[Suggestions] Quality of Life Changes
Allow at least one more step at closest zoom for close-up selfies/selcas.
- Underwear colour for human plx
(edited by wolfie.7296)
Allow self-selection so players can see what the name/target board looks like with the guild name under the face portrait.
Option to restore Sylvari female pain sound to original version that is the creator’s vision of the female Sylvari..

Suggestion: give boosters the ability to be turned on and off
Boosters would see more use of they had an on/off feature or if they had a way to use only part of time that the booster has. One reason people don’t use boosters is because the time is wasted if you stop doing the content that the booster is for and start doing something else. So two possibilities.
1) an on/off ability. Click to turn on and click again to turn off
2) a stacking timer capability. That is, click to turn on for X minutes and continue clicking to add additional X minutes, up to the full amount of the timer.
ANet may give it to you.
Squad grid border coloration for commander?
As I travel in squads there are some times when you need to find the squad commander in the grid layout so you can “Join in map” or “whisper” or something. and in a grid of many players the commander is hard to find. So, some commanders burn a, what do you call it, sub-squad? Anyway, a sub grid, for just themselves so they are easy to click on. They need to lock this subsquad so no one else joins it. Also wastes their time. This is wasteful of grid space obviously. So I suggest that the commanders “mark” color should be a 1 pixel border around their square in the grid. This would make them easy to find without taking up any more space in the UI and not require burning a sub-squad just to call out the commander. This also has the advantage that it’s obvious with no documentation. When you are following a commander with an Orange hat [mark, whatever you call it] and you see an Orange marked grid square, then it’s obvious that’s the commander.
Is there something I missed?
thanks,
ww
What I would like to see is the ability to set a custom folder where screenshots are saved. Currently screenshots are saved automatically on my desktop, which means that I have to manually move and rename every single screenshot I take, quite an annoying task.

I like this suggestion but until it is implemented, if it ever is, here’s how I do it and it really isn’t much of an imposition:
I keep a Games folder and in it among other things I have folders for screens from various games. Then in GW2Screens I have folders that are date labeled. Eg 2013Oct, HoTBWE1, etc. Every now and then … could be each month, could be 3 months, just so long as it’s before I fill up the default folder … I go to the default screens folder in Users, sort by date, and select everything from a particular month. Cut, Paste in the relevant folder in Games, done. That preserves the raw screens in date order in small sets of images, no need to rename since duplicate shot numbers won’t matter given the date sorting. Then if I have particular shots I want to process or just sort into character-or-event-specific folders, I can do so while still keeping the raw images in their full size.
Just throwing one into the mix:
Mentors get “Mentor” in front of their name in chat. Can Commanders get “Cmdr” or “Comm”. Sometimes its too easy to think the dude talking like an idiot is a plebe instead of a guy trying to organize PUGS who are following his tag but not in his squad.

WE NEED a permanent upgrade extractor to be made and sold pls! Everyone would buy this and anet would make major bank!
For the next expansion, I’d like to see players own a house inside their home instance.
We could buy it empty and start crafting the decorations and furniture we want our house to have. This will need a new working bench and/or a Master crafter, inside or outside of the home instance, to accommodate our newly aquired crafting profession and provide us with new recipes, like crafting a bed, a painting, external lamps, etc.
The property contracts could be either given upon purchase of the expansion pack, or sold through the gem store.
Other players could visit our house when we are in a party, much like home instance works right now.
Suggestion: randomize option on minis. Similar to the random button on finishers. May trigger upon changing a map.
Additional points of awesomeness for having the option to select between which minipets to rotate. Actually, that one might be great on finishers too.
Not sure if this suggestion may have appeared before but…
Allow Guesting for guild halls. Make a system like a guild invite (with similar privilege settings) where you can invite players to access your guild hall who aren’t in your guild.
- Show off your guild hall!
- Invite players from other guilds for scrimmage in the arena
- Hold a concert or other event in your guild hall and invite players or even charge admission with invites.
Possibilities are endless .

