GW2 expansion confirmed. Hopes and dreams?
- Playable Skritt – Not happening but, I can dream!
- New Legendaries – I have the gold, I have the gifts (mostly)… I just don’t have any legends I really want to put them towards.
- Weapon dyes – GW1 had it; GW2 has some great weapons, but matching them to your outfit is a pain in the kitten … pretty plox?
- The Depths – We know the Asura had an entire civilization greater in size than even the human kingdoms that was essentially wiped out by Primordius; I want to see the ruins, what became of it’s citizens and the dwarves eternal underground battlefield.
- Weapon migration – New weapons for old classes. Mainhand pistol for mesmers (Duelling IS their second trait line!), Rifle for thieves (Sniper! – Boom, headshot), you get the idea.

That article is quite old (over 3 months) , and the devs have stated since then, that no expansion is being worked on at this time. But it’s always nice to wish for things, and let the devs know. =)
Stated after each of the last two conference calls where NCSOFT said that an expansion is in the works that there wasn’t. Most recent denial was 11 days ago.

RIP City of Heroes
Just for clarity, this quote isn’t from NCSoft PR, marketing, or ArenaNet.
It was written by the person who wrote the article, who was expressing their own opinion about the state of the game. We’re excited and humbled they feel that way, but that’s up for each of you (and the press) to decide on your own.
We’ve only once as a company made any reference to a statement about “expansions worth of content”, December of last year, in one interview and we both very quickly clarified what we meant by such, and also asked our marketing team to remove this from our future messaging since it means wildly different things to different people making it impossible to be true for everyone. (For example I expected the sandwichmancer profession in an expansion and didn’t get one in jan/feb/march, that’s BS ArenaNet!)
As a reminder, the stuff we are trying to work on can be summarized high-level here, and we’ll update this again later this year with our progress:
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/colin-johanson-on-guild-wars-2-in-the-months-ahead/
“The information that Martin provided after the last quarterly earnings call about this topic hasn’t changed.
Our primary focus as a company is making the core game experience as amazing as possible, through new features, content, and the exciting changes and additions to the world through our Living World releases. – https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/GW2-Expansion-targeted-for-2013/first#post1391159”
“It is also true that we have said in the past that we will do an expansion at one point. But currently we are fully committed to expand the world of Guild Wars 2 through our Living Story (you can read more about it in this blog post by narrative designer Angel McCoy) https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/the-living-story-in-guild-wars-2/”
The moral of the story is don’t believe everything on the internets ^^

