get to legend with meta builds. It needs experience. But if you can get to legend and want to try something fun and in my experience really effective. Then I really recommend you try this.
I did not play any stronghold.
This is something that does not happen to me all the time. This was the first time I got this high win rate. That is why I wanted to post it. I have not played Shatter mesmer in Ranked in about 6 months. I play a lot of shatter mesmer in other PvP aspects of this game. This is not normal so there is many different aspects that effect this. It is not just luck, skill, mmr, the time I play, the build I play but a combination of that all and much more. I even doubt some weard mmr bug or something. All the maches felt normal and the skill of enemys and my allys seemed normal. So I think this was mostly because of that I played shatter mesmer and a build that is rarely seen in PvP+some skill and that I was playing in the end of the season when there is less really good players. I dont really know but it was awesome and tought others may want to try it too. Thats why I am here.
So ppl doubt the effectiveness of this build versus current meta builds. Especially the survivability and potential of winning fights.
The thing is that you dont need pretty much any survivability from this build. It is all about the play style. You allmost never 1v1 and never go to fair fights after the first mid fight what you win with the surprise burst and massive aoe cc. You dont need condition clear cos your opponent cant pressure you 3v2 or 2v1 while you kite off point and spam cc on them. You make all the fights so fast that they have all the time some one respawning and make it possible for you to allways have a fight you can outnumber.
You dont need portal when mainly playing just 2 points and with that mantra I can win 1v1s vs necro, ele or ranger when I have cooldowns. Even egual team fights are very much easyer and doable.
I am a veteran WvW roamer and I have never used inspirations in my most used shatter builds so I know how to stay alive and duel condi builds without inspirations or more condi clear than the mantra. After HoT I aggree that you need inspirations to fight good condi builds in WvW but it is so much different in PvP.
Scrappers are a real pain in the kitten so I try to avoid them and target them last. Thieves can be hard too but if I keep outnumbering them he cant outnumber me. Just stay alert and avoid their opener. When they try to stay on me I use all the possible spots where they cant port and it should be pretty easy to make them useless. Only 2 thieves in the same team can really make me useless but that is so bad for the enemy team that they will lose even if you would be spending more time respawning than really fighting. In about 40% of my games I die 0 times and most of the time under 3 times per game. So the survivability is not a problem if you can position yourself well. Other hard opponents like warriors and guardians are only hard when they try to kill you or you 1v1 them. With stealth, disengage and kiting the target is easily dropped from you tho. When they are getting outnumbered they cant focus on killing you and warrior is easily kited. When I die, yes it is cos of I got hit from a condition or power burst and dont have ele clensing me. That is allways cos I played carelessly and it could have been avoided by playing differently. It is not all just that simple ofcourse you need to be able to adjust your play style and strategy if needed but that is the fundemental strategy I use.

I guess no one knows how to play vs a shatter mesmer anymore. I just got to legend with zerker chrono with allmost 0 effort. From sapphire to legend I have 87 games played and 67 wins. 15 of my losses was in the beginning of the season with power revenant when I grinded achivements for that legendary back piece. So I lost only 5 times with shatter mesmer. wtf. 90% of my games was solo and the rest was duo q.
I´m not even good at rotating so I played 80% of the time with only 2 points and went only where I can outnumber. No much brain power needed for that.
Last season I really struggled to even get out of ruby with only meta builds and switching class in order to have the best possible comp. It was so much harder to get to legend that way.
Or maybe ArenaNet just changed something in the mach making and made it kittened.
If some one wants the build I used, it is in the picture. I only changed daze mantra to condi clear mantra when we did not have ele and they had 3 or more condition classes. If we had ele I changed if they had 4 or 5 condi classes. I had games where I did over 1 mil. damage with this build.
I´m glad to see that I can play my shatter mesmer and be really effektive.
Hey. I hate passive procs so here are some thoughts how I would make them better. This is not a small change. This is just an idea and I know I have not taken everything in consideration and all the numbers are just to give some kind of picture what I´m trying to say. I do think that if this would work perfectly it would be very healthy for the game. Or at least I would be extremely happy. :P
This would only effect powerful defensive procs from traits with kind of long cooldowns cos I think they are the biggest problem and would keep this pretty simple. Like Self-Regulating Defenses, Defy Pain, Last Stand, Soothing Bastion, Eye for an Eye, Hunter’s Determination, Shared Anguish, Desperate Decoy and Last Refuge. There is not all but you get the point.
All runes that have a defensive proc that would reguire the attacker to react to that proc (nightmare) would be reworked. Something like giving few seconds of protection or small heling would be ok. No vampire rune kind of things or runes that give you stealth at some health treshold.
When the traits conditions are met a skill would get unlocked for 3-5 seconds. It might flash a bit so it would be more easy to notice and then you would have that 3-5 second to deside if you want to use that prock or not. If you would not use it the cooldown would be ~50% less next time. If you use it it would get on full cooldown. Maximum amount of procs at the same time would be 2. If there would be even more then lowest base cooldown procs would just go for ~50% cooldown.
This would make these traits more reactive and would reguire lot more skill in form of consentration, reflexes, decision making and would not be just life saving procs that reguire you to do nothing. This would allso make few traits more usable cos they would not interrupt skills and would not prock when not wanted. This is a big problem with traits like Desperate Decoy and Last Refuge.
The 3-5 second time is to make it a proc that needs to be used right there at that moment not just an extra skill that you can use when ever you want. There would be enough time to wait your current channel to end and then use the proc.
The ~50% cooldown reduction when you dont use the prock is to make it possible and worth it to save it on some different moment when you really need it. You dont want to endure pain some random auto attacks but you might want to endure pain a burst that might happen a bit later in the fight. This would make decision making a part of this and make a higher skill cap.
Maximum amount of unlocked proc skill slots is 2 to make it simple as passoble but not make less important procs overwrite the more inportant ones.
The traits should be categorised in 2 so you could key bind the other procs on one key and other ones to another key to keep it simple but make the same proc allways appear at the same skill slot. So you would allways know witch key to press. The categories migt be procs that activate on health treshold and the procs that activate on control effects. Like soothing bastion would be in one category and eye for an eye would be at the other.
The proc slots could have a timer that shows the cooldown of the proc. If there would be many different procs on the same category then the current lowest cooldown would be shown.
This is looking pretty complicated but I dont think it would be that in action. So thats pretty much what I figured out so far. Ofc you could just remove these traits from the game and thats it but I think improving is better than just giving up. Allso I am not sure if this amount of work put in to these traits are worth it. These changes would be awesome but you dont get stuff for free. I dont know how much effort this kind of thing would take tho and how big the positive output would be game wide.
There is a lot of different balance things in my mind but I think we all have and they can wait for now. I just wanted to put this out from my mind cos it was growing too big and wanted it to either get shot down or to get somewhere. :D And sorry for the typos.