This is already in the game. Anyone in your party or squad can enter your guild hall if you load into it first. All they have to do is walk in from the in-zone portal and select your guild tag from the drop down list.
Hello,
I don’t think this has been posted so forgive me if it has. I think with the direction the story is going with the dragons that eventually we will end up having to kill Bubbles the water dragon. Fighting bubbles will most likely require underwater combat which I feel most people do not enjoy because it is not as refined as land combat at this time.
I think if an option were added so that the camera would follow your target underwater it would make underwater combat in all situations far easier to handle. You can easily lose an enemy underwater with how the camera currently works. A slider for follow/rotation speed may also be nice to have implemented with this underwater camera mode. This would allow players to have the camera rapidly follow/rotate to the enemy or have a more gradual smooth rotation toward the targeted enemy.
Just a minor thing but could we get the Order that each character belongs to added to the character info on the character select screen? I have 11 characters spread out among all 3 orders and if I’m planning on doing something specific to an order I usually wind up forgetting who belongs to what. Then I have to randomly select characters til I hit one that belongs to the right order. Yes, getting old sucks.
I’m not sure I mentioned this but the female Sylvari release pain sound and the frequncey of it’s playback really gave her flavour and should be an option. It’s not even hard to do.
Add an option so low priority interactables can’t be interacted with unless specifically targeted, such as boxes of fun, banners and dead players.
In adventures, disable unrelated interactables to prevent them from blocking progress, such as people dying on top of pickups.
For the UI rewards/chests/hearts above the minimap, add the ability to take all of them (right click > take all), immediately take them (double click) or add them to auto loot.
Character model limit/quality seems to cull enemies and possibly orange AoE circles. I’d rather see all enemies and NPCs over players, so if possible, separate the options.
This one might be asking a lot, but asking is free.
Please add skinable models for all the trinkets (rings, accessories, and amulets). This would be a huge step towards letting us customize our avatars.
Some ascended accessories are labeled earring and are also unique so you cannot have a matching pair unless you can apply the skin to something else.
My sylvari mesmer is a member of the Priory and has items that reflect both of those affiliations, but the stats are not necessarily the ones I would have chosen otherwise.
I’d love to see a book dangling from a chain on my belt for instance for the Sieren’s Field Journal: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Magister's_Field_Journal
Arise my pretty minion!
Since I last posted the dye sets have not been implemented………………………….so you can save groups of colour
Can we get an Icon on our minimap that shows us where and how far away our first portal is placed? I can’t count how many times i’ve used it and it just doesn’t work. Or maybe gray out the icon button if we are out of range? Thanks <3

+1 would be best change that has been asked for since game launch!!
+1!! So much this. Even judging your distance based on nearby POIs can lead to failed portals.
You could just use the red “range finder” underneath the skill icon that most weapon skills use.
From the wiki ( https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Skill_bar ):
“A red bar underneath a skill indicates that the current target is out of range (otherwise, no red bar is displayed).”
Would it be possible to implement this same functionality for mesmer portals?
I’m sure these have all been mentioned before, but my major quality of life gripes stem from scribing and guild hall decorations.
They’re still really costly for one individual, such as myself, who happens to be the sole decorator of not one but two guild halls.
Along with the cost of certain decorations from the amount of crafted hammers, to the amount of smaller items you need for the finishing kits, you can quickly rack up a 4 gold debt just to make a single Ascolonian Tree. (Price of evergreen lodestone included which seems to be a rather rare drop compared to the mordrem lodestones which basically have no use and consequently no value. Perhaps add a Magumma style tree to use the lodestone?)
Another significant thing I think frightens a lot of people away from this aspect of the game and guild halls in general is the complexity of scribing. I go through so many windows inside windows inside windows crafting one decoration I half expect Leonardo DiCaprio to pop out of one sending me a link to Never Gonna Give You Up. Too. Many. Windows.!
Another great thing would be a reduction in the cost of fragments of solid ocean. They’re a great relic sink for someone who does fractals religiously or who has a ton of them saved up from years of running them, but for a single person to acquire enough to make a single SMALL hologram, it becomes a month long process. Is it too much to reduce the cost of the fragments to 15 fractal relics instead of 150? So it evens out at 1 pristine equals 1 fragment? Would make it much more reasonable for someone like myself to be able to make a really great jumping puzzle or bonus area in the guild hall.
Perhaps even tokens that reward you with a specific redeemable decoration from daily fractal chests?
I always look forward to updates because there seems to be at least a couple decorations added here and there, but there isn’t a huge variety of anything other than potted plants which take so much gold to make that they aren’t worth the investment. The decorations that are great are TOO MUCH of an investment whether it be time or resources.
It seems the devs have noticed that there is a good chunk of the playerbase that is interested in decorations whether it be for aesthetics or jumping puzzles and it really gained popularity due to the super adventure box items. But the reason the super adventure box decorations were so successful was not only because they were larger items and had more variety, but also because they were significantly easier to obtain and cheaper to make.
I can understand the whole activity being a guild project, but to expect guild contribution to be included in the effort to obtain the decorations is a bit out of touch with reality. Especially when many of the items you need to craft the decoration are account bound.
Not many people in a guild are going to want to contribute to something they’re disinterested in either.
Guild hall upgrades such as keg requirements are insanely expensive, but are far more reasonable in terms of guild contribution and are thus more easily overlooked.
I agree! This would be extremely useful.

I never noticed that red bar was there until I read that.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
New spell visuals are direly needed. Lightning and fire appear very wispy and weak. There should be environmental effects like smog, cinders, charred grass, glowing lightning that darkens what immediately surrounds it’s blue glow and sparks, a sudden explosion upon impact that quickly vanishes like a spark. That kind of thing. Spell visuals are severely lacking whereas everything else looks beautiful.
Would like for the Personal Merchant Express item to not spawn an NPC rather work like the Personal Bank Access Express does, where it just opens the interface. Since it is only usable for you, no reason to display an npc to others if they can’t use it. And since they take 5 mins to despawn, unless you change maps, they are less useful than the single-use ones could be, as you could use those whenever you want to (and less useful than the bank one, which you can use whenever).
Likewise, if possible, I would like the same to be true for the Personal Trader Express. It may not be, but if it is, same goes for that.
More things to do with essence of luck for those who have reached max MF.
More things to do with Tomes of Knowledge so players can spend/use them when they don’t want to level new alts.
Possibility for players to mark items as junk! Good way to sell items fast.
Dye presets would be nice. Dye a complete character with 1 click.
EDIT: when guild hall is max, let all proprietor’s go sit in tavern to chill xD as soon 1 or more has to work because there are new upgrades available, he/she walks towards his spot till it’s max again.

Made a thread about it ages ago, in case anyone lazy to open the link I’ll quote it:
- Problem: I got an entire tab and half tab full of reward boxes. As someone who plays pvp much I get tons of boxes all the time and my bank almost full now. It’s annoying I’m done using them so I save them for my other toons who are not yet lvl 80.
- Solution: Making them stack is a simple solution that would save many pvpers’ banks.
I had all hopes for this on today’s patch, then while scrolling down through release notes..
Structured Player vs. Player
The chests at the end of reward tracks now stack
OHMYGODTHANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU
Move the zoom in/out scale on the map (M) to the left of the screen, so loot obtained does not get in the way when trying to WP to some place else.
Hi guys, I would like to add my suggestions to the list, those are what could improve the game IMO.
http://i.imgur.com/EAlOJJ7.jpg
At the bottom of my inventory:
The 1st row: I believe need to increase the stack counts to unlimited.
Reason: They are acquired in numerous ways and also for fractal frequent runners, no real use for them on daily basis for me, unless in huge amount in quantities.
The 2nd row: We should be able to deposit them, as well as any upcoming trophies and map consumables.
Reason: There’s no actual use on a daily basis except in large quantity for specific crafting or trading. Trophy section in material storage would be awesome.
The 3rd row: They should be converted into the wallet tab instead of clogging up in inventory.
Reason: They are map currencies much like geodes, gold etc so there’s no need in storing or clicking on them from inventory or bank.
That’s all I could think of for now, thanks for considering!

Another QoL improvement is remove auto zoom out and in when engaging a particular boss, especially please dont zoom in to almost on the ground when the boss is dead and have to manually adjust every time. Customize and set the FOV will be helpful as well.
(edited by nanomidgy.9180)
Move DAILY FRACTALS from the Fractal of the Mists category into the DAILY category.
Separate the Daily PvE, PvP and WvW dailies into their own sub categories (if possible) and have them continue to function as they are.
Thank you Anet
Still really hoping for these…
Creation of some sort of KEY BANK for storage of all the various keys used in the game to save storage and make it easier to access on each character without moving them continually.
The ability to revert/reset transmutation on items.
Unless something has changed, items that have been transmuted to look like other items are not accepted in the mystic forge for things like infusing/upgrading.
Adding this ability feels like a necessary ability since people have and may still transmute items and have the above issue.
Here’s two more.
Wintersday award: Gift – allow the one-time mailing of one account bound item from one account to another. I have two copper fed salvage o matics and I sure would like to send one of them to my other account
Jeweler recipe: Transmogrify azurite.
We’re getting bogged down by all the extra stuff we have to carry essentially since Drytop and Silverwastes were released.
Material Storage/Wallet Improvements
- Why does course sand have a material slot, but not silky sand? Other refineable items have material slots. Why do we still not have a spot for blade shards in material management?
- Like Mystic coins, other mystic forge and rare ascended and legendary items like Mystic Crystals, mystic forge stones, vision crystals, lesser vision crystals, amalgamated gemstones, philosopher stones, thermocatalytic reagents, etc. should be in material management
- Like geodes, bandit crests, Airship parts, etc, Winterberries, Petrified Wood and blood rubies are currencies and belong in the wallet, not taking up space in the inventory. Well, winterberries are a currency and crafting material, so perhaps they should be in material management. The other two are just currencies and do belong in the wallet.
- Since even before HoT was released, it seems every new map now has it’s own unique key to open stuff…shovels, bandit keys, crowbars, chak acid, exalted keys, Aether Keys, etc. The only keys I remember from the original game were Dwarven Keys and BL keys. How about the idea of a “key-ring” to get these things out of the inventory. Say a little button down by the wallet.
- Now, there are the essentially useless, but necessary, collectibles in the new map such as chicken feathers, shiny bits of ice, frostbitten suet, etc. These go beyond the regular renown event type of trophy collectible because they’re needed to craft very specific things, that are required for map completion and continued access to certain parts of the map. In that vein they are crafting materials and belong in material management.
None of this stuff breaks the game but would be huge QoL improvement, not to mention, it would be much more organized.

