Thartalion, please stop with the childish insults, all i have done is try and help those who are not capable of understanding.

It is not my fault so many people in this forum do not pay attention and read the devs responses. Everything has been resolved yet so many of you are determined to continue complaining, its a waste of time and energy. I was trying to help yet i only get attacked.

If you have questions im happy to answer them.

Next time, when we ask for a source, post it instead of calling us trolls.

How were we supposed to know that Gaile answered a part of the question in a not-so popular thread in the Support section instead of here, a 33 page long thread with almost 30k views in the general forum? Someone told me to check the Dev tracker.

I don’t want to insult you or anyone else, but kitten , if you want to help, then help!

Think i found “The Source” :

“The thing is, we can’t make it an either/or situation, and the devs feel that the best course is to change the armor. It would be nice to say “Change if you want” but that’s not feasible. So the Flamekissed Armor Skin will be reworked. And when it is, you guys are welcome to share your thoughts and to let Customer Support know what they can do for you. (No, “a new car and a couple of free pizzas” isn’t going to be on the table. )
I understand this is sort of a hot topic right now, but again, there’s nothing to lose by waiting for a look-see at the new armor set, and there may be something to gain! It’s certainly what I would do and I encourage you to think of doing the same.”

and

“ou know, in looking at all the situations with players and their different needs, I really believe the best course here is to wait for the introduction of the replacement armor set. From what I’ve been told, it’s going to be really nice. Please keep in mind we’ve already made it clear that Customer Support will try to resolve the individual concerns that you may have once the armor change is made. Each of you may have slightly different situations. But since the armor is not out now, and because we will be happy to address your concern after you’ve had time to appraise the new set, doesn’t it make sense to wait and see?”

What is your source of information ?

Probably “TROLOLO : The Great Book of Trolling”.

Seems like this guy is afraid of something, wishing we all get perma-banned for expressing our opinions on an online forum dedicated to discussion. It’s just another thread in a vast pool of sub-forums. Pretty sure he could read something else if he really wanted too.

I’m giving Anet a break since it’s Thanksgiving, but i’m still expecting an official response soon (like, beggining of next week max).

They have already responded, the situation has fully resolved itself, there is nothing more to discuss.

People just like complaining, but there is no need for another response from the devs, they have done the right thing and the sooner this thread and this topic dies the sooner we can move on to discussing better things.

There are other sub-forums to discuss “better things”. They did the right thing in your mind because you probably didn’t lose a dime in the process. And no one is forcing you to read this thread anyway.

People who complained in the first place were heard, so why can’t we get that chance too?

I’m giving Anet a break since it’s Thanksgiving, but i’m still expecting an official response soon (like, beggining of next week max).

I’ve seen people today making remarks like “people are upset now, but they’ll keep spending cash on gems anyway”. Please don’t make such assumptions. Personnally, i’ll wait for the official response and if they stick to what they said last night, i’ll do exactly what you proposed : I’ll “deal with it” and “move on”… to another game.

Another thing i’ve read today is people saying : “if you were dumb enough to buy that armor without reading the complaints on the forums, it’s your fault”. You really think the vast majority of players visit the forums/reddit everyday… or at all? I’ve seen alot of people in-game early last night who were wondering in map chat why the set was suddenly removed from the gemshop. I was one of them and for at least 30-40 minutes, we all thought it was a bug, until someone came here and checked what was happening.

Now imagine a player who bought the skin last night and doesn’t relog, let’s say, until next week. If they make the switch between now and then, will it be that player’s fault if he gets a very unpleasant surprise when he logs back in?

Anyway, removing the armor from the shop is fine with me (sort of… the skin is one year old and everyone’s been complaining that T3 was too expensive, but whatever). Removing it from players who bought it is pretty lame.

Look at it this way : if they kept it in the store, some people would have lost “exclusivity”. By removing it to people who bought it, we lost either or all of 10,00$, 800 gems, Makeover kits, gold, and our old amor set’s look.

thatrtalion wouldn t be just easier to contact support and get an official answer? rather than trusting random posters on a forum (i am also a random poster…no offense intended).

I’d like an official statement on this, because i know i’m not alone in this situation. It’s not just about me.

Everyone seems happy that they listened to people who complained in the first place. I want people like me, who spent 10,00$ on this, to feel the same way.

you didn’t pay $10 for the amour skin, you paid $10 for the gems. you paid the gems for the amour skin.

The skin is changed,u get ur refund of gems which is the payment for the skin.

If you want refund of $10 for the gems, then you need to understand that once gems is bought,it cannot be sold back to the company for $.

An adult customer, like yourself, should understand this concept.

Well guess what? As an adult customer, i won’t buy gems anymore. And we’re not talking about only one account here, but three (my wife and daughter also play).

Back when i played another mmo, if I liked an item promoted in their online store, everything was simple : “Item A is 15,00$ USD, do you want it?”. It’s a direct sale, so if something like this happens, you get your refund. Simple as that.

I dunno how you can say you did it to “support them” and say you can’t trust them anymore. If it was to support them, you’d think you’d support their decision, ie that they made a mistake and are attempting to rectify it. Just seems contradictory.

Like i said, i spent hundreds of dollars on this game since pre-launch. I’ve seen numerous mistakes followed by excuses, closed my eyes on so many bugs (and i’ve worked as a videogame tester for 3 years, can’t believe what they let through sometimes). I’ve supported them with all my heart, but this issue feels like cheap and false advertisement.

