Few people play female Charr
I’ve seen a fair few, but not by a large margin compared to males… oh well, player pref, all comes down to it.
Kharnja doesn’t know much about it, killing stuff too much lately. ;P
Tengu. Make it happen.
Same thing happens on my server (Aurora Glade). There’s an army of male Charrs and a small team of female Charrs.
But the number of Charrs (from what I’ve seen) in my server is quite low in itsel so I make a point of greeting and going “yey another Charr!” whenever I get one in a dungeon party xD
As a girl irl, I like all my characters to be female. I tried a male human but I didn’t really like it. Also I seem to hate the human race in all games I play. I see humans everyday (and i don’t like most of them) I don’t need to stare at one on my games too. And the human female voice is hideous imo. Especially on the necro, when she makes those comments when the minions die.
I have 3 female charrs, 2 female norns and 1 female human (which I’m going to kill and make another female Charr in her place).
My main is Malgraw, the lvl 80 Guardian, healing build and my second main is my ranger Redbell, also lvl 80 and precision build.
I’m trying to get all my Charrs cultural armor (because it’s something you can’t see on other races) and get them the Legionnaire weapon set (the weapons all Charr NPC use, including the Flame Legion).
I’m “a bit” obsessed with the Charr and their culture. I always go for the “animal” race in games and I love steampunk and war based nations <3
I’m even drawing some new characters and making up stories for them, it’s quite fun and some of my guildies support me on that ^.^ If you do a lot of WvW you probably know it Blood Always Spills [DRIP]
I really don’t get why people like humans so much really. When I go to my norns or human (bleh) I always miss my tail and the way I run on my Charrs xD
I’m a proud owner of a female charr mesmer. Normally I play female human characters in all games but GW2 animation and doll-like faces really put me off. After watching my lowbie thief yawn and stretch for the 20th time in 5 minutes (go take a nap if you are so sleepy!) I deleted her and tried to roll something really exotic for a change.
That’s a picture of her escorting a dolyak in WvW. I’ve changed Sarasti’s appearence since then – made her taller, meaner, and gave her Rox’s awesome horns while trying to keep the original cute-but-fierce character.
Tarnished Coast
…the Legionnaire weapon set (the weapons all Charr NPC use, including the Flame Legion).
That annoys me… they have their own set of weapons, they even drop them all over the place when they get killed, but visually they just use the same legionnaire stuff. Wut.
It is a bit of a shame there aren’t more. My one Charr is male (as being a guy, I roll male characters first), but if I ever get a sixth character slot, it’s definitely going to be a Blood Legion female warrior.
I definitely appreciate a race where the females look as fierce as the males, and don’t look like strippers in 90% of the armor sets. GW2 is a bit better about offering non-stripper armor set choices for human/norn/sylvari females, but there’s still far too many for my taste (luckily medium armor has the least, and my one female human is an Engineer). I’m really glad GW2 did Charr female justice and didn’t try to go the horrible route that WoW went with bestial races.
Of course with charr, the tradeoff is that they look bad in 90% of the armour instead… even stuff designed for them in some cases. How they left clipping issues and that silly puffed up look on the CoF medium and T3 cultural light armour is quite mysterious.

Hah, true enough. It’s a shame they didn’t design more unique skins for the Charr.

I recently rolled a female Charr Engineer, and I’m loving her to bits. Dakka Boomclaw is all about the bullets and the bombs!

My Mesmer is a female charr. It;s much easier to tell where your clones are when you’re the only cluster of purple charr on the battlefield.

done by now.”
All my characters ended up being female charr. Wasn’t my original intention, but I loved the charr personal story quests so much, and I wanted to experience all the different stories that it just ended up that way. I also really like the way charr females are portrayed in this game. Tough and able to fight right up along side their male counterparts. They’re really no different than male charr really.
That, and I think ANet did such a fantastic job on the charr female models that its kinda hard imagining myself playing anything else at this point. I don’t particularly like any of the male faces so I’ve never been interested in rolling a male charr. I think my next character is going to be a ranger. A female charr of course.

I have a female charr, but I may delete her as I don’t really enjoy the class (engineer). I’m not sure ‘ll make another charr if I do. The main reason is aesthetic but it’s not her face. I dislike the bounciness of the 4-legged run and I think the 2 legged one looks worse because the charr looks like she is facing sideways. Armour doesn’t look good either, at least medium: perhaps a heavy armour class would be the answer.
Yet I’ve enjoyed some of the charr stories I’ve seen more than I have for some of the others. I think the Black Citadel looks amazing and some of the best music is around the charr starting area. But that won’t be what I spend most of the time doing, so the appearance does count in the long term. I would not be any more likely to make a male charr as I normally create female characters.

Lol love how the hyena also gets the Anet tag

It’s a weapons-drawn thing, they’re keeping their off-hand (or the pointy end of the rifle, the handle of the bow, etc.) more forward. It makes sense if you imagine all charr are right-handed and they’re running like this when they’re about to attack something. If you toggle run off you walk ‘straight’ and stay upright, so it’s not like they just have twisted spines or anything.
Oddly enough, there’s even an upright running animation with a straight torso – NPCs run like this instead of the bounding thing. I expected it would happen if I equipped no weapons and ran ‘holding’ them, but instead, the game just freaks out and makes the arms look weird.
I really wish they’d do something to standardise that, it seems really out of place having players run one way and NPCs another.
I have a female Charr – unfortunately, I made her a guardian, and I just don’t enjoy that profession. However, seeing that I did the first couple of story missions quite often (beta), plus I don’t like the starter zone much…concentrating on other characters ^^°
Willa wasn’t my main, but I believe now she may be. While not many play female Charr, they usually look amazing and generally speaking, I prefer them over most male Charr.
These pics are recent, Willa’s evolution since I first posted a pic of her a long time ago. She is “beautiful” to me and makes the game quite a joy to play. (Armor is T2 all except Pauldrons (T3) and boots (T1, which I deemed a better match with T2’s legs. I just like T2’s slimmer style-minus those huge pauldrons-and do not like the bulkiness of Rytlock style armor; the Dreadnought Pauldrons, however, are superior to any other, IMHO.)