I know it wont work in low tier solo ques. I know it worked for me and my team but I would love to know if it could make mesmer viable in high tier pvp matches. Maybe in solo ques played by helseth. Or when playing with friends as five or four man team.

Hey I´m Flux. What do you think about this build.
I made this build before bunker mesmer was a thing. It was really good and effective with a team and I liked it. The idea of this is to get illusion of life and moa two times with CS. If you get it off it completely changed the fight around. Enemy team uses cooldowns for the stomp but then the downed player suddenly gets up and some one gets moad. That moa was easy to kill and it fully revived the player who just got illusion of lifed. Fight was prettymuch won just like that. The awesome thing is that you can do it again because CS.
But when bunker meta started this build got useless. No one died so you cant do anything with illusion of life. Now that ppl started dieing again I think this build might be good.
The problem is that this build is not as effective as it can be if not playing with a team who knows what illusion of life does and how to focus moas. You will need some peels cos you can be killed pretty easy by a power build like thief, revenant or DH. It still takes some time tho cos so good defensive traits. You have two ranged weapons so you can apply damage from a safe distance so you dont get focused very often and its safer to cast illusion of life and moa.
You can hold points in 1v1 for some time and even kill some condition builds. Your role is to win team fights. Mesmer just cant 1v1 so it does not matter that this build cant 1v1 everything either. You still have some burst, moa and portal.
Illusion of life on about 50 sec cooldown with continuum split is just so strong imo.
I´m not sure if this build is fully optimised and if something works even better but this is what I have come up with. I dont play with a team anymore so I have not played this build that much and have not tryed everything out. This is just about the idea of using Illusion of life with CS.
Ye I doubt it really works. :P But the range of the area where the clones appear could be so big that you cant aoe them down. Still it would only work in 1v1.
So this just come in my mind and I thought I would share it here and see your thoughts.
This skill is meant for PvP and brings back the mind games that mesmer had when every one did not know everything about mesmer and how it plays. I loved that part of the mesmer and it was awesome part of it.
Skill name: Shuffle
Ability: teleport to random position in range of 600 or 900. same time summon 2 or 3 clones that appear randomly in that same range and copy all your boons to them too. Maybe add 1 sec stealth to clones and you for extra effectiveness. It could be a stun brake too.
cooldown: 40-60
This skill makes it impassoble to know who is the real mesmer if you dont have mantras, Food buffs or something like that. Then it comes to your skill to akt like a clone. This gives the ability to be more effective in hands of a skilled player. This could give you time to reset cooldowns without long stelths or give your conditions time to kill your opponent. The extra clones could be used just for damage buff or longer continuum splits etc. so there would be flexibility in the skill too. Down side of the skill is that you never know where you or your clones are going to teleport. Some times you and all your clones might just stack on the enemy and get killed in one aoe skill leaving you very vulnrable. :P You could still save your skin by activating long distortion if you are fast and activate it before your all clones get killed.
Hey. I´m Flux and I main mesmer. I am not a pro so there might be some aspects that I did not take in consideration. I think I have pretty good knowledge about mesmer. Here are some of my thoughts how they should improve mesmer.

