Revenant Feedbacks [merged]
OP, you forget that they also do not have a monthly sub for playing this game. the very least you can do is spend an extra $10 to buy a character slot(because they arent asking for a required $180 every year). seriously, you are asking for way too much for a game with no monthly fee.
And a single character slot for veteran players in lieu of the base game key being separate from the HoT key would not have broken the bank given the number of players who would have been fine with that trade off.
We have people refusing to buy HoT over the whole situation. That’s at minimum kitten lost opportunity. And probably some are refusing to buy the $75 or $100 versions as well.
ANet is “losing” more money than it would have lost had they given out free character slots to veteran players.
Critwrench:
“By default, Guild Wars 2 comes with FIVE character slots. This is already an inadequate number, forcing you to pay 30 dollars extra if you want to play all of the base classes.”
GW1 still left us two short, no matter how many campaigns we got. (If you get Factions or Nightfall as your first game, you start four short.) Also, GW2 isn’t GW1.
Fegzig:
“I can not wait until tempers die down and we all can just enjoy HoT.”
The only reason I’m not giving your post a +1 is because I oppose the post-vote system as a whole and always have. This is a forum, for discussions as equals. Not a popularity contest.
But I wholeheartedly agree with your sentiment.
MMOGamer:
“It’s not free.”
I think he was talking about the content updates (Living Story, Feature Packs, etc.). We bought and paid for the game at release (and I will include the initial bugfixing patches of the early months as part of what we paid for, since, you know, we didn’t pay for a broken product).
Everything after? Holiday festivals, new zones, story arcs? Completely free (excepting Season 2, but only if you missed it firsthand). The only things we had to pay for were Gem Store stuff.
IF you count this added content as “paid for”, then how much of the purchase price do you value it at? For every penny you put in that pile, you are saying you paid that much less for the base game.
Arenanet didn’t have to give us free story updates. They didn’t even have to give us holiday festivals, in spite of it being “expected”. They did not have to give us three new map zones. When we bought the game, we bought access to the core world and campaign.
Saying “we paid for the extras” is, quite frankly, baloney (which is, itself, a baloney spelling of bologna – it’s that much more fake!). We paid for the released product, and the only things we can count as Arenanet’s “obligation” were the bugfixes to said base product.
(Heart of Thorns is another matter altogether, but enough has been said about that, on both sides, that I refuse to add more to the fire.)
can someone explain to me why everyone is worried about this char. slot?… i mean, revenant is not mandatory for anything and ok to try it, but ( maybe gem the slot, or delete some char. you don’t use anymore if you have it) i really hope this revenant hype go down fast, i’ll try him too maybe but imagine if all will be revenant? what a lame ending for the first month :P…
About the slot, i know they gave them back in the gw1 day, but is really a little plus if its free, really, if you have all slot full and with char. maxed out, you should already have the gems you need to buy the slot, if not, remember that they are actually giving 5 (or 6?) slots ’cause they are giving us a whole new account with the pre-purchase, just log in mail what you need between 2 account and thats it, if you think this is weird probably you are not so maxed out on slots
Neverwinter comes with TWO character slots originally, and after 6 modules, we haven’t got any new ones for free.
just for you guys to have a reference on other games
You dont even need to open your wallet to get a character slot. You can do it all in game by getting gold and transferring the gold over to gems and getting a gasp free slot!
You can pretty much get everything for free if you want too, it will just take some time to do so. Play the game and get it, they dont have to just hand it over to you because you think you should get it.

Guild Wars 1 had no monthly sub fee AND not a fraction of the gem store that we have today and they still gave us 2 characters slots with each xpac…. Your argument is invalid
GW1 “expansions” were much more frequent.

Neverwinter is a F2P game though. Can’t/shouldn’t compare the business model of a F2P game to a B2P game.
Let’s review this Finisher.
To me, personally, this finisher is lame for a Pre-purchase .
I would have liked it far better if the Revenant came and summoned a group of legends to lay down the PWNWTF on the downed enemy…
But what’s your thoughts on this finisher?
I quite like it. I’ve not got HoT yet, as I’m waiting to find out how the kitten storm pans out, and what we are getting for our money.
I think its.just the right amount of cool. Not over the top like some of them.
|Seasonic S12G 650W|Win10 Pro X64| Corsair Spec 03 Case|
It looks really cheap and I wouldn’t be surprised if we see rytlock do a similar animation in the story campaign.

GW1 “expansions” were much more frequent.
A pace they knew they couldn’t maintain, with each game – as a potential starting point – requiring full tutorials, each larger than the last due to increasing amounts of game mechanics. And the creeping increase in assets.
GW2 also takes a lot more work since it came out of the gate with more things to code than all of GW1 had to worry about.
As for character slots? You still couldn’t make one of every class without buying any. You would be short by two (or four, if you had Factions alone, Nightfall alone, or Factions+Nightfall as your only two). Still a lesser disparity than GW2’s, but it’s there.

