I love how we got so far under some surmian’s skin’s that they have to follow us around like puppies to every match-up we get into and bark out something mundane any chance they get. It’s cute.

That aside, to repeat what’s already been said it’s clear we aren’t going to win this one. That didn’t stop myself or plenty of others from showing up last night and doing our best and at several times last night our tick was respectable. I’ll be in again today at some point to keep fighting. I’ve been impressed with the attitude of Piken Square poster’s so far and if that’s the sort of attitude that’s common on that server then I’ve got a healthy dose of respect for them. They also have some very powerful guild groups. When we took Bay in their BL last night [FG] (I hope I’m remembering that correctly) came to clean up the mess for Piken. A very large group of Riverside also showed up, no doubt hoping to take advantage of the fight between Piken and ourselves.

Well… I watched in horror from the ramparts as [FG] and some others that were along for the phat lewtz turned from the door and engaged this Riverside force twice their size and annihilated them. Then they smashed open that door like it was a thin sheet of cardboard and proceeded to turn us into the tyrian equivalent of porridge.

Concerning Riverside, I would say it’s unjustified to claim they just hole up in their keeps and arrow-cart anything to death that dares to come close. I mean, they do this yes, but I’ve had plenty of open battles last night with them too. Some which we even won and plenty more which we lost. Their prime-time force was more powerful than ours though, and it’s clear they have a powerful off-peak team as well when one looks at the points this morning.

You’re both servers to be reckoned with. I don’t think we’ll be able to give you a proper challenge although hopefully the RNG God’s will roll their dice and give you a more competitive match-up next week.

To be honest though I’m enjoying this match-up immensely and hopefully I and other Gunnar’s will be to introduce you to our hammers several times this week despite the disproportionate levels of strength between the servers involved.

I didn’t know we were so godly to climb so many tiers in just one night. Wow.

I was on just at reset and haven’t been able to see any kind of small fights (the smallest one I’ve been in was in our BL 5 of us against 10, and we won :P ), but zerg everywhere.

Well, everyone already know we have not enough coverage and our www population is highly fluctuating, but we are not blind and can still distinguish between honorable fighters who are just plain superiors in skills and numbers, and hordes of cowards who take advantage of a weakened foe to feel “how great they are”.

It’s my opinion that what you do in virtual worlds pretty much defines your true self, after all it is you behind the keyboard, and if similar circumstances where to happen in RL you would -most probably- act the same way.
So, basically, if you are fair and honorable ingame, there is an high probability that you are so in real life; this also means that if you consistently act dishonorably ingame, there is an high probability that you are a despicable being in RL.

But its an effed up matchup anyways, especially for Gunnar. But let’s just make the best of it. And stop bragging about things. You maybe think it makes you look like a big shot, but in reality it only makes people think you’re immature and tripping on ego. Same thing with complaining about the same thing over and over again. Just say it once and make sure you do some self-reflection first to make sure you’re not accusing your enemy of something you do as well.

Dw from RS pretty much run solo, if find it in a blob is a rare occassion, they are a good guild, they also do Gvg if you asked them, there is DTK that sometime run solo, the rest is a blob and AC, RS got better from like 1-2 months ago but is still numbers numbers with very few occassion.
When we fight with riverside usually is just arrow cart fire all week long, great morning cap server, decent night force.

So… Even their siege can zerg?

Every good riverside player as 100 points in arrowcart for the Mobile instant deloyed version.
Also every riverside player has atleas 20 arrowcarts at all time with him. so he can set up some kitten inside a hile or so.

Has it ever occured to anyone that Anet actually made this matchup on purpose to try to lure Riverside out of their keeps and have some fun with the rest of us?

I mean its pretty obvious. If you want to lure someone out, you need easy bait.

Maybe both Piken and Gunnar should just take off all armour and /dance naked in front of Riverside keeps to play like Anet intended us to play?

no you would not, at least I hope not because it would be stupid…. Dying is only fun with people you know. We aint have a problem with wiping 2 hours if we know that the people playing with us put in the same afford as we do.
So next time you stand outside a keep you may ask yourself if there is by any chance some organization behind it or just a lot of duds that are bored and wanna defend riverside keeps while eating a huge bucket of popcorn

Even if we can compete at primetime (where I hope we can get some good fights) our offpeak coverage is nonexistant – even by T7 standards – so we have no chance of competing with PS on points.

But that’s to be expected so we’ll just do what we can. Play like we did against RoS when they got their mass transfers and just look for fights and not objectives

I doubt people actually care about that point system when playing wvw. They just want to have a fair fight, have some fun and a fair chance of winning. This week is major fail from Anet for GH. The amount of people Riverside can field all day/night long we don’t even have for 1 of the maps, think the income score of +60 to max +110 proofs enough. People talking about fun and learn something about it. Sure, we capture 1 castle on tkitten map then the big blob zerg shows up and captures it back within 6 minutes. How is that fun? This situation only causes people to play less WvW.

