Also if i was to tick the “overrise scaling set by programes” will this make it automatically make games run at 1920 × 1080 Pixels? or shoild i just leave this unticked.
So the best option is to get a hdmi cable? Will this solve the issue? or will it just make my momitor 1080p
Also when i get to the position tab i can resize the screen only move it around and the issue is that the screen sizeways is to big.
looking at the monitor i cant find the auto-setup button is there i way i can do this manually?
Well i right clicked on the desktop, nvida controll pannel and here are the settings that came up…
aspect radio (ticked)
proform scaling on (GPU)
resolution 1920 × 1080
refresh rate 60hz
Oh, sorry its to big
Just to add i have right clicked on my desktop and set it to native settings

Well, as for the usb thing coming out the back its blue on the inside so I’m guessing it connects to the blue port at the back of the tower.
PS: Btw as for the computer specs are they all up to par (powerful)

Well all the ports that seem to be monitor related are vertical (one is white and one is blue). I am using the blue port (has a monitor picture next to it) and the components seem to be secure.

Yes the OS was installed for me before they sent it.
Um as for the port, I’m not entirely sure but the section in which the port is says “g 1 killer” so I’m guessing the Motherboard.
Thanks

Well, i bought a new custom built PC here are specs…
Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Processor 6MB L3 Cache 5GT/s Bus Speed
• Gigabyte Z77-G1-SNIPER-M3 Motherboard
• 8GB G.Skill Ripjaws-X F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL 1600MHX DDR3
• MSI NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 Graphics Card
• 1TB Western Digital Caviar Black 3.5" Hard Disk Drive
• XFX Pro 650W Power Supply Unit
When the tower came today there was an usb like cable coming out the back of the tower (I’m guessing some of you computer guys will know what this is)
any tips guys I have already sent an email to the company that built it for me but I won’t get a reply till tomorrow so I’m wondering do you guys have and tips/tricks that will help me with my issue?
(edited by zqa the monk.6094)
Well, looks like the specs are all sorted out now. As for a monitor I know you suggested a 2mm response speed but will a 5mm be ok as I’m already £100 over budget. Is there a noticeable difference?
(monitor I picked)

I don’t want to spend that much extra on an SSD but will this (link below) make a big difference in terms of how smooth things run on my computer its only an extra £50. So do you think I should swap out the caviar black for this SDD?
After letting the site do a once over, they said everything is fine but they suggested that I should get an SSD as a primary drive. Should I take their advise or are they just trying to milk me for more cash XD?
Operating system *
1. I’m guessing learning how to overclock is just a Google search away
2. As for an Op (down below) that’s all good right?
http://www.cclonline.com/product/36356/GFC-00025/Operating-Systems/Microsoft-Windows-7-Home-Premium-Retail/SFT0110/
Also if that’s all in check I’d like to thank you for all the help you have given me
Grr head is starting to hurt lol
The setup you created for me before virtual (down below) this will work perfectly fine correct on max settings on GW2 (PVE and WvW) Bf3 you know the deal? and lets say i could spend the extra £100 on the motherboard and cooler stated above should I?
• Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Processor 6MB L3 Cache 5GT/s Bus Speed (Boxed)
• Gigabyte Z77-G1-SNIPER-M3 Motherboard
• 8GB G.Skill Ripjaws-X F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL 1600MHX DDR3
• MSI NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 Graphics Card
• 1TB Western Digital Caviar Black 3.5" Hard Disk Drive
• Lian Li PC-K57B Black Lancool Series Midi Part-Mesh Gaming Chassis
• XFX Pro 650W Power Supply Unit
SO should i swap the sniper Mboard for …
And my current cooler for…

any comment on the i5 vs i7 performance wise?
Opps
Tanira, you can properly tell I have little to none computer spec building skills what so ever so would you mind finding me a suitable motherboard on top of a cooler from this site…
https://www.cclonline.com
thanks a lot by the way is there any point in getting the i7 instead of the i5 Intel core how much of a difference in performance does it have on GW2 mostly and also games like BF3 and skyrim on max setting. Apart from those 2 improvements you suggested do you have anymore(keep in mind that if the current spec setup I have after you 2 improvements will run the games stated before on max settings with ease id rather not spend anymore cash)
Thanks a bunch
Dam, thought this thread would’ve died out by now ? well I think I’m going to go for..
(ty virtual) on top of a monitor this leaves me with £30 left over of my 1k spending budget. So with this £30 are there any small improvements I can make to the list above or should I get windows 7 operating system?
You posted this just before I answered
Get a full ATX board, the sniper is fine, but it is a micro board, and expensive micro board. Z77-dh3 is a nice mainstream boards, or get a z77x board if you want it a bit more fancy.
And get a third party cooler, do it, just don’t ever think about getting a “k” CPU on a stock intel cooler!
Most tower coolers is more than enough, CM 212 EVO is a popular and cheap one, CM 412s is actually priced the same at that store, but it’s a bit bigger.