As I already have, yeah, he told me.
Not to stray from the topic though (I intended to comment myself, but then I saw the pic and actually forgot about the original reason I’m here x)), I see more female Charr lately than before. Males still outnumber them, but females are considerably less rare, atleast from what I’m seeing. I’m thinking Rox’s horns being available has something to do with it :x

And as an added bonus, they’re huge and obscure much more of the battlefield than you’d get from another race.
(Two charr mesmers at 80 before I get any non-charr characters past level 10… I think I might be fixated.)
I think I’ve only seen one player use that model so far…

I find it bothersome that you’re wearing cultural armor. Charr have a huge problem with armor choices (especially medium armor).

A huge problem such as? Personally I think both the T1 and T2 medium cultural peices are amazing looking. My engi rocked the T1 set for the longest time.
My one gripe about cultural Charr armor is the fact that tails clip through the T3 cloth.

That’s exactly the problem. The only good armor on Charr is the cultural armor and it’s sad to see that Anet devs see it that way as well.
I play a Female Charr Ranger, and I think she looks baddass!
(Any Greatsword suggestions though, besides Twilight/Greatsaw?)
I’m quite fond of the Adamant Guard Greatsword (T3 cultural). There’s a lot of interesting skins out there for the greatsword, though.

heh. It’s cool to see a dev’s character. Wonder if I could ever run into her doing Ascalonian Catacombs.
Turns out I’m one who just likes playing female charr. Had the option to go male on my ranger, even with a look I liked. Rolled female anyway.
Shimar, Donata Ironmind, Aerianwen
My guess would be it’s because charr lack the eyecandy that people like (guys like to see boobs on their characters), so people will go with whatever’s coolest instead. Charr males look fiercer than the females, and are therefore ‘cooler’, hence the big difference between male and female charr players.
I personally went for both male and female charr characters. I like them pretty equally. My male charr is cooler, my female charr is somewhat cute.

Sir Chompers is an invaluable asset to the Dev team – he keeps the office kitchen floors clean by scavenging things that get dropped, and chases off those pesky zebra who try to snack on our cereal bins.
I have two female charr.
A blood legion warrior that supposedly should look like a tiger, and an ash legion thief who should look as close as possible to a Siamese cat (everyone knows Siamese cats are the swat, black ops, ninjas and spies of the animal kingdom).
They use the same armors with little variation and have many faces you wouldn’t see on males, so for many combinations you just have to make a female.
Look at the bright side, your race… has very few traps.
My race, Humans… Don’t even get me started.

this is because, char are fundementally different animals from humans/norn/sylvari The truth is a lot of charr gear doesnt look quite right on humanish races and vice versa.
I honestly think they should have more race specific gear, or at least charr and asura should get some different ones. This may also solve some issues with some existing armors that they havent used, probably because it doesnt work with an asura, or a charr, or a human.
My main is my proud female Charr Engineer. As an alt, I also have a female Charr Warrior. I’m on Dragonbrand; I don’t pay much attention to races since the people I play with are usually humans… Next thing I know, I’m stuck up a tree… I’ve done that before in another game… Meanwhile, I don’t mind the voice for the female Charr although my characters’ attitudes always seemed a bit stuck-up.
I would like to have more armor that looks good on Charr, medium pants mostly looks all the same as well. For right now my chest-piece on my main is the closest to what I want and my warrior’s chest-piece sticks out like a sore thumb (Ascalonian Catacomb token armor).
I play on OP’s server as well (Desolation) and I don’t really see many Charr in general but I’d say the ones I do see are about 50/50 male/female.
As a female myself I like to play female characters almost exclusively as I feel I can identify with them more. I made a female Charr because I like to play as the bestial races in games and I find human(ish) races to be so boring.
I just love playing races that’re as far away from the human norm as I can. Which was the case as a Tauren/Draenai/Panda and with the Khajiit/Argonians.
I think ANet got female Charr perfect in not just making a slimmer male model and sticking boobs on it like certain other companies. coughBlizzardcough
Edit: Forgot to mention, if you see a Black/Tan lady warrior Charr named Shamutanti, feel free to say hey
I made a Charr female thief and I absolutely adore her My only problem is that male and famale gear look the same (same as with asuras). I still want my Charr to have a bit of the feminine look :P
I actually thought male and female looked the same since so many of female faces looks kinda male. Then I checked male Charr settings and saw the difference was quite huge.

Well there’s a lore explanation for that – in Charr culture there is no differentiation between male and female armor, intentionally so. They (excluding Flame Legion of course) view men and women as equals – in combat and otherwise – so clothing and armor is based on functionality, not femininity.

My highest-level character is a burly female Charr warrior and unlike a lot of people here I actually adore the voice acting. :s but yeah I rarely see Charr on my server and I think I might be the only female charr I’ve seen there yet. My second-highest-levelled is a male Charr engie- Runty, with one of the less grizzled-looking faces though.
I play an Ash Legion Engineer . Female with a snow leopard in mind ( i’m male in real life). Imo , the barbarism and macho-thing on males is a bit too exaggerated , and the faces are horrible.
