Warrior's New Weapon and Specialization
It’s would be completely nonsensical and has no lore president. It makes no sense and is based on some weird delusion of yours.

Soldier cuz its seems like more advanced Warrior. Pistol in main hand.
Also ranger is getting staff as the druid so the chance that the warrior also gets a staff very close to 0%

This. Besides, it already appears to be the case that the revenant is getting a melee staff.

Its exactly the way I see revenant channeling Ventari’ legend and smash enemies with staff and trample them.

Hmm, I’m thinking that their specialization will be called “Avatar” or maybe “Colossus” and that they will get ability to dual-wield greatswords and hammers. What do u think ?
Whatever warriors get, we know it will be one of the strongest specs.

I’m hoping for Phalanx, Knight, maybe Tactician, or something defensive in nature, (presuming the screen capped F2 skill will be for the offhand, but man I’m still hoping they make it baseline otherwise I will somewhat feel forced to get another burst skill).
No clue what the weapon should be (considering the only physical options are Shortbow, Pistol MH/OF, Dagger MH/OF). Thought I could see Venoms working for either sb or dagger, but neither goes that well with a defensive theme. Survival skills are another option, as some of those function exactly like venoms. But anyway you slice it I want Taunt.
So far of the new conditions (may have missed some):
Slow: Guard, Rev, Chronomancer
Resistance: Rev, War, Reaper
Taunt: Rev(50% uptime), Ranger (pet F2)
Alacrity: Chronomancer
The only options to me that made sense for Taunt would be either a heavy or a high hp profession. We already know Rev’s get it, and the Ranger pet getting it also makes some sense. I was shocked that the guard spec didn’t get it, and before Friday I was laughing to myself thinking “they’re going to give the necro spec Taunt because the devs think they’re punching bags.” Again happy that they didn’t get it either. Of the remaining professions:
Theif: I don’t think so
Druid: That doesn’t really make sense (again outside of their pet getting it)
Tempest: If they give ele’s taunt I may cry, plus nothing about the name Tempest makes me think “hey you come over here and attack this raging storm”
Engi: A potential contender, but I don’t see great synergy with a hammer
War: The more likely candidate
So unless they want taunt to be pretty much a rev only thing, which I would not enjoy, they have to give it to another class. War makes the most sense to make use of it. High amount of blocks and invulns and would supplement some more of the defensive weapons that don’t see much love.
Hell I would love a GM trait for ~600 range AoE taunt on use of block skill. Or just getting taunt some other way, shield F2, a venom/survival skill, a weapon skill, trait for when you use a shout skill (makes the least sense since shouts won’t be a spec thing). Personally, I love the first idea because I would love some might stacking synergy via Shield Master.
revenant getting melee staff? holy moley!
I’m assuming it will be some kind of “commando” with pistol, perhaps with gadgets as utility skills, much as I loath that idea.
Staff is nonsensical. Doubtful rev will get a melee staff too. Maybe a regular magic staff with a couple melee abilities, but doubtful of a full out melee build staff.
So far of the new conditions (may have missed some):
Slow: Guard, Rev, Chronomancer
Resistance: Rev, War, Reaper
Taunt: Rev(50% uptime), Ranger (pet F2)
Alacrity: Chronomancer
Resistance is a boon though. That being said, I wouldn’t mind Warrior getting some sort of new boon or appliable condition that was kind of like a counterstance that punishes foes for hitting you or that can be more leveraged with a defensive build.
Yeah, there’s Retaliation but without bodies (i.e. pets), that alone isn’t leveragable for a playstyle to be effective.
Someone sacrifice the OP to Mordremoth for even suggesting this.
Oh didn’t you hear? Warrior is going to be the newest high concept class, the “Dragonbrawler”. It’s going to use a really mature thematic.
Soldier cuz its seems like more advanced Warrior. Pistol in main hand.
You know ANet said all profs only getting 1 new weap but I don’t think they ever said they won’t be able to dual wield them. If any of the remaining profs get Pistol no reason they won’t get dual pistols.
Whatever warriors get, we know it will be one of the strongest specs.
and like all warrior builds, will require no skill whatsoever

