TL;DR – DH had 3 solid weeks to recoup after their one match against HoD in Week 3 and had some pretty strong momentum going into this match. SF lost momentum after their two back-to-back matches against HoD in Weeks 4-5 and wasn’t able to recoup that lost momentum before this match.

Also, DH only had 1 sure-loss (as they only faced HoD only once), while SF had 2. Schedule wasn’t at SF side aswell…

Anets schedule making was the worst I’ve ever seen.

While DH had only 1 sure loss to HoD, remember the last match before seasons began FC was beating DH by 60k points so we really could have gone 0-3 the first 3 matches but we managed to beat FC in week 2 in the final hours giving us 1-2 start. So you could have made the argument that when seasons started DH had 5 matches they could have lost easily.

Yeah, I actually feel pretty bad for SF. That’s a real crappy spot to be in, if nothing else leagues were a good indicator of what our servers are potentially capable of.

I think you missed the point Jeknar was trying to make.

Out of the eight non-HOD bronze league servers, five of them had two sure-losses against the league’s heavy hitter twice (or in the case of FC, 3 times). Only two of those five servers (SF and FC) were forced to face against that heavy hitter in two back-to-back match-ups.

Three of the non-HOD bronze league servers only had to face against HoD once. DH was one of those servers.

DH had a bit more of a favorable league schedule than SF (as well as all the other bronze league servers who had to face HoD twice or more this season).

Reading the chart on a 24hr scale 12am should be 00 with 12pm at 12 you can also confirm it with the millenium site.

you guys are all forgetting when DH faced SF and IOJ for 5 weeks straight (pre-seson) and took 1st place every time. what made you think the outcome between DH and SF would be any different during the season?

ya but SF never once took 1st place in any of those matches. nor will they on this match.

GoM is problably being “Fractured” atm… It happened a lot in the past on other major PvE events. I won’t be surprised if even DR surpass GoM this week.

AR is a lot different, trust me. We recently fought them and they put up a serious fight. Totally different server. I’m not at all surprised they’re giving GoM a run for their money.

Lol WvW gets the short end of the stick whenever new content is released… ugh. Darkhaven knows what it’s like to have your pop disappear come patch day lool.

(A godsend for me if so as I still lagg behind in that area.) 1 gold, 2-3 junky rares and a bunch of salvage? New fangled never before seen weapon skins? Minis? A dozen stacks of a usable multi-target bouncing stun inducing cog like the old days before they removed it, only a version that does 25, 000 damage crits and breaks the game?

Only time will tell, but I guess we can probably expect to be disappointed.

I really hope the dolyak is the only difference between server rewards. I’m half expecting them to reward higher placed servers better. Darkhaven gets number 2 so it might be better for me, but I think it’d be a very bad choice.

I’d be fine with every server getting the same reward, with the winning servers just getting bragging rights for their placements. A lot of people don’t care about bragging rights, they prefer loot. People have been complaining since the game started that there wasn’t progress in wvw and there was no benefit to winning your match. So they brought out leagues and gave us chests based on the performance in the league. People like to chase their shineys.

Congratulations to HoD and all the other servers who played in the bronze league.

I’m sure everyone who completed the meta will get a reward typical of a meta achievement. Whatever ‘bonus’ on top of that based on server rankings is a lose/lose. IF it’s too good it will encourage more transfers for S2 if it sucks people will cry in their cheerios.

We wouldn’t say the same thing because IoJ and NSP didn’t tank.

Even though NSP and IoJ were definitely stronger than HoD. We haven’t been able to beat NSP yet for a couple months now. But with the season bursting our WvW community to life and more people came out to play. We can’t wait to fight NSP and IoJ.

And I wouldn’t call getting stomped by Ebay tanking. I would call it being stomped by Ebay.

NSP started to tank for a couple days of their last pre-season match and it was causing server drama so they turned it around and player hard for 5 days to ensure they were in silver. Some accused KN of tanking but their fall was definitely not intentional or planned.

I won’t blame HoD for tanking because NSP or IoJ would also have gone undefeated. The issue here is that Anet didn’t lock in server rewards until the very last minute, which did not allow time for the rating system to adjust to all the transferring.

The solution for this is to announce the season well in advance and lock in the server rewards 3-4 weeks ahead of time, then add a pre-season meta achievement so people actually play during those 3-4 weeks instead of tank or manipulate ratings. These 3-4 weeks will allow ratings to become more accurate before the schedule is finalized.

I wish people would look at facts instead of going on what other people have said.

IF you bother to look at our score income during the week where we were considered “Tanking”, you would notice that our score income was pretty consistent and stayed above Kaineng most of the time.

Now when NSP attempted to tank and admitted that did so, you can see a definite score income drop during the time they did. That is what a tanking attempt would look like. Now NSP decided to go ahead and move forward to Silver. Although I wouldn’t say they “fought hard” to get into Silver since it was a relatively easy match up for them.

Consider that our score income was relatively consistent throughout that match up, and we beat Kaineng which we had lost to in the match up the week before.

HOD as a server did not tank. I was flipping keeps till the way hours of the morn on the last day of that old league with fellow HOD members against numbers far greater then ours.

Some people on HOD felt this was counterproductive and did not do much to help but it was hardly an entire server or even a majority.

HOD numbers were never as great as CD or NSP or others that are in Silver all of which had a rather easy time with us even when ALL of our members were involved but this no more HOD tanking then the claim SF is tanking or FC is tanking because their own numbers have dropped since the first weeks of bronze league.

It’s probably just that ‘tank’ isn’t the right word. Let’s just say NSP tried a lot harder for silver than HoD did.

Compared to you four, there was hardly a whimper out of DR and even less out of Kain who just finished a rocket-sled ride from mid-silver to 7th in bronze. It amazes me that you guys pule in the forums every day for 7 weeks straight instead of using that energy to improve your servers. You get out what you put in I guess.

If you go by that… HoD was 1st on 06-13 october… lol

The past 7 weeks, from a few specific servers, I’ve heard nothing but whining and complaining about HoD tanking into bronze. Fact, the week just before leagues, start of the week, Kaineng was Rank 15, NSP was 16, and HoD was 17. That week, HoD and Kaineng were facing EBay, who was rank 13 at the time, and were getting an inflated score for facing someone so much higher rank. At the same time, NSP was facing AR and GoM, and unless they stomped those two servers all day and all week, they were bleeding points. Look at how the glicko system worked if you don’t believe me.

Now, that matchup, NSP did tank during the opening, letting other gain over 500 ppt at a few points, it got to the point where NSP dropped to rank 17 at one point, pushing Kain and HoD up. Drama ensued, NSP stopped tanking and did the right thing. Now, as far as HoD tanking, we were taking a massive beating from EBay, meaning our fairweathers were not there, and some of the wvw players decided to take the week off for several reasons. One, they didn’t feel like getting mudstomped constantly, two, any push greater than what we had would give an artificial increase in points to make it seem like HoD was stronger than it actually was, three, they were tired, most of the random matchups have put HoD against servers of 5+ ranks higher. Finally, it boiled down to this, HoD knew they would not be able to compete in Silver, everything that had been worked on and built to pull us out of T8 was still too fragile and probably would not have survived Silver League, the server was not ready for it. Therefore we did what we thought was best, MAINTAIN our rank. We did not go up, or go down, in rank. Week before leagues, HoD was rank 17, day leagues started, HoD was rank 17.

TL:DR: HoD maintained their rank in the week before league, stop crying about a server tanking.
