[Bug] Lupicus Necrid Bolt hits in melee
It was always like this all the time: “Necrid Bolt – casts a single, powerful, bouncing projectile at a single target; only hits targets at range. Will not hit players at melee range.”
After 2-3 patches now it his while in melee what it shouldn’t be.
I demand a serious fix in this because we can’t play in melee like this.
Just one-shot him :^)

Also in phase 2 when he casts those 500 bolts I used to stay at melee with my d/f ele to cast the 4 from air. It was tricky because you had to do it really fast, but now I tried and it’s almost impossible to do it in time, the first bolts seems to hit the ground really fast. (Managed to do it in time twice but it was just me guessing if the boss would do that skill and casting it randomly 1 second before lupi animation)

Also despite whether or not there’s people in here who like it, the vast majority of the players that do Arah will likely not.
It annoys the kitten out of me that they still kept the wallexploit. If they wanted to make this challenging, get rid of the countless bugs that people use in a pug party that make this fight a joke. Is it still possible to solo on Mesmer with offhand energy sigils and keeping 100% uptime on wardens?

Considering the plethora of other bugs released today including cast times doubled for certain skills, dungeons being incompletable due to certain events bugging out, and much more, I really doubt this was intended. Actually I don’t think a single dungeon-related change today was intended.
I have no proof of it but at this point based off of how out-of-touch they are with this community there’s no way anyone’s going to convince me that out of all the bosses in this game that needed tweaking to up the difficulty, this is the only one they found adequate to change. Not Ancient Ooze, not the Jotun Stargazer, not Berserker Abom, not anything else?
Seems so unbelievably unlikely coupled with what I mentioned earlier about them still letting people instantly blow him up with a conveniently-placed WoR that they would have thought of modifying his ranged autoattack of all things.
I think a lot of these issues are cascade issues due to the personal story changes to Arah. Code-paths breaking, things of that nature. Naturally, dungeons are on the low end of the totem pole in terms of QA time, so these things break. You’re probably right that this is a bug, too.
Regardless, as I said in another thread, I will be collecting all of the reported bugs including this change to GL’s Necrid Bolt and passing them onto ANet before Friday.
Upon trying a naked offwall solo, I’ve discovered yet another bug but I don’t know if he was doing this prior to today’s patch.
After a phase 2 aoe, as I’m walking back to him (I dodged backwards and riposted), he just kept shadowstepping and disappearing. Like, you know how he glitches when he shadowsteps to someone that’s on the wall? He was doing that, yet I was COMPLETELY ALONE and in the middle of the arena. He did it three times b2b.

I’ve got a better idea.
The surrounding perimeter is incased in a ring of necrotic darkness, if lupi steps into it, he will gain 25 stacks of might, fury, quickness, protection, retaliation, will quickly teleport back into the center of the room and cast a Kamehamehamehamehamehamehamehamehamehame aaaaaaaaaaaaah!!! lvl4 while perma evading all attacks.

I just learnt how to solo lupi with my warrior and they changed it to impossible to melee…fml, i’m done with this game. – uninstalled.
I tried to fight it with some friends (Open kill, No wall) and the new lupi is kinda challenging but still a Guardian can break the fight without using wall exploit, Mace/Shield + F3+ Retreat! can mitigate most of the incoming missiles, and just for the missiles than can’t be mitigated just look when he moves his arm in your direction and dodge, use of Energy sigil is highly recommendable.
Also, since a few updates ago the Dome is more forgivable so really moving a lot while fighting Lupi to avoid or dodge the missiles isn’t near as dangerous as used to be.

Or just change the point where the projectiles spawn. If they came out of his head instead of his stomach then you wouldnt be able to overlap a reflect on that spot.
The only reason Feedback one-shot works is because there is a flat surface on top of the wall, which conveniently is at the same height as where lupi’s projectiles are generated from. Making the wall untargetable as well as extending that invisiwall well above lupi’s height will fix the Feedback too. Just make sure the invisiwall is a proper 3d object that effectively would raise that flat surface above lupi’s head. So even if you do land Feedback, lupi’s center-point would be equally far away from the top as from Feedback placed on the ground.

This wouldnt be such a bad change if he didnt use necrid bolt/lupine blast as often….but im not really sure how often he uses it because ive melee’d him for too long. Altho this change might force people to chain reflects at ground level especially if he doesnt do his aoe right away in p2.

I managed to get to p3 off wall on warrior, but ran outta dodges. Even had you use burst skills to proc building momentum a few times. I’m sure its still doable but I kinda think Sig Stamina might be necessary if you’re doing it off wall.
They fixed interrupting with paralyzation sigil so im not able to stop pugs from one shotting him anymore :C

Spent about an hour attempting solo on condi engi, but it wasn’t happening. L/R strafing only seemed to work half the time, and lupi kept staying in his shadowstep form even after dodging the original return. What a pain.

Combine this with Defiant Stance, which is an instant full heal during a phase 2 aoe barrage and you’ve got yourself easymode.

Nice! Funny thing is I was just experimenting with Defiant Stance a few days ago for Lupi and concluded it wasn’t worth it.
