It would be great if we had a bool “attacked” true/false for every objective (next to id, owner and owner_guild).
That way we could make an app that refreshes current match and notifies you whenever some objective gets attacked

I receved a mail for authorization from Chine, town Jiachoeng and of course I didnt authorized it because i live in Austria, Wien. Someone was
obviusly trying to hack my account. So I ignored this mail that came on 24. may 2013. Five days later 29. May I got banned for boting and using macros.
I never used those and if I can somehow prove it I would, after all I belive Arenanet will be able to resolve this. The fact is that I was farmin in Southsun Cove, but in no way was I using bots. Two thing
are possible, someone “rage reported me” or someone just hacked in. I sended Ticket to the Support and waiting for the respons, but just want to have
this case recorded here.

That is something different …
It looks to me that its a web page, and that trading post is some kind of “browser”, but it still needs some authentication and packet sniffing (to find out that site location) so we could access it outside of the game, but I wouldn’t play with that much since I don’t know if that would be against the rules if I have to pass my login session when fetching pages
Crawling the leaderboards is not a problem, since its a public accessible data (anyone can see it, even without GW2 account)

I would also like to see some kind of API, and developers said something about it in the GW2Guru State of the Game where they mentioned gwshack: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9pn_t43Xd18 (at 00:06:40)

There are tons of stuff that could be made accessible with an API, and then community can make many interesting stuff that players will like, so that Anet devs don’t have to …

For example, I made GWshack.info without any API, simply by crawling leaderboards page by page and parsing (badly written, imho) table and extracting stuff I want. (If anyone is interested, I streamed it while I was making it, and there is still a video of it here: http://www.twitch.tv/turshija/b/389085877).

But imagine the possibilities if we had all of this accessible using API ?
For example possibility to extract several last matches for every username, some basic player info (which can be seen in game, such as username, character name, achievement points etc), we wouldn’t need to wait for Anet to make what we want, we could make it by ourselves and maintain it …

And finally, making the data accessible using an API is a trivial task that can be done in several hours, its just a matter of company’s policy and decision whether those stuff should be accessible to others or not.

I agree, we do need much better rewards for daily.
Give us random amount of materials (1-5 orb,crystal,sliver) + one token (weapon, armor, consumable) and if you are very lucky you get arcane converter (similar to PvE daily lucky black lion salvage kit)…
This way, we are playing more than 1 hour go get what ? One orb/crystal/sliver which you get when you salvage any kind of pvp item …

Hmm, you mean players with most matches played no matter whether its a win or lose ? Dunno, maybe add filter to hide players that have unchanged score more than 1 week, so that way we remove “currently inactive” players from the list ? Anyway, implementing such feature would be useless now, since we don’t have any data older than 4-5 days at the moment We will have to wait a little bit more, to gather more data

The main problem is the “tournament” logic …
When we had 3 maps in tournament, we had to wait for 8 teams to sign to make match … In GW1 heroes ascent you needed only 2 teams for first map, and then you are waiting for new opponent team to start second map .. If there are not many teams online, you skip some maps, sometimes you skip from first to last map, and then if you win the last map you stay in it, and wait for the next team to “kick you out”.
In GW2 3-map tournament, even after you win the last map you get kicked out with chest and that it -> repeat until bored (and you get bored quite fast) …

Now we have “2-team tournament” o_O what the hell is that ?! how can you even call that a tournament ?

GW1 had really great PvP maps in Heroes Ascent:
-you start by simple deathmatch mode in first map, after that you get “mixed” mods
-second one had some kind of flag which makes dmg to enemies when placed
-next one had ghostly hero rezzing entire team at base every 2 mins (if ghostly is alive)
-one of them was classic point capture (like the current mode, but with 5 capture points, everybody hated that map)
-other one had relic runs (which was even more fun, because there was body blocking, now we have something similar with orb, but the map is buggy as hell)
-as a finale you had hall of heroes, which was “king of the hill”, and that feeling after winning the halls can’t be compared to any feeling I had in GW2 (even though I like the game, I’m not hating it)

anyway, I personally think deathmatch would be great, because the games would be much faster + people will have to think twice before engaging, because if you die thats it, it will be hard for your team to rezz you

I think GW2 pvp mechanic with GW1 pvp maps and mods would be FANTASTIC !

Bunkers would be the least of the problem in deathmatch, because there is no point to have a bunker in DM … you won’t have to “hold” a point, so there is no use to sacrifice your dmg when your team really needs big dmg dealer as a bunker, you are pretty much useless in DM, and no matter how big bunker you are, you will eventually die after your entire team gets wiped, because entire opponent team would rush you …

Since the site is getting visited more and more by PvP players (only 8% of visitors look at achievements table, others are looking at sPvP table) , I’ve decided to implement LFG tool (similar to gw2lfg.com, but mainly for PvP).

