The Reason I don’t buy hot is to much loot.

No no, I like loot and gold and be rich BUT I don’t like spend 10 % of my playtime clicking salvaging.

atm I don’t play the game at all but when I play I only can bare pvp since my finger start hurting from all that clicking to salvaging stuff. And that issue makes me a once extreme GW2 gamer to a extreme Casual GW2 player with monthly breaks.

It might be a weird reason but that’s my main issue

An odd reason not to buy a game. Just sell it all on the TP, or merchant it.

Overall state of the game, i migh get Hot in 8+ months after release just to try a scraper, since i dont like gw2 pve, and DH does not seems like a elite spec for my guardian(motly like another class to easilly die in AOE, or get forced to play medi bow gs builds).

Im also slightly bothered by the fact that a few months ago you could get the full game for $10 (I didnt know about it at the time), but now there is no way to buy the core game at all if you believe the official site or in-game info.
So the only option for most new players who want to remove all the restrictions is to pay $50 for an expansion they may not want or need.

HoT are classes designed for PVE, and the bad balance towards making game more comercials and easy for every one to get kills by just picking certain builds, is making a huge gap on classes builds.

That is also another reason im delaying HoT.

Anet, stated many times that each new content will be tied to the expansion, and it will be required to have it to play the new content, so good luck playing gw2 the way you play it now without the expansion. ive played gw2 for almost 6k hours, started at headstart release, but i pretty much quit playing since about 2 months ago. was a regular everyday player except for a couple weeks during frost and flames in LS s1.

when the expansion was announced i was a little hyped, and i was considering buying it, but i held off and realized so many things i dont like about the game, the company, and new features coming with HoT.

first of all, no new dungeons. i loved dungeons. i loved story and explorable. i loved going through it and learning it, going slow and teaching people who didnt know how to do it, and speedrunning it. now i know theres fractal content coming, and i was running fractals daily, but each fractal is about 3 rooms with connecting hallways and it just doesnt compare to the size of the dungeons.

(possibly) no underwater content. i havent seen anything hinting at any at least. they removed it from WvW and removed raid on the capricorn (pvp). okay okay, i understand there may have been a majority of people that hated underwater combat or felt it was too slow to travel through. in my opinion though, its the best underwater combat ive played in a game. i think it looks beautiful and its fun to explore.

the release of new content. i loved living story season 1. i thought they did a very good job with it. season 2 just seemed like a fraction of the content in single player missions with a lack of updates randomly in between. even the festivals seemed to get a little worse every time. even though its mostly rehashed content, they added or removed little things that just didnt help. repeating the bloody prince single player missions with tassi, lunar new year replacing(?) dragon bash stuff, not opening super adventure box. after LS s2 ended there is months and months of no content, understandably because they are pouring everything into the expansion, but it just isnt a good way to keep people in the game. this section is just my opinion and can probably receive a ton of criticism.

the newly added maps.
-southsun was fun doing the event when it first opened up, but it ended up not being used for much outside of daily karka queen, karka shell farming for gold, and possibly a little t6 mat farming just from the high level enemies (that actually drop loot!).
-i love dry top and think the concept is fun. i love the crystal movement skills to get around, doing the events as a map, and the skins are actually well made. the only problem is the size of the zone is just so small compared to the base maps from release.
-silverwastes has the same size problem. its the same size as dry top and both of them combined are possibly as big as brisban wildlands next to it, including the height differences adding new layers in the new maps. the concept of the map is awesome, and it seems like they carried that into HoT which is fine. the bosses and enemies are a great addition. the labyrinth seems like it became a waste of time, while chest farming became one of the best farms ever. i have no problem with people running chest laps, but i feel like running in a circle opening chests shouldnt reward so much (lets face it, keys are very easy to get and can be earned by auto attacking vinewrath trash a few runs).
i understand maybe i shouldnt complain about them because they are free content, but after almost three years releasing three maps smaller than the existing maps is a little dull.

so, looking back on all that, it gives me an idea on what to look forward to if i bought the expansion. would they do anything differently? maybe. but i would rather wait and buy the game at a later point.

as for new stuff, specializations seem a little underwhelming. i feel like they could have made them more independent from the base class instead of just adding a weapon and a few skills. no news on how many maps are in HoT is a big reason for me to wait. will they have “half” the game at release and have the rest of it become available through updates? who knows.

i may buy HoT at a later date. but im for sure not preordering it based on what we have seen so far and not buying it at release before i see whats actually in it.

$10 for a three year old game that was about to get an expansion. But why should a game that gives you hundreds if not thousands of hours of play sell for $10. People spend $50 for games that last them 16 hours. It’s silly to think HoT isn’t worth that.

What makes me not want to buy HoT? It’s a matter of principle. I don’t like how they handled the pre-purchase debacle, I don’t like how they handled this last event, I don’t like how they (in my opinion), have and continue to support sucky/shady business practices. Also, the price is a bit of an obstacle right now. I don’t like feeling like I’ve gotten a big slap in the face with almost every patch that goes into the game. They’ve rubbed me the wrong way all too much, I’m still a bit salty over them putting the tormented and zodiac weapon skins behind a pay/gambling wall, when you had to actually “earn them” in gw1.

