Tribal Armor?

Hi there everyone!

It has been pretty much made clear that the Tribal armor set (along with Stalwart I guess) which was a spvp only armor in the past will no longer be obtainable.

So instead of asking where we could get them, I’m interested in your opinion about it. Do you think that Anet should include that armor in pve?

I personally think it is one of the best looking armors in game, and I for one feel sad that I could not get my hands on it (being a pve-person mysefl)

May I ask about your gear? Because I tend to run the same weapons and (presumably) traits, but with power, vit, toughness. Do you think it is viable in full zerker? Or complete mixture like some zerk, adding a bit of toughness and condi on the way?

Actually, I really like these ideas. At first glance it may seem like a “let’s add stuff that I want/need”…but to be honest, they are very good solutions to some of the flaws of this game. But allow me to add my personal thoughts.
1, Sounds fun, but hard to make it viable, it would be the last on my list.
2 and 3, Absolutely. A must.
4. Wow, great idea! We have loads of pirates and pirate themes stuff in this game. Cool! Would also help to populate some of the maps to add these encounters to existing maps, where lakes and seas are present.
5, Don’t do much wvw, so I’ll leave this to you.
6, Would certainly solve many problems. It would be “content” in a sense that people would get permanent and big changes and interesting stuff they are ready to explore.
7, Would be most welcome.
8, Not necessarily the “death knight” stuff, but yeah…something should be added to fill that gap.
9, Amazing how a simple solution could calm people down regarding the trinity. It is a soft trinity, not hammered into stone, but something to give a feel of “role”.
10, If you say so
11, Something like Age of Wushu? There are many non-conventional levelling systems, but I feel fine with the current one as well. So this one has a question mark for me.
12, Great way for Anet to make money, and people would stop crying about it. Some totally cashless players might feel a bit down, but this is something we all and undoubtedly want.
13, Either just spice it up or make it new? Or create a separate talent system which focuses on actual gameplay stuff rather than numbers and chances.

All in all: great ideas and I support them completely. I hope the devs notice it! Because it is not just whining, but they are solutions that would benefit Anet as a company, the status of the game itself and the players as well. Most of it is a win-win scenario.

Taking the world out of an MMO is a BAD IDEA

As mentioned before, the Entire game can be played in Pvp, Wvw, dungeons, LA and Queensdale.
Why do we go out? Daily needs to be done somewhere…. go to one of the starting zones.
Dungeon? Teleport to the wp and go in. Map completely irrelevant.

My idea would be to get rid of 75% of waypoints, each zone should have like 3 maximum. And run through the map.
Also more event should slow you down, compelling you to do it, like roadblocks.
If you had to run to COF and Fireheart Rise had a meta event blocking the path they would complete it. Similar to the event to free the wp.

Get rid of the waypoints.

Largos. Even though they are steampunkish dark elfs-rays, they are somewhat sexy. Would be very popular. More money for Anet. That is the driving force. And not the lore.

Thank you for your responses, you are all very kind! It is good to see that others also see this thing as a potential problem in the game.
Quick note: I was fortunate to be recruited into a great guild, I am proud member since day 1 (yaaay birthday), but we are going through a difficult time and our population got low and I am hesitant to ask for help sine everyone is doing wvw.
My roomate and I are always playing together, so the empiness of the maps did not quite struck me like today. His laptop broke, so now I had to face that even after 15 minutes of asking for help and rushing through a map and finding no one that I had to ask this question!
Thank you for your advices!

I wanted to finish my balloon achievement, I had to visit like 2 more. But as always, they were closed and I had to kill a nearby champion.
It would be okay if there were people around to help me. But there was no one. Not a single person. On the entire map. I circled around, used chat and nothing.
Since I bought an MMO, I want to encounter others as well. Not only in Lion’s Arch and cof p1. The game is said to be casual, and you have to enjoy the little things, the exploration and stuff which I DO.
But doing it all alone. Events (group ones especially) are hard to complete and it just feels empty. Please come up with an idea to change this situation. So many wonderful maps created (best one so far in any mmo I’ve played), so why not use them? Why not enjoy them?
So I would like to ask for ideas on how to make the maps more populated.
My one would be the dailys: it should be more flexible. Like you have the Krytan killer, not it should reflect your lvl and become either Kessex/Gendarran/queensdale killer.
Or joint servers on less populated maps.
Or less waypoints.
Or more rewards for completing ordinary events.
Or just make events easier for solo.
Anything just not this empiness.
Any thoughts?

Maxed Homogenization

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

zallesz.1650

I loved the original concept which made me buy the game: the class reveal videos. It showed how different spell with different effects were cast in certain situations. No cooldowns, but in a thief initiative system. So if you wanted to keep a few mobs at bay, you could spam a knockback etc.
Now it’s just damage damage damage, our “unholy” trinity is broken and useless. All characters are the same. Homogene.
But it is not something that can be repaired by a few patches, the concepts and fundations of the game must be revitalized, which is a lot harder than adding more RNG boxes and leaving the big problems alone.

1, Living story should reflect on big events (Zhaitan is dead), make Orr less corrupted, reconstructing it over the months
2, More utility skills
3, More elite skills
4, New armors ofc
5, Scrap the dps-support-control kinda trinity or make it better, just do something
(like a control character should be able to maintain controls and not use it only every 35 sec, and support should be able to give boons, transfer conditions, heal more frequently, while both of them have less damage output, but make them useful for a group!)
6, Condition revamp, to make the playstyle beneficial (conditions do not stack with others’ , displays only yours for example)
7, Dungeons should be longer, add more bosses, challenging and random content so this quickly run through it without enjoying anything ends
8, Transmutation crystal: once you use it on an item, it is stored in your account wardrobe. You heard that. Account Wardrobe!
9, No more RNG boxes
10, More graphic options (like standard non culling models for everyone except party/guild members, skill animation looks nice for you, others’ toned down etc)
11, Dungeon paths should be random, so you can’t farm cof p1 all the time, whichever scout is inside, you have to stick with it.
12, Less waypoints, so you actually have to go through the game maps rather than skipping it all the time
13, More hairstyles!
14, Ingame hairdresser, cost: 50 gems
Though I have a lot more, my final one would be: Better class balances not just “upgraded skill facts and it displays correct amount of dmg”. Add balanes! Not typo corrections! Change skills more frequently if that is required!
(pms: elementalist atunements should be similar that they do the same damage, same spells so you can CHOOSE which element you prefer and stick to it, other than using it because you have to…always wanted to play a water-mage, but this here is ridiculuos)
Will stick to this game until the end, because it is worth it, but please listen to the community!

Crafting exp broken?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: zallesz.1650

zallesz.1650

Hello everyone!
Not sure if anyone else noticed this or I am mistaken, but I think crafting experience is broken.
I always have a lot of crafting materials, therefore I always lvl something up while lvling an alt. NOT to lvl the alt character itself, I despise that method and the people doing that. I do crafting because it further adds to the character, being able to craft own armor, weps etc. Even though it is bad and broken and worthless, I still do it.
And it also helped me to gain a few lvls with my fresh character.
But as of today:
I rolled a guardian, picked up armorsmith and started doing some crafting to have armor for lvl 10. Had a crafting booster also. I usually start with doing like 100 Jute scraps and 100 Bronze Ingot.
In the past it would have leveled me to like crafting lvl 50, and the character one lvl up at the minimum. I continued doing crafting and I was still the same lvl and my crafting lvl 18. 18!!!!
Again: I hate crafting as a way of lvling, it was never my intention, but crafting as it is seemed totally useless for other reasons, but not it has been made even harder to lvl? The amount of materials needed would be impossible to hoard.
Tl;DR:
Crafting experience underwent some changed that we do not know about? Anyone else noticed something similar? If not, try it please!

