Hi there, before I start, let me say I consider myself a “casual gamer” leaning towards semi hardcore. I spend about 3-5 hours daily on the game, been playing since Beta, but took a long break in between, which I will explain.

I absolutely love this game, the details, the dialogs, the stories, the stories, the stories, the epic stories, how Im a superheroe, the stories. But Im having a few issues regarding how little rewarding I see the game outside personal story for a casual gamer like me.

Maybe Im just getting burnout, but this is the same thing that happened to me last time. I had been following the game for about 2 year before the release, prebought at the first chance, I was really exited about a new MMO that didnt emphasize on mindless farming and that actually rewarded open world exploration

Me, coming from certain W.. game, as well as quite the few other Korean FARM-A-LOT-BUT-NEVER-REACH-ANYWHERE mmos, I found this very appealing to me, I awaited the game anxiously. But as soon as I started, together with an old guild of friends, we reached a point that we got burnout. We found everything really pretty and all, but once you are over with leveling, going back would only hinder you, so we were left with only standing in LA. Granted, back then we didnt know about the different weapons, like legendaries, nor all the dungeons (only CoF and HoTW), found Shatterer by a lucky accident and quitted WvW all together from culling, (sPvP was unplayable due to all the thieves and mesmers, that until this day still plague the place, one shooting and frustrating everyone, but at least it is a bit better)

At that point we took a break (they quit) and I went to play more casual games like L.., where the fun was contained in about less than an hour. During Christmas I had my week off at work, and I was bored out of my mind, decided to give this a try. I came back and gave myself a task; make Bifrost. Here is where the issues start; while I understand it is supposed to be hard and optional, the lack of open world late game makes this game not have much to go for.

I want to have a hammer build but Im not sure what traits or armor sets to run.And also an alternative weapon set.

I will be getting a new laptop within the next few weeks, can I install the game on the new one with the same serial code or do I have to buy the game again?

I want to change my medium nightmare court armor into their colors but Im not sure which one they use. If anyone can help that would be great.

It’s amazing how some people can complain about anything. Now people are complaining that there are too many people at events. Reeeeeeallllly? This is an MMO. There’s meant to be people at these things.

No, you use that to help craft a legendary weapon. There are a lot more components than just the gift of exploration. You have a LONG ways left to go.

You’re wrong. You do get hit with DR with the exp, karma, and coin.

Show me another screenshot of that same event on that same character and level with different reward amounts for the gold medal.

Here is proof.

Well after I log in, I usually go on my main (Ranger) and look for some events in Orr for some karma. If there are none I go to WvW with my alt (Necro) and after I’m done with that I switch to my lvl 40 alt to try to level. The lvl 40 alt is taking a while to level because I do not want to explore the map again lol. My main was leveled normally and my necro was leveled when Hurricane Sandy was in my area. But usually during the time I’m logged in, I do my dailies while switching characters.

3. I’m working on the Gift of Fortune as the final piece of the legendary. The mystic clovers really are a killer T.T the rest of the sub-gifts for the Gift of Fortune are done except for the clovers and the 250 ectos.
4. I’ve been about 3/4ths done for about a month now and I find the hardest part for me is to go out there and gain karma. Karma trains get boring after maybe 2 runs, and I’m usually not on during WvW peak times to really do events there. But I know I will get there eventually.

Yeah, Gate of Madness lost A LOT of people. It’s pretty much dead. All the people that I’ve gotten accustomed to are gone now.

The title says it all. Will it affect your playstyle? Especially if you use the staff.

Hmm. Anyone know the odds of getting a precursor from the MF? Anyone recorded a bunch of trials? The L80 exotic market could technically limit the maximum price for a precursor if people were willing to play the averages. However, gambles are sketchy and most people don’t like it, and most L80 rare or exotic combines are quite unprofitable without hitting a precursor jackpot.

Kinda like how pebbles->silver doubloons limited price manipulation on that market.

(Personally, I don’t mess around with going for precursors, since I’m happy to wait at least 6 more months before really going for a legendary. Long-term goal etc.)

I’m not sure the actual % chance at the forge but it is extremely low. The chances of acquiring a precursor via the forge is highest when you use lvl 80 exotics of that same weapon type (ex: 5 exotic shortbows to get The Lover.) It takes some people a few tries and it takes some many tries It’s really all about luck. I got lucky and it took me 4 tries and maybe 30g but for others it might take a lot more than that.

