Are we listing classes that need Balancing or Development Time?
Because I think the number tweaks between classes are largely okay. But there are definitely certain classes that have clunkier gameplay, lackluster utility choices, awkward traitlines, buggy or buggy-seeming performance, etc.
Dev time!
in this case, i think people voting ele should think about their vote. eles dont need much dev time to revamp the profession and its mechanics. eles require more balancing.
If it just needs balancing that is ok too. Anything we do is dev time.
Basically, I want people to think ‘what class would I never play right now because it’s just not viable’ and list the top 3. That goes for all game types.

Generally speaking, it’s not hard for us to find out or know what builds are over the top. Obviously, we need to find a good middle ground to encourage people to play underused classes while balancing out the classes that are a little too dominant.
Balancing is difficult because it affects all areas of the game. This is more to get an idea of what class you guys feel is hurting the most right now, and fix it where it’s hurting. That’s not to say it will be the only thing we work on, we just want to make sure that your feedback is being heard, so we had to find a way to get it more specific and take it one step at a time.
I will be rather cheeky but why such a slow change on over-dominant builds in sPvP with outcries for a longer time (since June with very slow and rather ineffective changes). :D
And can we get more splits with more frequent updates to avoid staleness ? Some issues cannot be fixed by common balance since it would bring power-creeps in sPvP, e.g. condition buffs for PvE or the player-scales in WvW compared to sPvP. Every game-type can benefit from more splits. There are just different enviroments.
Edit: Sorry for slightly being off-topic.
1.Engineer
Turrets are absolutely awful and just barely work at the start of the game only. Not a lot of variety with Engineer builds either, it’s a pretty stale and dry player experience.

I took the liberty and counted ALL votes till svracak.9671. You guys are just too fast for me.
As it stands the results are now:
Elementalist: 230 Votes (22.66%)
Necromancer: 162 Votes (15.96%)
Engineer: 132 Votes (13.00%)
Guardian: 13 Votes (1.28%)
Warrior: 29 Votes (2.86%)
Thief: 74 Votes (7.29%)
Ranger: 299 Votes (29.46%)
Mesmer: 76 Votes (7.49%)
Total: 1015 Votes (100%)If there is any interest I could give numbers on how often a profession was ranked 1. etc.
This is awesome. I was going to do this at the end, but it’s cool to keep an updated list like this. Thanks for taking the time to do that! How often a profession is ranked 1 would also be super awesome.
Hey Allie, someone’s made a well-composed tally on page 10 with rankings etc.

Allie, can we get an in house list from the balance team too? Maybe in the end of this CDI to not alter player decisions.

- does it comprise/include GW2 enironments/modes as,
PvE,
Structured PvP,
WvW, which has duels, small scale fights, large scale fights? and more
i never got this answer from anywhere/anyone..
or Balancing is just for PvE and structered PvP modes as always?

Hey everyone,
For our upcoming CDI projects, we would like to collect your ideas for professions that need balancing. Since there are 8 professions, we would like to do one at a time and would like you to vote on which one comes first.
Please pick the three professions that you feel need the most help right now and list them in order of priority like so:
Example
1. Profession1 (this needs the most help by far)
2. Profession2 (this needs help, but not more than 1)
3. Profession3 (this needs help, but not more than 1 & 2)Please keep your post to just your 3 votes. If you have any questions, you may ask them here as well.
We will collect the information at the end of the day tomorrow (5:00pm pacific), so make sure to get your vote in before then!
Thanks!
1. Ranger (Easily by far, the WORST class and you have to do so much more to play to the level of other easy mode classes (Warrior and Guardian)
2. Engineer
3. Elementalist

2. Necromancer
3. Elementalist
Ranger
I don’t even play the ranger because I’m forced to use a pet – what if I don’t want to? It pulls aggro, putting me into combat often, and secondly, It doesn’t allow me to play how I want. Rangers have become such a joke that if you use one in WvW, you’re simply mocked. That’s how bad it is. I think rangers need some skills that allow them to benefit in zerg vs. zerg situations too.
Necromancer
When playing my necromancer I’m frustrated at the fact that if I put 5 points into death magic, you get no choice but to have a summoned minion if you kill something – what if I don’t want a minion-based build? This means I literally cannot play how I want to. Furthermore, I’ve heard of people complaining about several traits that don’t even belong in a certain trait line, and that they’re all over the place.
I think necromancers, or at least the death magic trait line, should take a leaf from Guild Wars 1, in the Soul Reaping trait department, whereby, if players die within X radius, you gain some health from those deaths – and that extra health doesn’t simply go into the death shroud health pool that I never use. This would significantly increase the likeliness of me wanting to play my necro more often. I think some of the skills in GW1 for the necro were amazing. Missed potential here.
Elementalist
I chose the Elementalist as #3 that needs fixing due to its survivability (or lack thereof). My elementalist is my main, and he’s a berserker staff ele, however I have tried going power/toughness/vitality and tried various other builds and armors but in high level areas like Orr, he just simply cannot survive no matter what I wear or do (I HAVE to use my guardian in those cases, and it’s frustrating I can’t play the way I want to because of the lack of my elementalist’s survivability). He has to be with a group of players or he might as well be quaggan food for dragons. I think elementalists need a greater health pool – perhaps an elite signet skill that increases their vitality based on a percentage of their power or something? That would be awesome.
I simply don’t understand how, one of the strongest DPS classes (warrior), can have such a HUGE health pool (35,000 and such) for such a heavy, tanky class, yet elementalists which are on par with similar or better DPS (damage doesn’t need balancing, it’s fine), but with paper-thin clothes, have little to no health, and have to either be forced into 1) max DPS and a horrible health pool, 2) sub-par damage with balanced celestial-like stats, or 3) a decent health pool and ok-defense, but abysmal damage. Whereas warriors have both insane power, and an insane amount of health. Where is the fairness in that? If anything, elementalists should have a good/decent base health pool at level 80 (17,000-20,000 or so I think would be fair), and warriors should have the same amount of health as a guardian. Not up to insane amounts like 35,000 health.
That’s my constructive criticism. Take from it what you will :-P

1. Ranger or Ele, cant choose
2. Power and turret Engi
3. Nerf Warriors to the ground plz :P
Also, could a developer give an estimate on when the changes will take place? Will it be in time for March 18?
I’m not coming back, not that you care.

2. Mesmer
3. Elementalist
1. Thief ( more of a redesign than a straight nerfs/buffs)
2. Ranger ( they need to be about more than spam)
3. Elementalist (I don’t think they are fundamentally flawed, they’re just a little weak in the current meta).

well if u think about it though. the least played classes might not get many votes, because who would vote for a class they dont play. i mean of course id give ranger a spot. all ele really needs is help in spvp, they are doing more than fine in wvw and pve. in wvw eles are part of the meta and got an important role. they got aoe dmg(meteorshower destroys every siege on walls), they got static filed for stuns and speedboosts, they got fire fields for might, they got waterfields for healing and condi cleansing. they got access to stability and more, but in spvp staffele is not that great and d/d ele in general got hit too hard, so yes spvp ele needs help, not wvw ele though
i main a mesmer and no im not happy with it at all. but people will not think of the mesmer needing buffs because all they see is the 1v1 mesmer in duels.yes, we are great in 1v1 and duels, but we are a light armor class and have no aoe!
they dont see the wvw veilbot. but i do and im sick of it.
u guys made a statistic of which classes are played the most and im sure not much has changes sinceapart from ranger moving further down and guardian moving higher up:
