I had a restoration Shaman, a Hunter and a prot Warrior in WoW.
In GW2 I first rolled a Ranger. This was one of my biggest mistake in this game… 2-3 years ago the Ranger was an underdog in PvE/Wvw. I stucked with this toon for a year or so but I got fed up with the hate so I rerolled to Ele (D/D and staff waterbot), than I rolled a Thief (levelled to 80 and geared up but it’s not my style…), than a Necro (the walking death but it’s not my style either… I’m a helpful person so this selfish stereotype didn’t catch me) and now I main a Guardian. It’s like a Protection Hunter in WoW terminology
The philosophy and the tools are just for me (even the Dragonhunter’s)… (I wish ANET nerf the CD on the TrueShot… I hate that skill! I’m forced to spam this in 20% of my gametime ! I hate that with all my heart! )
if anet decide to not make it root ur character when using this skill, im sure u wont complaint
oh maybe for balance-sake, make the CD long enough and un-root.
not everyone dislike it.
im gonna disagree if it got removed completely.
but im gonna agree if it got a on/off toggle.
so many QQ ppl just for this little thing ? cmon.
dont waste ur time trying it again dude, really.
i too liked bow, but not just only the bow, i liked heavy armor class + longbow as a whole, so my preference are dragonhunter and berserker.
right now i maining dragonhunter, and im on my way to make berserker longbow
ranger, not so much i just dont like the fact it use medium armor.
so if u confused make two of them to 80, and test it in real PVE environment, not just test it on PVP lobby, just like me, i first too test any class just on PVP lobby, but turns out that my expectation went different when i really test it in the real environment.
the changes on guardian is the most awful one.
i cant see what the devs intend on this class at all.
please give us something that makes this class unique, all this class can do can be done better with other class.
and the changes made on the guardian make the build scattered around.
“Scepter buff isn’t enough to make it better than mace in 90% of the builds. Shield trait buff makes you go to valor which is only good with medi and lets be serious 240 toughness for you or 150 toughness for your party? I’d take the party buff because shield skills don’t warrant the extra CD reduction.”
“Signet cd reduction is w/e. I get bane signet can do work on break bars but honestly is it worth the loss of power? No it isn’t. No one uses signet of judgement and if they do they sure as hell dont activate it. "
I run a similar build with the crusader amulet, but with bow instead of great sword, but I’ve been using exuberance because durability has been removed. It works very well, just less healing power than your setup.
If you were more offensive minded, you could trade out rf for fmw for the fury and group quickness for team fights. I use to run ji for the stunbreak and heal, but now cop is a viable alternative for the condi conversion.
I know it works on crusader, so this is, in my opinion, a good build. Probably more bruiser-ish than my build.
can u share ur build on gw2skills.net ?
wanna compare with OP’s build, i think this is interesting build
i think i agree with this one.
“guardian is a joke”
no thanks.
still prefer longbow.
^ im also confused, if they want to stick to the concept , why make dragonhunter as elite spec in the first placr? Just from the name we know we supposed to hunt the dragon, which is why we have burst and disruptive skill.
Really cant wait what will we actually get from the balance patch.
would this spirit weapon rework intended for core guardian or the elite spec dragonhunter ?
congratulations !
devs heard you man
dont forget to make another QQ thread on other class forum next
(edited by zangato.2809)
if they want to nerf trap, then atleast make it ground-targetable or something to make up for it.
guardian stands on the edge of a cliff, will devs push him or help him, i dont know.
well i dont think so.
unless they change the genre, like maybe gw3 will be hack and slash ?
Even a 12 year old mmo has that inside their game. Type a word and it shows you all the references to that word. Like “Ring of Talos”…
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knight_Online , released in 2004. Outdated game, but it already had the things we can dream about. And the best PKing ever in an mmo.
kitten ! i found another ex-KO player. first is in reddit, now here lol
i agree 100% that KO is the best PKing, especially in colony zone, i even have weird fantasy that in the future KO got reworked
@OP , i agree, but thats to much of work for Anet, well we know how anet handle things right ?
Please tell me the dye that used on each armor, pretty kitten, i like the combination
I’m fine with more frequent but less precise balance patches, myself. Here’s why:
#1: There’s a drastic drop off in returns after a short while. It’s something that a lot of artists will tell you. I’m going to paraphrase Trey Parker and Matt Stone on why it is they make each episode of South Park in a week: “You can spend several months on an episode, getting the timing exactly perfect for that one or two jokes, but if you keeping working at getting it perfect, you’ll never get it done. You’re spending a lot of time to make that episode maybe 10% better. It is better to get that episode out there and not worry about it being perfect”. Balance patches are similar: you can see the problems that need fixing within a month or two. Spending 6 months between balance passes only makes it 10% better.
#2: Feedback is important. The thing with ideas is that they have inertia, and just because the devs have been sitting on a thought for 6 months doesn’t make it smarter. I’d rather the devs throw out their 90% quickly, so they can see what happens and get feedback on how things have changed. Then, when they do the next balance patch, they can take that into consideration and make adjustments again. A faster balance patch may be a bit worse, but it is worse for substantially less time.
#3: Long inaction clearly isn’t working. They say the definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over again, but expect different results.
#4: Changing up the game regularly will encourage players to come back regularly. A balance pass every 2-3 months means that when something is bad, a player can just take a break for a bit. A balance patch every 6 months creates a feeling of hopelessness, knowing that you’ll have to live with a problem for an extended period of time. Faster updates means higher retention.
I’d rather Anet gets it wrong fast and improves themselves, rather than taking forever to get it wrong anyway and taking forever to improve themselves.
kitten , im with you on this .

this is pretty much it
