Argonauts of Tyria
Thanks! I’ll give those a look after work for sure
As a thief player wanting to come back, I’m also curious. From my understanding it’s just that thieves can’t melt face fast enough anymore because the meta is geared torwards tanky builds lately, and can’t stay alive long enough to really justify the spot on the team. But I definitely would like to see what people have to say outside of the ranty threads before I abandon my class altogether.
Hey all. I’m coming back from a very prolonged break from gw2 and will be picking up HoT in a few days. I’m interested in sPvP and as a Thief main, I was disappointed to learn I’d end up having to play some new classes. And as this seems to be the main dps class for pvp, I’m just curious as to how it plays and what the basics of the class are.
I’m seeing a lot of AOE and CC here. Is single target dps just irrelevant at this stage?
Sorry I’ve just been gone forever and the meta is SO different now
Whoah quick responses lol. What is Scrapper and Herald and all this. I know that the expanded to brought new mechanics and I’ve been seeing these names around. I’ve picked up thay daredevil is thief, right?
Hey, everyone. I’ve tried looking for an up to date tier list but can’t find any. I’m wanting to get back into the game, and used to be big into WvWvW. Wanna get into sPvP this time around and am curious what class to roll. I originally planned to just continue my thief and just change everything for sPvP but as the forums have told me, Thief is garbage now. Is 2h Warrior worth a kitten ?
Wait, there’s people who don’t like Journey?
Also, I would like to learn to go out in the street and become a motorcycle.
If you can’t identify with the play style of WvW enough to enjoy it for its own sake go find something else that works for you … but don’t pretend that any of it is more fundamentally meaningful. It isn’t.
Yes. This.
Beeeeeeeeeecause it’s fun? You already said you find it entertaining. If you only like doing it for a few hours, then just do it for a few hours. Not everything you play has to have a reward system to buy your time. You play games because they’re fun.
Though, I will agree with you on the “no consequences of losing or winning” thing. The other day someone asked me “What happens when we lose?” And I was like “Uhhhhh. Nothing, really. We just don’t move up on a list.” I do wish that there was SOME form of motivator other than a generic leaderboard system. Which is totally hypocritical for me to say, since I just told you that if it’s fun then it doesn’t matter lol. But yeaaaaaaaaahh….. Granted, they’re throwing in abilities and stuff you earn from doing good in WvW in March, so maybe that’ll kind of give us something to work towards.
BS WvW should have a comparable reward system as pve, pve is fun too and you are rewarded. don’t try to make that excuse we know better and deserve equal rewards that our pve counterparts enjoy.
I mean in terms of reasons to play. I’d love more rewards. But it’s not the reason I play WvW. As far as the “Why am I doing this” argument goes, I do it because it’s fun. Not because I get anything from it.

