I noticed, and i claim this for a fact, that when more than certain amount of people is farming in a small area, unless you have a team you will not get a single drop!

Tested it with a guild several times. While everyone has a party in 20 man farm, each champion drops at least a blue. As soon as you leave the party and farm on your own, nothing, not even a glob of glooby gloop.

I doubt that is intentional, and I doubt that this is the way you want to make people form parties for. And please don’t tell this is not how its working, because we tested it for several hours and every time a person went solo, that person didn’t get any drops at all.

Thats why I see LFG in Orr when ppl are doing event or killing a champion even if they are in the same place.

^Same here. Always shout out LFG when I get to Orr.
Funny thing about Champs & Vets though. You can be completely alone and kill them solo and still get nothing. Absolutely zero reward and none of the damage was shared with another player.
I went into Fractal lvl 1 by myself today just for kicks. Never been and certainly don’t have time for a full run but… I digress. Anyway I finished the first part solo and freed the 3 people in the cages. I don’t know exactly how many Veteran Kraits are in there since I didn’t have time to count them but I do know that when I went back to collect the sparklies from the corpses the only thing I got from a Vet krait was one armored scale. The barracudas gave me some whites and blues at least.
I didn’t get past that last krait as the little dolphin so I don’t even know what’s past it but I was really hoping that the vets inside the fractals were a little more generous.

Just pointing out, an “X-file” is a case where there is no “real” explanation, saying this problem is such is not the same as calling us liars or delusional, but that there might not seem to be an immediate, clear explanation (at least that is the definition I’ve always had on “X-files” :P).

That being said, there is certainly something wrong, and I am sure most can be attributed to this DR-system, it seems very strict indeed, and the insane RNG (mixed with gigantic loot tables). As most people say, we don’t want it to “rain loot”, but a bit of a reward would be nice, and rewards are close to non-existent for mostly everything not token based.

This should be seen as a real problem by the developers, as it diminishes fun of events, farming and dungeons (which are all part of the game, like it or not). Of course loot should not be the top priority of events or even dungeons, but this is something players are going to do for hours and hours, and not really getting anything in return ruins morale so to speak, one does not feel the desire to play through such events more than 2-3 times.

Magic Find as pointed out should be used by those who wants better and more drops, but one (at least I) don’t really feel that MF has much of an impact on neither drops nor quality of the loot. MF mixed with DR is a complete contradiction to each other, and seem like (extremely sorry, but needs to be said) pure stupidity.

I still have high hopes for this game, especially with the new living story elements, making dungeons more fun and WvWvW improvement, but if this continues, you WILL lose customers. In a micro-transaction game without a monthly fee, this would be devastating (or at least I would think so). So please developers, listen to your customers, it is your game of course, but you made this for others to play, and should take note of constructive criticism.

I truly hope we can reach a middle ground here that would be fair to everyone, so once again, I beg you, something needs to be done.

(sorry for bad grammar, wall o’ text and so on. first forum post )

I notice comments made re “grinders” “farmers” and other unflattering terms to imply somehow that ’grinders" are an undesirable subset they compare to “Normal People” and players, going as far as to compare them with “Donkeys chasing a carrot”. (not my words, pardon)

Well. Seems that grinding is “working as intended”. One set of rares on a Character, armor and weapons, 150 fine craft comps, excluding Jewelry. Given the current drop rate, if you intend to gather that many comps, you will grind. If you have 6 chars leveling, you will grind a lot. If you are not grinding for the comps, you will be grinding for the gold to buy them. Since they are level and mob specific drops, you will be grinding on mobs in given areas and levels, more subject to whatever DR threshold there is, and it is unavoidable.

This is not about Legendaries, Shiny Uber gear, “phat lewt”. It is about acquisition of basic materials to accomplish a basic game function. It effects crafting at all levels, it is not about endgame.

I’ve yet to see an informative suggestion as to how to acquire components like this without grinding of some sort.

Yes, they consider grinders a bad thing, but drops on rare mats (Lodestones for example) are so bad that without grinders there would be none in the TP. It’s the grinders and bots that primarily populate high-end items in the TP. The problem is that they’ve nerfed drops so bad that even common items (Say T3-T4 mats) are becoming so uncommon that you have to grind to get them. So they have the whole thing in a vicious circle where materials are worth more than anything you can craft with them and grinding for the materials you need imposes DR, so the TP is broken, crafting is broken, which leaves anyone starting out with the option to grind endlessly for mats, which is considered bad or buy gems…which I think is the ultimate goal…to push people to the gem store.

