In sPVP, everyone can “reset” a fight. Without stealth, you are transported back to your spawn point first. With stealth, you can stick around a little closer and maybe get back into the fight a little sooner. Either way, you’re out of action for a little while.

Of course if you reset using stealth, then your opponent won’t experience the joy of stomping you right before you take your time-out. But that’s a problem only if you mistakenly assume that the purpose of sPVP is to rack up stomps.

Believe it or not, stomping DOES make a difference, thats 5 points per stomp. Stealth pretty much ensures that you never or barely ever get stomped, and if you use SR then it also goes to your team. Also, killing an opponent which sends him back to respawn and just making him retreat for a few seconds is NOT the same. A downed person will have the respawn timer on top of walking time, a person who resetted the fight will avoid all that and re-engage at full or almsot full health. If you cant see the strength on that and the fact that only one class can reliably do this all the time then you most probably dont understand the basic of sPvP scoring and strategies.

LOL as always bad players whining about thieves because they simply refuse to learn how to play. you can’t kill a thief? either he is a better player than you or you are simply bad although i main a thief i also 1 of each classes including 3 warriors and 2 engis .

I kill thieves on each and everyone of my classes ( easiest ones to do it being engi , necro , warrior and mesmer ) heck i do so even on my longbow ranger because ….well i have a brain and have adapted to thieves in the 2 years the game has been out.

But of course most of you whiners wouldn’t bother to adapt you’d rather whine on forums so Anet ( who unfortunately has been listening to you ) would hold your hands and nerf whatever class you’re struggling against so they can be free bags for ya.

Sadly I don’t think it will. The vast majority of the complaints seem to be WvW related. ’Cause you know… solo roaming in WvW matters and needs to be balanced asap.

Ugh, that screenshot proves nothing. Glassed thieves are all about damage. I can guarantee you, if every player were of equal skill, backstab would struggle to take the top.

Sadly I don’t think it will. The vast majority of the complaints seem to be WvW related. ’Cause you know… solo roaming in WvW matters and needs to be balanced asap.

WvW was never meant to be balance >_<, why can’t people get that, you can’t balance when you have the kitten like guard leech, food buffs, bloodlust, it was design to be not balance

The only thing that bothers me about thieves is being able to stealth stomp. Same goes for eles and their mist form stomp. As a necro, we can DS stomp, but it’s a bug/exploit and requires a GM trait to be only halfway viable.

Dealing with stealth classes (and pvp in general) is as much “getting into your opponents head” as it is dealing damage.

As for the comment about necros being overpowered, with all of our mobility issues and severe weakness to CC, it’ll take me some considerable time to stop laughing before I can form a coherent response

Ok thief is a predator like class. Big damage is part of the play style I understand that.
The main problem I think is they could maintain anything forever thanks to traits related to stealth. Health, initiative, clear condis (they got the best condi remove in the game btw).
They just hide and they return to combat when they feels like and fully regened. When you fighting with them you find yourself in a never ending loop of combat which is very boring and annoying.
The only thing could be good against them is the most hated skill in the game: Moa:)

Who cares if they stealth… they can’t cap when stealthed, can’t deal damage if they want to maintain it, and can still receive damage. Best cond removal in the game? No… just… no.

I feel that the thieves attackspeed compared to the other professions is simply too high. A 10-20% reduction would allow other professions the little leeway they need to defend as it sits now we get attacked 3 times when we dodge and 2 of ’m hit and one of ’m gets dodged. Then when we decide to strike back we get hit 5 times when we attack once.

But the number of actually decent thieves is quite low and only when I got staff zerker ele do I stand absolutely no chance against ’m. The real problem is when two of ’m jump you at the same time stealth-rezzing is also an issue.

The problem with thiefs for me is the instant gap closers they have along with the iniciative mechanic.
You are able to “guess” one gap closer and dodge it and right away they do it again with the same skill. Their iniciative mechanism is too forgiving and allow the use and abuse of blinds / ports.

the only teleporting gap closer we can use repeatedly is a projectile (doesn’t teleport unless it hits), and a targeted shortbow skill. and if a thief just used them twice, chances are they’re rather low on initiative when they reach you.

thief has lots of teleports, but few of them are “spammable”. they’re actually too expensive to use more than 2 or 3 times without putting yourself in a bad situation (sure, you reached the enemy, except now you can’t attack or stealth. good job)