Ok, “Jon”.
A little analize:
Ranger skills: Shout , Survival, Signet, Spirit, Trap.
Guardian skills: Shout, Meditation, Consacration, Signet, Spirit Weapon.
Thief Skills: Trik, Deception, Signet, Trap, Venom.
Necromancer: Spectral, Corruption, Minion, Well, Signet.
Elementalist: Conjure weapon, Signet, Glyph, Arcane, Cantrint.
Eingenier: Gadget, Device kit, Elixir, Turret.
Mesmer: Clone, Glamour, Phantasm, Manipulation, Signet.
We already know:
Mesmer → Shield / Well ( Necro)
Guardian → Longbow / Traps ( Ranger, Thief )
Necromancer → Greatsword / Shout ( Ranger , Guardian, Warrior )
“Warriors are masters of weaponry who rely on speed, strength, toughness, and heavy armor to survive in battle. Adrenaline fuels their offensive power—the longer warriors stay in a fight, the more dangerous they become.”
So he will receive something more appropriate to his desin: no magic.
If we don’t count magic skills, skills that warrior already have, and the other skills that other classes already received, it will become:
Ranger skills: Survival.
Guardian skills: Meditation, Consacration. ( Personaly I don’t know if it’s more physic, or magic, help me Q__Q )
Thief Skills: Trik, Deception, Venom.
Necromancer: -
Elementalist: -
Eingenier: Gadget, Device kit, Elixir, Turret.
Mesmer: -
Now I don’t think Warrior will take Thief skills (Trik, Deception, Venom). As far as i know, Warriors are direct guys, and don’t like trik others, hide, or use venoms (the last one probably have a little chanse).
For the remain Guardian skills, I don’t know if they are more physical than magical. Probably Meditation skills would be good.
For the Eingenier skills, personaly I’ll not count Turrets, they are simply not Warrior-like (for my view of point). But a Warrior with Gadget, Device kit, Elixir would not be so bad. In this case a possible weapon would be: Pistol.
In the best probability ( for me ) abaut Warrior new skills : Survival from Ranger. Why? Because we are going into a jungle, that sort of skills would suit Warrior pretty well there. And as weapon: Dagger. Because big weapons aren’t suited for a place full of vegetation, they would be hard to use, and they are more suited for the place and the class.

Did you forget that Necromancers are getting Greatswords when you wrote this part?

Pistol, Torch, Dagger, and Shortbow are the most obvious answers. Most likely offhand pistol because of the Rytlock precedent.

Ye, I remember well, I also remember already 2 necromancer have GS : Trahearne and Marjory. personaly I think some classes follow some path to evolve, and isn’t necessary to be the same path for evry classes.

I think they shouldn’t pull a dragonhunter and instead they should make the warrior’s specialization an extension and alternative to what they are rather that something that’s completely different mechanically and thematically. So I wouldn’t go with “Sage” personally.

You do realize that all Elite specializations are an adaptation of the philosophies of other classes – spun into a way that reflects the core class.
Dragonhunter integrates Ranger principles in a way that is thematically and mechanically fitting to the Guardian.
Chronomancer does the same with the Necromancer, attaching their own spin on wells and death shroud into the Mesmer’s mechanics.
Reaper does this with Warrior themes, giving the Necromancer a relentless berserker style and Shouts.
Don’t be surprised if every other specialization is like this as well.

Torch would be nice, for “raider” – makes sense to burn stuff in the jungle and be a skirmish expert.
I’m hoping warriors get a staff with some aoe auto attack like guardian. Though I have a feeling it will be some main hand or off hand rubbish.

