Feedback/Questions: Legendaries in Wardrobe
I can’t wait to pretend I have a legendary and see the TP prices go up for no reason.
Does transmuting a legedary skin soulbind the weapon to your character?
Only, since people can now transmute any weapon (of the same type as their legendary) to have a legendary skin, will we see “legendaries” going up for sale on the TP? Clearly, they wouldn’t sell at legedary prices as the description will remain the same (or am I wrong???) but can other people buy the “look”? That might be a little worrying.

I don’t think so, it will probably Soulbind the Weapon to your character.
With the precursor scavenger hunt, I’d expect them to make obtaining precursors way harder than obtaining them now and definitely harder than obtaining any of the gifts that are used with it. Possibly linked in with the achievement chests so when you reach 50,000 achievement points you have all the parts to form the precursor.
It would sure suck for anyone with dual Incinerators. I can count a few already. However, I suppose that while the time is present, using a transmutation splitter and selling it would be worth doing now.

I made my legendary one of the main reason was the steps. Will the skins also have steps when we walk?
In the Wardrobe System , i already made Sunrise(unlock sunrise skin) then buy Twilight at TP(equip Twilight and unlock skin).
Finally, i crafte Eternity in the Mystic Forge and sell it.
Will i still have 2 legendary greatsword skin(Sunrise and Twilight) and take back gold to buy other legendary?
So first off I LOVE this new wardrobe change. Being able to access my legendary skin across multiple characters just made my day! So thank you very much for this! And they dye change is cool too since now my alts can look awesome too!
Just a quick question on that: What happens with the hot-swap stat ability on legendaries? Can you only use that on the original instance of the weapon? All of them? Or none of them?

Highly doubt it.

I know the feeling, my first objective was to have 2 incinerators, now i realize i’m not gonna have any. QQ
My guess on that is that you’ll have both skins yes, but is that really interesting when you lose out on the stats changing commodity and the ascended stats level ?
Moreover, it’ll look stupid to have a legendary skin on an exotic/ascended, in this way it doesn’t decrease the value of the legendary because only them will have the purple colored name.
Only in the original.
The others will only be a skin.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Unlocked skins can be applied to items infinitely , just craft different stats for it

I don’t think you guys understand OP’s original question, and he makes up a great point, which I wonder if Anet has thought of that.
Technically both Sunrise and Twilight should be available to you, even though Eternity became bind on equip and sellable.
Of course though, you will not get any gold back from these legendaries. The only thing that would concern you is the available of Sunrise/Twilight skins. Eternity will not be available to you since you didn’t equip it.

I don’t need Eternity’s skin, just wanna sell it and take back gold which used to buy Twilight then buy The Juggernaut
A level 1 character having a fine-quality Eternity was already possible in the old system. Very unlikely that someone would waste the legendary stats for it, but still entirely possible.
I’ve seen plenty of people complain that 1H legendaries were undervalued compared to the 2H ones because 1H had to create 2 legendaries to “fill” their weapon slots while 2H weapons just had to make one. So this could be seen as partially alieving this problem, though only if the player wants 2 of the same legendary.
Even if you can skin something as a Legendary, it still will not have the same stats as one unless you went through the effort to make it (or buy it).
So it is then the stats that have the prestige, not just the looks.
You just remind me of this one time when I see a mesmer, who had only 600 AP or so, wielded an eternity and a bifrost in one of my casual TA runs. The world is surely unfair, but I welcome this new change.
but seriously no, the ability to change stats makes having multiples worth it. People might have 2 of the same looking skin but they won’t be able to switch up their build like someone who has 2 of the actual item.
I have 2 bolts, I am not upset at all.
I have several alts that can now have the skin. I am pumped. !!

