General Dungeon Discussion Thread - Part 2
Dont crush my dreams. :<
Vampiric aura could be a fairly decent DPS increase.
W*… do you have to grind a lot in order to play dungeons? At least is what i heard on the begning…Is still like this?
nope. you dont have to grind at all. when you reach level 50 you can buy cheap blue crafted gear and put runes in it. thats enough for dungeons. everything else will come from drops and playing the content. there is no grind like ascended armor in gw2.
if you want to max ability and amp points really fast you can do that in a week by playing battle grounds 24/7.
Question for you — The one complaint I’m hearing that seems to be getting some traction about the Whiteside server is that the endgame seems to be very group focused, and that after hitting endgame, there isn’t much to do solo.
veteran shiphands, leveling dungeons, contracts, mount and pet hunting, housing, daily quests, pug dungeons and pvp battle grounds.
also there are large event chains on level 50 maps that you can do daily.
i think thats even more than gw2 has to offer.
As for Wildstar, you get 10 days for free, then you gotta pay (as of now), right?
Yep! If you like it, it’s $20 for the box + one month sub, plus $15/month until F2P (though you get several free months of the optional sub perks after F2P if you buy the box soon, deadline is sometime this month for that offer).
That moment you are browsing the PHIWs threads in General Discussion, pressing the repply button and when you’re just about to write a wall of text just to explain that guy what he fails to understand, you go: “heh.. kitten it.” And then you close the tab.
dies I’ve been doing so much of that the last few weeks. It’s just not worth the effort, is it? Though I suppose Gen Disc arguments are mostly there for boredom relief. Maybe my life is just getting more exciting?
Nah.
For a bit, I thought it was all in my head as usual, but now… I think it’s because anet keeps giving strange signals that I can’t interpret and leave me, uh, confuzzled.
What’s up with all this strange shifting and shuffling around.
Prolly because they’re even more confuzzled about it all than you.

Yay! kitten dragonite.

Oh nice, I hadn’t seen the high end maps yet. That does sound like plenty.
Ok, I watered my dad with the garden hose. I think it’s enough of a punishment for being a filthy PHIW.
Now I gotta leave the country, cya guise!

Any of you guys please have the strength to respond to any of those 2 PHIWs…
I just.. can’t…

The favorite thing I’d like to respond to these persons is “You are stupid and now go and think about why you are stupid. Trust me there is an answer for this question that makes sense, even for you.” but it would get deleted anyways.
d’aww
Have to say one of my greatest pleasures when playing engi is hearing “wait, engi’s can stealth?”
It almost always means “wow, thanks for imparting knowledge on me, please teach me more, I’m open to anything you say.” And, I love teaching people, it’s my second most favorite things in games, the first being learning those things. I suck at execution so I just find joy in trying to be an encyclopedia.
It’s even more fun when you use Bomb Kit’s Kit Refinement proc to group mobs together in the absence of a guard/mesmer. Everyone’s like “wtf, since when does engi have AoE pulls?”
i am loving the dungeons in wildstar at the moment. feels oddly weird and refreshing learning the mechanics and tactics of the fights and getting carried at points instead of being the one carrying.

YES, so looking forward to the changes to speedy kits. Though I still wish they’d make the kit refinement in combat only or remove the global recast (recast per kit) but… either way should be cool.
That said, loving Whiteside server, can’t say I like the systems better, but the content… so refreshing.
SK+KR merge won’t be really be that troublesome. Just use FT or toolkit to proc KR without any fear of getting into combat. And besides if it was combat only then you couldn’t use toolkit super speed proc for a rocket boots when doing skips like Arah p2.
Also I don’t get why the magnetic bomb has AoE limit of 3 targets when every other bomb is 5 targets. So annoying to leave that one mob standing away from the stack at the start of Molten Facility.
Are they pushing for a holy trinity?
I think its more along the lines of how you build traits and skills. A warrior can trait for heals on shouts, or a guardian for heal on symbols or meditations. But can a condi revenant take a grandmaster to pick up pulse heals to match their pulse conditions?
Is the revenant equivalent of support traits to instead lose your damage legendary to swap into a support one, then swap back when it isn`t needed?
Maybe a good analogy would be staff eles, you go with an opening rotation, then chill in fire until you need to swap attunements(blasting a water field perhaps), and swapping back when able. It`s there to give the class a possibility of providing support. I can take an ele and pump out 7 blasts into someones water field plus a water trident for burst healing, or swirling winds to block projectiles. The revenant can swap legendaries, provide support, and if they really want to, camp that(benevolence ele says hello with 48% increased outgoing heals and icebow auto attack).
TL and you’re a lazy kitten:
Full support builds already exist. This reveal was just released, poorly. It only talked about a single build type, they didn’t release guardian at launch and say, look at all these heal traits, look at this hammer that produces symbols on AA chains.
They seem to be building a hype train out of a wooden toy set, we get little posts once a week that describe a couple of the skills. Why don’t they just make it its own profession release with a couple hours spent on ready up, like the other classes.
I’ll just be sitting here waiting for an official release about AI updates. The GDC presentation looked interesting, in theory. http://www.gdcvault.com/play/1021848/Building-a-Better-Centaur-AI

