What GW1 feature would you bring to GW2
LFG
Frankly I’m surprised no one has said this yet. Yes, there’s a website, but nothing beats an in-game “looking for group” tab so there’s no minimizing.
I posted that two posts above you….
Oh hey. so it would seem. hidden in the list of things. I apologize. You said it first. Let me reword my statement.
Frankly I’m surprised there are not more people asking for this here.
That’s because we have asked, begged, yelled, screamed, stamped until we are blue in the face, and still don’t have a basic feature that comes with even F2P games.
In conclusion, we have given up on a LFG tool because it’s never coming, like a lot of other things we have been waiting forever for.
Actually, they’ve officially stated that an in-game LFG tool will be ready before the end of 2013.
Yep. In fact, I remember seeing something on Reddit that the data-miners had found the basis for the LFG tool in the dat file after one of the recent patches. I’m just too lazy to try to find it again. :P

Hallelujah. All they have to do now is balance the classes in PvE and we can do dungeons again!
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
The ability to simply click on an area and have your character run over there (as well as keeping the current modes of movement control, of course).

No need to get “snappy”, The way you set your tone; the statement was presented towards the players. I’m sure it wasn’t attended.
i want from gw1 :
- Free skill revamp and load/save feature (template/stuff)
- Guild Hall & GvG
- Elite skill capture
- Hard mode (GW2 is too easy, need epic)
- Free Teleport
I want GW2 :
- More interest to dungeons
- true rez skill & taunt skill
- do not remove contents (adventure box, dungeons…)
- more teamplay
- role tag system in party (like dc universe)
Dhuum
Fissure of Woe 2.0

I want farming back. Our options in GW2 are too limited. Right now it’s Barracudas or CoF.

Barracudas sarcasm or is there really something to farm? haha

I’m curious now too, is there a place to farm for real gains? Because I’d rather just not play than do CoF over and over.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
You make 5-12g an hour with Barracudas in Southsun depending on how lucky you are. However, I’m scared if I share other farms, ANET will nerf it too. That’s not a reputation they should take pride in.
Ray of Judgement returned to its correct awesomeness.
If no one has noticed. Its currently in the “tome of courage” for a guardian and is like a tiny baby little squirt of light that bounces around.

I would like to have GW1 combat system back. GW2’s combat system is about my only complaint I have with the game because it get boring very quickly.
How bout actual guild wars?
How bout actual guild wars?
I would love to see GvG to return
I would bring the Necromancer from gw1 to gw2…. For those who say the necromancer is here I want you to take a hard look at the 2 they play so different it’s sad…
On guild wars 1 I could make fights last forever with debilitating conditions and life stealing or I could be a minion master with many types of minions that actually tanked/damaged and I could keep them alive… I could play a hex build that caused the targets to take additional damage and explode after a few seconds.. I could even do a direct damage build like a ele that focused on hitting the target with hard hitting spells that had conditions tacked on them… The necromancer in 2 is supposed to be the same but does none of that.
I get that they wont bring hexs back but I miss them dearly… I would settle for barbs and good life stealing being back on necromancer and plague sending….. I mean plague sending would be amazing for what necros are all about why do we not have it… Drop our kitten plague elite and give us that instead make it break stuns and transfer all conditions from you to target + all targets in 240 range on a 90 second cd and has a 600 range..
Elite armor that looks amazing and is class based instead of light/med/heavy based.
HORIZONTAL PROGRESSION!
Elite dungeons plz?
None of this 1 time only bs bring it to the game and leave it in game do yearly events like gw1 had if anything.
The ui.. I loved how the call targets / conditions / health and even armor sets worked + the ability to move every ui frame around was amazing how much you could customize it.
Obby armor… nuff said there.
Unique dances based on class / race / sex
Heros not henchies they were kinda boring
Lore
Armors that are class based so a ranger, thief and engie don’t look exactly the same
Underworld…… Part of elite dungeons but yea still I miss it.
GVG!
And again for the record
HORIZONTAL PROGRESSION!
Not read all the replies in here so I imagine I’m repeating a fair bit but:
1. Guild Halls. So much they could do with this to hire.
2. Instanced based replayable storymode missions.
3. Hard Mode/Vanquishing – this could easily implemented by having someone to talk to in each area which puts you and anyone who wishes to join you in your party into an instance of the map
4. More customisable builds
5. UW/FoW/DoA
simple
Valewalker, and add spears Guardians can throw so that we can have Paragons. Luxon and Kurzick contested zones. Birthday Gifts (which they probably will have, lets hope anyways. Hall of Monuments to display our achievements, this would be better if it was our housing.

