General Dungeon Discussion Thread - Part 2
Apparently Thaumanova Heat room you can leap full length now?
Solo’s SEp2 on my mes. Tried giving the path away to guildies, nobody wanted. Posted lfg, nobody joined for like 15 mins…
Ded gaem is dead.
The instance/story is pretty much the same it was before, but it is significantly easier if you go in there with a full group. .
That… that is possible?
Well, I was in there with my casual guildies, the ones that get excited when a CoE p1 “only” takes 50 minutes to finish, and that can spend two hours on a fractal lvl 9 . I’ve seen them wipe (multiple times in fact) on the 2nd Arah story boss (the one east of the initial waypoint, that gains a buff when eating grubs) before, so this was a pretty good “test environment” to judge if things have gotten easier .
wow
For Shoggroth, what are the best ways to keep burning up post patch? What about immobilization?
I know Warrior can still just use Combustive Shot, Fan of Fire, Pin Down and Throw Bolas.
Also, are his projectiles unblockable?

Haha no worries. LFG eventually filled up, oddly enough with 3 people that I know – only 1 pug… XD
Idk why people hate SE p2 so much. It’s not much longer than like CoE paths and the event bug can be ignored by killing the elite mobs accompanying the 4 champions before killing the last of the champs. Not to mention that the last boss is one of the few bosses that have actual mechanics behind them and not just Ib #4 to death.
And the amount of loot is awesome.
SE p2 and CoF 3 are the favorite paths in both dungeons for me, I rarely do them though because most of my friends opt to skip them.
For Tar burning, I find guardian to be enough alone with Torch/F1. Immobilize if you have an engineer it’s super easy, if you don’t thief venom/trap and bolas seem to do the job.
agreed there with the guardian for tar. i could keep up perma burning so easily, did not even have to use purging flames.
Does Virtue of Justice also trigger for stuff like symbols? Since you have to hit on average every 0.4 seconds to get permaburning from it (every 0.67 seconds when traited).
Virtue counts for every hit you make be it from symbols, autos, farts in the wind. As long as it does dmg it’ll count.

You only need to keep him burned until he reaches 75% health and starts trying to return to the hole so the fight has barely changed. Immob is same as always.
Except for 90% of the playerbase
Well burn duration was way too easy to maintain before. Its still pretty easy. So it shouldnt be an issue as long as players remember that they need burn.
That wouldn’t be a very good guide, would it?

Then tell them to relog to ele or guard. It was a legit advice I got from a pug last night.

That moment when cof1 bugs cuz boss dies too fast ;_;

Same here! Both have really fun endboss fights. SEp2 is fun with first timers. With an inexp party, everytime at the end boss we barely get them down in time before they reset and newbies are always absolutely overjoyed when we get it, especially if it takes a few tries It’s honestly one of the few paths I enjoy pugging, just to watch people having fun.
I won’t embarrass myself by sharing how long it took me to do the CoF p3 bomb puzzle the first time…. >.< I’d never really needed mobility before that back then, it was quite an eye-opener, lol
Come to think of it…maybe they’re my favorites because no one ever wants to run them. I’m just not sick to death of them xD

Hey, first of all his projectiles are unblockable and unreflectable. Secondly, they cannot be power blocked with the mesmer trait because I think it’s an autoattack (which is all he has). Not sure if this information is valuable to you at all but I figured I would include it anyways.
As for the burning… warrior only has longbow F1 and fan of fire, but if elementalists are in the group they can trait for it with both burning precision and arcane precision, but additionally they can cast glyph of storms in fire attunement, use the signet of fire active, use staff’s flame burst and a lot more. One elementalist is more than enough to maintain permanent burning until 75% hp.
Adding that Mesmers can use Arcane Thievery to send like 40 seconds of burn back to boss. Unless duration changed with Condition rework, but I doubt so.
Moreover, Rangers have torch for good burn. Entrangle and Human elite Avatar of Melandru skill 5 (Binding Roots) work as decent immob.
Or use that bottle-of-fire to pre-stack a bunch of fire when tar spawns, and then drop it to avoid burning allies…
But the best part about tar is burning your buddies. :(
Just wondering, anyone has lost the motivation to play with this patch? For me, has been the final nail on the coffin.

I lost it years ago. But still here -_-
The patch itself is a good thing, better build synergy and everything but we really need beyter boss fight now, with more HP and or phases, I used to say I didnt want HP sponge but what we have now is just too quick, we even skip the phases of 2 of my favorite bosses (lupicus, fire shaman) easily.
Overall i like the patch. Its just difficult to motivate yourself to play when theres loads of bugs and big imbalances in the game at the moment.