Of course it worked on the previous system, people used the same method for white rarity to move legendaries around their characters. But having BOTH Eternity on your max level character and your alt seems a bit too much. In the old system you’d have to give up the legendary entirely to move it over to a low level character.
If they had a system where if you have dual wield legendaries, they should give you an option/automatically unsoulbind one of them so they can sell it. To people who made/bought these weapons solely for the skin, it’s a bit unfair.
Also, if you had one incinerator, you should only go around with one. You shouldn’t make it able to trick people into thinking you have two incinerators. The prestigious-ness of having legendaries just got worse.

We still don’t know the cost (if they’re even varied per skin rarity). If it’s a high cost, I highly doubt that people will be putting their legendary skins on a low level item. Because they would have to continuously reskin that item as the character levels up. With both stones and crystals merging to one type of cost, it might not even be worth it for a Lvl 1 to have Eternity.

But the motion of having a weapon that costs so much to make now can be duplicated for a much lower price than making another, destroys the value and thought of having another legendary.
As well as fooling other players that you have two incinerators when you don’t even have any on your level 80 alt.

A) You have to get the legendary on your account somehow. That hasn’t changed.
B) Combatwise, there are very few players that care if you have two Incinerators other than “Hey, that guy has two flaming daggers.” You don’t get any combat benefits, or they are insignificant in most situations to exotics.
Other than swappable stats, legendaries didn’t have any combat value to begin with. People spent hours farming for a look. Players will still have to farm for a look the first time but now they aren’t restricted to one character.

Are you actually one of these people, or just complaining for the sake of complaining? It really seems like you are the latter here…. It still isn’t a piece of cake to get 1 legendary, and you can’t log in on two of your characters at the same time, so they have just made them account bound with a slight cost and not the stats is all.
And ultimately, those people that have made two bolts still have alts (or possible alts) that can make some advantage out of the new system. The only people that are negatively impacted are those who have ~10-15 legendaries. Although it is debatable whether or not those people even care about this change.

Well, with 2 Incinerators you will be able to select stats, which is quite a nice feature. I guess it all depends on whether you made them for their looks alone or for the looks AND stat-swapping feature.
I can understand the frustration from those who simply crafted 2 for the looks(I did the same for Infinite Light). Sucks, but I doubt there will be any kind of compensation.

The thing is, the look is what drives many people to make a legendary, if you can just make your character look better by making another legendary skinned exotic, just like that, what’s the motive of making the legendary skin have ascended switchable stats?
The people who originally had one incinerator can seem like they have two, and to the people who actually had two incinerators, what’s the point of making it for the skin if everyone can now just use the wardrobe system?

all the existing skins are up to exotic only…. so if there are going have any legendary weapons skins, the skin itself should be legendary too. and people who want to apply this legendary skin to other weapon should pay a reasonable transmutation cost, and this cost can strike a balance with the cost of players who choose to make another actual identical legendary weapon.
I think legendary weapons are something that should remain unique and precious in the game, different with any other skins.

Ok, I’ll explain this.
I do not have an Incinerator. I would like an Incinerator for the skin. If I like the skin, I still have to farm for the original legendary.
This is the same as the old system. However under the old system, I needed to destroy the Incinerator to transmute its appearance. Now I don’t have to destroy a weapon to get its look elsewhere.
And the look of your weapons should only matter to you. If you’re doing it to show off, that’s fine. If you’re doing it to appear elite, you’re doing it for the wrong reasons.
I’m happy about it. I can finally dual wield incinerators on my thief and ele even tho I only made one. And I can concentrate my resources in making a bolt now, and not another incinerator.
Woooohooooooo!

I think, for the most part, this change is a great change for the game. In fact.. all of the changes in the feature patch so far seem amazing and I can’t wait for them to come ^.^
It’s fine. We should all be overjoyed with these new features.
In addition, it’s not a matter of losing; If anything, it’s a matter of gaining more or less than others.