I have a theory that they don’t fix the bots permanently, which should be easily detected in any number of ways, especially teleporting bots, simply because without the bots, they would have no reason to be so stingy in game. Perhaps they even run some of the bots…who knows. They wouldn’t be the first company to pull such shady tricks. I don’t care what anyone says, DR has done far more damage to this great game than bots ever did.

You guys clearly don’t get it.

The DR is not to stop bots. It’s to stop legit players from making gold so they will buy gem to convert into gold.

It’s not going away and it’s not going to get any better. That’s why I left.

1)
This was taken from another thread, which I quoted.

That being said, we’re trying to offset some of that random chance by implementing systems like our new laurel system (and other additions down the road) to help give players more opportunities to earn specific rewards as well over time. This gives the capacity for those exciting “jackpot” moments of getting a big reward, while also helping provide a more clear long term timeline when you can earn the same reward for those who don’t hit the moment-to-moment jackpot since for those who are extremely unlucky, it can be very frustrating.

So, in other words, DR bugged RNG and ANet couldn’t fix it or didn’t want to fix it, and instead opted to add new systems such as Laurels to offset this bugged feature (DR)?

2)

We can officially confirm this as an X-files level conspiracy at this point.

Time for a new thread – The X-files: share your NDEs with DR.

3)
Killed few vets/champs and all I got was junk, scraps or low level jumk. Nothing more insulting than getting a porous bone from a champion I tell ya.

4)
Got a yellow from harvesting though. Took me +5 minutes to stop laughing because this happend after killing the champ.

5)
Colin Johanson. I (we) appreciate the work ANet has done with regards to this, however, the only logical solution to this debacle would be to remove DR code for a certain period so that players can respond back with their “perceived” loot findings. Otherwise, we’ll keep on running in circles. This is my opinion and one which seems to be shared with others. Is it that hard to remove the DR code? Or you don’t want to?

Just wanted to give a quick update on this topic. We’ve completed verifying every update from the november release, and there were zero changes to anything what so ever that would have negatively affected loot in any way/shape/form. We can officially confirm this as an X-files level conspiracy at this point.

An odd statement for two reasons, the first one is that you seem to be directly insulting your players (or at least the ones who complained of this), the second is that – at least according to my recollection of the X-Files – a lot of those conspiracies turned out to be true. Should we keep an eye out for posts from the ArenaNet employee called The Smoking Man? :-P

Either way, I’m glad that you managed to rule out a bug but I have to remain sceptical given the bugs that (presumably) the same people miss in each new release. This includes the loot bugs introduced in the latest patch (ranger laurel boxes giving out rifles, the loot chests containing the wrong rarity loot and so on) and especially after killing a number of veterans and champions that definitely did not drop any loot today.

We’re in the midst of evaluating every loot table in the game and running massive random roll evaluations table by table, as well as evaluating every system game wide that causes a player to qualify for items to determine if any issues exist in those systems from launch.

Will update again when we have another round of concrete information.

I hope your testing is done under the exact same conditions as on the actual game servers, as in massive concurrent loot rolling and assignment, including any database transactions required and also including simulations of, for example, what happens when a group of people down a champ. The problem may lie outside of the actual “rolling” after all.

That was quite interesting as well as confusing/ disturbing (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Dragon-chest-bugged/first).
It contributes to the buggy DR issue.
And again too many questions remaining…
Chests can be (un)intentionally affected by DR? (It seems they don’t know how exactly that happens/ is connected if they have to examine it?)
We can get hit by DR when doing an event before fighting against a dragon?

Although this obviously seems to be a bug, it could indicate that DR is more complex or wide-spread than we thought.
And if these chests can be affected by (a buggy) DR, it doesn’t seem too delusional to consider whether the boogeyman DR is haunting some players due to a misbehaving DR. It also could be a working as intended DR, but then it is way too harsh, because it affects legit players in such a way. Regardless if they are farming or not.

I played for an hour tonight. I hit the DR and logged off. I traveled through 2 zones trying to get Sesame Seed. (I was unsuccessful—-I got a carrot) I did my daily in Ashford and Blazeridge, killed many vets got stacks of dull or broken this or that. My goal was sesame seed.

DR is like a mother telling you you have played enough of the game, and to get off the computer.