However, with that being said…I’m buying HoT because I feel kind of forced to do so.

1.) The new living story will be in HoT, so if I wanted to wait to purchase HoT when it goes on a sale, I’d also have to throw some more money at the LS chapters (bi-weekly window to claim (unless I’m mistaken, and I could just log onto the base game in order to have those story chapters to play when I do buy HoT). If not, well then…looks like I have to buy HoT.

2.) My friends play gw2, and it’s hard to get them to play anything else. So if I want the game to be anything other than a glorified chatroom…then I have to buy HoT.

3.) If I wait to purchase the expac based on reviews after it comes out, then I lose the extra character slot deal…forced to pre-purchase if I want that (would be nice, but I already have an extra character slot).

etc etc…….

No news on how many maps are in HoT is a big reason for me to wait. will they have “half” the game at release and have the rest of it become available through updates? who knows.

i may buy HoT at a later date. but im for sure not preordering it based on what we have seen so far and not buying it at release before i see whats actually in it.

Going by the last information available, we’re getting 4 maps with HoT with 3 layers each. I personally played in both beta weekends so far, and we got to play 50% in total of only the first map. IMO it felt huge. Bigger then any map currently in gw2, and we still haven’t seen the rest 50% of it. This I remind you, was only 1 of the 4 new maps, and they will all be in similiar size. You can easily open the world map and see for yourself how huge Maguuma Wastes is on the map compared to other regions.

Also you left out the raids. We don’t have an information on how big they will be in terms of size, yet, but going on the assumption this will be the most challenging group content in the game, they will certainly should be bigger then dungeons. Also lets not forget fractals get an additional 50 levels, and maybe even new fractal maps, who knows? We simply don’t know yet. Honestly for me, atleast, the information we have until now is enough to build my decision that the expansion will be worth it for me.

Maybe if you have participated in the beta weekends for yourself you might have a different view, but sadly (and that’s one of the worst decisions Anet made, imo), they were open only for people who already bought the expansion.

I’ve recently dished out 60 € for an “open world” game. Currently played 172 hours in about 11 days, and although i won’t play that game for months on end, it’s worth every cent.
Why ? Because it’s not Gw2, let me explain :

- new graphics engine that gives you simply amazing scenery, textures, graphical details, environmental effects. Not so in GW2 with it’s old engine.
- a different style of gameplay, a different world to explore.
- different approaches to different goals/objectives.
-…etc etc etc.

Fact is, even with HoT, GW2 is very limited. I leave a game behind as soon as it can’t measure up to my current standards. When you look at some of the newer games that came out and are coming out, you cannot help but feel that this is an ‘old’ title, even with a ‘new’ expansion.

Just look at Tom clancy’s The Division. Although a completely different game, it boasts some of the more graphical onslaught anyone can imagine. It’s a completely different genre, and not in the same box as mmo’s like GW2, but seriously, if i have to choose between that and HoT, my choice is already made.

HoT might be something a lot of GW2 players want from their game, but as it stands now, GW2 is pretty repetitive (once you’ve “been there, done that”) and kind of ‘bland’ graphics wise.

This quote is about right on the mark :

i may buy HoT at a later date. but im for sure not preordering it based on what we have seen so far and not buying it at release before i see whats actually in it.

For me the question is simple : is an ‘old’ title with an expansion worth 50€ ? Maybe, if the content trumps the lack of graphical quality i’m used to these days. But i’m not so sure of that.

Do people even realise how redicilous it is to compare graphics of an MMO with those of an single player game? If you preffer to spend your money on some new AAA title with the new graphics engines, go ahead, thats perfectly reasonable. Its your money, its your choice. But, please, dont compare graphic engines, using this as proof how “outdated” the game is. Sure the graphics can’t compare to those of “The Witcher 3” perhaps, but in the first case with MMO the processing is made by the CPU, where in the case with the new AAA single-player base games, its mostly handled by the GPU. You just can’t compare them. The gw2 graphics are still one of the best by MMO standart.

I haven’t preordered because I haven’t seen enough content to justify $50 yet. I’ll probably end up doing it if the druid looks like it will be fun so I can get the character slot but i’m guessing there will be quite a few sales over the Christmas season so it’d probably still be cheaper to wait and buy an extra slot with money after release if it looks like it’s worth it.

Not enough new armor & weapon skins, I don’t care about raids, I’m only interested in the chronomancer elite spec and revenant. I was expecting adventures to be fun quests with unique rewards, not silly collect this or kill that mini-games. I’ll still buy it though because of my friend. I’m already a bit of an outcast in his guild so I don’t want to be left behind.

Your reason for not buying the xpac OP is a little strange tbh. But I agree that there’s too much unnecessary clicking in this game.

I never claimed that I expected it to be cheap within 6 months or a year. As I said, I do not care. I prefer NOT to play it when its new and the whole server is playing it.