1. Super agree!
2. Don’t we have that now with dungeons being the story of Destiny’s Edge, and then our Personal story? Also Fractals tells stories from long ago.
Things that were in GW1 that I want in GW2 that could actually happen at some point:
- Guild Halls
- Return of Cantha (I mean really, I LOVED Cantha! …after we got out of Kaineng)
- Kurzick/Luxon
- Elite Areas (Underworld, Fissure of Woe, Domain of Anguish)
- Build Templates
- Emotionally meaningful story content (I laughed when Durmand Priory Sylvari died)
Things that I’d like to see that aren’t plausible given the game we’ve been given.
- Story driven game progression
- Seriousness (I hate the forced cuteness. Hate it.)
- Hard Mode
- Hitting level cap before you were 1/4 through a campaign. This really did make the whole game endgame.
And much more, but since I’m sure this post will be breezed over, I won’t spend too much time on it.
Alliances and ditch the multi Guild thing.
More skills and good skills at that. As it is now I always feel like I’m picking the best of a bad bunch with skills in this game. None made me go into “I must have that on my bar!” mode like many GW skills did.

I don’t know if it was a feature in GW1 but…
I wish we could dye our weapons. So many times I preview a weapon and love the style but the color just does not “go” with the overall look of my characters. With all the dye options we have, we can pretty much create very unique armor looks, yet the weapons limit our final appearance.
Everything with the exception of ursan because that is what GW2 is…one big ursan zerg.
intel 335 180gb/intel 320 160gb WD 3TB Gigabyte GTX G1 970 XFX XXX750W HAF 932
The trinity.
I would settle for actual teamplay.
Due to a disability i have the one thing i would want to have from GW1 is the targeting system where you pressed CTRL+C then spacebar to attack. When targeting in GW2 i find character loses the target and you have to set it again. And one other thing would be when loot is dropped for us why have a stupid sparkly thing which in the heat of battle you cant see , why not the name of the loot as in GW1. Simple’s…
Am I the only one that realize that a good chunk of the features people are listing are based on guild wars 1 after nightfall? Where the game was significantly different that at release?
LIke the suggestion easy to aquire BiS, which is easier in vanilla gw2 than it was in prophocies by a long short?
I also love the PvE skill balance suggestion considering the game (gw1) had absolutely none and was gimmicky or full of gimmicky builds. I mean any game that you can let the NPC heroes play the game for you w/o any input certainly isn’t a game.
some of the other suggestion are nice though.
This is an mmo forum, if someone isn’t whining chances are the game is dead.
PvE Balance – (Though not in the same way, In the way Anet promised us during development http://gw2101.gtm.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/combat/healing-death/)
Optional Challenging content – FoW, UW, DoA
Heroes/Henchmen/Mercenaries
2 professions
A pool of skills which should work as it does in GW1.

The storymode dungeons aren’t your story though. It’s you helping out Destiny’s Edge get over themselves.
The personal storyline isn’t replayable and doesn’t encourage you to play in a team. I did my entire personal story solo until I got to Arah.
The GW1 way of running the campaign was superb. It encouraged you to party up *(certainly in prophecies before Heroes) and adding the bonus allowed you to just skip through it if you wanted “quick mode”, or complete it if you wanted the full shabam. They also got progressively harder as the campaign went on meaning they were actually a real challenge… something I didn’t find with this story. Remember Gate of Madness? That was such a pain when I got there first time round.

Not breezed over! Your reference to the “Seriousness” is spot on. There really is no other way to say it. What happened to the actual fantasy style to GW2? I honestly feel like this game is being stuffed with “kiddy” type content.
Wintersday was cool in GW2, but just had a lot of silly/giddy type content that didnt really draw me in.
Wintersday in GW1 had a serious lore tied to it, Dwayna versus Grenth. That was cool, serious, and interesting.
Alliances and ditch the multi Guild thing.
More skills and good skills at that. As it is now I always feel like I’m picking the best of a bad bunch with skills in this game. None made me go into “I must have that on my bar!” mode like many GW skills did.
I think alliances should be in the game, and you should only be able to switch guilds within that alliance. With the addition of Alliance based content (Alliance Bounties, Rushes, Puzzles). I think that would be really cool. That way if I decide to represent another guild in the alliance, I can still talk to my friends in the other.