So I thought of these things to balance mesmer.
They should nerf continuum split so that it does not recharge elite cooldowns. They should reduce the CD on continuum split to make back some of the loss. This way I think continuum split would have more depth to it so that it would not be used only for the double elite what makes it too strong skill. There is really cool tricks you can do with it but they dont give enough value to use them instead of the double elite. You need to keep in mind that there is really strong utility skills too. You should keep an eye on Illusion of life so it does not get too strong. It might need some nerfs after the CD change.
For moa they should make it to give you revealed when you start casting and make the animation a bit more visible. This way it would allways have to be used with some coordinated cc. This way it would maybe have enough counter play to be balanced with the benefits you get from landing it.
For portal I am not sure how to bring its effektiveness down in conguest. There is many ways but I cant really say how they would really effect the functionality in the right way in the right direction. You could incriese the CD or reduce the range. If you reduce the range so that it cant portal you from point to point but only near the point so that it would allways give the decap but not fullcap. Or you could restrict the amount of uses to like 2. This would effect PvE and WvW scene too so I´m not sure about that. Or make it only one way portal from the mesmers direction to the other end but not back. This would change the functionality a lot in all game modes.
After these changes the mesmer would probably be too weak so it must get some big buffs at the same time you nerf these huge skills. Hopefully damage buffs cos damage is the best.
But seriously. Mesmer is a bursty damage dealer with some supportive utilities. Right now I feel like mesmer is lacking sustain damage and maybe a bit burst too. Defense is in good spot in my opinion. Maybe buff shatters a bit. Make mind wrack clear any weakness on you an make cry of frustration rip 1 boon.
The main purpose for these big nerfs would be to give a net more room to buff all the other aspects of the mesmer to make it all around good and fun class.
Nerf all the strongest builds. Only a bit tho. Not too much how you tend to do. The OP things they have. Just like mesmer moa, portal and continuum split. This would bring all the less used builds closer to the golden line of not being meta or being meta. Or even viable.
I writed this a bit like for the devs. Did not notice it really but I hope they are listening there some where.

I really liked this medic build when the meta was not so bunkerish. The high damage sguishy comp we had was really fun to play but now that only tanky sustain classes and bunkers are good this build cant do much. Maybe some day the bunker meta will be gone. :) I hope so. :D

GS 5 is interrupt too. Cos you can get 4 or 3 interupts with only F3 I think it is worth it. I really like both of those traits.
Staff is mobility/defensive weapon. It has good area control too. The phantasm can do a lot of damage but is not one of the best damaging phantasms.
Disabled. I think it is pretty much a must. You can do so much more stuff with so many skills on all professions if you disable it. It takes some time to get used to. It helps if you bind next target, closest target and take target on some close easy to reach keys.

Yes I admit that clip was not really fast paced so it can be little booring. It was a bit booring even in my opinion. It shows some good plays and lot of outnumbered fighting so I think it can be interesting to watch for some ppl. My montages are not that booring if you like to check them out

I admit that the players I fought was not really highly skilled as you can see. For that double blink I used mimic skill. It recharges my next utility skill in 1 sec. I can try to help with the condi PU problem. So if you use the meta shadow arts DP build. Use bountiful theft to steal protektion and aegis. Dodge every shatter and scepter block . Interrupt every scepter number 3, mass invis and heal. Out stelth him. when ever he stelths you stelth so you get the opener and ceep curing condis. Dont bassy and steal at the same time. First land bassy and when he blinks away follow with steal. Allso if he pulls away and you have safe time you should kill as many clones as passoble to reduce the damage. Shortbow can be effektive as well cos the arrows bounce from clones and hit him in stelth and kill clones at the same time. You have a lot of evades too but if he lands something you should get stelth fast. Play safe. Dont rush the kill. That is all I know that should help beat that condi PU. It is really hard fight and good PU condi mesmer should not die pretty much to anything. So just running away is mostly the best option if it is a 1v1. I´m not a pro condi mesmer or thief but I hope that helps a little bit. Good luck with that ebola. :P.

I have allways wondered what ppl think. Is this 1v5 or just lot of 1v2 fights in a row? I like to think this as just a lot of 1v2 in a row but some ppl call it 1v5. 1v5 sounds so much cooler tho.

Kill shot warrior is really underrated in my opinion too. At least it feels very strong when played properly. Versus mesmer it is kind of hard because I cant kite rifle so I have to use a lot of cooldowns all the time. I cant really get hit by anything even that dodge damage must be dodged pretty much.
I dont know much about warrior tho. It probably needs a lot of skill to be able to play with rifle effectively. Eviscerate was much easyer to fight.
This was my first fully self edited vid so it took a long time to make. I have a lot to learn about editing. Getting all the footage took long too because I have played a lot more PvP. So yes there is clips before mantra recharge change. Sorry for that.

I think that scepter AA buff is ok but PU is way too strong and that is what needs to get nerfed massively.
PU condition mesmer is OP only in WvW roaming and dueling. I think that AA buff is good for PvP where stelth is not so good and PU is not used so much. In WvW where stelth is very powerful and PU is used alot the condition PU mesmer is way too strong and that AA buff is only making it worse there.
Just nerf PU.
