I’m a happy customer now – mail arrived with chest this morning (06:30 GMT on December 8th). Bag, trinket, 2 level 80 rares and 2 level 80 exotic armor pieces, one which will be good for my guardian alt and one which sold for about 4 gold. This was pretty much what I was hoping for.
Actually had a very prompt and helpful response to my support ticket which I sent yesterday – got an answer within the hour advising me to check my mailbox was not full, but when I replied to confirm I had checked this got another response a few hours later explaining they are indeed looking into cases where players were at the event but had not received the mail. Shortly after logging in this morning the email arrived.

this is the first message I send on the forums just to say thank you Anet for fixing this. I just got my karka box. Yesterday I didn’t had any mail before I go to sleep (10 hours ago) and was reading ticket responses to other people saying script was over and those that didn’t get it didn’t qualify (huge disappointment) then I read CMs here on the forums saying there was an investigation to see what went wrong and it would most likely take a few days. Today voila!
Well I dont know what you did and when you did it but thank you. I didn’t even have to send ticket. I’m sure its going to be fixed for others too soon.
My faith in you is fully restored Anet.
(For the record I just got bag, jewel, rares and 2 exotics worth 1.5g each but that doesn’t matters, being fair is important)
I did get my chest today. Seafarer’s Rest (EU) I guess they just had to reroll the script a couple more times. For me its a good will of faith to the community. Lets just learn with past mistakes.

I just read they were just distributing with a new script and I checked my mail, finally got my karka box today. 2 Karka items + 2 rares and 2 exotics is quite nice.
Script ran again and I didn’t get a chest again, so far every staff member I spoke beat around the bush when I gave them my situation and never once got a clear answer.
I was “at” the event but I could NOT log in. At all. Each time I tried to log in I got prompted with the message that I was unable to connect and to try again. I tried for 2 hours straight and was unable to log in. I play on a U.S server in Europe so the hours for the event where really late for me, but I accept this since it’s my choice to play on a U.S server. However I just want an answer not from the player base but from a staff member who can tell me for sure.
With my circumstances; being “at” the event but never having been able to log in from the start of the event till the end of the event. Does this make me any less eligible for the chest than some that weren’t at the event at all or intended to and got the chest?

some people who got the chest from the event received another via mail and might even receive a third one from the second wave of mailed chests, whilst other players who got dc/ed or couldn’t log in during the event at all might not get anything at all?
Here’s my advice to you, anet:
Next time you do a great server crash one time event, add a flag for “received reward” to the user accounts.
The flag should default to false, changing to true after the player received the reward. That way, your script only has to mail rewards to those who are still flagged false and no one can get the reward multiple times.
I’m just trying to be helpful whilst waiting for confirmation that I won’t be eligible for a chest…
I don’t honestly care if I get 0 chests or 10 chests, I will be sorely disappointed if the following people don’t get at least one chest:
- Those who played most of the weekend event but are unlucky to live on another time zone so couldn’t make it to the final event
- Those who played most of the weekend event but are unlucky to actually have to work or other commitment so couldn’t make it to the final event
- Those who played most of the weekend but weere caught by the lag and bugs during Friday and Saturday (Arena’s fault) and gave up trying on Sunday
To me there’s only one way to fix this mess: give one chest to anyone who has logged in during the weekend. Heck, to anyone who has at least one karka kill on their monthly achievement.

Ok I’m from seafarer’s rest (EU). I attended the first few parts of the event, and got half way through pushing the ancient kraka back to her lair then dced. Never got to fighting her. I just received my chest this morning. No precursors, but I’m still happy as a toddler with a free lolipop. I’d kinda started drifting away after the whole messed up event thingy, but I think I’ll get back to playing regularly now.
I just want to say to anet that I’m really happy with they way you handled this. We know that no one is perfect and mistakes happen, but what make you good developers is that you always try to fix your mistakes, instead of pretending they never happened. So kudos to you, and good luck with the game.

How do you explain people who got to loot the chest before getting another reward by the mails for no reason?