I am 56 years old. My mother is dead. Who knew that Anet would become my mother. Who knew I even needed one this late in life.

DR needs to go. Quit punishing everyone for the sins of a few.

@Navi – Thanks for that link. I really wanted to post about how DR hits after about an hour and does not go away no matter what steps you take: change maps, mob types, zones, DE’s or even change to alt character. At least on this account it doesn’t.
I just left it alone.
I hope they do find the cause of the DR effecting dragons/events/chests and maybe just maybe it will cure the lousy DR beast clinging to my back. <— and everyone elses too. Maybe that is the entire cause of our ‘perceived’ loot issues after all. One can hope.

This says it all right here. This is the answer they’ve been avoiding all this time. Is there a bug? This is a big loud NO!! You are “extremely unlucky” and should be grinding for tokens while most of the rest of the player base get relatively normal drops, or are at least not complaining about it. :/

This is a load of crap and in hundreds of hours of play “extremely unlucky” should average out. Some accounts seem to be plain cursed and goes beyond sheer luck.

I’m sure this bug will eventually be identified, but may never fully be acknowledged, but I guarantee, this will happen long after I’m gone.

I’m sick of the lies and double-talk and according to this thread they now plan to nerf AOE (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Is-AoE-actually-a-problem-Discussion-Thread). This will be devastating to my condition damage necro build. This game just keeps getting worse and worse. Drops, as they are, it’s just too much effort to create an alt. I actually have enough gold to float myself through another alt or two, but, really, where’s the fun in buying yourself a character. It defeats the purpose of an RPG in my opinion. I’ve gotten my money’s worth out of this and even with 150G in the bank, would not feel bad walking away. I don’t even have the ambition left to finish my personal story or even look at the new content. All I’m working on now is map completion in the WvW areas and vainly participating in this thread in the hope that I’m wrong about ANet.

What I don’t understand is that being “extremely unlucky” seems to be account based. In all games, I have had bad RNG streaks, lucky and unlucky characters at times, but I have never seen it apply to each and every character I had so uniformly as here.

My personal foil hat theory is we are dealing with an account based “bad” seed number for the RNG calculations that for some reason isn’t random. Shrug. GW1, if I recall right, used a microclock stamp at zone in for seed.

If the RNG seed is not random, the RNG isn’t, for some types.

I invite any dev to look at my account and see the difference in loot drops in fractals since the update.

Before I got anything from 2-10 rares per run, very rarely an exotic and sometimes essence or cores. I hardly ever got any blues or whites…

Now after update I always get a crap ton of whites and blues, almost no rares on most runs, no exotics, no cores, hardly anything except the occasional green, even from chests….

Something is not right…

Something has been changed. This has gone on for days now…same thing…no change from crap crap loot, I have never had this before the patch EVER.

Also had a huge drop in ecto’s from salvaging rares, most of the time now, zero ecto’s….ever since patch.

Can you check some patches before mid november patch, please? I still think it could be some days before karka patch.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Game_updates/November_2012 – wiki has three entries regarding possible problems.

Update – 14 November 2012
“Fixed diminishing return for dungeon rewards in explorable mode on all servers. "

Update – 05 November 2012
“Corrected drop rate for Unidentified Dye. "

And an interesting note: "On November 1, we introduced a change that unintentionally increased the drop rate of Unidentified Dye. Today’s game update corrects the drop rate for Unidentified Dye. "

I think, these changes deserve some time too.

I’ve been saying this for a while, but I kept getting called a lier.

I got my first rare in days today, from a dragon chest of all places. I did manage to salvage an ecto from it.

To give you an idea of my “bad luck” I haven’t used ectos in about 2 months, instead saving them up every time I get one from salvaging a rare. In 2 months, I have managed to get 17 ecto’s from salvaging rares, 2 months, 17 ectos, rounding thats roughly 1 ecto every 3 and a half days. At this rate to get enough ectos for full set of exotic armour, jewels, and just 1 weapon will take me another 150 days (if my luck holds out).

Rare drops are extremely rare, and ecto salvage using BLSK is also rare.

Its plenty of info when it comes to yellow drops, I get so little that its taken me 2 months to get 17 ectos just from yellow drops. But for science sake if you buy up all the ori on the market up to say 3s51c, I will have enough gold to buy the masks and salvage kits to try this out.

forge….
not getting an exotic over the last 2 weeks seems strange :|

i mean i at least try 2 times per day putting 4 rares (lvl 80 from fotm).
3 weeks before i had something like 50% and now 0% for 2 weeks ._.