Also, I believe that for you, the necro changes and elite specialization aren’t exactly what you would have expected, instead of working on the core problem of necro, they they tried to improve what necro already had.
But yes, they need ro rebalance bosses, not kidding AC ia probably harder than other dungeons now, and its a joke.

Yes, big time. I haven’t felt like playing since the update. I still have logged in briefly a few times but I’m overall dissatisfied with the update to the point where I just can’t be bothered. I don’t know if it will last long but for the time being I definitely need a break.
The new LA, the new wallet, the fact that we don’t get booted out of royal terrace on character swap/logout, and the new jumping puzzle were nice… but the sluggish mobility along with everything else not so much.

so i basically sold everything of value to guy a char slot. made a ranger but I only had about 7gold to gear him out so I could go into dungeons. Technically 2 but I sold most of the food I had collected over the years.
Had to grab Rare sin gear because even Zerk was still to much Runed it with Runes of rage.
Did a lowbie dungeon. Someone failed a run then I realised everyone still had 2 mins of Fury. Im enjoying ranger. The sword auto attack isnt as bad as I recall. overall i like the ranger :P

Welcome to a fun class.
It’s hard not to fall for it if you give it a chance. But it’s a complicated relationship, with lots of bickering and arguments and plenty of disappointments on both sides. Sometimes I just have to pack my things and… take a break from this destructive love.
Am I the only one who enjoys thief ?

That got me wondering… if a Necro pulled all the Burning his allies were eating at Tar and send it back to the boss, could we get a nice condi burst through intensity-stacking burning?
Transferred conditions use target’s damage values and there is a 25 stack cap, so you won’t do much damage with it.

Thanks for the verification. I have seen some people suggest reflects for it so started doubt myself.

I’m pretty sure that bottle is completely broken. Burning basically ends before you can use it again.

So does any one think its worth it to convert cores to Lodestones? I mean like a molten Lodestone is 90 silver. Molten cores about 8 silver. Then the wine 25 and the dust another 20ish silver. The question I guess is how much is a spirit shard worth?
Never been sure if its truly worth it.
I <3 thief, Grimm
Just logged on for the first time since the patch. Ran a casual Arah.
What the hell did they do? They have officially killed the one remaining reason I play this game.
Something’s wrong with my mesmer, but I can’t put a finger on it… why does it feel so slow and clumsy as if I had to wait for every skill to activate? Wth. I think I drank too much.
Skill queuing is buggy as hell right now. If you’re playing engi with the static discharge trait, skills won’t queue up after (and maybe before?) using a toolbelt skill with a cast time. I believe other professions have similar issues right now as well. Not really sure what they changed, but it’s really annoying.
Eh I don’t know what the hell is going on, sometimes my blurred frenzy or phantasms won’t cast and the f1-4 keep interrupting my skills/delaying the ones I try to cast after. I ate I don’t know how may kicks because my mes stares at lupi instead of using 2.
Whatever… I need to grind the dragonite thingy.
…. what the hell, nevermind. Not doing that kitten, it’s so boring and frustrating.

If you have blurred inscriptions traited, your healing signet will proc diversion. Apparently that, and maybe few other reason, causes chicken-blocks ALL non insta-cast skills for a short period. Few other skills such as casting signet of illusions on phantasm summon might do the same. It’s annoying as hell…
Also, dodging and evading something while OOC will put you in combat, because now with a trait your evades apply confusion to enemies, and confusion does damage…

Awesome. Who doesn’t like to be randomly put in combat.
[at least it’s not a mark of blood like for necros bwahahaha ridiculous]
It’s ok dewd, they should be able to fix it in a few months.
I see it from where I stand now, it’s definitely on the table.
P.S. Also, other skills such as ranger’s healing spring behave weirdly…
Man gotta love that 240 radius mark on dodge. Fills the entire room when you dodge. At least the mesmer one is a major trait so you can unequip it without unequiping the entire kitten line.
But necro is so man-mode now. Who cares about getting in combat x)

Ranger were able to abuse the blast finisher on pet swap in some, very gimmicky situations (You needed a tonic without cooldown for that. You would just spam the tonic to get a blast finisher each time you transform).
The logic reaction to that bug is obviously to give the trait a 30s IRC, while the petswap is 15s untraited. Logic. Balancing at its finest.

Tbf that trait stated 30s cooldown from the start, it was just bugged and fixed.
They still forgot to add CD to Zephyr’s Speed so you can still get 25 might and +20 seconds of quickness with little tonic spamming.

Actually, even if it didnt do damage you would still be put into combat. They changed that a while ago to make it that conditions like blind put you into combat. So confusion followed the same path.
Now it does damage but it doesn’t matter because it was already putting you into combat.
