Yeah, the elitist culture is pretty annoying – in fact, I wouldn’t join those groups because of their attitude. Someone who can’t take 15 seconds every so often to explain something isn’t someone I want to hang out with.

@ Bloke: Noppy is on the EU servers and I’m sure would love to go through AC with you (sorry Noppy for volunteering you).

@ Willow: As long as people are in the same region (NA/EU) as you, you are able to do the dungeon with them. Just join the party, get to the map with the entrance (so Frostgorge Sound for HotW, for example), and if someone has already started the instance, then you will get an invite box to join the instance no matter where you are on the map. There’s sometimes the problems of groups filling up too fast, or if I’m copying/pasting from that website I sometimes get some extra spaces in there that also mess up whispering or joining the party.

Mephisto, Willow, and Brambarov, I wll send you guild invites in just a few minutes. Next time you log on, open up your guild panel, accept the invite, and if you wish, represent and say hi in guild chat. See you around Tyria!

Oh, hey, this might be a good thread to ask, though the last time I poked my head in here to read was months ago.

Do you folks have any guilds that are aimed at running dungeons in a guide-like way? What I mean is getting people into explorables and helping to teach the mechanics of the dungeon and how the various paths can be handled and then doing casual groups for folks wanting to get dungeon skins and not just farming for gold.

I am a little embarrassed with how few of the explorables I’ve completed and would like to correct that.

synk – I don’t know of any guilds built specifically for that purpose.

However, the Legion (the guild that came about through this thread) gets dungeon groups together all the time. People are almost always patient and willing to explain the different dungeons. Just be sure to tell people you’re new to that path so they know to explain as you go!

yeah thats understandable rl keeps me busy at time too since I work part time on the weekends and right now having is kitten ues so my dl of yesterdays patch or whatever is taking forever speaking of which anyone know h ow big that was? if not no biggie but if i keep dc’ing while patching I dont know that it will finish until they get stuff fixed with the connection

Ok thanks for the info my connection is so messed up right now that its running at like 6kb’s per second and keeps dc’ing evry 3 mins or so. Started playing this game during beta and launch with some other friends as well as a guild of 60+ people from previous games, all of whom quit within a month, while I spent the first two months rolling and rerolling new characters trying to find the right profession to main. After the dust cleared I had no one left to play with and having played with the same guild and group of people in different games for the past 10 years (I am a stickler for guild loyalty) I had little interest or even knowledge in finding a new group of people to play with. So, like many others, I stopped playing the game shortly after I hit 80, without even finishing the personal story or bothering to run more than a couple story mode dungeons.

Well, I’ve been back about a week and I decided to hell with everyone that quit, I want to play this game and I want to make new friends, even if I have forgotten how.

Welcome Mystic! One of the great things about guilds in GW2 is that you can maintain membership in up to 5 guilds while only choosing to represent (participate in guild chat) one of them. So if friends from your original guild aren’t on, you are welcome to represent the Legion and take part in our guild chat and see what everyone’s up to. If your friends are on, you can hop back to that guild without completely leaving the Legion. And then you can have your own personal storage guild banks that you don’t share with anyone.

Additional Comments: Had a lot of fun soloing for a while but started getting a bit lonely the past couple weeks. This is still my first character, so generally my playstyle is to take my time and explore a lot (map completion is my favorite thing about the game so far). Definitely not in any rush to get anywhere; just having fun and enjoying the sights of Tyria is what I like best. Oh yes, and even though I’m level 35, I still feel like a super newbie. While you both are a little too young (low-level) to be running around with us in Orr tonight, we are having a Story Dungeon weekend this coming weekend! You only need to be level 30 to participate in the first available dungeon (Ascalonian Catacombs), and many of us are happy to explain the dungeon along the way.

We will also have a number of Guild Missions going on this weekend – the full schedule is in the guild’s Message of the Day in-game. Quickly look at it – we often can get members involved starting at level 40!

We will also have our weekly roleplaying event on Tarnished Coast on Sunday at 17:00 UTC/10:00PDT.

I’ve been playing about two months on and off. Really enjoyed the game initially as starter zones are always packed but was seeing less and less people as I progressed through the mid level zones. Dynamic events were the most interesting aspect of levelling to me but I ended up having to ignore most of them as the further up you go, the less possible it seems to solo them. My first character just hit 80, the last 30 or so levels having been achieved almost exclusively by hopping from one world boss event to the next. My world completion stands at a pathetic 35%, and I haven’t been inside a single dungeon.

I’m a chronic altaholic and I’m already working on my second character, with four more waiting in the wings. My primary goal right now is to earn enough gold to buy character slots for the two professions I’m missing.

I’d love to find some other newbie (or patient veteran) players with whom to explore the world, dungeons and generally experience everything GW2 PvE has to offer. This guild sounds like just the ticket!

Ive been tyrying to find some EU players since ive finished uni for a bit and come back to gaming! Ive had a fair bit of experience in dungeons though im not sure what some of them are like since theyve patched dungeons a few times over since i last played.

As Snowhound mentioned, there are some definite attempts going on to gather the EU players together more. Also look for Noppy around guild chat, who has also been trying to collect EU players together for groups.

I’ve stumbled across a link to this place in a lets-do-a-particular-not-common-dungeon-without-pressure thread, as well as seeing several call for map exploration threads, so I wanted to check out this community project. Looks like you have a great thing going here guys.
One doesn’t find that many ppl willing to go about simple PvE exploration for the heck of it. I’m after the world completion (no rush though), but that can get quite boring sometimes as middle-lvl maps aren’t very densely populated. At least not on my server (medium).
So if anyone based on any EU server wants to do some map-roaming, please let me know.

I have a question, though. Is it necessary to become a LoH guild member for the project? I ask because I’m already in a guild, one that I’m very fond of. We’re quite small, hence not enough ppl for me to jolly around the world for simple PvE exploration, but I’d still like to keep representing them as this is my only guild since day 1 and it was also founded by RL friends.

That’s great to hear. Usually these cool community ideas are always centered on NA servers.

It is easier to get in contact with you in-game if you accept an invitation to the LoH. But that does not mean you have to leave your current guild at all! In GW2, you can be a member of up to 5 guilds with the ability to represent only 1. So what you could do is accept an invite to LoH but not rep it – that way, Noppy, Snowhound, and other EU LoH members could see your online status and invite you to play with them via tells.

Interested Activities: I’m interested in trying plenty of different things. I’ve been playing for around two months, so it’s all quite new. I’m slowly working on world exploration, and making all my characters look dashing and well-dressed. I have a ways to go on both. <g>

Active: Sometimes during the day M-F; most evenings as well. (I’m in the US – Eastern time zone.)

Additional Comments: I was drawn to this game because I heard good things about the community, and also because the game’s design encourages more positive interactions between people than in other MMOs. So far, I’ve been pretty happy with what I’ve seen. I’m a former WoW player and (burned-out) raider, and, while I enjoyed playing the game, the rudeness (and sometimes out-and-out nastiness) of that community was what finally made me call it quits.

I’m rather quiet, but I’m friendly, and more than happy to help others if I can.
WoW made me gun-shy about people online, and I’m trying to relax again and just enjoy myself. I usually only play with my husband, but I’d love to try out all of the different aspects of GW2, including dungeons and PvP. I’m just looking for nice, laid-back people to explore Tyria with, with no pressure, and hopefully plenty of fun. And dashing clothes for the boys. Did I mention that?