Karma hoarding - wanted warning about change

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: zallesz.1650

zallesz.1650

Quick question:
I just logged into forums and at this is what welcomed me:
Hi everybody,
Today we made adjustments to karma where the amount of karma granted from consumable karma items was increased and karma boosts no longer affected the amount of karma gained from consumable items.
We intended to message this change ahead of time to be fair to everyone, however this did not happen, and we apologize for not giving you advance notice.
The lack of advance warning resulted in some people losing out on karma that they would have otherwise gained by using boosts with the karma they’d saved up.
We will be temporarily rolling back the karma change in a hotfix to allow people the opportunity to turn in their karma with any buffs they intended to use. This temporary rollback will be in effect until the game update on September 3.
Please note, while this temporary rollback is in effect: the in-game text for the karma consumabkitten oster found on the Gem Store will incorrectly state that it does not affect karma gained from consumable items.
We will also be reimbursing the people who used their karma during the period when the initial change was in effect with as close to the correct amount of karma as possible.
We’re really sorry about the frustration this caused and we will make every effort in the future to make you aware of changes like this ahead of time.

Now… Am I the only one, who after the nerf… consumed all their karma jugs in anger, and now it seems that I shouldn’t have, because if I waited one day I would have gotten the boost.
Now this is outrageous. The answers were kind and I appreciate it. First fault was not announcing things ahead of time and they did not announce the solution in time….
This way, I used up all my karma without the boosts and completely got the worst possible outcome of this nerf AND the hotfix.

I am very disappointed. For almost a year, despite every minor and major annoyances I have kept beleiving that this game is fun. As they say, it’s the little things, that…
Yes, the little things. Like: The collapsing stars which pull you cannot be shot down with a shortbow nor pistol, because obstructed…. how? I am standing right in front of it and obstructed.
Then: If someone did subject 7 before me (which happened 14 times today) the small oozes are left there and keep damagin you. Is it not something that should be taken care of immediately? Very annoying.
As mentioned before: circles spawning at the corners? I know that this game is flooded with “randomness” but seriously?
Then again: if the visions do not pass the exact middle of the light thingies, nothing happens. The effect is a lot bigger than it actually is.
If the idea is that these achievements should require skill instead of restless grinding, than make it so. Not luck. Not for special specs/classes only. Skill.

New dungeon reward system a nerf to alts?

Come on let’s be honest here. “Punishing other who run dungeons with alts”.
You mean running cof with 5 characters within one hour, on a daily basis? Where is the fun in that? Is playing an MMO only an endless cof run/farm to some people? It is not. Go and try other dungeons because they look nice, because they have a story, not because it is another 20s.

Yeah, this bug is serious not because it affects something big…but because many, many people have the same issue and I think it is the most reported bug of the last two weeks, and I very much doubt it is that hard to fix. The problem is that we had a new content patch and a few minor fixes and they forgot the most bug people complain about the most. The “we connect and communicate with our players” lost credibility. But we should not feel that we are being completely ignored, no.

I kinda like the idea. If the temporary content is not the “kill 300 x and eat 500y” then it will be a huge relief. For permanent content, we shall see. Southsun was a permanent content which failed badly, but let’s hope this will turn out better.
But updates also brings bug fixing and polishing every two weeks which is also a positive.
But I seriously hope that they will add new stuff like armor. There were not many armors implemented, and we seriously need something to choose from. Every medium runs t3, every heavy female in Arah legs… give us quality with the same old exotic stats so that there will be more variety, more to collect. Same goes for weapons, new crafting recipes, so leveling can be less of a pain. Aesthetic changes. Somehow make the maps populated again. Like dailys can be “dynamic” regarding lvl, and instead of shiverpeaks/kryta/etc, more specific. You would have to do 5 events in Mt. Maelstrom if you are at that lvl, or a temple event if you are 80.
Also, connecting servers on specific maps lacking players is a good idea.
Anyway, looking forward to this, we have very high hopes for you!