When i got promoted to manager, the first thing they told me was to be open to my staff’s concern, but in the end, i’ll be the one taking the decisions. If you start listening to everyone’s concern, you’ll eventually lose control (because it’s impossible to please everyone) and in the long run, it’s your whole team’s integrity that will be affected.

I know people like the fact that “Anet listened to their playerbase”, but they can’t do that every time a group is mad at something. How many people didn’t like the fact that T3 reskin was sold in the gemshop VS how many people who actually bought the skin.

That is my concern and that’s why i made my first post on this forum.

I can be ungracious and blame the company for the mistake, or I can remember how many mistakes I’ve made, even stupid mistakes, and cut them some slack. That’s the choice we all live with every day.

It’s all a question of perspective. No one can tell you how to feel.

Problem is : I’m the one paying for someone else’s mistake. I really hate that in real life, so imagine how i feel about this right now. And don’t act like this was their first mistake. I got over many more, but this time it cost me money.

In my business, if i do a mistake, i give my customer the right to be kitten ed at me (so i try really hard to avoid that). If it happens, i will be sincerely sorry and try to compensate in some way, but i know that customer might never return because there are other alternatives on the market. And one thing i learned is that there’s no such thing as loyalty when there’s money in the balance.

Same story here. In the end, I will be the one judging if the compensation is enough for me to get over it or not. If i didn’t lose money on this (even if it’s just a tiny 10,00$), i would’nt make a case about it.

However some bought it for what was advertised and bought dyes with gold to match but they don’t like how it looks with the new look. More people unhappy. People used makeover kits to match and don’t like the new look, unhappy. People that only spent RWM to have the look that was sold may be un happy with the change. This is a total CF.

This ^^

It’s not just about the loss of a cool skin that i bought in a legit way. It’s about all that comes with it. I bought the skin, i used a full Makeover Kit to rework my toon over it, the dyes, the weapons, etc.

All this feels like a bad April Fool’s joke that cost me money and gold.

People who complained about this situation in the first place didn’t lose anything since all this mess started.

I also need a clarification:

Let’s say someone bought and used the skin and doesn’t like the new one. That person gets 800 gems back, but the skin itself remains attached to his/her current gear? That means that we get enough gems to split only two pieces back to what they were before all this mess?

Or, they remove the skin completely and refund 800 gems? Like all this never happened?

When i saw the light armor for sale, i thought “hey, they won’t add race change into the game, but at least i won’t have to reroll my sylvari into a silly barbie-girl just to get that awesome armor!”.

I really thought it was a cool solution for me. But now i’m left with (1) no cool armor and (2) 10,00 bucks less in my wallet.

Except the situation isn’t you buy an apple…because you didn’t buy an apple. This is more the situation.

You pay for a ticket to an amusement park, because you want to ride a certain ride. The ride proves to be unpopular and the ride is closed when you get to it.

You see, you didn’t directly buy the outfit….you directly bought the gems. Much like you didn’t directly by entrance to the ride at the park, you paid admission.

Would the park then say sorry the ride is closed, but you can have your money back…because most wouldn’t. In the legal sense of the word, all you bought was gems which you’d still have.

Now I’m not saying you shouldn’t get your money back. I’m simply saying the apple analogy isn’t good, because in that analogy you directly bought an apple.

I like your explanation.

But deep down, how do i convince myself, as a customer, to put any more money in this gemshop.

I’ve been playing mmo’s since around 2003 and it’s the first time i experience something like that. You might say it’s cool that Anet listened to a part of the playerbase that was kitten ed with seeing T3 armor on the gemshop, but by doing this, they probably kitten ed off another group of players, like me, who actually paid money to support them.

It’s a big mess and in the end, i’m not sure there’s going to be a winner.

You forget that even though you purchase the item, it still remains the property of ArenaNet and/or NCSoft.

You’ll be refunded the 800 gems. It’s so unlikely you will get your actual $ back because that would involve another retailer.

M’kay. I don’t really care who’s the owner of what here.

My point is, i bought an “apple” and now the seller is telling me “Hey, you see that guy over there? He didn’t like that i sold you an apple, so i’ll take your apple back and here’s a banana instead. Oh and if you don’t like bananas, i can give you a credit to buy more… bananas, ok?”.

Hum, no?

Hello,

First post here, played since pre-launch and spent a fair amount of money in this game (a few hundreds, actually). Anyway, i’m one of the evil players that bought the Flamekissed armor skin. I did it with 800 gems that i bought for 10,00$.

Now it will be removed from the game (or replaced by something i didn’t pay for). If i read correctly, i’ll be able to get a full refund by contacting support. We’re not talking about the 800 gems, but the 10,00$, right? Because i honnestly don’t care about those gems… but i did care about that skin.

My main concern is : will it happen again? It’s actually the first time in my life that i buy something and it’s “replaced” without my concent after my money was taken away from my wallet. As an adult customer, i’m a bit in shock right now. How can i sincerely put any more money in your gemshop, knowing that my purchase might be temporary or that it might change eventually because someone else isn’t happy with it?

What am i supposed to think about all this?

Wow, I think that’s the first non-cultural armor setup that I’ve actually liked on a sylvari, it looks great, nice job.

Thank you! I might change the gloves and shoulders at some point, but for now i really like her

Still #1 for me.

Got a little bit bored last week for the first time since launch. Re-activated my WoW account just to close it 30 minutes later (what the hell did they do with the talent trees!? A 5 y/o could play the game now…).

Then i downloaded Rift Lite for the free 20 levels. I really liked the character creation, but when the game started i just couldn’t stand the choppy animations and sloooow combats. I did make it up to lv 7 though lol… But i wouldn’t pay for that game.

I guess Anet did a pretty good job