If you have not participated in the event, you can always wait. You won’t get anything.
If you haven’t understood I can repeat – it was impossible to teleport to the final event due to the constant disconnections. Hope I cleared your sarcasm.
Still nothing here. I took part in the events all weekend but missed the final one on Monday morning due to the whole “having a job” thing. Mates of mine who were away the entire weekend have got chests but I don’t qualify? Seriously?
These one time events are laggy, bug ridden and exclude a large chunk of the player base from new content. North America gets access to the epic stuff, the rest of us get to grind. Sorry, not going to work out.
More mini dungeons, more dynamic events. More event chains with a monthly theme (Peace talks in Harathi Hinterlands, doomed to descend back into war). More story, more gear side-grades instead of upgrades. More events that run for up to a week with instanced content rather than one-off zerg rush, so we can play the game in our time zone with our guild mates. These are the things that could have been done instead of the Maple Story junk we are getting.
I said nearly a month ago I would like to see the following steps taken to get Guild Wars 2 back on track and start living up to the manifesto:
1) Make good on the rewards from the Karka event. It won’t make up for missing the content but giving everyone a chest at least levels the playerbase and doesn’t just give a boost to North American players.
2) No more one off events. Structure them differently. All players in all time zones are supposed to be equal. That means equal access to content.
3) Stop the gear grind at Ascended. That genie is out of the bottle but end it there. Add more ways to get Ascended gear. Less RNG, less grinding the same nine fractals. This isn’t Aion.
This roll out of chests is the first step. Going by the debacle it has become I don’t have a lot of faith in the last two steps ever being completed. After so many years waiting for the game laid out in the manifesto I would like to see it.

Yeah, still nothing here. No response to any support tickets either. Maybe they are losing staff as fast as they are losing players?
I had a couple of issues on Saturday night playing Planetside 2. I had to raise two tickets, both were addressed and resolved inside of 10 minutes. Now that was a breath of fresh air.
I am still clinging to an ever fading hope ANet will somehow get it together and deliver the GW2 talked about in the manifesto. So much potential currently being lost.
today I have learned of some people who got the reward chest via mail, despite not only not partaking in the Lost Shores event, but not even logging in during the entire Event at all

I’ve given up on this. I love this game, and will continue to play daily, but the customer care is severly lacking. With the event bugging out and people still not getting their reward, and now the company giving out free digital deluxes to only brand new players, and nothing to their loyal players, I just give up.
Nearly a week now. No chest, both support tickets I have raised still open and unanswered. No information from ArenaNet. Nothing.
It’s like they don’t like having paying customers. Well ok, that last gem purchase of mine was the final one from me. After Aion I was reluctant to play GW2 due to the NCSoft tag but my friends persuaded me that ArenaNet would rise above the dross. They were sadly wrong and actually left the game weeks ago. The name ArenaNet is one to be avoided now it would seem.
If you ever decide you want to get back to the manifesto and build the game your fans were hanging out for then email me. LOL, yeah right, you don’t even answer support tickets. kitten it.

Meanwhile, people who weren’t online either receive chests anyway, and some who already got the reward since they didn’t get dc/ed get multiple chests mailed to them.
So, some players get like 5 chests, others get none.
Awesome job, anet.
Good thing you save the economy with your stupid anti farming code, people farming a dozen T6 bloods a day are way more problematic to the economy than gifting part of the playerbase with several precursers, whilst giving nothing to others.
Don’t get me wrong, I still like the game, but the way anet handles things, especially in regards to customer service, events and QA is just horrible.

Yeah same here, my friend who didn’t went for the event got a chest while i didn’t..
I assume that’s because i run a ranger as main :/
Got mine when I logged in last week just to see if ANet had indeed sent out consolation prizes to those who couldn’t down the boss. I wasn’t really planning on playing again because MWO had gone open beta and it’s a pretty good game now ECM’s implemented.
With that in mind I thought it’d be particularly funny if the box dropped some good loot…. Open box, get precursor, damn you ANet :P
Still got nothing, I wrote to the support and:
Hello,
At this time, we have finished delivering the rewards for the Lost Shores event to all accounts that qualified and had not already received the chest. This was done through a coding script for any account found to have qualified for the chest and those added by development for special situations. If you have not received a chest then you most likely did not meet the requirements to have these items added to your account.
Now that said there does also appear to be some issues with the mail system. It seems mail boxes are getting stuck and not receiving new mails even when they are not full. So I would suggest clearing out everything in that mail box; after making sure to grab any items or money in there. That should allow more room for those pending mails to arrive. We have heard some cases where only deleting a few mails still didn’t allow the pending mails to arrive properly (for example some players may even show 1 out of 10 mails but still won’t get new ones). So I would again suggest making sure everything has been deleted in there, just to make sure there is nothing at all preventing the mails from being received.
As this was done through an automated process we have no way to manually award this chest. So if after you empty your mail the chest still doesn’t arrive, then your account was not found to have qualified for a restoration and I’m afraid you will not receive the chest.
Thanks anet, some people got 3 or 4, some others got one without even partecipating at the event or being logged in at the time, and people who got disconnected during it like me get NOTHING.

Hi there;
We are very sorry to hear you still have not received a chest. Development did actually make concessions for all special cases when they did another round of chest rewards though, and at this time though they have sent out all the chests they are going to send. Since this was all handled on the development side of things, if you haven’t received a chest now, then I’m afraid you will not receive one. We don’t have a way on our end of things to send these out. So while we understand your frustration I’m afraid we don’t have a way to provide you with a chest if one wasn’t sent to you.
