Thoughts? Obsidian Sanctum overflow like EoTM… for fights and such – the points don’t matter so…
My thoughts on deplorable cannons:
(I voted no.) If they are to stay in the game, reduce the supply cost to 25, reduce the damage by 66%, remove skill 2 and 3 and give them collision so they cannot be stack built on top of each other OR remove them altogether and let us get back to fighting players, not siege.
Exploits “favoring the outmanned side” are still exploits. Its stupid not to fix them.
If we were that concerned about helping the losing side, how about we make all objectives invulnerable and remove all non-PPT scoring? That way, each server will always hold their starting keeps & towers and it’ll be a 3 way tie for first every week! Problem solved, yes?
… OR delete all structures and have just an open field where players fight other players… lel
Honestly, cannot agree with this. Gates and walls should only be destructible by siege… period. No guild upgrades. No tactics. If you want to siege a keep or castle, be prepared to fight for it, but meh, we fix one thing and break another.
So happy that this is fixed.
Let’s give this a shot! I like the sound of it but the sound and the feel – way different. Put it into a beta and make that week not count toward glicko.
Upon further research, the removal of Siegegoober, and the defense of this “tactic” (eh-heh), maybe making this siege permanent (not something you build) that is only available when your towers (and/or garri) are captured and cannot be turned (already aimed at the walls) or do not damage players (in other words, to take down the walls only) – maybe a middle ground on this could be met. Also, the fact that the player cannot be killed, pulled, ect. – that is really what makes this an exploit, imo.

It is intended. Same as water gate on green keep on EBG, always paper because if you get caught there, usually you’re dead.

I appreciate the response and all the attention the WVW has received as of late. This game type is built on communities. Thank you for supporting those communities and developing quality updates to keep the community strong.
There are many reasons this wasn’t addressed when Alpine was brought back:
- Players were genuinely nostalgic for Alpine. Virtually all demands were just for Alpine to return, with no changes. There was no outcry that it was important to change Alpine to prevent spawn trebs before bringing the map back. Had we made a change to the layout of citadel to prevent this, perhaps we’d just be seeing a different set of angry threads, those mad that "we made a change that nobody asked for, dumbing down the map and removing a perfectly valid tactic. "
Just my opinion, I think the “no changes” thing was referring to tactivators, upgrading, HOT released WVW stuff – I may be wrong but that is what I believe those comments were referring to.
- We were attempting to bring the map back as fast as possible. Players wanted to play the map immediately. Our timing for releasing on 5/3 was already extremely tight. Fixing this issue would likely have caused us to miss our release window and postponed the update for another 2 weeks.
This is appreciated. While I did not care which map we played on personally, I would rather have a populated ABL then a deserted DBL.
- This goes along with the previous points, but it wasn’t on our mind. We were just focused on bring the map back as fast as possible, in a state as close as people remembered it in.
- For the last 6 months, I’ve been told daily by players how great and well designed ABL is/was. This was our opportunity to see if they’d still feel that way, or think ABL needs additional work just like DBL.
- It isn’t/wasn’t something that needed immediate fixing, like a crash or an unconquerable objective. Players played with this exploit for years, and still had really fond memories of the map. If it turned out to be a big issue when the map was reintroduced, we could always fix it in a later release.
Since it’s clear that this is a big concern for players, we’ll fix it.
This identifies that Arenanet recognizes this as an exploit. If they decide to leave it in the game, so be it. This is my entertainment of choice.

People defending exploits…wow…, anet this is what happens when you allow this to go on.
I am not defending it, just stating that you need to find a way to take it out, that’s all. Anet will take them out when they can, then people will complain that there gone.

Build an arrow cart, treb, or ballista to destroy the offending siege. It isn’t an exploit, the siege is vulnerable to destruction, just like all siege is.
It’s no more an exploit than building trebs on the upper floors of Stonemist or building trebs inside towers to hit keeps (and vice-versa).
My argument is precisely that it’s not an exploit. How on earth could I be arguing that “[I] get an exploit if” when I don’t agree with the premise?
This is players from large population blobby servers arguing to change mechanics they they don’t like in order to adjust balance. It’s obvious why “most” disagree when it’s popular with blobfolk.

Not a L2P issue – it is an exploit and in the terms of service which you “signed” when you installed the game. Know what you are doing in all aspects of life.

Expand out the siege deployment blockade. Servers should not promote, use or encourage the building of these placements. If you see it, you should report it as an exploit until we get a fix.

Wow. Just wow. You did it. You enticed me with “new” & “challenging” content. You made a shiny map for WvW and despite all the complaining, I grew to like over the beta testing and defended while others complained. You captured my attention and my wallet by making me believe that you cared about the gametype called World vs. World. I invested $200 ($100 for me, $50 for my two son’s accounts) in your vision with some genuine interest to play your “challenging” content. … and then you do something like change the reset time for NA servers to EU prime time… G effin G. I guess servers can play for fights more than PPT and totally eff over this game type – until the next one releases – and trust me… something better will release…. but that is ok, you got that $200.

Seriously, gamers can tolerate a lot – this lag is intolerable. You should stop working on the xpac and fix this because, if this continues – you will lose players… players that will not purchase the xpac.

Team chat is different than map chat it that team chat does not get suppressed.
I love the idea of a staging area for WvW – even if it is just a zone similar to PvP only separated for servers and then have the gates for the different zones.

This is wierd. I was able to transmute using heritage stuff just fine when the game first released. I can go to the HoM, talk to the guy and get the items just fine. My accounts are linked. Password and login information match. I am able to login to both accounts. I click on the skin, drag the item over – green/green – click the button – nothing happens. I still have the skin and the item looks as it did. Any help would be appreciated. Thx.

I played GW 1 for seven years! I have EoTN. Didn’t think the patch would do this… possible that’s when it began.
I’ve seen at least one other post about the xmute issue. There was the suggestion there to unequip the item you want to xmute and then try xmuting it, haven’t tried it myself yet though.