GW2 expansion isn’t confirmed yet. But I do have high hopes
“We are preparing an expansion pack, but in terms of when we will actually launch it, it’s something that we’re still monitoring the situation on,” stated NCSoft managing director Nah Seong. “We’re looking at the performance of the game and deciding when it would be the best time to do the launch, and that’s still something we’re thinking about.”
From: http://www.destructoid.com/arenanet-is-working-on-a-guild-wars-2-expansion-update--253646.phtml
So they are going to, but its the matter of WHEN. It’s another… “When its ready” thing really.
I think it’s a little early in their life cycle for them to make expansions at this point in time.
This is the type of thing I would rather ArenaNet not rush so that it comes out right.
Hope they work on game than more its content plz?
Wonder how many expansions will it take them to have end game.
No expansion in 2013, they had stated awhile ago. Doesn’t mean one isn’t in the works though. How else are they supposed to open crystal desert?
Wonder how many expansions will it take them to have end game.
Zero.
Wonder how many expansions will it take them to have end game.
Zero.
agreed! fotm=/=end game every enjoys.
Tons of people exploiting in high level FoTM 50+ nowaday
Needless to say… Pants were moistened…
So.. if they build it, you will come?
I’ll buy it when it comes out. This game is great, I really enjoy it.
As excited as I am for a GW2 expansion, I’m just as excited that the article also mentions the release of Wildstar.
Engineer
How can they expand the world using content that gets taken away? I mean, we got a horrible island, and two useless instance towns.
I’m hoping they open a red lobster and casino with slot machines at southsun.
Maybe they will, maybe they won’t. ArenaNet and NCSoft seem to be all about contradicting themselves.
At least, if they do release another 2 hours worth of content, and actually call it an expansion, then they can say they actually released an expansions worth of content.
It all just depends on what your definition of ‘is’ is.
Sorry for the sarcasm, but when you are a huge fan that gets disappointed so often in the past 6 months this happens…
If it’s true that they’re making an expansion as this article suggests, however, I’m going to be very, very, very skeptical of buying it. I do not trust that over-hyping marketing department at all any more, and so far I haven’t seen a very well organized project management team with GW2, nor programming and QA that’s much more than minimal effort.
I simply don’t believe that NCSoft/ArenaNet have any desire to be upfront about anything if they don’t have to.
Rangers with rifles. And my ritualist back.
Lots of R-requests in the post. But pretty much everything everyone has suggested, with the exception of playing a new race…just doesn’t excite me.
more end game content, a new profession/new weapons for existing professions, new race, new maps.
-Grunt
WHat I would like to see is the ability for a party to kcik offline members without the entire party being booted from the dungeon…
I would rather have a better customer service than an expansion with new stuff.
It would be brilliant, to see special, created map, what would be some sandbox. People could build there Guild Houses, and upgade it more, and more – eventually you would turn them into castles in the future. The best thing in it would be that every other guild would see the others houses Often in games is a problem, that other people cant see ours Guild House, that we made :/ Its able to see only for members. Also there need to be a thing, that allows to teleport to this house.
And ofc better PvE stuff – good dungeons, who require teamplay, and make that people feels needed there and that they’re making something unique there. Like in the other MMORPG’s it was like some of people was a tanks – they felt special, cause they was responsible for the other group mates. It was the same with healers
PvE need more teamplay, and stuff like that – then people will love it, when they can progres with a guilds, and practice more, and more. One is going to make it slower, others faster, but everyone’s got target then And something to do. And the important thing – If something is hard to do, they should get appropriate reward. Not the same as for doing something easier, cause there’s no sense to do harder thing at all then :P
Of course, without exaggeration, Im not talking about a groups who’s got 25 players, or even 50… Whats really 2much. 5, or 8 is imo perfect number, and every guild can do it then

Check the “Expansion Concepts” link in my sig for hopes and dreams regarding expansions.
There’s alot of stuff I’d like ANet to introduce with expansions.
Mostly, I’d like them to eventually explore Cantha and Elona.
In my opinion, they should introduce them simultaneously, rather than making it a tiered progression like EKalimdor/Azeroth → Outland → Northrend
Anywho. My hopes are
Playable Tengu
Maybe a new profession and a returning one (ritualist)
OH! Ability to play as Jokos undead would be amazing. The floaty things with pointy feat.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Thrall
New weapon types lance <3 halbered, something else
A “God of War/ Shadow of the Colossus” style of Elder Dragon fight
The death of Trehearne.
New armor sets/ dungeons
The mini games that were supposed to already be in the game
Extended personal story
Mursaat
(edited by Henge.3907)
A new planet with mounts of all types -robotic, living mechanical – and an elaborate terrain / zone design to allow that.
+ Guild Halls (This would also give a reason for people to launch GW2 more.)
+ Housing
+ Inspect
+ Duel
+ New features unlock at level 80.
When I reached 400 in cooking I was like ohhh yes. but nothing really changed, it was like as if I was just a 1/400 in cooking.
Guild Wars 2 needs to focus on more of a completion when you finish/accomplish something. (ex: reach level 80, 400 crafting , etc)