Same happens with ectos i get a lot for days then i got none for days.

I suspect rng doesn t work as it shuould….it should seem random, instead it seems it just locks on hugely positive results opposed to long streaks of bad results….

And it seems to be the problem of most players..

How often i see players getting 3 exotics + fotm skin and 6 Yellow in a run and Others getting only a Yellow or none at all :|

Its months i play this game and i almost never see anything resembling a “normal distribution” (in a mathematic means sry for english its not my 1st lang.)

GW2 balance:
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.

Use trading post to buy mats. Since t5 mats, 80 lvl yellows and ecto are tied to each other – buying, crafting and salvaging it with good salvage kit (Master’s Salvage Kit) should not lead to money loss.

You think 100 items is too much, right? When i worked for my legendary gifts i crafted much more items. Just one stage – http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/4964/ectossource.jpg

Please do your own tests before report. “17 ectos from unknown amount of items salvaged with unknown salvage kits” – not enough info to make conclusions, not even close.

Try and post here how many items salvaged, salvage kit used (i recommend Master’s Salvage Kit), ectos received.

to poster above, why did you quote me? Your game, your gold, your experiences in no way reflect the game I play. I started post Nov 15 patch. I can’t farm mats, I can’t earn gold, and given my drop rate, the kind of expenditure you are talking about is not in my realm. I don’t buy gems. The most gold I’ve ever held was 6g. Not 50g plus to blow on making items to break, and you apparently blew a lot more than that.

I stated. 12 80 rares, ALL I have looted in my entire game. Black Lion Kit. 3 ectos. I would test more, but Anet will not allow me to loot rares, earn gold to buy rares, or farm mats to craft rares. Ill get back to you in 2 months, perhaps by then I will have 10-12 rares to salvage. Where you got “17 ecto blah blah blah using unknown kits”.. I don’t know. I own 3 ecto.

Enjoy YOUR gaming experience and realize you are one of the lucky ones.

“Quote. ezd.6359:

Still not enough info. Try to craft 100 yellow items of 80 lvl (light armor masks for example) and salvage them with most expensive kit from vendor. I receive ~90 ectos from same amount items salvaged."

Lets talk math. Today, average price of t5 craft fine is a bit over 2s 50c. That is 38 gold, just on fines, to create 100 items to net you your claimed 90 ecto. Ecto is priced at 38s each on TP today. You would lose money. If you include silk, threads, and cost of master salvage kits, you would lose a pretty good pile of money.

I don’t make enough gold to lose money. The sorry drop rate won’t allow me to.

Ley lines. The perfect solution to deadlines and writers block. Now in an easy open Can.

Please do your own tests before report. “17 ectos from unknown amount of items salvaged with unknown salvage kits” – not enough info to make conclusions, not even close.

This is obviously a dig at me so I’ll respond.

I was stating that the amount of yellow drops I have had in the last 2 months was only enough to get me 17 ectos when salvaged with the BLSK. Yes I also mentioned I have bad luck with the BLSK’s too, but the point was not salvaging, the point was I have had so few yellow drops in the last 2 months that I have only managed to salvage 17 ectos. Then I pointed out further that at the current rate it will take me another 150 days to get all the ectos (from dropped yellows) to have enough ectos to make full set of exotic armour/jewels/1 weapon.

I was not giving numbers to highlight bad salvaging (even though it occurs), I was giving numbers to highlight bad drops.

It is very clear there must be an issue here.
Every day I do my daily in orr and before the november patch I ran after the daily to the MF to toss my rares in hoping for something better to pop out, I was able back then to toss in 4-12+- rares each day!
Now I run to the MF every month to put 4 rares in. And that’s when I get lucky!:D

IMHO, I think they need a weighted RNG, where every crap drop increases your starting seed so that you will eventually be almost guaranteed to get a good drop. It could then reset. You would always get a chance at a decent drop, but not relegated to RNG hell forever if you didn’t.

You have much more patience and tolerance of this bullkitten than I, sir. I salvaged 2 exotics (guaranteed karka event box drops, salvaged with the mystic kit) and got two pieces of silk. Not gossamer, no ectos…. silk. Turned off GW2 for the night and took the Nestea plunge into some beer.

Sounds like exactly what happens to me every single time.

