I agree with you, going far at start is not a good idea unless you are a druid.
I recorded games that I reach legend each season, and here is a mesmer just like you mentioned above.

From all the video guides I see they all have 3 skills, but I have 2 skills only and its impossible to reach silver without skill1. Does anyone know how to solve this?

Getting ‘stuck’ in ruby is a very important topic regarding how best league should operate. We changed matchmaking to make the ladder more prestigious and so far it has done that. Divisions are aligning with skill level much better than season 1. The product of this change is that the bulk of players who hover around the middle of the mmr curve should stay in sapphire and ruby. Win rate will level out at 50% because there are plentiful players of similar mmr in the same division.

Should average players be able to climb out of the middle divisions by grinding? This removes prestige and can make matchmaking worse within a division, but always allows a sense of progression.

Should average players stay in the middle divisions because that’s where they belong at their skill level? This retains prestige and only improving skill will allow climbing, but rewards and progression stop at some point through the season.

Is there an incentive that could be added to league games for players who have reached their appropriate division and can no longer climb?

So you know what you are doing. In season 1 if a player has 50% winrate he will progress, in season 2 it is impossible.
Generally I don’t mind this system, I have reached diamond and get the backpack already. But I stopped playing pvp like you mentioned there is no incentive.
To be honest, in my opinion, balance, prestige or whatever they all don’t matter, what matters is how you make majority of players happy. Everytime you nerf something, some people will leave,because you take away something they like, simple.

Legend Queue Times

Two things;

1. Theres basically no reason to continue play once you get legend. No extra tickets, no extra shinies, just a title for getting there.

2. A lot of players gave up due to constant losing which leads to huge q times. Who in right mind would bother to continue play if they lose match after match. Pvp in this game is dead as Anet killed it by their horrible and most kittened matchmaking in the history of gaming.

Personally i have reached diamond, made wings and stopped playing completely. Atm theres no reason to play, i have huge ques and on top of that i blowout other team or the other way around. No close games whatsoever, faceroll or be facerolled. S1 had more prestige than this joke if you been soloq only.

Completely agree, after getting my wings there is nothing to do but trolling for fun. Actually I don’t like PVP at all, if there is no such legendary wings, I won’t touch it at all.
Same goes WvW, I played almost 1 year now I haven’t even played a single WvW game.
But if Anet add a legendary reward I will immediately jump into it and farm it all day.

1. Nerf class skills consistency.
For example Revenant and Mesmer are well designed classes, their skills have good synergy, using their skills in a correct order will create huge damage chain. Nerf them, make them inconvenient and awkward, will lead to balance. (add a cast time to Facet of Light is a good start, just need to add more cast time and longer cooldowns)

2. Make players can lose division too.
So most players will stop playing the game after they reaching certain division. This will prevent players trolling games because they have nothing to do after they get the legendary wings.

This match making system is ridiculous, it is impossible to win for 5 rubies against 5 diamonds.

Anyway I am diamond now, and I don’t need to pvp anymore.

Here is mine as reaper, but I think I can do more if I play DH.
Our team was pretty behind at the beginning since they killed our lord, but after that they didn’t win any teamfights, so they lost in the end.