Why? Because, quite frankly, they don’t need to. The big chunk of the playerbase and reddit has the lowest standards I’ve ever seen for an AA game. They get hyped with E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G from blogposts about frogman language from blogposts about LA rebuilding (that took place instead of an elite specialization reveal that week, no one complained), hell even from blogposts where they only reveal 2 skills and people jump and scream and log in and buy more gems on the store.
What the kitten is going on in this game
I wanna play staff ranger..
Seriously, why do i fear that HoT will be cr*p ?
Because it will be based on what little useless info they’ve put out.
1 blogpost about their so called challenging content would make or break it for us.
1 blogpost about their so called challenging content would make or break it for us.
I know that’s the breaking point for me. If that disappoints, there’s no reason to even look back right now.
Even if they add some sort of instanced content, I’ll be waiting to hear how it is before buying HoT. After seeing the direction of the company over the last few years, I’m in no rush to give ArenaNet money. Besides, I just don’t have confidence in ArenaNet to take care of their content post-release.
I start to wonder why they won’t even address things like the Lupi bug. Is it because they realize that HoT is their last chance? Are they devoting all of their resources to new content (to the extreme of neglecting issues in existing content) because they realize that if HoT disappoints they’ll lose a lot of players who have run out of ‘second chances’?
But then I remember Alphard. lol nope, they’re just terrible.
I must be the only one who loved the Hard-mode Alphard
Quite a few folks did.
I wasn’t crazy about the changed behavior, but it wasn’t terrible. We got used to it pretty quick.
My issue with Alphard wasn’t the behavior in game, but how ArenaNet handled it. It was obviously a bug — there was no reason for the bomb to blow up multiple times, especially before the AoE appears, and they wouldn’t even comment on it, acknowledge it, or give us any clue what was happening with it.
Breaking things and then ignoring your paying customers to the extent of not even letting them know that you’re aware of the issue is just inexcusable in my book. There’s just such a disconnect between the players and devs in this game, no wonder so much content flops.
Same with Lupi right now. How they handle these sorts of issues now is all we have to gauge how much they’ll care about maintaining the HoT content — it isn’t looking good. They’ve at least said they’re aware of the issue, but it’s been months now, they should be able to share whether they intend to revert it or not.

Maybe they just noticed that
- The people paying the most aren’t the one playing dungeons
- The people playing dungeons aren’t the one paying
Or they just acknowldged that they have kittened up challenging content in form of dungeons that bad, that they would have to spend way too much resources into making dungeons what they should be. So they just abandoned dungeons altogether.
(edited by Wuselknusel.4082)
The question is not who pays more, but if dungeoneers pay enough to support that development. And then, there’s the whole chicken vs egg thing, because I’m sure most dungeoneers have long since entertained the idea of supporting ANet.
At this point I’m just curious what the “challenging content” they seemed so set on existing will be. I’ve long since lost my motivation to play what’s currently in game.
I expect challenging content to be a boss with more health than they currently have, bigger AoEs, a timer that is shorter than other timers, or just more trashmobs, which now can also hit hard. So no real mechanical depth but more of the same to make it seem like challenging content.
(edited by Wuselknusel.4082)
I think that on the surface, the new challenging content will seem ok, but will be quickly left behind the other areas of the game.
Basically, I think HoT will launch with something to get the initial box purchase out of the more hardcore players, then quickly fallback to the PHIW open world crowd.
: /
My personal fear is that HoT will release with a bunch of new gemstore items, true to the motto: “Congratulations! You have just payed 50 bucks, do you want to spend 50 more for this awesome fluff?”
Basically, I think HoT will launch with something to get the initial box purchase out of the more hardcore players, then quickly fallback to the PHIW open world crowd.
Well put.