Another one that would be awesome, and it has been suggested before, years ago and I assume since, is the ability to have armor/weapon/trinket presets. Many people change their gear depending on what they’re doing, WvW, solo roaming, dungeons, raids, etc. I know I have a different set of gear I use in WvW than in PvE. Would be nice to have a separate gear tab for quickly switching between each setup so that, what, potentially up to16 slots aren’t used up in the inventory/bank. Ideally this would flow through right to the build and slot skills. So everything could be switched quickly. I think more people would play with builds and buy more specialized gear sets if they could easily switch them like this.
Hello,
Was thinking about some quality of life changes that I think both WvW and PvE players can agree on. Concerning extra ascended trinkets, amulets and infusions. Right now my bank is full of healing infusions, vital infusions, and random +4 toughness infusions that aren’t being used. A suggestion would be to allow players to turn them back in the vendor for credit or to exchange. For PvE this would use laurels or some other currency and WvW badges of honor. Furthermore, being able to return ascended items bought from a vendor for credit or to exchange. Working the same was as the credit or exchange would be for infusions. Banks which are cluttered with undesirable infusions and ascended are no fun. Please take this in to consideration and up vote this post!
Hello,
Please bring native controller support to this game. Some people are tired are using programs like XPadder to play with a controller from their couch. Think of all the people who want to use virtual reality and play with a controller! It’s a no-brainer please add native controller support to GW2.
small list again from me:
laurel vendor, remove recipes for rune of the (elite specialization) they’re redundant now as they’re automatically learned once the spec has been learned, we dont need them there anymore, also add the following ascended items in : Mordrem Loop, Sun Moon and Stars, Janthir’s Gaze, Abbadon’s Cowl. mainly for me its the mordrem loop as ive already done the acheivement, ive got the item, but i also have more than one character and i dont raid so much, this would be a big QoL improvement from me =]
can we get an acheiment made for dyes? id like to be able to track how many more i have left to get in-game
can we get an acheiment made for dyes? id like to be able to track how many more i have left to get in-game
You can! Open your Hero Panel, go to Dyes. Use the little cog (or toggle or whatever it is) at the top of the dye selections to have it show locked dyes. Sort by set. Scroll to the bottom. All your locked dyes will be there, grouped by source set. You can even right click on a locked dye to bring it up on the TP for quick buying.
Any-time access to things like Super Adventure Box. Things with collections and achievements tied to them that aren’t tied also to a particular holiday or celebration.
Having to wait for some random time in April to access game content is somewhat irksome and I don’t understand why the restriction.
Thanks!
Way to convert aura trinket jewels to infusions, so I’m not stuck with one gold trinket just to have a Ghastly Glow.
And a way to convert Endless costume tonics to Endless Combat tonics.
Cause… Hellfire Skeleton in Combat = Awesomeness.
Player housing that’s an actual HOUSE. One that you can own and decorate, maybe out in a map or something so others can see it or make it an instance like the home instance. I’d love to do some interior design in my game!

“The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting.” – Sun Tzu, The Art of War
Would be nice if we could give our bank tabs name like we can in guild banks.
for example:
bank tab 1: collections
bank tab 2: legends
bank tab 3: tonics
bank tab 4: jewels/rings/…
etc….
this would a VERY nice improvement!
A Portal Book – if LW3 is going to have a new map for each chapter; it would be nice if we could ‘bind’ portal scrolls together to make a book of some sort instead of carrying separate scrolls around or having to hot-swap them if we decide to change our map focus. Could also be extended to City Scrolls as well.
not sure if this has been requested yet but i would like to see scroll portal functionality from the bank to work, so i dont need to remove the item from my bank slot so alt’s can use it without picking it up
