Feedback/Questions: Legendaries in Wardrobe
This is kittening good change cos I have 4 character and they all use staff.
So my 1 Bifrost can become 4 Bifrost just like that. kitten yeah!!
In all honesty I like the idea of owning skins once you unlock them but wouldn’t it have been easier just to make all weapons and armor account bound instead of this?
It would have kept legendary weapons in check with the amount “transmuted”. It also would have let people move them to their alts if they felt they made a soulbinding mistake or just want to change things up.

Account-Bound
Willing to bet that the change is to make all soul-bound items account bound….since that was a change that players wanted during the CDI (along with almost all of these other changes).

You will have one legendary Bifrost and 3 Bifrost clones. The one thing that I do like is taking ascended weapons and making them legendary.

Yeah one Bifrost made in USA, 3 Bifrosts made in China. haha.

I have 2 bolts, I am not upset at all.
I have several alts that can now have the skin. I am pumped. !!
This.. the… words here… can’t get any more accurate. proved a point for everyone.
this guy “vladimer” just showed you that, for the future, this only affected everyone positively while you only have to let go of how much effort was wasted in the past and accept it. i like his style.

Hey, I don’t mind having 3 “pirated” Bifrost at all!
Now I don’t have to use transmutation splitter to transfer my Bifrost around!
kitten yeah ANet!! You rock!!
I don’t know. I have made one legendary weapon, though I sold it and no longer have it. So speaking as someone who at least went to the trouble to make one, I am not bothered by this. In fact, people should be happy, since you not only get the skin of the legendary to use across your account, but also the precursor. What’s not to love about that??
My question is, even though the skin is transferrable to another toon, will it have all the legendary effects, such as aura and footprints and such? Or because it’s then technically only a skin, does it not get that, just as it would likely not get the same stats?
As for being in an “exclusive club” of the legendary wielders, this club never was exclusive, since any person with $200 cash to buy gems could get one easily having only played the game enough to get one toon to level 80. It does not, nor has it ever, required game play time to get.
Some sort of refund for multiple copies would be nice, for all duplicate skins, not just legendaries…

Ignoring the racist undertones of the “made in China” quip, the legendary change is great and as numerous said – making multiple legendaries gives benefit of stat change that only legendaries have. So when metas change and/or skills/traits get reworked/added, you won’t have to recraft an ascended weapon to fit the new build (your legendary can change accordingly).
Also, why get mad about a lvl 2 carrying eternity? It doesn’t hurt you in any way and doesn’t harm your actual game experience. It lost all prestige after the 5000th gamer made it anyways

Don’t be mad Kyle, It’s not offensive if your own race points out their stereotypes given around the world.
Again I will point this out. The big problem isn’t to have your alt level 2 wield an Eternity, the problem for people who made two dual wield legendaries is that one person who makes ONE incinerator can make it seem like they made two, on the same character, at the same time.

I wonder if this change will increase the value of Legendaries on the TP. Players can have the look of the big shiney across toons for a fraction of the cost. Wouldn’t this lead to more purchases initially until the skin lockers are filled?

Yeah, I’ll admit to being pretty bummed out that I made a second Incinerator a few months ago and with these changes I essentially flushed away 2500g. Had I known this change was upcoming I’d’ve continued using my ascended Moonshank and made a Bolt rather than Incinerator #2.
sigh my computer wont be able to take in all the particle effects if the skins have them lolz

I dont really understand this… why would they make so much problems for them selfs by doing this.
there are so many people who spend months making the weapon, feeling amazing that they accomplished making 2 legendarys. taking pride in it being noted by others…
this will kill all the fun in having duo legendary’s (incinerator for example…)
It would be so much better to exclude legendarys from this system and instead make them simply accbound! why do we want an increase of at least 50% in legendarys roaming around tyria??? It will be the most common weapon in the game. Making those six month a waste of time… and legendary’s WORTHLESS
make it accbount everyone will gain from this… you can swap it around, but you still hold the value of the items, it will still be more special and rare to have 2 incinerators or bolts or what ever legendary…. Let us keep the effort we put in to it..
and this is only the part about legendary not too mention the over 200 transmutation gems spend on armors.. and the dozen bought gemstore armors.
If not. Id rather be compensated fairly
That said,
I think this is an amazing patch otherwise… if only they notified sooner so I did not salvaged a dozen skins cause of low storage but for the average player this is great..
just plz think about the players that put most effort in this game