How will the game be any less for me than it is now if I don’t get the expansion? You make no sense. Are they taking things away if you don’t have the expansion?

What was so bad about the game for the past 3 years? If its so awful without the expansion, then why are you even still playing it?

What you said is not what he said.

Why are people so dismissive of the OP? It’s a legit concern. Anet seems to think quantity > quality.

oh well, i payed 60 usd for the game, and now they want me to play another 50, im willing to pay 20 and no more. There are other reasons too, i really tried to like this game’s pve, but i just cant, my level of fun is 1 in a scale from 1 to 10 in pve, pvp could be a great experience, because in my opinion its where the game shines, but, match making is poor due to the small player base and balance patches once an year no thx.

Love roaming builds and non meta silly builds.
Don’t worry boys, Blade and Soul is coming.

I have not even played it yet, so take this with a grain of salt.

I have seen several post saying its too hard… I have no idea.

I’m a casual player, more interested in acquiring things and building my wealth than hard core gamming. Maybe that’s stupid, but that’s what I enjoy.

I fully realize there are many that like difficult battles, and that’s fine if that is what they like. So to each there own.

I will probably buy HoT, but I will be very disappointed if its too hard. If its no worse than ore or even a little harder, I will be fine with that, but if its like fractals….well not so much.

Hot wont’ be hard in the beginning with tons of people around in the zones. HoT may get hard later when there are less people.

Even a casual player won’t have too much problem, because they’re not going to be alone. Sure there are hard events, or hard things to solo.

But you won’t have to solo a lot of that stuff. Obviously you probably won’t want to raid, but even without that there’s plenty to do.

Do not press key to loot dead mob. But one of that loot might be precursor and you never know you did not get. Or you can join my personal guild to make deposit and I will take. Let me know in game.

Sure. I’ve been playing since a month after release and I’ve yet to have one drop. And I don’t expect to ever see one.

On the OP’s note; I’ll wait and see how much of a disaster it turns out to be before I decide whether or not to drop some cash on it.

Havn’t really seen enough content so far besides the specializations which will be my primary reason for buying this exp since i dont want to be kitten out vs other people that have full acces to all specializations.Laying down 45e just for that is a bit to much. Also i have no idea how much different armor/weapon sets will become available ( not gemstore ! ).Besides that i’m not all that interested in the pve side of gw2 anymore so i highly doubt i will suddenly start liking it in hot.And i kind of feel they didn’t really listen that much to their playerbase the last 3 years.

Tons and tons of suggestions ( good suggestions ) have been ignored, bugs that are still ingame and not being looked at.Only one new imo poor pvp map implemented, moba style.if i want to play a moba i’d play that,i’d rather like to see some deathmatch maps coming in that require less time and money to be made i reckon since there arn’t any new mechanics being introcued with it,just a Map to fight each other…what pvp should be all about. And i;m also pretty much dissapointed what ive seen from the new wvw bl,it looks like eotm v2 to me.So yeah the only reason i’d buy it now will be specializations only,so i’m holding off.

Lack of diverse viability in both professions and builds for spvp.

Not enough changes to shake-up the WvW meta. They promise to focus on WvW after release of HoT which is total kitten because they will be too busy fixing bugs and stuff which is what happens every time they release anything.

The invasions event is a sign that HoT content can just be zerged instead of being challenging.

I won’t sink $50 into a game that may or may not be good, and it’s not like they’ll run out of digital copies of HoT at any point.

I’ll wait for legitimate reviews and gameplay demonstrations/information after the game launches to make a decision.

I also have little faith in ANets competency in developing challenging lasting content or to follow up on issues that have been plaguing this game for months and even years.

What is wrong with some of you? The Op asked a simple common sense direct understandable question.

The Op is asking you the question: Not for you to ask him/her the question or to answer it for him/her . English is not my primary language and i understand the differences.

This is not the first time i see this happening in the forum where a OP would ask for other opinions or asking questions and to be instead criticized and ridiculed.

So many times, that is the reason why i do not even waste my time to post on the forums because of this.

By the way, where are the moderators?

As you can see: The Problems we are experiencing today are not new, they existed years ago The quote makes 100% sense.

So Why would i buy anything including expansions that will in the end, just repeat the same old problems?

Would you purchase a new car that will have the same problems as previous years?

I wouldn’t

Anyways, That is my answer to the Op question.

that is all

Decent sized balance patches coming out only about every 6 months is ridiculous.

Not having very little new content while they work on the expansion makes it feel like I’m in part purchasing what should have been given out during that time.

My wife saw that HoT is to be the most anticipated release of the year. That tells me what a sad state MMOs are in. I don’t see much promising with this expansion. The raid content looks pretty thin. The guild halls are uninteresting. The changes to WvW will wreck the game. We still can’t talk to our own server in open world map chat to get people to defend or recruit. That’s an easy fix and they won’t even entertain it. More and more it seems Anet has blinders on, driven by who-knows what. All I see is pandering to TP moguls and whatever sells gems.