So I logged in the other night both in a mid level area and Orr and I killed quite a number of veterans for my daily guess what I got. Nothing. Not a single veteran dropped anything. No one was around to help me, not a single person tagged these mobs to get credit too, nothing. Killed 2 champions too (tho that time i had help). 1 dropped a grey. Yep that code sure is working as intended huh. Haven’t seen a single drop from a vet or champion that’s worth anything since that code was implemented and the patch notes were published.

I am like one of the posters about.

I too would like to know when they plan on learning from MMO history and finally at long last remove DR forever? Is it that they don’t want to? Is it working too well for their profits? It’s not a conspiracy theory when it’s simply a good business practice (good only for profits that is not for the players). And I don’t mind a company needing profits to survive, they didn’t make this game to be played for nothing I know but let’s get real, history shows us many many times that DR only kills games, and there are plenty of better systems of loot to be used that kills bots and that doesn’t involve limitations. Our TP economy was so much better off when the prices were low now no one can get anything without buying gems for gold or spending 10 hours a day farming. (Heck I’m disabled and even I don’t have that kind of time on my hands!)

No reply from a Dev on here for months confirming whether or not we’re right or wrong in suspecting there’s an issue with loot.

Just last week they adjusted drop rates in Orr the day after a patch.

Clearly there’s an agenda here and this thread is just to shut people up because they can obviously look and see when drop rates are favorable to them or not.

I read something like this and wonder if I am playing GW2 in some alternate reality. I can’t visualize having enough fines to ever craft 100 rare 80 items. 1500? at the current prices of that level? with this drop rate? Posts like this floor me. Your game is not what I am experiencing.

My experience? 12 level 80 rare loots since my char got to that level in early December. Easy to count, as I saved them to salvage. Black Lion Kit. 3 ectos.

The RNG hates me so much, that putting 4 Level 50 rare crafted chests into the Mystic Toilet gained me.. nothing? Everyone tells me “nothing” is impossible, yet, that is what I got.

Try and post here how many items salvaged, salvage kit used (i recommend Master’s Salvage Kit), ectos received.

ezd: I know that you have been watching this thread for a while so you should know that he and others have been trying to give detailed information for months. If posters have become exhausted at giving specific, time-consuming details; then I understand that.

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate you for your materials cache. I am very glad that you are not (at least as) affected by these issues as many others. From your screenshot I can see that you can immediately craft at least:

  • 8 Rare Apothecary’s
  • 77 Rare Explorers
  • 85 Rare Knights
  • 6 Rare Rampagers
  • 67 Rare Valkyries

Not to mention all the materials you have for Embroidereds. You have 1278 Large Scales and 700 Bolts of Silk.

You have done pretty well and I sincerely wish that you do not get caught up in these issues others have.

Many of us do not have the resources to go to the TP and buy up yellows to salvage much less the resources to buy high end salvage kits.

Adding: And we don’t have the ability to craft ectos that you and most of the others in the player base have. This, really, is the whole point of this thread. We just want to have a fair shake at getting to the level you have achieved.

Oh, to remember that in GW1 one could go out and just gather ecto drops through farming. In GW2 you can’t do that – we are limited to hoping to get something to salvage one (maybe) and hopefully we will have enough gold beyond that one rare drop to buy the salvage kit to actually try to squeeze an ecto out of it.

I just dont think salvaging is affected by any modificators like magic find or DR. Just no reason for it, you (or another player) already won rng game when looted those items. No need to penalty you twice.

When we talk about drop rates we all know we can’t go back and play pre-november game and we can’t prove our words. Only devs can retreive it from code repository and test.

In same time ecto “DR”(?) is much easier to prove(ok, 35 gold to craft 100 items may be too expensive to many people). But nobody proved it. I think if this problem is exists, we can find at least one man who can find 35 gold to test it. May be i missed it, can you provide me with link?

I understand your point ezd and in normal circumstances that is completely reasonable. The problem is that proving the ecto nerf after the snowflake incident (which has probably already been done in another thread) doesn’t really feel worth it.

I, personally, and possibly many others don’t really see the evidence that ANet will care.

Not only that; but I would not craft one rare for the purpose of salvaging if my life depended on it. I am too scared to be banned for “exploiting”. This sounds extreme and it probably is but there is no proof that it wouldn’t happen.

Edit: Well, that’s not true: My GW2 account isn’t more important than my life but you understand my point.

