OP, you might try Dry Top and The Silverwastes (and/or Living World Season 2) before venturing on to the Heart of Thorns maps. That might prepare you a bit more for the increased difficulties.
Good luck.
Well said! The difficulty is far more gradual when you do it that way. The difficulty is not too bad when you factor in that its tuned for veteran players. There is plenty to do in game that should get you “ready” for the content. If you’re having trouble, ask! There are tons of players here and in game that will help you.
I’m a new player, don’t have an 80 yet. Reading the forums and reddit it seems HoT is ‘L2P or GTFO’.
Still enjoying the core game, but not looking forward to HoT.
Only way is to find out for yourself. Tbh, there is a lot to enjoy with HoT. Many of the complaints you see on the forums and reddit were from the same people that were complaining that “the game needs something new” or “anet needs to shake things up” a year ago. Raiding has brought another reason to log in regularly to a good portion of the community. Don’t worry if you’re not into raiding. There is still a TON to do, and people are super helpful in the HoT zones as well
Definitely sounds like a fellow warrior to me! I mean seriously, huge health pool, high active mitigation, big damage with the greatsword. Give it a shot! You might also find you like Guardian.
I’ve never met you Khristophoros.7194 – in fact I’ve never encountered you before today so you have by way of subjective reasoning never met me, encountered me or interacted me. In other words, your commentary is a finger-wagging work of fiction and a poorly written one at that. One more thing, as I simply cannot resist, are you an authority on roleplaying characters? By what standard do you measure your alleged abilities? But then that has always been the way of the critic, they act to deface others work yet are incapable of producing anything which can rival or better it.
As we used to say back in the Old Country, you’re full of hot air.
And my original question still remains, WHY are so many of the negative or derisive commentators here so unwilling to entertain the possibility of visually blocking the bullies? Could it be perhaps that it would stop your “fun” at other peoples expense?
I’m not against it, I will say however it would be a technical nightmare from a coding standpoint.
Personal abuse, I get that. Trolling, verbal harassment, sure. Trying to bring a PC down on its knees by firing off a load of effects at once, sure, though I probably won’t ever be personally affected by that. But intimidiation by having a character firing off skills or standing close to your character? I simply don’t see how that could be intimidating in any way.
Here’s the definition in Oxford’s English Dictionary:
“Frighten or overawe (someone), especially in order to make them do what one wants”How can you be frightened or overawed by pixels being close to other pixels? Someone invading your personal space in real life, sure, but… They can’t do anything to you. Well, they can annoy you, I suppose, but why would that be frightening?
Edit: This isn’t meant as an attack. I simply seek enlightenment.
I was thinking the same thing. I struggle to see how someone following you around in game is intimidating. Especially if you have them blocked.
Totally agree with you Raynor, there are just too many people out there wanting to be a prot warrior from that other game. The GW/GW2 warrior is a true martial artist in every sense of the word. You have to get in, get out, get back in, and burn it down. I don’t think a lot of folks understand how proactive you have to be.
In its current state, the warrior requires much more skill and actions per minute than a Guardian. I know most people staring in from the outside think all there is to the class is bulls charge, frenzy, and hundred blades, but that is not the case. With practice, patience, and desire to better yourself, the warrior is a deadly class.
I have always rolled with 20/0/30/0/20 and never had any problem taking out multiple mobs in orr, or in dungeons. I generally go with GS/Rifle for pve, but you can swap out a hammer or bow if you prefer the CC or aoe. I have an 80 Necro and I have felt just the opposite.
Totally agree OP.
Like the title says this is getting a bit ridiculous. You’ve got large amounts of people transferring to flavor of the month servers, transferring commanders to lead the zergs into feeding frenzies, and then there is the matter of supply wasters.
What about freezing the population on high pop servers and leaving the low pop worlds open for transfer? Just my two cents.
p.s. other than this issue I am having a blast, please fix this because wvw is serious fun otherwise.
thanks for listening!
