In a resent post of nc soft they are saying that an expansion will come in 2015 for gw2. So this probably means an expasion is comming this year????

They’ve been wrong before on this, said an expansion was coming and ANet says no.

Maybe they mean “An expansion’s worth of content” using the LS

they also once announced on their forum news page:

“We aren’t quite ready to go into all the details here, but what I can say is you will see a specific way to build precursor items on your way to a legendary. On top of this, you’ll also see new legendary weapons and new types of legendary gear in 2013. Building your precursor will require a large amount of the new crafting material rewards listed above, 500 in crafting, and likely a combination of other items earned for completing more specific content in the game.”

that was on 18th july 2013.. xD

still no precursor crafting and no new legendaries

I dont’ think they ever said that, you need to go listen to the q3 financial report. I dont’ think they ever said 2015.

From conference call: " The game is now two years old. And therefore in the not too far future we do think that we will have an opportunity to show our plans about expansion packs for this game"

You should see how bad their prediction is before. So I won’t take it too seriously.

not that anyone said anything wrong you’re all right there is absolutely nothing confirm, not even hinted to officially regarding an expansion. Still the force with which you fight any suggestion of an expansion in this and other threads makes one believe that some people just dont want what they want to actually happen!

To be fair the original release for GW2 was planned for 2010 as far as I remember, and it actually was released in 2012, so they were quite right

I’m not going to believe an expansion is being worked on unless and until Arenanet says it themselves.

Even then it might well be something different to the typical boxes expansion.

It is clear as day that they are working on expanding the game, they probably won’t call it an expansion, but they are going to show something bigger than just LS season 3. They are introducing new elements into the game.

People get caught up in managing their own expectations, “avoid the hype” and whatnot, but if you just look at the evidence, it is ridiculous. Anet is isn’t denying in anymore. They are in the office laughing at these comments.

First, they were looking to hire a raid designer last year, they even hired that dude who works on consulting for AI, who tweeted last year that he was excited for people to see what he was working on.

They have the main stage at PAX with their two biggest guys. I don’t think they have done that since post launch.

The earnings report, which to be clear, said in 2013 Anet was working on an expansion, then in 2014 said an expansion would arrive in 2015. Now it being 2015, reports in being released later this year.

One of the writers from Massively visited Anet’s offices and came away with the feeling that something big was going on, things he wasn’t allowed to see and hushed whispers.

Also looking at the content they have released, which clearly didn’t require that much staff.

Of course, all this individually means little. However, when looking at everything, it’s obvious. Whether it is new classes, skills, mounts, tacos, who knows. But it is bigger than anything they have created so far. Bigger than LS, bigger than a feature pack, bigger than a new map.

Although like many of you I am hoping drastically for an expansion. I just hope that in the same instance we will finally see a lot of the persistent game long bugs and issues that exist squashed. This Reddit post summed the majority of it up pretty well in a non-confrontational manner. Otherwise to me any major new content like an expansion, although still enjoyed, would be over-shadowed by all of the existing bugs, game issues, and QoL issues.

does it really work that way though?

I mean I cant speak for others of course but that being said seems to me like most people who argue not to get hopes up as to not get disappointed are already disappointed in the game to the point no matter how much writing there is on the wall they refuse to believe things will ever get better!

at the end hyping oneselfs up or not will not change the fact everyone wants to see certain content added to the game and if thats not going to happen everyone is going to be disappointed regardless of pre-hyping so to speak!

Interesting. Apparently they trademarked the logo for the upcoming Valentines Day festival. You’d think it would be more heart shaped and perhaps red or pink though.

well red and green are complimentary colours!.

not just that but if you take the primary colours, remove red and mix the rest you’ll get green! (which in a way is a fancy way of defining complimentary colours but anyway)

If anything, the announcement the way it’s phrased, is specifically telling us there will be no expansion. Anyone who expects one with that wording is just living in hope.

The wording talks about new ways to expand the Guild Wars 2 universe. Expansions aren’t new ways to expand it. That’s old school. To me this implies new things that aren’t being done in the industry at least commonly. Ergo, it won’t be an expansion announcement.
