Server politics, guild egos
Very much this.
Season 1 basically killed SoR for various reasons. BG bought ZDs, which blobbed down everything in SoR’s least populated timezone and won all the fights against dem doors. IRON then left which left SoR without any EU whatsoever. Then the giant egos within TW exploded and SoR’s server leader Indo went MIA for at least a year, but before leaving, Indo and TW decided SoR was going to tank to T2, which started the mass exodus of guilds starting with SoR’s sea coverage. Green Arrow proceeded to drag the server to it’s ultimate death from there.
The death of SoR did teach me one thing though, servers mean absolutely nothing in this game and anyone delusional enough to cling onto server pride basically end up destroying WvW for everyone. IE, Believegate bullkitten over the past year and FA and what they have done to T2 lately.

I would like to say thank you to Stephen. I know that people on the interwebs are dirtbags and that the GW2 community is pretty much full of trolls and people acting horribly. But communication>no communication every day of the week. And I think it makes us respect Anet more and we are more apt to interact with Devs in more positive and helpful ways while also tying the devs to the community tighter so a real relationship can actually form that would be helpful to everyone involved in the game, players and devs.
People that know me know that I am pretty much the first person to be negative about this game and how it is going, but this gives me hope that maybe anet will see the mostly positive aspect of communicating to your playerbase.

I will say this, the game is 2 years older, the situations have changed and if you must level in WvW EotM is the preferred place to do it. Not only because you rallying the entire enemy team when you insta-die is very bad manners. But because EotM is 80 percent of the time a karma train and you will level up much, much faster and you will not catch any abuse because that is where everyone levels up nowadays.
Despite the people defending uplevels in the BLs, it is generally considered just BM if you bring an uplevel at this point in the game. And it is especially bm to bring one and follow and unpinned guild group during their raid and you will catch flack for it.
Sorry you have been away for 2 years, this is just how things work now.

Seriously, “you don’t have proof of this or that” What are you even saying, all the proof you need is that once again wvw has horrible lag. Everything else is semantics and obfuscation.
Linking ts isn’t helpful is what I mean because it probably isn’t on the users side of things where the problems lie. Can I say that for certain? No, but what I am saying is more likely than everyone’s drivers being out of date.
And the fact that you don’t know why that is making other posters mad at you is weird. They basically think you are saying to them that they don’t know anything about their pcs or how drivers work etc and you may not mean this but it comes off as you implying that the game is perfectly stable and that everyone needs to upgrade. You may not mean that, but that is how everyone is taking it and frankly it comes off as insulting.

That post you have been linking in all these threads basically says if you lag in this game it is your problem. but the problem with that is a huge number of the WvW population is experiencing crippling lag at pretty much all times right now. So, either everyone’s drivers are out of date or the problem is server side. Which do you think is more likely?
And listen, people are mad. Those of us that have stuck around for 3 years and support this game monetarily are frustrated. Things that have been broken since launch (specifically broken Traits) have never been fixed. The lag in WvW is worse than ever… and we continue to dump money into their wallets. This game is three years old and really never lived up to it’s potential and all some of us want is to play WvW fluidly.
So sorry if the playerbase gets mad at things like Lag in a pvp game mode. This stuff should have been sorted 1 month into the game.