Site is hosted on my personal 1gbit dedicated server + cached with Cloudflare, and it is online all the time without any problems … It was probably something with your connection or route to host, or some temporary problem, who knows

but I started expanding my system much more, adding graphs, history etc and I will proceed expanding it until there is community to support it
That is complex and involves few thousand lines of code (only my personal graph plotting library is 600 lines)

I also plan adding custom signature banners etc, so you can put your avatar in it, and it updates your stats, shows graphs etc

which is great, because script doesn’t rely on region cookie, now it can be passed directly through link ! ^^

Yea I noticed that …
Since my script reads raw HTML of current leaderboards, so everytime Anet changes something I have to figure out what and modify my script
I see now that my script is loading NA people in EU table for some reason …
Crappy part is that there is no POST/GET parameter for Region, instead its read from cookies, so my script has to emulate cookie region=na/eu when fetching data to get correct values …
I will investigate this later and remove NA players that are showing in EU table … :S

Edit: looks like every import only first 25 players from NA somehow get to EU table, so I have to remove them manually :S
Gonna have to make a script that cleans it after every import … Dirty solution, but meh, thats what you get when you rely on unfinished product ^^

They have made secret algorithm and display only players with specific rules …
What I managed to figure out is that you need minimum 5 wins, and at least 40% win percent to qualify for leaderboards …
Also they don’t look only at win percent for ranking, they also add number of wins in formula, so that someone with 100 win and 100 loses has bigger rank then someone with 10 wins and 10 loses ..

Is it wrong of me to be laughing at ArenaNet because, once again, there’s a website out there doing it better?

How long did it take you to do that? How many people did it require? How much were they paid? If you don’t mind me asking. I’m willing to bet you did it faster, better, and for less money than ArenaNet did.

I did the first version in 2 hours + I streamed it (there is a video here: http://www.twitch.tv/turshija/c/2137971), after that I invested 2-3 more hours into polishing it and adding features
That doesn’t mean I am “smarter” then Anet engineers that did that, it only means I had some spare time to make a tool I needed + uploaded it online so that everyone can use it .. I’m sure Anet devs can make that even better, but they are a small team of devs with many tasks, so they can’t invest too much time into one feature …

I know, I do that just in case to make sure I always have fresh info
Dunno, maybe they update it at XX:45, but cached version of the site remains few more mins etc, anyways I don’t think its a problem to update it two times in 1 hour just in case

GJ, but I think there is a major bug with people who drop out of the rating. E.g. It shows me on rank 673 however I am not on that rank on the official board. I lost two games yesturday which kicked me out of the top 1000 within one hour. The one who is now officially on rank 673 is not even shown on your list.

I think there’s really a bug on the sorting by losses.

It’s not because of the refreshing time: the 3 players with the most losses really don’t show up on your tool :p

edit: found out about the problem … for example when sorting by most loses on EU, the “winner” is joshualuca.4028 with 525 loses, but he doesn’t even show in the normal table sorted by rank, because he is not in the first 1000 people which I import
And I can’t import him, because I don’t know what rank is he (I don’t know ranking algorithm so I can’t generate his rank), I can only import ranks

I have that in mind, and I will add that, but it doesn’t make sense to do that now, since I have only ~ 12 hrs of data
I will save last 31 days of data, so I can make weekly and monthly graphs too

Actually it’s in the losses that it bugs:

The 3 players who have the most losses on the official leader board aren’t they same as the ones in your website. The first name to appear on your we site when sorting by most losses is the 4th on the leader board.

Oh thats because I sync data every 30 mins, for example: 3:00AM, and then 3:30AM etc, so probably I updated my stats at 3:00AM and Anet updated their a minute later or something ?
Im gonna move my script to sync stuff at 10 mins offset (3:10AM, 3:40AM etc) tomorrow then

It is not my goal to make developers ashamed, they are much skilled then me, but they are small team with many tasks to be done, so they can’t really focus on everything at the same time
I’m glad people find this useful, because that motivates me to improve it even more!

The answer is simple:
latency

for example, euro team playing against usa team, which server are you playing on ? American or European ? Because delay between USA and EU is around 200-300ms, and its a lot for fast game like GW2 … So one of the teams has to play on server which will give them bad pings and latency in game, probably some packet loss, frustrations, and unfair disadvantage…

GW1 was whole different story, it wasn’t that fast regarding movements etc, but still was quite annoying, because monks needed quick reflexes to catch spikes with infuse, and it was impossible with yellow ping which was around 350ms compared to pings to own region which was always green and around 60-70ms, unless you predict the spike, and try infusing earlier …

Signet of Shadows is broken in PvP.
When you start, you don’t get the buff from it, unless you change skill to something else and put it back …
Its really frustrating in tournaments, you have to switch to something else and return it back very fast before the match starts, or else you get locked with wrong skill in game …

Not going to happen, because people will abuse it in PvE by traveling to mists, selling their stuff, then clicking on Leave mists to return back

Other than that, mostly cool suggestions, but I would add this:
11. Mists world:
- Make chieftan and svanir HP same as in forest of niflhel, their hp is much lower in mists, and they are very easy to kill

Open world:
-Add dueling similar to WoW (probably suggested over million times), duel stops when the first one gets downed, so he can rez himself and he is not getting equipment damaged etc. And make duelling available everywhere (yes, even in towns), or at least in the Mists. (but this duelling style will probably kill the entire “server rent” Anet is talking about implementing, so its probably not going to happen at all)