If Anet adds Inspect and Duel, it should be Free basic features.
*I am for Dueling it’s optional, not in certain areas
*Inspect, cosmetic only with a simple player/guild introduction, preview window.
+1 for something new and innovative!
Some things i would like:
-New races: Tengu/Caromi + hylek
What I really miss are character description boxes and more emotes, like sitting in chairs, leaning on walls, different types of sitting.. etc.
Only a few things I’d want to see if an expansion ever did come out:
+ More refined under water combat and perhaps more weapon varieties. I feel under water combat isn’t quite as exciting as above ground combat. Plus there’s not much of a reason to show off your super awesome chocolate coated under water gear, and to my knowledge there’s not even exotic water head gear. Water combat just needs more attention.
+ A personal story that doesn’t introduce new characters very often. With the current story, new characters / mentors come along with each new segment (such as with an Asura it’s: Zojja, Order Mentor, Trahearne). You don’t really get to know or care for any of the characters, so we need to have characters that we actually grow attached to and worry about when things get difficult.
+ World bosses with a timer. I don’t like how there’s no failure option with the world bosses now. What happens if, say, the Shatterer survives? Would the Brand be filled with an army of branded creatures that would gradually march south and decimate the remaining Vigil forces? What if we stopped the branded? Could we take on the Shatterer again after its forces are decimated? You get the idea – there needs to be more branching events from a failed world boss.
+ Guild Halls and guild battles because… come on, the game is called “Guild Wars”. Doesn’t the lack of guild halls or guild battles come across as something that might be viewed as false advertising?
+ Dueling outside of PvP arenas or WvW pre-set agreements.
+ The possibility of getting Dungeon gear with karma or gold, much like how the Tier 3 racial weapons are provided via story mode. There’s an alternative method of obtaining gear to most everything in the game.
Or
+ Allowing people to purchase dungeon gear as a skin rather than obtaining all of the stats / runes included within the gear.
+ Allowing people to purchase starting gear (such as the Thief hood or the Guardian shoulders) from a vendor in the home city.
ANet should be more inspired by AION, I know that nobody is playing it now, but it had some really great things with a good potential which were pretty much wasted on a dying game.
For example, account creation (character customization) was actually the BEST I’ve ever seen in my life. And as every mmo, GW2 is a social game where depends on the actual look.
Also, warhoses would be amazing in WvW (in addition to golems).
In a GW2 was said that when you see some new area, you will definitely say: “Wow, I’ve never seen something like this before!” But the actual “Wow” effect is not that great, vice versa I had this feeling, I loved Balaurea zones.
I would also love dungeon where you start on a boat sailing to some cave on the island, we would get ship fights, underwater fights etc.
Guild Houses, private houses, private islands where you can like battle someone 1v1…
Skydiving from sky, or maybe using some kind of ancient flying machine that lasts for a short time. I would love to jump from a top of a really high mountain, seeing only clouds and slowly glide all the way down.
More playable races.
Skritt, Quaggan, Kodan, Hylek, Largos, Tengu.
Cities and environments fitting each group.
At least Skritt and Hylek have places that could be used already for this purpose, and Tengu and Largoss have huge, unrevealed areas to build into.
Mounts.
I know this kind of thing is against the whole Guild Wars concept for some reason, but I think it would be nice to have a horse or some kind of traveling contraption to get around with. It could be a sort of playable character in and of itself, able to be leveled up and to attack, or use special abilities to outrun/evade monsters or reach hard to access areas.
TWO HANDED AXES.
Seriously, developers, what happened?
More Asuran weapons for Engineers.
More weapons in GENERAL for Engineers. I know they have their kits they can use… but why not a hammer? You would think that in a game where everything can be fixed by whacking it with a mallet, Engineers would be the best at it! Also, some of the “experimental” weapons in the game make me drool, like the “frost flamethrower” thing you can get near the Golem world boss, or the elemental gun you can get near Teq the Sunless.
New Worlds.
They have already given the basis for an idea of a world either overun with or made up of Machine versions of this world’s creatures. A portal should be created/found that allows people to enter said world and explore it.
Also, the idea hakitten me of a portal added into Cursed Shores that allows a player to travel back in time to Ancient Orr… BEFORE anything happened, and explore there as well. Perhaps either simply to see what everything was like before the continent sank, learn more of the histories of Orr and it’s people, and perhaps to gain some insight into a new skill, weapon or suchlike, or to engage in combat with the Charr invasion, trying to save Orr yourself… right up until the casting of the spell that sunk the place. It would be sort of a long history of the doomed country letting people truly experience the overall horror of what was lost all that time ago by seeing it firsthand.

