First and foremost, release an official statement on your official forums!
Second, extend the event for a week.
Third, scrap the gold required for rewards.
And lastly give more blooms, as new players are not going to want to grind, grind, grind!

+1 especially on the gold requirement. Problem with it, especially at its current cost is the gold will simply be deleted from the game. All those hard won drops and vendoring will go poof and not into the hands of another player on the TP where it can actually circulate.

It’s better in the long run for that gold to be removed.

I wouldn’t even agree with you even if we were earning gold in this event which we aren’t. Even with the terrible Pavilion 2.0 Event where we had to use currency+gold to get so called rewards from the vendor, at least that event gave you drops. If you find this rewarding in any way shape or form, enjoy it. This is a bad event for new players as they have a lack of gold and they are getting no karma, no drops, no gold, and no xp to boot and it’s bad for vets because many of us have some/most/all of the items from the reward vendor.

Please explain why you think a reward vendor for an event specifically aimed at new players needs a gold sink. (ArenaNet’s own recommended level is to be at least level 18). New players don’t have the gold to blow on this event. If I were new I’d rather go play where I was getting XP/Karma/Gold/Drops.

Agree completely. I don’t need the vendor rewards as I already have most of them. the only reason for me to do this event would be if loot drops..which it doesn’t. Even ‘normal’ loot would entice me to do this again!

Really disappointed.

Well…it’s been pretty clear for a while now that Anet doesn’t like giving loot to players. You either have to pay for your rewards or get none at all!!!

I honestly don’t remember an event that has come out recently where normal trash mobs would give loot; Scarlet invasions, maybe?….

And remember all of the complaints where people would farm mobs rather than complete the events?

Yes, I remember those complaints. But the problem isn’t with completing the events, the problem is where/what the player feels will give him the better reward. Event completion gained you less rewards over-all than just farming the mobs would. I mean, just look at how most of the dynamic events in the game are ignored. You get more for killing monsters than you do for completing the event.

But…that’s just my opinion so….there’s my 2 cents. Have an awesome rest of the day!

The amount of salt generated by the mess up is pretty negative, I believe you should just cancel event and redo it when its fixed. It’s not a good impression for the new players experiencing it. Barely anyones wanting to do the events now because it doesn’t feel rewarding. Send a in game mail to everyone and address the situation, that should be easy enough.

This has been covered already, but the design that mobs drop no loot or events give no karma is bad. Ive done 4 whole events now and im tired of it, no sense of progression and reward.

Go back to the Aetherblade invasion, the championfarm back then was fun.

Someone else on the map ended with 27 stacks. Just Waypoint jumped.

Confused why an event rewards poor team playing over working together as a group. o.o’’

Cancel this nonsense right now and rethink your valuation of your player’s time and effort. Even if the events were giving rewards it’s way WAY too low and there’s way WAY too much down time between events. This is worst designed content Anet has ever released, and that’s not a good sign for the future. You should be getting better.

I would have to agree, as well.

The bickering and complaining never stops in map chat. It’s too toxic for me to want to continue.

New players will get a bad taste in their mouth.

We can wait. Please just take it down and fix it and allow everyone to enjoy it when it’s brought back up. Thank you.

I work this weekend sure people do as any one can tell you, but I can still play around 4-5hrs 6 if im an idiot. So The difference here is its 4 days and with the possibility of getting 0-5 tokens per rewards feels just wrong. Having an instance where new people are not able to level off the event kind of hurts, after the F2P announcement its kind of odd that they would have 10g already out side of RMT.
My personal concern is that the 0-5 statement for the tokens is harsh where some items cost 30 tokens and others in the hundreds. To get that many tokens with the possible aspect of getting 0 just is gross. Seeing people get nothing for doing it for 1-2hrs feels bad. If I was new and this was my 1st live event I would not be to happy about my purchase. Please either extend the event or set the tokens received to reflect the amount of time and effort placed into the events. You hyped this event in many ways, I was very excited to see what would happen. Now once I leave work its do some dungeons, pvp and maybe a fractal or two. I might try the world event who knows. Just a feel bad if I was new or had recently bought the game sorry Anet this event just feels lame now.

ANet,

We need the totals we can expect from drops in this event. I applaud you for your effots to fix the bugs and am glad we can expect the rewards in a few days, however, I have an issue; I have no frame of reference to know whether this event is “for me”. The reason I say this is because I’d quite like some of the items in the event but I don’t know much I’m being rewarded for each event completion — and I’m not likely to find out for several days — so this means I don’t know if my efforts in this event are in vain or not.

