i will try to answer everything well. likely someone else will do better soon though.

1) that build “20/15/0/30/5” – zeal is not very good for guardians unless you are running a torch or spirit weapon build. its not a bad trait line, but others are better.

edit: ignore the slot skills. just check the traits

example of a fairly solid build and quite common also. stacks of toughness and it boosts your critical damage.
it will serve well in PvE, PvP, WvW and dungeons. it also has flexability. can swap out the 20% reduced 2-handed cool down for applying might on crit. and other things to help fit what you are doing without having to respec.

for WvW though i would recommend a staff. swiftness and a short range cone attack and a wall that helps stop people running. they can dodge through it though.

though its all down to personal preference and play style

2) toughness is necessary, else you are a bit too squishy. most damage can be mitigated through dodging and positioning. but this game is designed to kill you. especially in dungeons. as reviving downed allies is part of the game mechanic.

see your crafting profession vendor and google on how to craft exotics. vendor has the recipies and google has the info. but you can craft top tier gear

knights armour is good. power/precision/toughness. on my guardian i have knights armour, vitality runes and trinkets are Valkyrie and a few berserker’s. cant login right now. but i have about 2900 attack, 40% crit chance, 70% crit damage, 2800 armour and 17k health. i primarily play WvW.

4) maybe. there is magic find gear for farming. but i hate to have to swap gear and spec all the time. its possible to do everything in the same gear.

5) save your karma. some set stat combinations are karma only. but crafted gear is just as good and some set stats i belive are from crafted gear only.

6) merchants for karma gear are in Orr. there are also exotic dungeon gear which you buy with dungeon tokens from the relevant dungeons. vendors are in lions arch.

7) yes.

8) yes.

i have done something similar. but its all manual because its been a long time since i used spreadsheets and i have pretty much forgotten everything.

this looks good. however, i cant get it to work. no dropdown boxes. tried it in several browsers and just no go.

other than tactics and, as stated above, knowing that defense is also needed.

a commander has to earn respect, both through tactics and how s/he treats others. if its “ON ME NOW! FSakes! FOLLOW ME!!! OMG N00bS!” then well… they can sod right off.

some commanders though have different tactical strengths. if they are a one trick zergaphile they are just mindless and i wont be following them.

they also have to practice what they preach and lead by example. if s/he ask people to do supply runs until all the siege in a tower is complete… they should help do it too at least some of the time. same goes with yak walking to make sure the supplies get to the towers/keeps.

edited: to get rid of “kitten”. i object to the Sesame Street style censoring. at lease use “*” please.

… small balance which brings one shout skill into line with the others and all it done was a) make you look selfish, and b) get you killed.

if you are dying that quickly in sPvP its because either the other side are targeting you and nuking you down quickly or… are you sure you are wearing armour? ;P

with all the recent “nerfs”. i have noticed little difference. i still survive in WvW, i still survive in sPvP. i still have problems finding enough mobs to kill me in PvE. dungeons are still just as fun and not noticed i die any quicker or slower.
the change to the greatsword was a bit of a pain and altered how i use it a bit. no big deal.
the Save Yourselves change… oh well. i did wonder why all the boons are 10 sec long. seemed a bit too long considering the others. and the long CD i do not think its because the boons lasted 10 sec, i think its because of the number of boons it gives.

ANet likely have data somewhere which suggested things needed to be altered for X reason. the only major irritating for me is that ANet should give some reasoning to the alterations because without it people jump to conclusions and get angry.

here are my stats. still working on weapons and backbrace. but i have the foundations… i think.

current build is:

0 / 20 / 30 / 20 / 0

stats:

attack: 2716
crit: 28% (weapon will boost this to about 38% – 40%)
crit damage: 75%
armour: 2711
health: 18285

health i can likely lower a bit and replace with more crit or damage. health is high now because my build was 0 / 30 / 30 / 10 / 0… but i wanted the 2H CD reduction to give me more options. really dont like changing my specs all the time for different activities (pve, WvW, dungeons), so want a more situation durable setup so i just alter a few things instead.

healing power is only +200, but will be more when i get my healing weapon set, so should be about +380 ish.

i will most probably end up with 0 / 15 / 30 / 20 / 5.