So basically you are ok with paying 50 bucks for a game while you can’t get what you paid for.
Seriously… Some players can’t breath enough oxygen to understand this basic reality but somehow they are able to play this game =/
Take a look at the comparison I made for the previous expansions and what was included in the base version of the game. In EVERY Guild Wars 1 game that introduced professions, they gave you one character slot per new profession added, so:
Factions: 2 new professions, 2 character slots included with base game
Nightfall: 2 new professions, 2 character slots included with base game
Eye of the North: 0 new professions, no character slot included with the base game.
Yep, they got greedy, and just as bad again, took their existing playerbase for granted by giving new players the base game + expac for the same price as an existing players can buy the expac.
It is only common sense that an expac that introduces a new class comes with a new character slot. Not bundling one is a a pretty low, cynical, & greedy move.
they dont have to just hand it over to you because you think you should get it.
and likewise, we don’t have to hand over our $$ to buy the expac if we think it’s shady/bad value.
I’m not sure if this topic has been talked about already, but I’d like to propose an alteration to the orbs that come out of the revenant staff auto-attack.
The orbs from what I understand (although I might have misinterpreted the POI video covering the Ventari legend,) are healing orbs that drop on the ground similar to engineer med-packs. This is pretty good for the Ventari legend, but what about for players who are confident with their abilities to avoid damage and focus more on dps? I personally think the effects of the orbs from the staff should be directly linked to whichever legend is being channeled at the time.
-Ventari orbs would obviously be healing orbs.
-Jalis orbs could temporarily increase armor.
-Shiro orbs could temporarily increase attack.
-Mallyx orbs could act like venoms with random conditions.
-Glint orbs could do something shiny.
Obviously these buffs would be adjusted so they aren’t too powerful and don’t outshine similar buffs created by other classes; these orbs could encourage more diversity in group interaction and tie in better with the various legends. I’m not trying to suggest that legends alter weapon skills to the extent of an elementalist, but I think these orbs are a good opportunity to add something new and flavorful to the gameplay of GW2. Healing orbs are nice, but all they do is heal. These are just my opinions anyway. Revenant looks amazing no matter what.
So why they have lower amount of utility skills compared to old base classes? Some people argue that they have equal amount due to heal/elite skills so lets do a comprasion
Base revenant – 4 heal skills, 4 elite, 3 utilities for a total amount of 12 utility skills
Elite spec most will provide another 1 heal and elite skills, next 3 utilities for a to a amount of 15. Counting elite spec total amount of skills is 20
Meanwhile guardian has 4 heal, 4 elite and 20 utility skills
Dragon hunter provides another 1 heal and elite, 4 utility skills
Total amount of skills 34. Some classes have 3 elite skills olny still
Where is the balance? Not olny revenant got lower amount of utility skills type (4) but also 3 utility skills per type without any way to swap them for something else which in fact it reduce the possible amount usable skills in solo settings – mallyx pain absord is USELESS while being alone, you wont cast it even once. Right there we have -1 skills of already low amount.
Lets also not forget that revenant has next to 0 stunbreakers. All they have in fact is rite which lock them in 3sec long animation – i dont even know what to say..i rathen stay stunned than lock myself in even longer selfdaze. Ofc there is a trait to stunbreak at legend swap but its not something you will use this way unless your energy is low either way.
For me its simple, give them f2-4 and f5 keys with elite spec or create 2 more utility skills per legend to bring them up to old classes.
5 baseline legends = 25 skills like every other class.
Elite spec Legend = 5 skills. Thats 30 skills.
Oh yeah you right.
3*6= 18 utilities, elite specialization included.
They can swap between 2 sets of skills in combat. that means more healing/utility and elite skills in combat then the other professions. But really, does it matter if they have less? They play differently. I recommend reading the forums more since this has been talked about like everyday.

That’s still less skills. The 6-0 are like Revenant’s weapon skills since they cant switch weapon skills.
so thats less than Ele which also cant switch weapons.

Rev has 4 base legends. Glint is elite – that datamined shield really sums it up and there is no need to even argue over that anymore….Guardian has now 28 skills+3 extra skills from virtue mechanic, revenant has 20 skills with mechanic being an utility swap.

And my warrior can swap between 2 sets of weapon skills in combat, so my guardian, so my ele which has access to 20 skills at once without conjures+another 5 utility skills (and coutning conjues ele can circle between 44 skills during combat) , so is engi with possiblity to get 30 skills at once with 4 kits. How revenant looks in comprasion?
If anything you should actually take a closer look as you definitely dont understand the point i made. Theres no such thing as more healing cause revenant is balanced around 2 healing skills already. Healing signet alone heals for more than base of Jalis+Mallyx combined. You also dindt addressed the fact that some of rev utility skills are useless while playing solo which limits his amount of usable skills futher. My advice is for you to actually learn basic of the game before taking voice about balance, or actually the lack of such thing in case of rev.
Rev has 4 base legends. Glint is elite…
Why do people keep saying this? Does having 4 base traitlines on a class make sense? Has it been officially announced that Revenant’s only have 4 base traitlines (legends) and that the fifth one would be the elite spec?

