So….. now we can camp trebuchets….

2 week after balance patch.
2 week of non season with new balance, hotfix if something is broken.
2 months of season and no balance midseason.

that… doesn’t make any sense. for what reason do you want to stay on the same patch after season end, waste 2 weeks that could be used for further balacing, for a total of 4 instead of 2… that’s not how you balance an “esport” game.
The game needs faster balance updates, 4-5 balance updates a year is unacceptable imo.

Nah we don’t need more balance updates we need better ones.
I would trade the last five updates for a single update that actually returned some skill to the game and actually addressed the bullkitten passives and other get-out-of-jail free crap.
Don’t forget there should be survey about ranked queue, anet said they will ask us about that after season 5. Imo 2 weeks is impossible.

Its probably something in middle, or closer to 1st.
The bad thing is they proly need too much meetings and aprovals for a high tier pvp annoyance, and theyre short on manpower to do anything that isnt a number tweak.

Yeah I mean I got that, it just looks off aesthetically. In other words, I find the way they remodeled the most odd.
Players who reconnect to a match and achieve victory will no longer receive a desertion game result.
Lowered the default/starting rating deviation.
There is now a minimum game requirement for the league leaderboard that is separate from placement games. This minimum threshold increases over the duration of the season.
These are my favourite changes.

lmao no vaible builds? u sure my lad? i think a build can only be as viable as the skill of it’s user. how else would I have no problem theorycrafting op builds for the past 5 years

The patch removes most of the impediments to field of fire on Khylo. This is a huge buff to DH, ranger , engi.
It also pretty strongly kittens Mesmers. Now I have no shelter from ranger rf, dh pull… and it removes my primary mobility advantage.
I can’t help feeling that Mesmers and thieves are being targeted hard.
I don’t even mind the frequency of updates as much as the fact that when it does finally come it’s about 1/10th the size that it should be and only is focused on preserving the status quo with very minor tweaks.
Totally forgotten are poor/unused/underused traits, skills, entire weapons, and of course utilities and elites. Also no reasonable attempt to balance unused/underused traitlines to improve build diversity either.
Of course I would definitely far prefer frequent small patches that tweak numbers here and there, just as they claimed they can now do since they can now do PvP only adjustments. I think it’s silly to ignore balance issues during the season for some totally misguided principle of some kind. You force people to suffer through the stupidity of what DH and Warriors currently are, while day after day more people flock to these FotM professions/builds because they’re too frustrated to play what they really would like to play. (Can’t beat’em, join’em!)
That right there is a fun killer….kill the fun, kill the game.
I personally can only say that the focus on esports has almost entirely killed my desire to play this game. It’s no longer about fun at all, I’m pressured from all sides to play not what I want to play, but what is very narrowly defined to be optimal at the moment.
Worst of all, I strongly feel that plain random matchups had more quality to them then this fancy matchmaking system that continually sets up loaded matches that are completely unwinnable for one of the two teams. Now you had this before matchmaking too, but it was IMHO far more rare then it is now. Also, back then you had team Qs, so without any attempt to matchmake and only a 100% random matchmaking system and no teams allowed, I think you would get a better distribution of FUN matches then you get now.
Just my 2 cents…I’m not at all satisfied with where this game has gone, and yes the slow patch cycles and poor balancing philosophy is definitely part of that frustration.
