Why do you assume the delay has anything to do with figuring out who should get it?

Having a list of eligible players is one thing.

Creating the actual reward that can be mailed out to each eligible player, testing it, and then actually sending them out is another. There is a bit of development and QA effort in the 2nd part. I think it is fair to say the 2nd part is a lot more work.

‘people’ that didn’t attend chose not too because of the disappointing previous live events. I am among those who were prepared to happily ignore it. There are also many, including my brother, that could not attend due to real life obligations. This chest breaks with a tried and proven tradition of Guild Wars to shy away from excessively difficult/expensive to obtain or tradeable valuables. A twenty slot chest (granted, one i would’nt use in a thousand years, but still a valuable item to most people), a celestial accessory (probably taking at least 70g to get now) and PRECURSORS!

Those traditions have now been blown into a thousand pieces. The best solution is to let the dissenters and those who couldn’t attend have a shot at the chest as well. I am not concerned in this because of wanting the box or the accessory. I would probably destroy both within a week for various reasons. They were also bound, which was considerable foresight for a otherwise vary impulsive looking loot table. Precursors though, might stand to create a new tradition that would be incredibly destructive to the game’s economy, akin to the impact of gold sellers.

Oh, and all the people who tried to attend, but for various reasons couldn’t get in. I can’t imagine exactly how it would work, but i really don’t doubt this.

You know the number of times I’ve been left with no reward from a dungeon glitch is so high, I think it’s really unfair to reimburse people for this event when others of us should have many hundreds more dungeon tokens and chest rewards that we’ve lost out on due to ArenaNet bugs.

Thats plain and simple. You can do dungeons again. You cant do Karka event again since its “one time only event”.

I find it amusing you would bring up the subject of QA in any thread involved with the Lost Shores event… har dee har har.

Not addressing dungeon rewards bugs but bugs in general grind my gear, not the bugs sorry, the lack of fixes for the bugs 3 months after launch. I have to ask WHY they insist on adding new content when their original is still bugged in many places from events to item icons, personal story to difficulty, etc.

Wintersday can go to hell as far as I am concerned, I would rather they fix the current content before attempting to add more content, feels like they just want to please the players who play the game 24/7 and are whining because they have nothing left to do.

The “Karka Crash” should have been priority and it is now 3 weeks later and more players are just turning their backs on this game every time they fob us off with another “working on it” excuse.

Well more correct to say it was ment to be a one time event. Probably too late for suggestions but rather than trying to work out where every character on every account was so they know who was in who was out and who was trying.
Flag the people who have looted the chest, run the event one more day, preferably not 9am monday NZ time, make it clear the chest is once per account so you dont have people shut out while others run the event 3 or 4 times.

Those that missed out get to experience the event, those that got booted by the reset get to finish.

Yes i know its another three hour grind for those that had their finger tips on the chest when things reset but just an idea.

Hooray! From a technical perspective, I’m curious, how does the script know who is missing a reward?

What I hope is that they do this correctly. It is not easy to determine participation in the event. There were tons of overflows, disconnections, log-in issues, IMO anyone logged in during the event (participation or not) and that didn’t get to the chest, should get the participation credit. And of course, login and logout/disconnections are sure to be all logged somewhere so they can actually do this just giving the credit to all logged in minus those that already opened the chest.

And no, this is not trying to get me a shot at the credit. I couldn’t even log in during that special magical gold raining time so I’ll be excluded regardless of how they want to detect participation. That’s what sucks about once in a lifetime events.

I hope this is extended to those of who didn’t DC but crashed to DT at the end. I participated for almost 3 hours. When crashed I logged back in quickly, but the event was over.

A more interesting question is how they determine participation in the event. Getting near the event, being logged in during the time, killing NPC’s, doing damage, etc…

Hi, so I read the FB post and my friend(s) got their chest, I have a question about it.

When I went to log in to participate in the final event, I was never even able to log on due to connectivity issues so I never got to participate at all/partly. I also have not done stage 1/2 of the event and just was going to do the third stage of it.

My question is, would I still be getting the chest or since I never participated in any of the events do I get nothing at all?
Or is it so that everyone who did not get to open the chest, regardless of participation or not is going to receive the chest?

If I could get an answer that would be wonderful, thank you

1. They don’t have such logs.
2. It’s for those who PARTICIPATED but got disconnected.

You still have a chance. Taking logs of people who participated in the event (→hitted the boss) and didn’t open the chest is probably easier.

During the lost shores event, after nearly 3 hours of participation I was lagged out and disconnected during the karka event. Today you claimed to reimburse players who had this problem. However, because a guild-mate who had already looted the chest got the mail with yet another precursor, it seems to me you just gave them out randomly. I hope this isn’t the case.

The mail is giving people a chance at precursors? I thought they’d just give everyone the bag and accessory as a consolation prize.

I’d be happy with a bag or accessory. Getting nothing, however… makes me sad.

They said in an earlier post that anyone who was disconnected, regardless of whether they posted a ticket, would be identified in the process. That being said, no-one really knows what parameters they are using to decide who is eligible.

Couple of guildies have their box already, but I’m still kind of rewardless.

Guess I’ll be waiting it out for a couple hours before wondering if my contribution was forgotten.

I think the problem was, my computer froze, but I didn’t altf4 my gw2 client for over an hour after it happened, then it still took almost another hour to log back in.

Let me just say a LARGE thank you to Anet, they really came through for the player base with the reward, I was really worried how they were going to handle this but the came through for us so THANK YOU!!

I just hope more players are courteous enough to show their appreciation too.

I was on the verge of turning my back on you guys after it all, I even stopped playing for a few days after the crash. After hugely supporting since GW1 original launch it would have been a shame to say goodbye to the thousands of hours I had spent on both games over the past 7-8 years. I am very glad you listened to players and did your best, I could only imagine that you could have lost a huge portion of your player base and that could have been the end of the game.

You saved a lot of players and not because of what you gave out but because you did reward them and did not leave them on the short end of the stick. Again, not the size of the reward that mattered, just that you cared enough to take care of your players and end a lot of frustration. In the future please remember to correctly plan out events and hopefully we will never see this happen again