10 months passed and not a single armor set was implemented. they promised us instead of stat based progression the concept of pure cosmetics… okay… every armor class has let’s say 30 sets half of them are awful, but since everyone has a favourite style they have their coolest looking set… then what?
i reached max lvl and got my exotic and coolest lookign set one and a half months after release… I am running in that same armor because this is the best one imo
But i want something to aspire to… something new to achieve… ascended is just meh, okay I’ll get it, no big deal. I want new armors! Maybe cloaks! They added some new weapons with this lottery thing which eventually made me lose hope in this game

Oh yes…exactly, someone finally summed up my ideas on this game.
I mean, GW2 is a great game, the first one i thought was worth spending money on, and the first glances of it made me fall in love. But now… I feel betrayed.
Let’s look at effects. All those nice particle animations. Wonderful, really catches the eye and I would not want to stop using such skills. These are not present in game, maybe a few (guardian skills looked similar). Yeah, it WAS a marketing idea, to make it more appealing, but if the technology is given, the effects are there…why not use it? Why deny players the right to see these images in game, the ones they have chosen to adore from the moment it was revealed. Why? I feel betrayed…
GW2 promotion was all about how combat is changing, how unique fast paced and full of action it will be. And for the first few weeks, maybe months it felt like that. Dodging was something new, the effects compared to other MMOs is decent… but simply put: not enough. Biggest problem is what many others before me mentioned: the pace of combat, auto attack spamming (when it was said before that there will be no auto attack…). It would be nice, to spam auto attacks, BUT… after around lvl 40-50ish… mobs die soooo slow and not because you are a noob or have no decent equipment…they simply have too much hp, and combat is basically: auto attack, waiting for bigger attack cooldowns and dodging from time to time. Compare it to WoW for instance (yea…feel free to throw rocks at me), where you stood in one place and pressed buttons, quite boring in the 21th century. Now it is all the same… except that you have to dodge quite a few times if you want to survive, since your hp is generally low and mobs do much damage, which becomes such a drag… I would be happy to dodge all around and perform these acrobatic and tactic things, if it is rewarding. But it still takes almost a minute or not 2 (or more Dear God) to kill one single mob… even if I spend several golds per lvl to equip better stuff as I level my character. No… terribly boring, and I lvoe lvling… I lvled all classes to feel them, to try them and it just turns out boring and dull and is a drag.
The first zone is always fun, because you can run through it, full of action, fast, and then you switch to the second one (15-25) and everything takes exactly 10 TIMES MORE to kill… once you reach sparkly fen, you just wish you were dead isntead of spamming auto attacks with their crappy animations, and no actual effect or benefit or excitement.
It might be too long, but I’m playing since headstart, never once gave up hope on this game, constantly promote it, since it still better than most. But regardless, I feel betrayed and let down, with this current system. The world is empty, players only do events in the first zones, or are in LA, or the actual living story map, and other than that i feel alone. Alone with my auto attacks, and that is why i am seriously considering taking a break. Sad story, because it looked so promising, could have turned out so well…
TL,DR: we should have these animations in game

Sparkly Fen Event, guards unresponsive

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

zallesz.1650

Hi!
My problem is that there is an event in Sparkly Fen, near Fort Cadence, where the Vigil camp is attacked by an undead ship appearing and you have to sink it and defeat the waves in like 15 minutes. Problem is that the guards and engineers there do nothing. Even when hit by risen, they just stand there, idle. It is difficult to do events nowadays because no one is in these areas, everyone is just farming COF or stands in LA. But I managed to solve some group events all alone if there was some help by the guard NPC-s. This was it is impossible. It is deeply saddening to me, because this event was one of the main reasons I bought the game, it looked fascinating! You should pay more attention to these parts of the game, that was so exciting and lively back in August, now it’s just a barren map without anyone, no life, no action, boring. Please at least fix the guards’ reactions, or make the event easier or something, because there are still a few people left in GW2 who wants to embrace the world you guys created and not just farm mindlessly. There is content here, we just need to realise it, make it a bit more rewarding to re-visit these sites.
Anyway, I got carried away, fix the guards pls

Mesmer with a fan

in Mesmer

Posted by: zallesz.1650

zallesz.1650

The “fan as a focus skin” is understandable and is more probable than getting an entirely new weapon. But:
In a future expansion, giving us new skills is almost obligatory… cause only if new maps are added (including races, classes etc.) that’s not much of an expansion, only content expansion.
GW2 as far as I know does not wish to increase lvl cap, therefoe giving us skill is only possible via new weapons and/or utilities.
And as noted above, mesmers have weapons which are completely useless. We have either short ranged melee weapons, or long ranged condition stacking or cookie cutting gs. No medium range. We are therefore degenerate versions of warriors and elementalist/necros. The foretold uniqueness of our class is not present. We have our mechanics, but with the constant “fixing” it looses it’s value.
And the concept came from the single idea that these pictures, these walpapers which should depict our classes as they are is ONLY inaccurate about mesmers. Taking into account all the trouble our class went through, for me it was a deep cut. Seems unfair.