The fifth core spec for revs is not tied to any specific legend, apparently.
In combat
Revenant: 2 heals, 6 utilities and 2 elites
Other Classes: 1 heal, 3 utilities and 1 elite
Raw number of possibilities doesn’t mean much
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)

Hmmm. Okay. Now that makes sense. They’ll sort of be like Elems with their arcane line, which isn’t necessarily an element.
I wonder how the spec will change the class mechanic then. So far, if it’s an off hand weapon, the class mechanic gets changed to compensate.
Yes, a much better idea.
Weapon skills should get adjusted to the Legendary as well, not only the Utilities…

Datamined shield is in Glint theme. I was saying before that Glint cannot be an elite spec as rev would be short on utility skills but it just..happened.

2 heals = 2x chance to intterupt, 2x more time to heal up

I would really like a place to read and talk about the Revenant profession. At one point there were some threads in this subforum, but with the search broken I can’t find anything. I would really like a place to discuss it before the profession actually launches.
If anyone knows of a megathread or anything that heavily discusses builds etc.. please feel free to link it.
Pretty please?

I think they are too afraid of people complaining about lower amount of utility skills compared to old classes. That and also the fact that rev has no stunbreaks, cant swap utility skills for something else if it doesnt suit your build..
Revenant has access to a stun break in the Invocation tree, via legend swapping. A stun-break every 5 seconds sounds pretty decent to me

8* seconds. You have to trait for it and most important..will you swap at high energy? Not olny that but legend swap might put you into bad position, imagine a ranger swapping to longbow when a thief is in your face..so what if you stunbreaked when now a thief will eat you alive. Anyone can w8 as well for your swap and cc your after.

It’s still a stun-break, which you claimed he had none.
And that’s the nature of stun in general, buddy. They’re supposed to inconvenience you into doing something you don’t want to do, either burn a CD or put you into a position that favors the enemy.

Huh? Ask necros how great use they making of foot in the grave. Nobody uses it as a 10sec stunbreak.
I prefer to burn some of my energy rathen than burn whole energy bar along with whole set of utilities, thanks you. No other class is punished that hard for a stunbreak.
I just bought ultimate edition heart of thorns. There is a beta character slot but I can’t create the revenant profession. If someone know please tell me how.
There is no beta active at the moment you need to wait
There is no beta going on.
There is no.

Oh kitten , who switched off the Universe again?
You will either have to wait for a BWE to use a temporary Beta character slot, or for Heart of Thorns to release to make a permanent Revenant.
Good luck.

There’s a lot of talk about the unveiled specializations, particularly thief, with those recently datamined images. This one in particular: http://i.imgur.com/xA8qvVk.png depicts a ninja-like character wielding a staff.
But have any of you guys considered that that the revenant will get a specialization as well? It is, after all, a basic profession, just like the warrior or guardian. It makes no sense for the revenant to miss out on the specialization mechanic simply because it is a new class. Otherwise, once the novelty of using a new profession wears off, the revenant will feel incomplete compared to the other eight professions. It would have less options for customization, less traits to choose from, and balance-wise that wouldn’t be very fair.
So with that being said, what do you think a specialization for the revenant would play like? That’s hard to say considering we don’t know much about the class to begin with. I can guess that their new weapon will be ranged, since all current weapons we’ve seen have been melee so far.
They actually already said Revenant will have one, at HoT launch, even. No clue what the unique trade off will be,but it’s speculated that Glint (+ shield) is the Elite for Revenant.
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
Like ronpierce said, it has already been confirmed that the Revenant will also be getting an elite specialization, with the speculation that it will be Glint-themed.
I can guess that their new weapon will be ranged, since all current weapons we’ve seen have been melee so far.
Actually, both the Hammer and the Axe are ranged weapons.

whats the range on axe? I’m trying to build a good rev, but i never got to play one in beta :S
whats the range on axe? I’m trying to build a good rev, but i never got to play one in beta :S
If I remember correctly, the 4 of the axe has a 900 distance range. Once you hit the foe, you teleport behind him. And the spell 5 has a 600 distance I think.
But the mace’s auto-attack is a melee attack, event though its two other spells are mid-ranged.
So you could say that mace+axe is a weapon set for melee and mid-ranged combat.
That picture looks like a thief with a staff.
That picture looks like a thief with a staff.
Yes, that is what we are speculating now, and that elite spec weapons won’t be exclusive to each one, like it may be possible that Druid and thief elite spec will get staff and Chronomancer and rev elite spec will get shield.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