So I purchased one of those new “Lost Orrian Jewel Box”

Got 5 “Unidentifiable Objects”, Tropy, 2.5 silver each

Not even remotely close to being worth 4,550 Karma

Yet more RNG bullkitten with bullkitten drop rates, won’t be wasting karma on those again.

I suppose putting this here is a waste of kittening time too, since Anet is to much of a kittening coward to respond to this thread.

There should be a minimum return on these things, but looking over other what other people have gotten, the new box is the continuation of the mystic toilet.

In the last couple days, I completed all 4 WvW jumping puzzles, nothing better than a green. Creature drops…chest drops…crap. Killed over 60 invaders (8-10 executions) in WvW last night…nothing better than a blue and I think I only has 3 or 4 gear items drop, some trash and 5 badges…I wish I could sell the badges. :/ In any case, this completes jumping puzzles for me. They’re lots of fun, but with rewards like this…not really much point in going back. The rewards, typically, won’t even cover the cost of the waypoint fees to get there. If I were working toward a legendary, perhaps, since you get 5 badges of honor for each borderland puzzle and 10 for Obsidian. But…I’ve already explained how outrageously out of reach legendaries are for one affected by this issue.

—Aside—
Jumping puzzles are one of most unique and fun parts of this game IMO and I would suggest anyone not doing them, try them out. You also get an achievement and 10 achievement point per puzzle and at 44 puzzles (46 with Halloween and Christmas puzzles), that adds up.

I was pleasantly surprised how in the WvW puzzles, even in enemy borderlands and the shared Obsidian Sanctum puzzle (Which is one of the better puzzles in the game), there’s kind of a no attack thing going on. Of all the “invaders” I saw, only one attacked me, a big brute of a hammer-wielding char guardian, and the silly fool did so in the dark area, I dropped my torches as he had none and he was easily avoidable using mark reflection to navigate…probably still waiting for me. He might be tough, but the bugger is lucky I was pressed for time and decided to avoid him otherwise I’d have hit him with fear to make him walk off the edge.

Why would this be considered an exploit? I’ve salvaged tons of stuff I’ve crafted. On the road to level 400 crafting, you make way more than you can ever use and not all of it is easily saleable, so the logical thing is to salvage them. I’ve salvaged exotics that I’ve made without any issue.

Yeah if the rewards were worth it, I might try to get over my JP fears and un-coordination. I pretty much just can’t get through a JP without getting all bent out of shape b/c of my lack of coordination. When I am with a guildie doing completion, I just wait for them at the bottom of JPs and Vistas lol.

The only way I can do the Asura Fractal (don’t remember the name) is after the rest of the party boop, boop, bip, bip their way to the top they are patient enough to allow me to sweaty jump, carefully step to the edge closest to the next platform, sweaty jump, repeat till I make it to the top. It’s strange too – I have no problem with platformer games (I was the Mario champ) but I just can’t get the hang of JPs in this game.

I’m really gratified to hear that the trolling in WvW JPs is calming down. For a while, people just seemed to want to ruin it for everyone. But now it seems players are getting the point that letting others complete them makes it possible for them to complete them also.

You should have feared the “silly bugger” –!

Well I said it was extreme – I just worry about stuff like that. After all – who knows what would happen if a GM is having a bad day? I crafted a rare snowflake just to see what it would turn out to be with the intention of salvaging it after and then heard about the bannings and now I still have that rare taking up space in my bank because it’s not worth selling.

@Apropos of Fire – I am afraid of heights and this game makes me sweat bullets when I do the jumping puzzles. My ranger is a rather large female norn and half the time I can’t even see where I’m supposed to go next. I scoot to edges too.

For anyone that missed Navi’s post above or didn’t click the link here’s the dev’s responses to Dragon Chests failing to appear, as in not invisible, but not spawning for a large amount of people while appearing for others. On top of that some people were not getting the experience or karma reward or it was extremely reduced suggesting they had hit DR.

Jason King:
“Did any of you do another event prior to fighting dragon? It’s possible you’re hitting the DR if you completed another event beforehand.”
Jason King:
“Thanks for the details, everyone! We’ll be looking into this issue and examining how dragon chests are affected by DR.”

You see some of these people logged out for 8,10,12+ hours before returning but are still being hit by the DR. They also travel to completely different maps only to have the same DR follow. (Sound Familiar?) I wonder if a big bug like this will finally out the length of time DR truly should last and if it will draw attention to the “real” problem where as this sticky thread never could.