Did you just name one of the overall weakest weapons in the game – generally used only for tagging or wvw – and then call some more realistic options rubbish?
Tomb Raider: Torch and trick/deception.
:D
I am almost sure that it will be a pistol. Earlier Rytlock was one of main characters who used a pistol. He was warrior. And now he’s revenant. Warriors will have to take over the baton.
What I’m expecting: torch, pistol offhand or dagger offhand.
What I want: Pistol mainhand.
Utilities: survival, gadgets, weapon kits or tricks.
Possible names: Brawler, Tactician, Vanguard, Berserker, Phalanx, etc.
(edited by Khenzy.9348)
What if Warrior gets Minion Skills?
Spec called Commander. Get Pistol Off-hand and can call in Medics, Archers, Standard Bearers, Demolitionists, Phalanx troops and as an Elite, Racial Heroes like our fabulous friend Lord Faren! Adrenaline is replaced with a Morale Bar that increases the Effectiviness of Utility Skills, old and new.
(I’d personally, honestly, forgive ANet if they give Warriors Minion Skills, if Lord Faren is one of them. We were the best Buddy Cop Duo in the Reach back in Personal Story Chapter 1!)
(Ok, I probably wouldn’t forgive them for it, but you bet I’d still run around with Lord Faren everywhere.)
Thief – Duelist | Ranger – Strider | Engineer – Technician |
Elementalist – Spellweaver | Necromancer – Warlock | Mesmer – Trickster |
Maybe they’ll create a 2-hand Axe and only give it to Warriors, then add elixirs, aka “steroids”, and call them Berzerkers.

Hate to burst anyone’s bubble, but neither Revenant nor any other class will be getting a melee staff, aka polearm.
http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/2tsiox/pax_afterparty_lessons_learned/
We talked polearms. No polearms in this expansion. Colin said “We warned the art team what the community would think when they saw the trailer, but they chose to make things the way they did.” It looks like a polearm but it is not. No word if they ever will be.
As for Warrior, my vote for weapon specialization (although it’s not going to happen) is… no weapon! Bare fists all the way baby.
I can’t think of a combination I’d really like to see on the warrior,
but anyways.
Warrior/thief – dagger- tricks .
Warrior /engineer -pistol- gadgets
I really don’t see anything I’d like mixed with warrior.

They said it specifically wasn’t a polearm and Revenants are speculated to use staves. You are coming to a false conclusion.

Give warriors a main hand shield and treat it like a massive katar. Yes, this is a “wierd dilusion” of mine, but it would be pretty cool and unique.

Hate to burst your bubble, but the Revenant melee staff skills were datamined long ago.

Also, who would have thought that Revenant would have gotten ranged Hammer of all things. Melee Staff is far from unreasonable.
I wouldn’t mind a staff because quarterstaff-style combat sounds fun, but with druids getting staff our warriors probably won’t touch it for the time being. Personally I predict that warriors get torch.
Warriors need Two handed axe and polearm

Eles can conjure main hand shields. Therefore it won’t be that wierd. But, nevertheless, it would be ridiculous. So better not to do this.
Name: Commander
Weapon: Off Hand Pistol
Skill: Consecration
F1: Shout
I just think this is a different idea i didn’t see posted.
Reasoning.
The name because Swords and pistols we,re used by officers and commanders threw out modern war history.
The Weapon simply because not a lot of options left for warrior.
The Skill, the previous specs have had no new skill type just taken from another class, meditation is guardians unique skill so i think consecrations are likely and fit with the general style of buffing and helping allies, before you say shouts do that too, Guardians also have both.
I could add lot more but general idea is cool, the F1 i have no idea about but shout seems possible.
I kind of expect traps, but ones that focus less on damage and more on buffing allies. Basically, you throw them down and stand in them, and when the enemy closes in (hey, Taunt!), the “trap” goes off and everyone’s buffed. They can be stronger than normal buffs because of the extra mechanics needed, and they do carry the benefit of not needing to pause to ‘cast’ them when it’s time.
As for the weapon? I really do think it will be an off-hand pistol.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
Warrior gains shortbow and venoms .
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”
- Jareth, King of Goblins.
I think it would make more sense for warrior to get either a pistol, shortbow, or dagger as their new weapon. Honestly, there’s nothing magical about them, so there’d be less sense for anything magical to be given to them.