Just imagine a world where alts level 1 have an Eternity at fine level.
Or a person who JUST made ONE bolt wielding two immediately.
How about the people who made 2 incinerators in the past? All their efforts wasted if they went in for the skins.
Wouldn’t this devalue the motion of making a legendary if you can just skin them? Also the people who have 4 incinerators or 2 bolts or any dual wielded identical legendaries, striking these people who worked hundreds of hours or spending thousands of gold so they look different, now everyone who made 1 incinerator can immediately visually get 2 provided that they pay the price of transmutation?
It just isn’t fair.
I’m imagining this world and hate to say it but I love it! Working on eternity next which will take a lot of time… the ability to allow my guardian, warrior, ranger, or mesmer all use it sounds pretty awesome to me!
So does dual wielding my incinerators.
Your points are invalid. MMO’s do this type of thing ALL THE TIME. One month you have the epic loot the next you’re not the hottest stuff anymore, especially 1 and 1/2 years later. Most people who got dual incinerators yeah they might be mad, but they have something the rest of us don’t and that was dual wielding 2 when we didn’t. That’s an experience that can’t be taken away from them. Like in WoW you can solo or get a small team and go kill the BC raids and get the legendaries there quite easily now, that didn’t take away from the thrill or the accomplishment of those that got them during their time.
You also “conveniently” forgot to point out the benefits of owning a legendary or two. Only your main will have the stats, it will always be best in slot (BiS, pretty huge advantage when you think about it… always is a big word), and you can change its stats! Do you want zerker gear go for it, need some more defense and want it to be knights or sentinel this fight you can do that too. These things are huge. Doing fractals let’s add some agony resistance to the weapons… It’s not like those people with legendaries (myself included) are losing anything… if anything all their alts get to use their legendaries too without having to pay gems for switching them over everytime! They are gaining something great. So be quiet and stop whining so you don’t ruin it for the rest of us who would seriously enjoy it. This world you described sounds pretty amazing to me.
anet destroyed the meaning of legendary by lowering it price and prestige how?
let me give you an example:
i got kudzu for my warrior but i also wanted kudzu for my ranger. so i was playing and buying gems both to get it. now i only have to craft ascended long bow and give skin of kudzu from my warrior to it. which means same state and same look.
yes it is good for me i save gold and materials but like i said:
it will lower the demand hence price fall.
you will see a lot more legendary weapons around hence lowering the prestige.
So I guess crafting two Infinite Lights was a waste of time then. I don’t even get a stat benefit. lol
I dont really understand this… why would they make so much problems for them selfs by doing this.

It is a step to solve a reported issue where people don’t want to grind things over and over when they already accomplished them. In my opinion, it is an amazing step however, kinda unfair to the people who have multiple legendaries etc.
I hope you will get compensated buddy.

Dear, when items become too hard to obtain people call them grindy. When they become easier, people talk about not feeling it as an accomplishment.
There is always different opinions and therefore different audiences.
Dear anet… please don’t listen to much to the people who whine and cry and QQ on the forums to much… as we know the forums are usually all negative anyways with also the addition of trolls.
Instead please go in game and look at town chats and guild chats and pm’s, i’ve been playing all day and have seen nothing but excitement, happiness, and glowing reviews about all the new changes. Maybe one nay-sayer in 100 if that.

It’s unfair.

Made 2 incinerators…… What is the point of that if I could have just made one and saved myself like ~2,000 gold(Just a guess)? I’m sorry but ascended stats and the abillity to change the stats whenever I want is not worth ~2,000 gold Arena-Net. People with duplicate legendaries better be getting something out of this that is worth while. I’d be happy with a refund or the abillity to choose a new legendary of equal or less value. Otherwise, congrats anet, time to quit for TESO like a lot of people probably will, I’ve wasted enough time here. Fairly sure that I’m not the only player concerned about this, some developer input might be good right about now before too many of us rage.

Which server on which map may I find these people?
The forums are inter-server so there are mixed feelings about this, you can’t expect everyone to be happy, or upset. We just need to point out our place here so that people won’t be neglected in this already amazing game. We spent countless hours crafting our second incinerator, and now people with 1 incinerator can make it seem like they’ve got two? Most people choose to make legendary because of their looks, the added stat switcher is a bonus.
To wield dual legendaries is different from wielding one bolt and one incin, but now if you have one bolt and one incin, you can have as many bolts and as many incins, provided you pay the charge cost.