Sylvari thief as well lol. But DEFINITELY D/D burst. I’m not really into the whole condition damage thing. I switched out S/P for P/P. At least in PvE. Last night in WvW I kind of messed around with it. It did okay. But I’ll certainly look into SB.
Last evening, our BL was left without any kind of protection/commander. BP took it in less than 1 hour.
I tried to rally people, I spammed map chat, running between our different towers to check the siege etc… but people only showed when we took back Longview.
Most frustrating moment was at Cliffside. There was a lot of siege weapons there and I was the only one defending it. I was spamming chat way before BP attacked this place because for me, it was the best place to wipe their small force with that many weapons.I guess no-one is interested in defending our stuff.
Not having a commander tag on map didn’t help either I guess.
Last night was bad. That was my first real extended look at WvW in a while and man, that was disappointing. It really didn’t look like we had many people, then everyone showed up to take Long back. Then they all disappeared! You were the only one really communicating for a while. I threw a bit of info out there, and tried to go where you needed me, but I’ll admit I was nowhere near top form.
And that commander got on, and a few others, and they KINDA communicated at first but then it just turned into “Let’s all follow the icon!” after we lost Hills.
If last night is any indicator, then there’s a lot of work to be done. I can only hope that the community site helps get us on track.
Took a four month break from GW2 to come back to a seemingly dead NSP WvW community. Was directed here by airstu, and I’m so glad to see that I was wrong! Registering on the community site as we speak. Looking forward to getting back to the WvW grind and getting to know all of you guys!
You know what, the Superbowl thing never crossed my mind lol. But yeah, I feel like everything has changed since I was last on. Thanks for that link, though, airtsu. Reading through it right now. It’s definitely changed my perspective lol. It’s just sad seeing a lot of the WvW players I knew are gone. But the thing I loved about NSP to start with was how we were pretty much abandoned by…I forgot their name (the something Alliance), and managed to climb the ranks and make a name for ourselves. I’d love to see that happen again, and it seems like that’s the goal. So I’ll definitely be sticking around and signing up on the community site.
Hey, everyone! So, I took about a four month break from Guild Wars 2 and just recently returned. Played a lot of WvW before I left. Now, when I left, Northern Shiverpeaks had a pretty strong WvW community, and we were doing pretty well for ourselves in rankings. Not top of the board, but certainly not at the bottom. Kaineng was below us, and I remember them being in a crappy position as far as their WvW community goes.
Come back, aaaand Kaineng is towards the top and Northern Shiverpeaks is towards the bottom. I rarely ever see anybody, the map chat is not lively at all, and obviously the WvW community is gone lol. What happened? Where’d everyone go? And which server should I move to for a good WvW community?
Hey, everyone. After an extended break from Guild Wars 2, I’ve decided to reroll a Thief. My original toon is a 46 Ranger, that I’m sure I’ll keep playing. But I just had a hankering to make a Thief and so I’m currently working on him. I run D/D and S/P. Anyway, I really love WvW and would like to build for that. Just looking for tips as far as traits, equipment, and general gameplay.
I saw this earlier today on another site (was on my iphone at the time so don’t have link), and thought it was pretty interesting! Swapped between longbow and shortbow, used the healing spring skill. Just curious if anyone else has seen anything like this and could toss out ideas on a good build that works as DPS/off-healer, or just any good DPS builds.
I lied, quick google search found the site: http://fr.gw2codex.com/build/4805-wvw-dps-heal-ranger
@wdspeck Yes if people exploit and generate infinite money like they did for the karma thing, Anet stepped in VERY quickly and dropped the ban hammer.
Why because it single handedly could ruin the economy if left alone.
This isnt complaining that some random skill point in some random zone is broken, this is asking about what is for many people the end game of GW2.
And we are just asking for 5mins of someones time to throw up a things we’re working on list.
Yeah, but it’s the whole “we deserve this, we deserve that” attitude that I’m referring to, really. And when people complain on these forums for the sake of complaining. There’s issues, yes. Broken? No. And people act as if ArenaNET is just chillin and not trying to do anything about it. That’s just how I’m seeing this thread, and maybe I’m looking at it wrong because I’ve seen so much of it that I associate all threads like this with that kind of attitude, but like I said: that’s this thread is coming off to me.
I will agree, soloing is fun if you stick with groups, or act as a scout. Though it’s funner with your guild.
God forbid there’s issues in the first month of a new MMO. Let’s all kitten some more about it, because that seems to have worked in the past.
here we go……
A month isn’t ‘a while’ in terms of an MMO getting everything fixed….
We also have an open Guild Bank and will have armorer contract within the next few days. We have plans to get a mumble in the future, but that is dependent on if we get more members.
Come check us out!
Do you have a friend named Matata?
Hey there! Knights of the Round is a small guild on Northern Shiverpeaks looking for more people. We are a PvX guild and are currently trying to recruit so that we can get a few more officers and get our plans underway. As it stands, there are about 10-12 of us and are planning to (eventually) have 3 or more officers, with each one in charge of a group of players focused on a certain aspect of the game (i.e. sPvP, WvW, PvE).
We are laid back, mature, helpful, and social, always answering questions or striking up conversations in the chatbox. No real age requirements or time requirements. Some of us play more than others and understand that people have jobs and work and social lives, but we do appreciate activity as we hope to gain a foothold in the community and become prominent in NSP! Comment below or PM me any questions you may have, or to just make conversation!
Currently on sea of sorrows. Max character is an 80 engineer stintz. I am looking for a primary WvWvW guild, but i also like to explore all the content in the game. I put looking for a mature guild becase i am a busy person between school, family, and work but i still play a few hours a day but usually broken up between and hour hear and there. To sum it up im looking for a pvp guild all types and some pve, and a guild who can use a skilled player when i log in for a few hours. Thank you
We’re more of an all around guild, but with plans to have 3 groups: WvW, sPvp, and PvE. I’m more WvW focused, but we all play on schedules like yours due to work and class and whatever else. Feel free to PM me for more info or check out the link above. We’d like to have you, though.

