I prefer PvE. WvW is just PvP mob-style. The forums even classify WvW under the PvP category. I agree with OP that WvW should have no effect on PvE, particularly in regards to server populations, guild influence, and daily achievements.
Also why does my world exploration have WvW in it? It’s through the mists – not part of Tyria.
I hope WvW disappears soon – it’s despicable.
GW 2 is basically 5 games:
PvP
WvW
PvE – Open World
PvE – Dungeons
PvE – Personal Story
I wish ANet had picked one and gotten it right before trying to add another.
The Lost Shores event wasted every minute of my time spent playing. It was not enjoyable in the least. It’s almost a clever concept – alien invasion except from the sea – but that’s been done a million times, so it’s not new. I don’t feel like I’m being rewarded for my time and money spent playing. When I invest – I get lag, or completely disconnected, or have resources removed because of exploiters, or the event I’m in decides to get stuck, or a monster goes berserk and kills me because of a bug, or it goes invulnerable because I stepped up on a pebble. If I’m lucky enough to survive and win the day my reward is a hoof or an unsalvageable scale or maybe even butter!
Seriously, spend more time fixing the existing bugs, especially with dynamic events and daggers sticking through people’s legs, and drop the crap like Lost Shores. I want a game that works, and I want to feel rewarded for my efforts.
P.S. – Stealing my money every time I want to go somewhere is not cool.
I liked the game despite all its initial failures, and despite the continued bugs and breaks in the game. However, the release of Lost Shores, the numerous bugs regarding it, the extremely poor implementation especially concerning the lag in the initial event and the frustrating breaks in events like Noll and Canach – all have brought me to the verge of quitting forever.

This was a complete waste of time. The lag made it unplayable. The “story” was already pitiful, and the lag made it horrible. I’m sorry that I even tried. Every event starting with the pre-launch launch has disappointed me.
There are still so many bugs in this game it’s frustrating – dynamic events broken, karma exploits, clipping errors, client crashes, invulnerable monsters, sound loops, etc.
I get the feeling that crafting in GW2 was never intended to be something that would make the player profit. Rather, crafting is intended to serve two roles:
1. As a gold sink by removing materials/money/karma from the game by players levelling their crafting skills.
2. As a means for players to avoid having to buy equipment off the TP or relying on random drops by giving them the means to craft equipment they need themselves. (Granted, you’re still kind of reliant on luck to get Fine crafting materials for insignia and inscriptions though.)
I use crafting primarily for option 2. The knowledge that I can make what I need instead of having to rely on the vagaries of chance or the whims of another player is very empowering and provides me a great deal of personal satisfaction while playing.
I wish crafting was a source of income. However, the market does not provide for that – players do not wish to spend more on the manufactured items than the cost of the rare materials. Plus, they don’t want to spend more on a hand-crafted item than an item posted from someone’s loot if the looted item has the same stats (or nearly so).
I do want to point out that I craft not only to avoid buying armor, but because I like the variety of armors. I also like the achievements and experience earned by crafting. I also like the sense of accomplishment. I can’t really measure these aspects of crafting in terms of monetary value.
Maybe we could form a union and get an hourly wage…
I agree with the OP. I dislike the sPvP and WvWvW optional parts of Guild Wars, and I do not want to participate in them. A general achievement should not require an optional part of the game.
To the OP: If the topic was just, “I hate certain hearts” I’m right there with you. There are a few (Jotun bargaining, Ash legion sneaking) that I really, really hate. I wish there were optional hearts that granted bonuses for completion but were not required for map completion.
As to underwater hearts, I haven’t come across any I dislike, but I’ve only completed about half of the zones. I love the underwater areas, and I do not mind the 3D combat. I primarily run an elementalist and greatly enjoy my 20 skills available. I switch attunements constantly to trigger the skills best suited to the current situation. Trapping a shark in an electric cage is especially fun.
I despise it when an enemy gains “Invulnerable” for apparently no reason. This is especially bad when fighting a Veteran and they’re nearly dead when this bug kicks in.
I hope the 3D underwater combat can be improved to satisfy more players, and I hope it leads to aerial combat eventually.
Some easier way to swap weapons outside of combat would be very welcome. When swapping out dagger/dagger for staff, the main hand dagger goes into the staff’s inventory slot, but the off-hand dagger goes into the first available inventory slot (or equipment slot). So when you want to swap back, the off-hand dagger is not in a consistent location. If you have a lot of equipment, this takes some visual scanning through the inventory to find your item. If you have multiple sets of daggers for different situations, it consumes a bit of time and concentration.
It would be nice if we could have an personal weapons inventory container that all equipped items go into when we swap them out. This container would be invisible when selling items.
It would be even more helpful to bind F5-F8 to weapon swaps for the currently active weapon set. Click F5 to swap that weapon set for the current active weapon set. These functions would be disabled immediately when combat begins. Weapons bound to these functions would not be in inventory at all.
I agree, please add option to specify desired FOV. It would also be nice if we could alter camera angle (POV) in all dimensions, not just a few degrees left and right. This would be a locked angle, not the free camera option which is tedious to keep up with.
I would like to see a lot more clothing alternatives, particularly for town wear (and other threads exist for these suggestions), but I really want Alastia Crow’s outfit made available for special recipe crafting under Tailoring.
Guild: Stakin Fer Jebus [SFJ]
World: Desolation
Rank: Guild LeaderI can’t use the guild bank. Even though I have the upgrade (and could use the stash before), today the guild bank NPC says my guild has no storage.
I have the exact same issue, different world server.
I believe so. There should be a level on the item, thin its bottom left corner. aAs long as that is at least 40 then you can pop in the Major Sigils, Runes, and Gems. The next up is level 60 minimum. Doesnt matter if you are level 50 if the item itself isnt at least level 40 then it wont go in. :-o
That’s burned me then. I didn’t realize this. It would help if the rune had in its description something to that effect. Having to guess these things and experiment and search online and report as erroneous bugs wastes everyone’s time.
Purchased some Major Runes from the Trading Post to slot them into some armor pieces. Slotted fine into my Shoulder pieces, but won’t slot in my boots.
I have the same problem, but won’t slot onto any armor. Double-click on rune and hover over armor, all armor is highlighted red as invalid target for rune. Are there level requirements to meet on the armor pieces? My level is higher than rune reqs and armor reqs, but armor reqs are lower than rune reqs.
I have this issue each time with Gort, but if all players leave the cave for a short period (5 minutes maybe) the open/unusable chest closes and is usable.
I also had this issue in Lornar’s Pass with the jotun hunt, but the revealed chest was closed and could not be interacted with. After 5 minutes the chest was still closed and unusable.