The main problem is that Anet COULD do so many wonderful things with this game, but the arising problems from the beggining plagued their work (gold sellers, tp, wv3 lag, botting etc).
Even if these issues are not competely solved they should start focusing on creating a gaming experience which is unique and ground breaking. We have dodge, which is a very simple mechanic yet changes the whole game, for the better.
Addig new weapons and reforging some original (and failed) ideas about classes need to take place in order to maintain a satisfied player base.
And funnily, ‘fans’ would not require the creation of new animations or graphics, just resizing and using older animations. Not much of a work if we look at the big picture. But would satisfy thousands.

Anyway, that’s my opinion.

Thief overpowered?

in Thief

Posted by: zallesz.1650

zallesz.1650

Judging from the obvious: my roomate and best friend is a thief (my main is mesmer, but tried other classes at 80 as well), we only play together.
Simple fact: he delivers 3 attack in 3 seconds (skill1, skill1, skill1), and I see numbers like 3000, 3000, 4000 in a quick row.
Just for the record: my 3 attacks take 5 seconds to be completed and you can see numbers like 800, 1000, 1300 (even 400).
And he has lower lvl gear than mine (which is: full exotic, power, prec, toughness).
He does no activate the +15% (or something) damage for 5 attacks signet or anyhings, only pressing buttons.
Therefore, he kills a mob faster. With his +25%passive movement speed, he proceeds to the next one, whereas I am still hitting my lovely little 1000s.
If in trouble, he pops 2 thief mateys, giving him combo starters, decent bonus damage whatnot. His healing skill makes him invisible, cures conditions and applies regeneration. If all seems lost, he teleports aways and runs til the sun rises with his +25% movement passive. His traitpoints look like as if made by a 5 year old, since he can hardly understand english.

Numbers. All I see is numbers and laziness maybe? It takes absolutely no effort for him to overcome my damage output, escape skills or anything, whereas I struggle and carefully spend my trait points to be able to come near to my lovely roomate who started playing computer games in august…

Before I get the complaints that I am only stressed that a newbie overcomes me…no. This is not the case, I am happy for my friends, I’m glad to see that he is successull and enjoys playing. I am only sad that this level of OP-ness still goes unseen by many and I’ve been checking the forums of every profession and thieves usually throw around phrases like “This is the most difficult, less fun class to play with”…" we need more toughness and hp, because it is already unfair to thieves"… and such.

Please relax and contemplate on the fact that your profession is not the most difficult, and can easily be regarded as the most OP.

This is my personal opinion, by looking at 2 monitors, videos, forum topics and compairing them.

Mesmer with a fan

Posted by: zallesz.1650

zallesz.1650

Hi there! I just realised that all the official wallpapers released for the professions are similar to what we can see ingame. Except for the mesmer since it is shown carrying a fan. And the idea came to me, that so many complain about mesmer weapons being useless (I agree with most of them) and some also want newly added weapons (most popular is pistol so far)… so why not fans?

You could carry one in both hands, they could have medium range like necromancer axe, and each swing (button1) could send purplish looking waves (small scaled effect like gs skill5?) and we could have the same preset of skills, like skill2 as a burst, rapid swing of magical purple awesomeness. 3 for a clone next to you, few meters away and you can swap places with it, 4 for Illusionary Dancer which could work similarly to Hounds of Balthazar, jumping from one place to another and dealing aoe damage in a smaller area, the animation could be similar to the thief dagger/dagger skill3 (which looks very cool ofc.); and skill 5 for pulling your enemy towards you while teleporting to a place where s/he stood before, creating a skill bar which fits the mesmer playstyle and present skills, while giving us something new, which perfectly fits the concept.
For those who wonder, what I’m talking about, the picture is below.

Anyway this just popped out of me, let me know what you guys think, I’d like to hear your opinion!