It only took me about 4 tries with lvl 80 exotic shortbows so maybe around 30-35g. It was extremely lucky trust me. Its risky but it can pay off.

I made a post about this a few weeks ago because i noticed the same thing. Around late December the supply was about 28 and 140g for the cheapest one. About 2 days later it went down to 8 supply and 200+g. Luckily i got The Lover from the Mystic Forge but yeah I agree someone was buying them out. But this isn’t the only precursor this is happening to and whenever the scavenger hunt comes, hopefully the people controlling the market get burned.

There could also be dynamic events according to the weather like rescue someone from a mud slide caused by the rain or something along those lines.

It’s called an ACHEIVEMENT. You guys really expect to be handed everything to you.

I want to make a new character to get to lvl 80 but I’m not sure which one to choose, mesmer or engineer. I’ve already got a ranger and a necromancer. Both seem fun but I’m not really knowledgeable with both classes. What are the pros and cons of each and which one is more fun for lvl 80 WvW?

Every time I go to buy something, the buy button is grey and I cannot purchase anything. Even cheap 12c items. Any idea what is going on?

I hate when people camp there and just wait to cap supply camps. Then when they are being attacked they hide in their corner and become invulnerable. I don’t get why these spots are in the game.

That battle in SM was epic. All 3 servers in one spot.

I’m gonna have to agree. This is really annoying in WvW. It’s not even a little annoying. More like really really really annoying.

I have multiple hundreds of hours logged in the game. I started the hour the game went live. In that time I have received a grand total of ONE exotic drop (not counting the karka chest or zone completion auto-exotics), and that was a few weeks ago. ONE. I have received maybe a handful of rares from dragon chests.

Now please, Anet, try and tell me how that’s possible unless something is going on? It is virtually impossible for me to make money because all I get is junk that doesn’t sell for anything. I will never be able to afford my Norn’s cultural armor and I can’t even fully outfit him in exotic gear as it is because it would use all the little money I have.

This is completely deflating and demotivational in the extreme.

Please fix this.

Yeah same here. I’ve logged in about 300+ hours on this game and just maybe 2 weeks ago I got my first exotic drop (Also not including Karka.) I did not even know it was possible to get exotic drops that’s how bad it is. I doubt anything will change though.

The supply was 28 @ 140g last Friday and now It’s 8 @180g from like 2 hours ago last time I checked. The supply has been in the 20’s for a while until now. I’m so sad lol I was gonna buy it at 140g after the weekend. Oh well, I guess I’ll never get it. Has anyone noticed the drastic decrease in supply?

When did I say I spawned camped? I said I was GOING to do it now that i know that it is there. I had no clue this even existed until now. Read first, it helps a lot.

Might as well use it as well. If they let kitten like this happen i might as well take advantage and get all my badges from that spot lol.

Invulnerable theif in WvW. How are you gonna let that happen in a PvP type environment? Seriously.

Yeah i feel you. I was planning to get The Lover for 140g this weekend as I’ve been trading to reach my goal. But then in the past weekend, the availability of The Lover went from 28 to 11 as I’m posting now and price went up 45g. It kinda sucks because I do not want to play the RNG game (especially with the forge, the chests i can do) and I would rather just get it off the TP but i guess that’s not gonna happen anytime soon lol.

Gate of Madness. I kinda want to get my pact weapon. Too bad Caer Aval doesn’t work. Tried it three times.

The loot was awesome. Got 3 exotics and 2 rares. But overall, the events over the weekend were mostly bugged when i was playing. The holiday event was way better.

Jeez you would think this would be fixed by now. I’m doing the last part of the Lost Shores event chain and the part where you have to explode the trapped explosive gas keeps saying out of range or obstructed when I am standing right next to it…… This has been a bug since basically the beginning of the game. Get it fixed already you slackers.

You guys might as well get rid of the ranger class altogether. Maybe we can fit in with the pirates for some underwater exploration because apparently thats all we’re “good” for. Oh yeah might as well throw away my first month playing this game getting my ranger to 80. Wasted time by now.

Yeah definitely. After this semester I’ll try to be on as much as possible to help out. I’ll friend you if you’re ever on we can maybe try to do the event sometime.

In AC exp path 3 i can never hit the graveling mounds because it ALWAYS says obstructed even though i stand next to it with a bow or a sword. SO annoying.