Well, I hope? I mean, at this point I’d take anything, even one new crappy instance…
First and foremost, though, I want to understand something. Piece together all the hype-big-words theyr’re saying and build a picture of HoT.
Atm it doesn’t look that good…
But yeah, I think it’s just the nebulous hype-talk with little substance. This is what’s confuzzling me.
…. Gawd, it’s so HOT. The pc in summer turns into a furnace.
Ugh. What. Even worse than sum41, didn’t think it was possible.
Ok, ok, what the hell. I’ve never seen an entire set of utilities, an entire line of traits and an entire weapon devoted solely to healing.
What. The. Hell. Is. Going. On.
I’m not… I’m NOT doing more ascended gear, seriously, what… the.. hell…
/quiet freak out
Can’t put everything I’m thinking into words.
… other than guard mace, rite, but that actually has pretty good damage.
No, what the hell am I saying, it’s kitten damage.
Why am I freaking out? Stop freaking out.
But I’m NOT doing more armor sets. Not again. Don’t PULL another ascended fiasco on my sorry kitten .

Ugh. What. Even worse than sum41, didn’t think it was possible.
Yeah, pop-punk is not really my cup of tea either, but I think it suits the theme of nerfing a skill to horse-kitten-level because properly balancing it is apparently to hard quite well :>
That’s true, it fits. The words are cool, but it’s hard to listen to the music.
… btw, I suppose they said exactly how they’re gonna nerf ib? and it’s something like fgs, making it completely unusable? No, even worse that fgs, because you can’t use ib for skips—err, sorry, exploits.
They are essentially starting to add the trinity. You have a Ventari healing spec, a Jalis tank spec, and the other 8 professions for DPS.
Hopefully they tailor the other professions to more trinity roles with future specializations so every group isn’t forced to have two revenants.
Ahhhhh… unghhhh—hurts. God, my eyes. HALP! I’M DROWNIN’!
(edited by deSade.9437)
I’m expecting Ranger’s Druid elite specialization to be healing power focused, makes perfect sense with all the Nature crap lmao
Am I a bad person for killing hype for our ranger fellas?
Also:
I can two man most low level fractals, OP, and a lot of people, the really good ones, can solo some of them.
:O he can actually play the game!
(edited by Quickfoot Katana.8642)
Doesn’t take much of an effort to solo/duo low levels…
Wow, 2manning ac so hardcore.
And everyone, even my grandma, expects ranger to be based on some kittenty healing skills and useless ccs like immobilise. Cuz vines, right?
Nature, druids, pets, controlling animals, vines, WATER—
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!SO ORIGINAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, and the HoT forum section is a kittening cesspool with all these “OMG healer Ventari healing meta death to zerk meta TRINITYYYYY!!!11!” threads. It’s freaking digusting.

Kinda why I haven’t even opend that fourm up. I was kinda meh when the Expansion was announced, guess I was kinda peved over how they did it. But in the days since its worn on me even more, not that I am not happy for the possibly of new content. Its just so annoying that people think this expansion is gonna completely re design the game.
Personally, I’m excited for the new 20 man crafting raids where players work together to craft a giant steampunk Zeppelin to escape from a tower under siege and the revolutionary changes in challenging gameplay that will bring.
Ugh.

A german Guild Wars 2 news site featured your discoveries in a dedicated newspost. :v
Heh, I would say these reddit topics are the ones with the least effort. Also there are few things which may actually turn the whole thing around. So bit weird to get all the praise and recognition.
That might be the case, but at the same time reddit is probably the most known site you’re posting on and it’s new, important information you released there. Not sure if you (guys) ever advertised gw2dungeons in a similar way etc.
If it makes you feel better weth, I did testing on 80+ man events and on VW with 20+, dead players still scaled, WPing immediately reduced the hp. Also, taidha covington’s gate has over 5mil hp with 84 players there, and the bombs only do like 3k, so ya. Something like 4.5mil hp for 22 players, 2 leaving scaled to 4.29mil (VW mid boss, tested the top boss as well), idr the world boss numbers.
Also the supposed “dead players eventually stop scaling” exceeds at least the time window for VW, and that was with ~25 ppl in range. If i can get a bunch of guildies around I can go scale a boss for an hour and see what happens.
Pls fix fixes. /penfifteen