I’m pretty surprised they’re explicitly including legendaries in the skin wardrobe. Making them account-bound but exempt from the wardrobe would make a lot more sense and help keep some exclusivity attached to the skins. Most of the complaints seem to be coming not from people upset over Twilights on alts, but that the time and money spent building a dual-wield legendary has been wasted. Players that chose to pursue a second Bolt or Incinerator are in the minority, sure, but there was a lot of time, work, and money put into building a matching set that is now hardly different from a player with a single legendary and a skinned ascended.

that is why there should balance, what i mean is when game released and people saw how difficult making legendary is they were like “omg we are casual gamers,we never gonna get one of those or it will gonna take long time” it was kinda of unbalance in favor of hard core players.
so anet increased the reward of playing, so more people could make legendary weapons although a few months later many people got their hands on one legendary at least to the extent which twilight and sunrise became the most common gs skin in the game but still acceptable.
but it is unbalancing again toward making them so common that they lose prestige completely.
i know some of my guild mate who have enough gold and karma etc to make multiple legendary but they wont go for it because of the commonness they prefer gem store skin with ticket.
and maybe that is why anet change direction to make their gem store skins much more popular.

The problem here is not if you have all these legendaries and want to put them on another alt.
The problem is when you can make it seem like you have 2 when you only have 1. The drive to make the second legendary is gone. Daggers, swords, pistols are dual wield. If you made one of them and it seems like you have two, the people who actually made two will feel like they got devalued visually if they really liked the skin so much to remake that legendary.
As Anbu showed above, he/she could have made 4 less legendaries for the skins she wanted to dual wield, now all she has left is the system of switching stats and the fact that she can now no longer feel special when dual-wielding thousands of hours of repeated hard work, despite it being money or time spent in game.
Well, the time an effort invested getting lost in that is definitely a problem.
Hm… maybe they could make it so a second legendary with the same skin unlocks the skin again, so you don’t have to spend transmutation charges, to compensate for the extra time investment:
- Get prestige skin once (legendary, T3 cultural armor, extremely rare drop, extremely expensive craft, etc): Can apply the skin by spending TM charges.
- Get prestige skin twice: Can apply the skin freely for no additional cost like HoM and AP skins.
This could be applied to all skins, actually. The higher the rarity and prestige of the skin, the less times you have to “bind” an item with the skin until you no longer have to pay charges. For a legendary it’ll require just binding two to the account, for the most common skins like those level 0 drops with the fine common loot skins it could take tens of thousands of salvages to get them permanently unlocked with no charge consumption.
Even with that, the “showoff” prestige would be lost, of course. And adding a way to inspect gear could lead to discrimination in parties, so that can’ be done either.
Maybe the transmuted version could lose the visual effects like steps and sparks, or get a slightly different effect, so you can see it’s transmuted by looking at the weapon itself.
Still, I don’t think the “showoff” part is that important. Legendaries now are something you get more for yourself than for other to see. Thanks to them being tradable the merit of crafting them can’t be seen. There’s no way you can prove it was made by you and not bought because your rich uncle gave you a $5000 USD allowance you spent in gems over some months, then bought some gold and then bought them legendaries.

Pretty straight forward. Now that unidentified dyes cant be adquired from mobs drop, are the only ways of getting them by laurels/gem shop? all 250 of them?
Second one, is regarding precursors. I crafted my Legendary Sunrise, but I didnt equip Dawn, at any point, that I remember. Would I still get the skin? If so, does that mean, that the way to unlock the skin is just having it in your inventory? Wouldnt that mean all I have to do is share an unbound weapon among all my friends to all of us unlock said skin, or do we have to equip the weapon in order to get the skin, making it accountbound?
Thanks in advanced!
Legendary SoloQ
This is a non-issue. Take Incinerator for example : Takes the same amount of materials and gold to craft as Sunrise. Yet Sunrise takes up both slots. Therefore in my opinion getting both skins from one legendary is perfect
1) This is unsure. My guess is that they will update the recipe.
2) If you equipped Sunrise, you will unlock Dawn. That’s what they mean by being grandfathered.
Tarnished Coast
Laurels, gems, cooking, PvP MF recipe will be ways to get dyes.
Apparently you need to equip or salvage an item to unlock the skin, in your case I’m not really sure if the system will unlock the Dawn because you equipped the Sunrise or you just won’t get the Dawn skin at all but have the Sunrise.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
I think all you’re getting is the skin. (no stats)…..so whats the big deal?
there’s a petition related to this matter already up apparently

It’s like if I buy a Lamborghini, and it became a “life unlock”, I can make my best friend’s car look like a Lamborghini with all the cool sounds and door effects, but not as powerful, by paying a fraction of what it costs. By fraction I mean it is insignificant to the cost compared to just selling the car as brand new.
Is this what’s going to happen as the latest feature pack?