If you have to deal with two servers attacking you almost every week, you tend to build on the cautious side. You also develop a sense of score before bashing brains for lootbags.

Besides, siege weapon overcompensation has always been a Riverside thing. Just ask Vizu.

We will be active in this matchup from sunday onwards and running without commander tag to minimise friendlies following as usual, good to see GH again.

As usual looking to make the week less tedious etcetera. I will be sneaking around with my usual supply of Boxes of Fun. You Piken people seem nice, so you will be getting the majority I think. Watch out for them outside your keeps and towers.

As for all my characters being built for group play, offering duels is pointless, unless you want to be kited by my staff Ele for a few hours. As such, I’m quite happy to accept offers of dance offs, outfit ofc will be taken into account. The more garish the better.

Meeting new people from other servers is always the highlight of my week.

RS is quite boring to fight against. They blob AND they flash build siege just about anywhere. =/

GH is giving a lot better fights even tho being a low tier server.

I actually quite enjoyed fighting them last week. We didn’t really make much effort cap stuff off them though so didn’t really have to deal with the ac spam (siege bug prob helped too) but we really didn’t have much trouble getting fights from them away from keeps.
Nah honestly they’ve gotten a lot better and a lot more fun to fight and dw are one of the more fun and decent groups of people in the game. Think you might get a pleasant surprise on piken if you give them the chance.

Did you even bother to look at the screenshot? There’s already 15 PS from right side of pic to the dead RS player marker. It’s more like 60-70.

I have to say I love this matchup. As for now, it is actually very roaming-friendly, which was quite unexpected. Maybe it’s because main forces battle for wooden keeps and small group of 4-5 can take that stray tower (which was much harder in lower tiers)?

About Riverside:
Firstly, it is not true that Riverside has no roamers. Our roaming party of 3-5 (depends on time) met some Riverside groups which matched our size; sometimes we were the larger force.

Secondly, Riverside definitely has skilled and good players, even if some players I met were… not so good. I admit, it is the first time ever that 2 players hesitated to jump into the camp 2 of us were taking over (20 seconds till tick; even if they were naked they would stop us), but our roaming party met some groups from Riverside which matched us in skill (and might have been better).

As a roamer, I am not going to talk about ‘larger groups’, as I simply avoid those.

About Piken:
You have some very skilled players; nothing else to be expected. Some nice roaming groups, brave and bloodthirsty players and, sadly, you sweep Bay for mesmers ;-).
Many of my real-life friends are on Piken, as well as many players I admire and learned from. I hope to be able to meet you and try to slaughter you <3.

For now, I must settle for terrorizing you and casting fear in your hearts (read: trying to get that single camp 5 minutes before tick ;-) ).

About GH:
I am very glad that communication in mapchat improved. We stepped up, calling targets and splitting forces to get something 5 minutes before a tick. “We go Arah. We go Vale. Crag is wooden, let’s try it”. Honestly, even if this is the only thing we get out of this matchup, we have already learned a lot.

Is this some sort of ploy from ArenaNet to do matchups like this, so 2 servers would have to basically cooperate against a zerg server to mix things up or what?

I don´t think it is the case, but one wonders what would happen if that very thing would take place…

Considering I was the commander leading those people inside Hills this afternoon that screenshot is very biased and I think you know exactly why.

Firstly, the reason there was that many players there is for two reason:
1) I was the only commander present
2) Hills was the last objective on the map to take

What your screenshot fails to show is your two groups you had inside that keep. If I remember correctly and judging from your screenshot there is three commanders. One of which was leading [IF] with atleast 30 players and a second commander was leading friendlies with roughly around the same size. You had inner filled with arrowcarts and ballista on the walls.. so let’s say we did outnumber you, since that was all superior siege it pretty much made up for the missing of numbers ( if any ).

I actually enjoyed the fight in Hills, it was a long fight with alot of classes between both parties which ended up ultimately in our defeat. Your inner wall was on 5% and you managed to pull off a good last stand that gave you time to repair it. You know how to defend and I respect that. I just think your foolish posting one-sided screenshots like that.

Lots of smallscale action all day long, really liked it.

Hi, I do not normally comment on forum for WvW, and I am only a casual interloper for our server(GH); but I have had an amazing amount of fun in the last 2 days both in EB and in our BL. Facing off against superior numbers and, often, tactics we cannot hope to hold against, has been a blast. Yes, I have died a few times (lots..;-)! But we have held, pushed back and left plenty of RS lying down in our trail. Good fights against Piken too (the roving small man groups I met are well co-ordinated and devastating to my ranger if I am solo). But we have matched up evenly when group met group. Yes we are out-numbered; Yes we will lose! YES! I will be there tonight at some time to try again/punish you for being in our BL. Some of us will keep up the fight (even if it is only part-time), and try to give you some challenges.