No, i mean the wires for the tower to link to the monitor and power Source est. or is that included. also i was able to keep the price under 1k i just got a cheap monitor (monitor is ok right XD?)
Acer S231HLbid 23 inch (Full HD) Widescreen LED Backlight Display
hmm with delivery im sitting at about £890
monitor is going to cost me around £130 (im guessing the monitor is not that important) and I will also need to purchase the wires (how much will they cost over all).
Thanks, yeah I think I’m gona go for the 1k build which will leave me space for a good monitor.
Do you know and sites which would allow me to fully customise the tower (and also give me a quote of the price) as http://www.cclonline.com/ has restricted customization? If not thanks for all the help
This is just a back up incise can’t find a store to build a computer for me (or they go way over buget) as I don’t trust any of my friends with £100+ cash. Also I know I suck at system building don’t worry. lol
Also are the other specs all in check?
does the GTX 550 suck or something xd or would it just be better of me spending a bit extra on the 670?
Here are the specs….
?XFX Pro 650W Power Supply Unit x 1
?TP-Link TL-WN781ND 150Mbps Wireless Lite N PCI Express Adaptor x 1
?Intel Core i7-2600 3.4GHz Quad Core Processor x 1
?Asus GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB Graphics Card x 1
?Seagate Barracuda 500GB Hard Drive x 1
?Samsung DVD RW SH-222BB/BEBE 22x SATA Black x 1
?8GB Kingston Hyper X Red Limited Edition DDR3 1333Mhz Kit x 1
?Gigabyte GA-H61MA-D2V Motherboard x 1
?CiT Imp Micro ATX Black Interior Mesh Case x 1
K guys, thanks for all the help i just need one more thing (well i hope) I’ve just spent a while customizing a computer online (they build the computer and delivery it to me) and i was wondering if yall could evaluate the specs and tell me how it would perform (first tell me how it will perform and then tell me some improvements you would make). The total cost came to £640 which comes in budget as I need to buy a monitor as well
The site I used was (down below) could anybody tell me if they have heard/used this site basically do they have a good reputation
http://www.cclonline.com/
Thanks both of you I think I’m going to copy paste the $1000 configuration which is around £700 and depending on how much it will cost for them to build the computer for me it should leave some room for a monitor. By the way just so I’m sure that 1k configuration will run GW2 on ultra settings smoothly PVE wise on top of PVP? Just want to make sure so I don’t kitten it up.
I’m not building the computer myself as I wouldn’t know where to start.
Thanks for the reply DJ I think in $ my max expenses $1500. If you could be more specific with the CPU and what I should get that would be great as I don’t really have any clue about PC parts and im guessing i will need to be specific in what I want when i go to the computer store.
Thanks again.
By the way my budget is around £500-£1k i want the computer to last atleast 2-3 years in terms of being able to run games on max settings.
I’ve been reading around on Google and the general consensus is that its best for me, to either pay a shop to build a computer for me or build it myself, well I can’t build computers so I’m guessing I’m going to have to pay a store to do it for me.
So I was wondering if any of you could post all the items that I would need to have a good gaming computer that could run GW2 on max settings with no lag and if you could go the extra mile and tell me the cost (Preferably in £ but $ is fine to) that would be amazing.
Thanks a bunch for the help guys and gals.
As you can properly tell from the topic title, I’m far from a PC spec expert but lucky for me some of you are so I’m wondering if any of you could help me out.
I’m looking into buying a new computer that will be able to handle guild wars 2 on max settings (mostly in pve because I suck at pvp)
So here are most of the specs of the computer desktop I’m thinking of buying.
Processor
• Intel® Core™ i3-2120 Processor (3.30GHz, 3MB L3 Cache, 2C)
Operating System
• English Windows® 7 Home Premium (64 BIT)
Memory4
• 6GB4 Dual Channel at 1333MHz
Hard Drive
• 1TB Serial ATA (7,200 rpm)
Video Card
• 1GB GDDR5 NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 545
Optical Drive
• DVD+/-RW (Read/Write)
So if any of you could tell me if these specs would be able to handle gw2 in all Max settings (PVE wise) and also tell me how it would handle in PVP (world vs world).
Thanks a bunch

Hi, my current computer is over 4 years old and I finally have the cash blow out of a new desktop computer I’m considering buying an x51 alien ware computer (links below) and was wondering which one of these could run GW2 smoothly on max settings (fingers crossed it’s the cheapest one).
If any of you have any other desktop computers you feel are a better choice feel free to tell me.