Quit with the “YOU STILL GET THE STATS”…
for those of us who is willing and has the time and money to craft multiple legendaries can very easily just craft some ascended weapons to skin them onto, for a heck of a lot less money and time than the actual legendary. I would have much rather just made one incinerator rather than my 3 I made then just made several ascended daggers to skin onto.
and it seems to be mainly only people with 1 or no legendaries who are saying this, for those who have multiple the stats are pretty useless to be honest, I can just make ascended items at ease to make up for not being able to swap on the fly.. and who even uses the swapping feature this often? I for one do not. (maybe once since i’ve had them)

This guy ^^ I watched your video btw.
The time it takes to make the same legendary for the visual appeal can’t be justified in the upcoming feature pack. It puts the whole ‘made a second for the visual aspect’ pointless and everyone around the world would have multiple legendaries visually when they only have 1.
What? Prestigous-ness? What’s that?

What really gets to me is not the rarity of precursors and ascended chests, but how imbalanced to luck is. Happy for the folks that get one but It really kinda ticks me off when people get when people get two, three, four or more, yet I’ve been playing since shortly after release and never gotten one. Try to spread the love around a bit Anet!!!
Anet said they have a team working on updating the rewards of the game.
Source?
Hey ArenaNet don’t go back on your word, I want Bifrost skin on all my characters!!
And unbind those with duplicate legendary, so they can sell or whatever.
OP: You know what’s LESS fair?
Putting all that stuff into your legendary, ALL THAT IT REQUIRES, and having SEVERELY LIMITED usage of it. I have long maintained that if you get a legendary it should be account bound. I still think it should be, but these skins alleviate some of that.
To those that did it twice? You have two legendary quality weapons. That’s still a good thing, because you have those stats x2 instead of one legendary and one exotic. A skin is just a skin; there are no stats.

Nobody’s arguing that a legendary should not be account bound. What we’re saying is that we made a second, identical legendary for the skin, not for the ascended stats or the swapping, and every player with only one legendary now has that second skin that we worked to obtain for free.
Claiming people build second legendaries for the stats and not for the skin is ludicrous — look at back before their stats were swappable, when players would build legendaries and then transmute them onto exotics.
I was pointing out that they get the skin for free, sure, but you still have something over someone using an exotic secondary, so it’s not as if you come away with nothing at all.

The disparity in the costs of making another identical Legendary vs making even an ascended weapon and then transmuting the skin over using the new system is quite great though.

That’s disingenuous. Can you honestly imagine a person, after these changes, building a second Bolt to wield in his offhand, rather than crafting an ascended sword or two and putting the Bolt skin on them? Calling the stat-changing a worthwhile consolation prize is a bit silly.
Source?
‘’There is a “loots and rewards” team looking at how different things are rewarded, so changes will come.’’ – Ramon [ german community manager of GW2 ].
I think the best option for Anet is to grant refunds for extra weapons that people don’t want. If someone has two Sunrises, Mjolnirs, Volcanuses, etc., they should be able to get the mats back for one of them. If someone has two Bolts, Incinerators, Infinite Lights, Whisperblades, etc., and if it’s possible to unlock a skin once and use it in both hands (if not then of course this should only apply to people with three or more of these), they should also be able to get the mats back for the extras.
If someone wants to keep their duplicate legendaries for the stat swapping, fantastic, more power to them. I know I’d rather make a bunch of ascended weapons and give them all the legendary skin, though, if I have the option—it’d save a lot of gold.
best statistical loot in the game. We want everyone on an equal power base.”
Pre-launch, Colin listed things that make MMOs bad. They are all now in GW2.

I wasn’t saying it was worthwile, I was just pointing out you do get something for your time. :p

It’s not worth 2800g to hotswap your stats. You make and soulbind a certain legendary because you like that look, not only because of the stats….
If you just wanted the stats back then, you could have just made an Ascended weapon, it’s much easier. You like the exclusivity and the extra added effects.
Also regarding the Best In Slot (BiS), even though the legendary stats are BiS no matter what , the fact that other people has your legendary skin multiple times when they only have 1 incinerator and 1 bolt devalues the item no matter what. I could have three sets of incin/incin or incin/bolt or bolt/bolt when only having two legendaries.