As much as it’d kitten me off if that happened to me, it is preventing you from getting free siege weapons. AND, you’re also in WvW not PvE so any PK’ing is pretty much free game.

Let’s also point out that, by having this video, that means they were going to nightcap also lol. So why bring up the fact the other side is doing it, if you’re doing the same thing?
I do agree that there should be rewards for playing a supportive or defensive role, though. And an increase in badges would be awesome. But other than that, I think it’s fun and is really all I play now, regardless of reward.
Why do people feel the need to grind for kitten?
Fun should be ALL that keeps people motivated. If it’s fun as hell, why is that not motivating enough to play it?
This has been the best thread I’ve ever seen lol
My bad D; lol
Mac, we were at the bottom before too.
I was actually just wandering around the forums thinking about how bad I felt for Kaineng. Not in a condescending way, but because y’all aren’t in the best situation. But, after reading this, I can say I’m glad things are looking up for y’all!

And I’ll admit, sometimes I do forget them or just am not paying attention in the heat of the moment
Actually, I guess if you aren’t a ranged class, that could still be a problem…
Don’t they spawn on you so that you DON’T have to go get them?
That happened to us not too long ago. We just relogged the next day and it was fine. Here’s hoping the same works for you.
Well with your attitudes then double teaming shouldnt be allowed either because that means the server getting double teamed has to fight 2x more people. So scratch double teaming to, I mean if you guys want to sit here and rant and rave about how good your server does at primetime, then do it solo no double teaming allowed cuz its unfair to the server getting double teamed. Just like its unfair if your server doesn’t have as many as the other on at night.
Double teaming has no relation to the topic discussed here.
AGAIN! Are you kittening kidding me!?
“Oh, ima just sit here and take everything at face value and act like I can’t comprehend reading between the lines.”

Ranger
Good damage from range, can send my wolf out to rez, or it can rez me when Im down.
Plus I think the ranger is fun as hell
Quality > quantity.
10 Stealth bombers or 50 Gunbuses?
So you mean people living on less populated time-zones have more quality compared to people living on more populated time-zones?
Are you kittening kidding me with this kitten?
Anyone who complains about nightcapping is a fool. What do you want them to do, pause the war overnight? Do you realize people have different night times? Pausing the war for East Coast players would screw over overseas players, and even some PST players.
Besides the fact that people wanted an open world of wvw, and pausing would complete defeat the purpose.
I think its absurd that people wanted a response from ANet about this.
this
My only beef with NSP is you have a few stray players who like to “beat people when they’re down”, trash talking the losers for daring to fight against them in a horribly hopeless matchup. I know you aren’t ALL like that, but it’s incredibly unsportsmanlike.
While I agree with you, this isn’t just NSP, this is everywhere. There will always be that select few people who do it.
Exactly. People do that everywhere. Just yesterday I got ambushed by 3 dudes and when I died, they started “/me”-ing various things like “spits on body” and “teabags body” and stuff.
To me, tactics like teaming up on one person, or camping around corners in Halo with a sword, or camping hallways in CoD, or any of those kinda cheapkitten tactics, should never be followed up with “suck it, you got owned”-type gestures.

I read somewhere up top about people being smug and not smug. While it’s probably a moot point being 2 days late, still being smug is stating what’s already known just to rub it in, whether people mean for it or not, it doesn’t need to happen. I understand the ego stroke is needed from time to time, but it’s not neccessary with our current situation.
Had nothing to do with ego, or rubbing anything in. I just gave up on trying to talk to the dude, so I said something that would end the conversation.

Still looking! Got a few more members, and everyone is getting more and more active.
I’ve started to replace my swears with kitten in real life. It’s fun trying to decode what people are saying lol.
^ This guy is a prime example of one of our great Commanders in WvW. In my opinion at least.