This would be a godsend. I miss the DAoC 20 guild alliance set ups on a daily basis for WvW, it would make organizing and finding roaming groups a lot easier if you had say 5 large WvW guilds and 15 smallers ones with a channel to talk to each other and find groups etc.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
Crikey theres a lot to go through but without doing that i’m just gonna blunder in and give my tuppence worth which is:
Underworld
Birthday presents
Cantha
Skill capturing
and by far and away the thing I would love most – Henchmen.

LITTLE THOM!
Dual proffessions & The gameplay From GW1 for the storyline in GW2. That once again you’ll need to party up with henchmens, the old camera angle, etc.
There are so many cool features in gw1 so it’s almost impossible to choose one or just a few.
But I would like to see:
- Heroes/Henchmen/Mercenaries in dungeons. Maybe the ability to bring your alts and tab between them during the fight, giving a nice reason to create more alts and level them up.
- More weapon skills. Maybe just more of the same weapon with different skill set, like several types of longbows: fire longbow(warriors), physical longbow (rangers), icy longbow, shocking longbow etc. etc.
- The Paragon class, shields and spears are here already
Hard mode -> better reward (could unlock skills too)
Elite Skill capture
Free respe everywhere when i want with the gw1 management system
Less farming, more challenge
Random Arenas
15 charr
Skill Capping, Hard Mode, weapon dying and over armor costumes.
That’s it honestly.
I miss dual classing, but I understand why it’s not in. It’s a nightmare to balance because literally any change to one skill could potentially effect every single class creating more problems, and that showed in GW1.
PVE for example was not balanced in the slightest, in fact for a lot of classes it had none what so ever. Sins could go entirely invincible, rangers were even more useless then they arguably are here, Eles were worthless in hard mode unless they used this overpowered heal build (before the ele update anyways, no idea how they are now), Mesmers were overpowered as hell in PVE after the mesmer update, paragons were worthless except for one build etc
And let’s not forget the PVE skills introduced in EoTN, oh god the PVE skills.
Oh, and I want GW1 ray of judgement back for Guardian. Not the current pitiful wisp of a partial beam we have now.

This game is called Guild Wars 2. the second version of Guild Wars. In the first game, you know, Guild Wars… Guilds… They could actually War. Guilds could fight each other.
I mean that is the name of your game. In Guild Wars 2, Guilds can not play against each other. Other than this being the first thing that should have been implemented in the game, why still, after 10 months, can Guilds not play against each other in a game called Guild Wars. It doesn’t make sense. You took away the place where guilds play against each other, and you took away the ability for guilds to fight. It’s not a question of “what do I want from gw1” it’s, "why even name this game Guild Wars 2, since you can’t do what the name of the game says.
How this is anything less than embarrassing for every developer is beyond me. You took away the most important tool for every guild leader and we now can’t tell how long our players have been offline. Why this wasn’t a basic feature in the roster, and completely forgotten, again makes me believe the current developers of this game didn’t even play GW1. It’s getting ridiculous because these updates never address any of the core problems with the game and add the basic things that anyone who played gw1 would expect in a sequel. They failed at getting testers who were critical, and haven’t listened to any common sense suggestions since release like the ones I stated above, they just keep adding temporary content that allows people to get rich for a while each month.
Bring us GvG (with guild halls) and HoH.
GvG was great for community building in a guild and HoH was PvP that felt like it mattered. I mean, you can win a WvW or lose it, but it really makes almost no difference. Back in GW1, however, the winners would be announced to every player in the game and winning for your country would unlock the most profitable areas in the game.

The game is called guild wars, you know the event that happen in the past right before the start of the game.
Fun fact: did you know that the max number of players for GvG was 7v7? which if you really wanted to you could easily do it especially now.

Bump! Share your GW1 experience with the community!
The alliance chat system. I loved having allied guilds in GW1.

Wait, what? Did you play a different game than me? Because I quite clearly remember GvG being 8v8… Unless you don’t count flagger or something?
Your first sentence is correct though, but I’m pretty sure GvG wouldn’t hurt this game in the slightest… On the contrary.. The only issue is the fact that EU can play against NA.
While I’m on the subject:
- The possibility for EU players and NA players to play together. I’m a EU player on an NA server because most of my friends from GW1 went there, but as a result I can’t play with many other friends I made back in GW1. Or my IRL friends for that matter, because they’re all also on EU servers.

Petless rangers, lol!
Entertaining pvp. GW1 was a pvp focused game and now here we are with the complete opposite catering to casuals. You know that the difficulty of your pve content is low when players have to resort to soloing giganticus(there is also handicapping yourself).

Since we call it Guild Wars i want Guild Wars GvG
And CLOAKS
Paragon , Dervish , Ritualist maybe a class that throw daggers
