It’s kind of interesting to me that this has come up quite a few times. It hadn’t even occured to me before, but, yeah, really. I mean, I have a Charr character. He’s an Engineer called “Mister Chargue”, and he’s as big and as loud as possible, because I just sort of assumed that that’s what you make a Charr character for. I hadn’t even considered that female Charr served as a viable alternative if you did not want to be obnoxiously big and loud, but that would make sense.

Oh, I DO want “big and loud” all right. :p My charrior is max-bulk (but not max-size because of the literally nauseating camera issues in this game) and I just adore looking at her. I wish the female charr voice was deeper, snarlier. The thing is that while some of the female charr are a bit too “cute”, many of the males are just grotesquely deformed. When someone’s teeth are a tangled mess that by rights should mutilate half his own darn face even when only breathing, nevermind talking or eating, I don’t think “ooh, wicked!” — I point and laugh and shake my head. That is what I meant by “trying to hard to be mean and scary”, and why I like the female tiger-like and lioness-like faces best of all charr options for either gender. they’re plenty badarse/bestial while also being “realistic” in terms of not getting in the way of their own survival.

I have the same reaction to over-the-top “cool” armor and weapons as well as heavily sexualized characters and skimpy gear. The harder they try, the more attention they try to draw to it, the more it backfires.

Charr are an awesome race and Charr females are even more awesome. It’s a pity people don’t play them more.

I’ve honestly never counted them. Most of my charr characters are female though, as I find their looks and voice less over-the-top.

I agree on the looks. The charr females are a fantastic example for well designed “beast people” while most of the male options seem designed to try way too hard in the “LOOK AT ME! I’M MEAN AND SCARY!” department. It’s hard for me to consider them mean or scary seeing as how they live in constant danger of serious self-mutilation by their own teeth. :p Trying too hard like that inevitably backfires and turns me off hard, be it in terms of scary, evil, cute, “manly” or “sexy” or whatever. It becomes a caricature.

The female charr voice could use more oomph, though. It’s not exactly the sort of voice that I could imagine bellowing orders across the din of a chaotic battlefield. (Maybe I’m doing the VA a disservice there; it’d help if our character actually had a chance to bellow orders like that now and then.) I’d like it to be deeper and with a bit more of a growl and military briskness to it when called for.

There’s a few faces for the males that I actually find a little less scary and I could almost say “sexy” or “cute”, at least, as far as it goes without them trying to rip your ear off with they’re teeth if they whisper to you. The few male faces I’ve seen that are in that category happen to have smaller fangs/teeth than the others, which I’ve come to realize, actually looks good because otherwise the males have these stalactites protruding from their mouth, and with some characters I feel like I could be impaled by them.

And as for me, I have my main as my now level 80 Female Charr Necro. I absolutely love playing her, and I love her. I wouldn’t change her design for a moment, though she’s the more dignified caring Charr, where as my other Charr Female, a Ranger, is a bit of a spitfire, more ferocious and likes to let off jokes once and a while. I love both of them more than anything, and I do think it’s unfortunate that the ratio of female to male Charr is so low, as well as the ratio of male to female Sylvari, though I haven’t gotten the chance to play a male one just yet. This is my main girl below Female irl as well .p. who says girls don’t game huh?

Personally think the voice is awesome and is a perfect combination of feminine aspects and ferocity! Love playing female Charr.

Most charrs that play are either Female or Male either way they all look Scary/Ugly or Manly.

I prefer actually trying to ATTEMPT to look female, I say I have done rather well.

Anyways, here’s my two main charr gals.

First is my Warrior charr; Lyness Bloodfang in the Tier 2/3 heavy armor mixture.

Next is my Thief charr; Nyte Claw. The last pic is her w/o her hood. And her armor is custom made with different armor parts that I come to love.

personally i like fem charrs better then male charrs: i got 3 gals that i play on
first my primary (elementalist) fera whitemist (armor is starting fire elemental helm, inquest shoulders, t3 cultural chest, winged gloves from crafting,priory leggings, and t2 boots; back peice is suncatcher)
my guardian claire starbrazier (armor is hidden helmet radiant gloves/shoulders, HotW dungeon token chest,vigil leggings/boots)
and my warrior seranna razorblade (armor is T3 cultural helm, hidden shoulders, braham’s chest/gloves, pit fighters leggings, and T3 boots)

If they added the actual masquarade pvp armor to pve wed have a very good caster armor for charr female and male

my female charr Kiara Razormane the idea for the armor seleccion was to be slighty roleplaysh xD, as a cub she was touched by the dragons magic, wich made her grow up with wings (hence why she cant wear chest armor) and dragon claws

I’m still leveling mine, so this isn’t her final outfit, but it’s nice to show off how great that Mesmer mask looks on a Charr girl.

It’s the first time I decided to keep a starting gear as part of a character’s end-game outfit. It just looks so cool on her.

(She has one of the more peaceful faces, too, so I imagine she wears it to “look” tougher. Which fits a Mesmer. :p )

I also play a female Charr and one thing that I’ve noticed is that I never see other Charr that have a Cheetah look to them. Any other Cheetah Charrs out there?

2. Shoulders float

Anyways, I did come up with a cool Medium combination with a surprisingly pleasant lack of clipping OR floating shoulders!

Coat: Priory <—- this is the most important piece

I enjoy seeing well made female charr. I have seen some ugly ones but most the time i snap kitten of them and add them to my Blog as well as others who make me stop in the middle of an event >>.

I really hope ANet does something about the floating shoulders. Not all skins float, but the majority do, and badly. I have the shoulders turned off on most of my female Charr (I have four).

I typically play Human Males in all RPGs, so I guess I’m sexist/racist. I actually made a Warrior Charr and I play him more than my Human Guardian, so I guess I’m just sexist :/

Am i alone to have noticed Lynx face has a cliping issue with the botom teeth? This face would be infinitively cuter if the middle teeth didnt actualy ’’clip’’ out of the bottom lips. If you need any proof take a look at nekomimi pics… I do also have the face on my character and altrought its wonderful to look at it could be even better with no teeth cliping

I think all the new faces across both sexes have clipping issues. Compared to some, that one is pretty minor. I do hope they fix it all though. In the mean time, be glad you don’t have to deal with Rytlock-syndrome teeth XD

Transmute it onto a white (lowest tier) helmet so it becomes unbound. Then transmute the white item onto whatever you want. So you may need more than one transmutation crystal depending on what you did with the headband originally.

Or you can wait until patch and then can do it with one charge (I assume).

Finally got around to making my charr warrior. The goal was a “wise, veteran” warrior look that could for example be just as at home in the Vigil as she is in the Priory.