Gw2 is a masterpiece at it’s foundation. Content-wise however…
The legendaries need to be kept out of the wardrobe. Guild Wars 2 endgame has always been cosmetic, and while it’s great to see the wardrobe make available all the skins we’ve got, Legendaries are supposed to be unique.
Why would I have a normal looking shield on my engi when I can pop into the wardrobe and take out the Flameseeker Prophecies?
Elementalists/thieves who wield dual daggers, dual pistol thieves/engis with Quips, or any person that has made more than 1 of the same legendary for their alts is being massively penalised.
I know legendaries still need to be crafted and other than this one thing I think it’s a fantastic update, but this needs to be addressed.

Uproar. Uproar.
Just imagine a world where alts level 1 have an Eternity at fine level.
Or a person who JUST made ONE bolt wielding two immediately.
Bah .. one real , one fake .. the fake one is stuck with permanent ascended or exotic stats … i just hope they will be a level requirement for the skins … doing defense of sheamoor human starting quest with Eternity is just plain silly ….
Anyhow .. all my Alts will have 4 legendary skin to choose from … soon 5
Now my question is a duplicate get aura/footfall too ? hummm

If I knew that this system would be released, I wouldn’t have made my second incinerator at the first place and made bolt instead. Now I’m rocking 2x Incin and 1x Dreamer when I could be rocking 1x Incin, 1x Incin skin, 1x Dreamer, 1x Bolt and 1x Bolt skin.

Don’t tell the OP about the part of the blog regarding forged weapons also giving you the skins of the precursors and other things that made them, like how Eternity holders will get dawn, dusk, twilight, and sunrise.
Oops! did I say that out loud?

I know this. That’s a price to pay when you make two legendaries then fusing them into one. But two incinerators don’t fuse together so you’re left with just one benefit rather than two from Eternity.

I have many many many alts that will love having bifrost, and a few for dreamer.
As a result of this legendary change, I will a. make more legendaries and b. buy more gems and c. play more of the game to make more skins and legendaries. i will also need more bank slots (or a weekly purchase of charges) to hold all of the different skinned gear I’ll have.
I love Anet. and I love that they have finally listened to us altoholics. This is a stunning change, and i get that it sucks that you made 2 daggers and you only needed one. but the majority of the playerbase wants this.
And all who stood by and did nothing, who are they to criticize the sacrifices of others?
Our blood has bought their lives.
I have Eternity and wouldn’t mind my banker to wave it!
what will happend to my lovelys? :O o.O

The point I’d like to raise here is that yes, that’s how this will affect you and I’m sorry for your “loss”, but it does positively affect the majority as a whole. However, considering that you can now use those skins on an infinite amount of alternate characters, this still positively affects you.
I’m halfway through making my second Incinerator. Now that effort can go toward a different Legendary instead. I’m stoked.
- Accounts cannot be shared.
- When you unlock a skin, the item has to become untradable.
- The skin does not give the item ascended variable stats the actual legendary has.
What is the problem, then?
The only thing unfair about the system is that people who can afford continuous gems get to make changes anytime they want, and the rest have to stick with a single transmutation (if any) and that’s it, until they can afford or find more charges, if what they like to do gives charges at all (or enough coin to buy them) in the first place.
And legendaries should not have been tradable, only some of the materials, and not all, but the harm is done already, that can’t be taken back.
People could already transmute a legendary skin in a level 0 item, and go around with the skin in the starting instance if they wanted.

The problem here is not if you have all these legendaries and want to put them on another alt.
The problem is when you can make it seem like you have 2 when you only have 1. The drive to make the second legendary is gone. Daggers, swords, pistols are dual wield. If you made one of them and it seems like you have two, the people who actually made two will feel like they got devalued visually if they really liked the skin so much to remake that legendary.
As Anbu showed above, he/she could have made 4 less legendaries for the skins she wanted to dual wield, now all she has left is the system of switching stats and the fact that she can now no longer feel special when dual-wielding thousands of hours of repeated hard work, despite it being money or time spent in game.

I have a feeling that the “account bound” update coming up is going to change soulbound items into account bound which will solve all of this uproar about dual legendaries….
…because now you can give your second legendary to a second character…and still keep the dual skins on the first….so you will have all the benefits of a second legendary AND the skins to use on your alts.