Duels
ALOT MORE PVP >.<…..PvP is sluggish because its based randomly instead of “how good are you” And even if you orginize a good group of ppl you even have to find another group of ppl to fight against, or randomly go into the tournament, which again, gives basecly no fun if they arent orginized….:s more maps where it isnt the same thing would be nice to xD
Actualy, i dont hope for a real expansion yet, but some really good adjustments regarding pvp
For an expansion, I would like two new playable races; one for each expansion. For a Canthan-style expansion, I’d like to see the Tengu, since there is already the Dominion of Winds, between Lion’s Arch and Kessex Hills. For an Elonian-style expansion, I’d like to see the Centaur, since in Guild Wars: Nightfall, you had Elonian Centaurs aiding the Sunspears and other Humans not loyal to Varesh Ossa. Centaurs can be a playable race, if and only if an Elona expansion comes out. Look and the old MMO known as Shadowbane. That game had Centaur as a playable race, and since then, no other MMO has had a non-bipedal race: Guild Wars 2 can be the return of the Centaur as a playable race.
We could use new weapons and/or weapon types, such as the scythe, polearm, and/or crossbow. (There are bows, and there are firearms, so why aren’t there any crossbows???)
You know what I want?
THIS:
I’d be happy if the expansion did nothing more but polish the game to resemble what was promised to us 2 years ago.
(edited by Kaaboose.3897)
some other weapons i think would be really cool would be the whip a two handed axe a land spear and even like a crossbow plus i think mounts would be very cool and nice looking in the awesome graphics they would be very prestigious and would really make some players look elite
You know what I want?
THIS:I’d be happy if the expansion did nothing more but polish the game to resemble what was promised to us 2 years ago.
Wonder if Anet remembers they even made that video. Because I certainly don’t see any of that in-game. Same things I loved about GW1 huh? Ok, point me in the direction of said things. Thanks.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
level cap increase: with new rarer than legendary weapons that are BETTER than the regular weapons NOT JUST COSMETIC!….same goes for armor
the return of the dervish and ritualist class
(this one is really important) new types of weapons and more INTERCHANGABLE weapon skills for weapons in existence now
the return of enchancments and hexes (the buffs and debuffs we have now feel very plain and stale)
the return of cantha and elona….and most importantly the domain of anguish
Like i said.
Races: Tengu, Hylek, Skritt (at least)
New exotic ranger pets: Griffin (best example)
I want to go to Kourna or Cantha obviously
If not those two then I want to explore Crystal desert, Northern Shiverpeaks, Ring of Fire(places already on map)
They could give us Underworld, I mean there is SB and portals already.
New soldier class
Im excited for anything!!!
Races: Tengu, Centar
Places: Cantha and Kourna are obvious choices
Professions: Ritulist and Dervish (I love rits)
Expansion on the current classes as well (more skills/elites and possibly more weapon choices coming from at least the dervs weapon)
I know it’s gonna be a while but that’s what I want/see happening (Or at least HOPE with Cantha. It was my favorite of the three original games).
I would love to play with the ritualist again. Though I think a unique weapon for every class could further define them and possibly make them better. How about the following….
Warrior – 2 handed axes
Guardian – Flail
Thief – Fist weapons or maybe throwing knives (medium ranged weapon maybe)
Mesmer – Whip
Elementalist – Quarter staff
Necromancer – Scythe – the scythe skin on a staff is just not good enough
Ranger – Crossbow
Engineer – Give that man a Shotgun
Id love to see halberds, polearms or a spear on one of the classes. And make the tengu playable, those guys are awesome. Guessing with unique weapons the balancing would be a pain.
I’m hoping they open a red lobster and casino with slot machines at southsun.
Lmao… Awesome

I’m sure they sold a lot of people off that video though. Had me siked back “in the day”
