Death and Taxes Competitive PvE Tournament!
Are story modes even allowed?
why not?

Yes allowed. The way some of them allow you to do multiple objectives at once is pretty interesting to me tactically.

Saw a mention of COE golem being agro from the start now, anyone able to confirm? if it’s true is it back on the list? I so want to see someone good die to that laser field and rage
My rule of thumb has always been “let the consensus be the rule”.
If people think there needs to be an amendment in rule 9 for the CM P2 boss, then that can be done. As the rule stands, as long as whatever the spot is you’re using for the CM P2 boss does not stop from him using any of his mechanics/abilities then I don’t see a problem. I do not classify the ability to move around as a mechanic, so if people want to see that changed then you should probably let me know.
Conclusion: With the current state of the rule, using a spot that stops a boss from moving around/kiting is fine, as long as that is the extent of it.
As for abusing trait bugs to do things like double consecrations, it’s currently an unwritten rule like a ‘gentlemans agreement’ that you shouldn’t do it. If I need to make it an official rule, I can do that.
For future reference, if you need to get in touch with me about something your best bet is to message ‘Alcarnus.7438’ (Vix) ingame and tell him to poke me.

Well it somewhat prevents him from using his plague form which is normally invuln/immune to control .With the bug he simply stands there in the form rather than “randomly” speeding towards a player attempting to inflict multiple conditions.
I could understand if you it were capable to put say immob/line of warding to stop him from moving in that form before but he naturally ignores all control.
As per gw2dungeons.net the ability he uses to move around is called “dash”

Someone explained to me a surefire way of making it through that laser field. I’ve actually never tried it since I can almost always make it normally. It’s not a cheat or anything, just a way of measuring the distance to jump, apparently infallibly. I won’t mention it in case someone doesn’t know it and that will make CoE runs more fun to watch.

If this is the case, then doing w/e people wanted to do to the CM P2 boss would be against the rules.
Looks like CoE golem has been fixed

Just do short jumps. I rarely hit the lasers unless I get a lag spike or someone does an AoE speed buff randomly.

It’s not really a secret, just jump sideways:

Yup, that was the method. Didn’t know how widespread it was. Like the guy above you said, I just do the short jumps and do fine.
I tried the sideways, and backwards jumps as people told me they were better… i do better with just short jumps… but I do screw up from time to time.
Sounds lame.

CoE golem has been fixed. It starts “red”, so the activation issue is gone.
I do have 2 questions. Do organizers intend to organize more of those events and if so do they intend to participate in next editions?
If it’s fun and successful for sure we’ll do more. Whether we participate will be up in the air depending whether we can establish a system where there would be clear enough rules that no bias could come into play. This one is really a learning lesson proof of concept so we’ll evaluate it afterwards.
It is impossible to establish rules that no bias would come in play. If organizers participate, there will always be a question whether or not they were neutral. It is very naive to think this is possible.

I’m just saying organisers shouldn’t join. Or if they join and compete vs another team, atleast let someone, other then the organisers or guildies, judge if that run went according to the rules.

Yeah don’t worry mate, we designed the rules as a community and the community will judge of their application anyway. So far there has not been any problem with that And really, DnT are being very cautious not to provoke anyone by not participating, but it’s obvious they should join the competition! Credits to them for being overly tactful.
About this Turmaine bug, do you still get conditions from his form?
I’d love to enter, but I’m not big on speed-running =/
About this Turmaine bug, do you still get conditions from his form?
Turmaine does not normally move when he is vulnerable. When he is invulnerable, his dash always moves directly towards his target and does not path around obstacles. So you can get him “stuck” during the invulnerable phase — if you are out of range he won’t hit you at all.
Sometimes pug groups exploit this by luring him up to the top of the treehouse, jumping down, and ranging him. He will never come down from the treehouse so you only need to deal with the area denial during vulnerable phases.