Please release the numbers we can expect to farm – you owe us this as the content is released without this crucial info (your fault, let’s face it).

Sorry to be here complaining, I do truly enjoy your game otherwise.

Theres a bug preventing rewards. Its being fixed, but unless you look at social media or forums, players in game dont understand what is happening and why 30mins of time is giving nothing. Thus the spiral of arguing. Its not pretty in map chat…

Plus the rewards vendor is expensive (seemingly) and some ppl dont like the event (seems as expected to me, but each to their own)

It can be yes. TSW did a bold move merging everything into almost a single currency for everyything, incl raid gear. Ie what Karma was hoped to achieve.

Again, im kinda ok with it here, but currencies must be in the wallet. That reduces a lot of the problems straight off.

What’s the alternative? I can think of 3:

1) All the events reward a fixed item, either all the same one or one for each map/event type. This would drastically decrease the incentive to repeat the event, and there would have to be fewer rewards which would mean some players wouldn’t be interested in any of them.

2) The rewards are random. I’m not sure I even need to explain why this would be a bad idea, but the short version is a lot of people would get items they don’t want, some people would never get the ones they do want, and everyone ends up frustrated.

3) They reward a currency that already exists, which means some players would already have a stockpile and could get all the rewards without even participating. Maybe not a terrible thing, but it does defeat the point of the rewards, which is to get players to participate.

Special events have special currencies. When the event is over there is no way to get more and while they keep the NPC around to cash them in the left over are game tokens found in your junk drawer from a long dead arcade.

What I would like is some notification as to if these left over reward tokens will ever be used again so I can flush them or not. I ended up tossing a tri-key only to find out they dropped the chest into the new Lion’s Arch. Gee, thanks. Now I don’t want to get rid of anything anymore.

Besides all the lameness to its blooming rewards, also the lore is completely missing;

An email pops into your email box stating something is going on. and that’s it. no map cinematics, no actual npc’s with interesting dialogs on the maps regarding the event, nothing, oh yeah a vendor with super expensive stuff we’ll never be able to buy with the event begin broken in the first place and only 3 days left… awesome.

This feels indeed like a quick and cheap diversion to keep us busy. Yes you could say some aspects of this event leave some room for improvement…

1) If it’s an area I don’t like, I’m not going to play in that area anyway. For example: Dry top. I mapped the area and rarely did any events. So I was not able to obtain any of the fossil weapons. If they had stuck with karma or gold, then I could farm an area I like and get the fossil weapons I want. There is absolutely no reason to lessen rewards in any area.

2) Rewards don’t need to be random. They could sell everything like they do now, buy from a merchant in the area.

3) I don’t have a problem if some players have billions of a currency and can buy whatever they want. They should be able to buy whatever they want since they play the game all the time.

Since there are no rewards, I have no idea how many events I would need to do to have enough blooms to buy what I want from the vendor. Guys you’ll get the rewards you’re owed just delayed.. Its really not a big deal.

It actually IS a big deal, and here is why.

People have done the math illustrating that if the reward was in fact 5 blooms, it would take all but 4 hours of the available time to actually get a skin from the vendor, thus effectively making them impossible (and thus pointless).

They are expecting people to simply do the events while receiving no reward while simply promising some reward later that no one knows about. That sound like something you want to do? You want to farm events for 5 hours and end up with 25 freaking blooms at some point? They have skirted the issue literally all day, from the moment this started happening and some people reported the amount they actually got. Every single thread about the Mordrem event has someone asking for clarification on if 5 is the actual number only to be repeatedly ignored while having other questions answered by Gaile. There is simply no way that question was not relayed and it is being skirted for some reason. What that is, who knows, but it definitely does not look good.

Mordrem Invasion reward scheme (once Anet gets it working) is faulty by design – your blooms scale by the number of incursion events you partake in. This makes tagging in to as many events as possible the most effective means of getting the blooms and the rewards behind them. However, tagging and running to next event is quite counter-intuitive, and can hurt the cooperative effort of the map. So, that’s the problem explained, now for the fix.

Make each incursion two events. The first event is as is right now, but doesn’t increase the event counter that your blooms scale to. The second one triggers once the first is completed, scales to the amount of players present (in order to not die too quickly, so as to not prevent people present getting their credit, but fast enough that you need to be in the vicinity to make it), and counts for the incursion counter. Of course, some would still attempt to tag the second event and run, but sticking around for the full event would be far more lucrative than it is now.

Only fools and heroes charge in without a plan.