(Large Charr character here… it helps to focus the camera straight down onto the crown of your head. I really think it might be the camera – some jumps require you unlock the camera entirely because of walls and trees. So a thought occurs. I’ve been sitting back watching what’s going on in this game and is it me or are they just dancing around the issue here? I mean seriously if we’re having THIS much trouble from regular functions (just discovered yet another NEW engineer bug to add to the list and now the background and anything beyond a certain view is causing everything to disappear) then why would they think that DR is functioning properly and why wouldn’t they at this point completely remove it since it is indeed starting to effect every type of player not just us lowly horrible farmer types.

This is what I’ve observed:

  1. DR has become so bad that FoTM and Dragon Event chests simply disappear instead of appearing and offering loot if your toon has DR on it.
  2. Instead of fulfilling what they promised we’d get from veterans they added and extra loot chest to Veterans/Champions (when it does drop) one can barely see especially if you kill something gigantic that still only drops masterwork items or below. Imagine a motley crew standing out in the desert staring at the ground searching as if we’d all lost our collective contact lenses at the same time.
  3. DR makes it almost impossible to gather T6 mats of a specific kind. So we have to deal with a double RNG system (like Powerful blood) (where it’s RNG just to get the bags to drop and RNG to open the bag and see the random contents it spews out never the same type of thing twice and never gossamer.) So what do they do? They add yet another RNG bag to the new currency vendor!
  4. DR requires us to bounce between zones and not stay in once place for too long but to do that it’s extremely costly and makes us pay the price for gold farmers (not legit farmer players mind you) being in the game and even that doesn’t turn DR off.

I just don’t get it, at this point wouldn’t it be less costly and less time consuming to not try to seek out the new bugs with this DR system and just remove the DR code entirely and move on?

BTW Killed nearly 100 karka and got trash again. 24 greys 2 whites 1 green 6 shells 1 T5 and 2 powerful bloods (I know my jaw dropped when I saw the bloods drop, I never get T6 materials.)

I have noticed my Warrior is no longer cursed with bad luck since the last patch but im not sure how long that will last for.

..spoke too soon and no it didnt last long at all.

For Colin and those posters who like to post how good their drops are I would just like to add I have at this moment 1,289 hours played and I have a total of 4 cores(varied) and 5 Lodestones with 195 badges from WvW.
I have tried to farm the corrupted lodestones to make a Corrupted weapon as I liked the style and thought it would give me something to work towards but after hitting stuff with full MF+Food buffs+booster and not getting anything some days just maybe a blue or two, Trying some days without MF and getting the same results im bored with it.
I stay for an hour tops, I go every other day or so never day after day, I play all over the place doing varied things PVE, WvW events and have fun playing but it seems that I will never be able to actually farm the materials to make my weapon that I started in November.
I dont feel rewarded for playing in fact I feel punished for playing the game how I want to as I dont do Fractals or dungeons and prefer to play in the open world or WvW.

I have noticed I have started to play less lately and have had to change guild as I was effectively in a one man guild of 36 active MMO playing friends who are all " Taking a break" until things improve.

A run of “bad luck” is one thing but even with the lotto I win a prize now and again.

If we solely go by wiki, DR can kick in for numerous things, so I am going to assume its quite possible to have DR trigger for one thing but not another.

Now lets assume that we are getting hit with DR for loot drops (which wiki says DR does kick in for), it would be then quite possible to get normal event rewards (because of no event DR) but still be hit with loot DR.

Now while event DR kicks in on specific events and you can go to a different event and not be effected, and while dungeon DR can be avoided by doing a different dungeon/path, one would assume that loot DR could be avoided by going to a different area. But this is not the experience many of us face.

Once hit with loot DR it seems to stick no matter where you are, and once more, there is no obvious indications that loot DR has kicked in other than less loot and poorer quality loot. There needs to be a “debuf” that displays when loot DR kicks in, so just like events and dungeons where we can see from the rewards whether DR has kicked in and therefore need to move, we can see when loot DR kicks in and will know to move on.

How about one of you guys with ‘permanent DR’ record 30-60 minutes of you farming pent/shelter/Jofast, link video on here and let’s see your loot, make you loot auto or inventor bag after. I suggest that location because I often see many rares drops there. This is the only proof I can think of that might actually drawn more attention to your issues. Again, don’t flame me, my loot is very good and I am just trying to help you enjoy the game more.