That said, I think it would be wise if we did the following for future tournaments:
- Organize it through GW2SCR instead of DnT
This means that certain members of whatever guilds could stand as the judges and the ‘shout casters’, and these people wouldn’t participate and would instead organize everything. Doing it this way would mean that DnT could totally participate without worry as all relevant people would be running the tournament as individuals not as guilds.
This is also reminiscent of how the PvP tourneys are run (they do it through Mistpedia), and it’s a good way to get people interested (and keep them coming to the same streams) in both the game and the tournaments.
(edited by Rising Dusk.2408)
Well I doubt that DnT wants to make this a wholly-DnT thing I mean they call it DnT just because they took the ideas we developed in this forum and simply made it happen by providing the first large donation for the prize pool, as well as contacting grouch I guess. I’m pretty sure that in the future they intend to participate. For now they are certainly devoting a lot of their resources to this so it’s only fair that they get credits for it. We needed someone to make the move! Subsequent tournaments will likely be independent

Hmmm.. maybe instead of participating… Sandy shoutcasting?
On a more important note: I’m pretty confident about gwscr organisation being the plan, and once I return home,
I’ll try and see,
representing rT,
what we can do to help in making this a reality.

Ok question number 3: In the restricted ruleset it states that all members must be visible in the video, or the record is void, I think this is important for teams that can’t have multiple streams. If any team decides to do split strategies, it will be unfair to the team with only 1 streamer and teams that do decide to split with 1 streamer can cheat with harpy feather consumables. How is this gonna get resolved?
Wynd Cloud | Fierce N Licious
Just to clarify, we are able to rally or revive the downed right? As long as they aren’t full dead we’re good to go?
Also, can we make roster changes up to the day? Or is the 20th deadline the final roster editing point.

Yes, you can revive and rally any downed player. However you can not revive any fully dead player, nor can they waypoint. Nike was considering allowing people to hard-res the 1 person streaming if they died, but I am not sure where he stands with that idea currently. He can give you a definitive answer shortly.
Cut off for registration is Friday, June 20 at 12:00pm PDT
If you submit a roster now you can edit it as much as you want from now until that time, at which point it’s locked in.

I’d say we make everyone turn off simple party UI so we can watch their stealth buffs. Obviously consumables are banned, but there is only so much we can do to enforce that. Ideally we would want every single person to be able to stream, but that won’t happen. The rule sort of falls onto honor. We will have people watching very closely to catch any and all cheaters in the act, if they want to ruin their reputation as well as their guilds reputation then that is their choice.
Yeah make sure the full party UI is on so we can see buff bar. Also you will be allowed to res your streamer even if he is full defeated.

I wanted to bring up something. NPCs like Honor’s Claw can and will res fully dead players. The rules explicitly only call out the team ressing and the player waypointing, but don’t cover this loophole. I imagine that if the Honor’s Claw fully ressed a dead player, that player would have to just stand there idly and contribute nothing (or go die again intentionally to some earlier mobs), but I think there should be an official ruling as well.

Could that cause the NPC to bug out and prevent the dungeon from being played out correctly? Maybe have him Waypoint to the entrance to get the claw to back off him if that’s possible?
I’m inclined to say that if Honors Claw manages to res you, you can rejoin. It will take a long time if no one else helps to res and it’s part of the dungeon and equal for both teams so I guess thats an added benefit for HotW

gotta go fast gotta go fast zoom zoom cant stop
Anyone tested it? Just have someone purposefully die on the Ice Troll, and continue to move, see what happens? With that long talk before the next boss it could be plenty of time to have someone dead get back up, but would the NPC being held up hold off the talk?
If they’re not going to fix (or completely remove) NPCs, they just need to make Honor’s Claw the King of the Dungeons and put him in every path.

Or drop the idea of dungeons all together. Fractals are much better
Or drop the idea of dungeons all together. Fractals are much better
If we could get set path fractals then that’d be awesome, but the RNG between groups just isn’t good for a competition.
It’d be awesome if this idea really did take off and ANet liked it enough to put in something that let us choose our fractal paths but in doing so bypassed the rewards or something. /shrug. Fractals could be cool but random sucks.
Are we allowed to use the executioner axe?
No! No! No! No! No! No!
- doranduck, 2016 on Lore in Raids
Are we allowed to use the executioner axe?
I think that’s covered in the GWSCR ruleset. If not, Cookie should probably update that.
6.) Consumables (excluding food/nourishment) and costume brawl items are banned. Use of any of these will result in your record being denied.
11.) No use of gem store boosters/items. This includes but is not limited to Strength boosters and Armour Boosters.
Nope the executioner axe isn’t allowed
