People are actually leaving GW2 PvP
i log in only to do daily gathering in home instance, team practice once a week and maybe tourney (if we signed up for it)…. do not enjoy the fact that i have to rely on my enemy to be complete idiot to be able to fight them
i used to pvp a lot, not anymore…. this patch actually forced me into SA/vamp runes and play like decapping/stealth pet…. i do not enjoy it but it is necessary evil, it doesn’t make this game any fun for me atm tho~

I quit pvping for a mix of reasons.
- Balance is wonky.
- Damage is too high.
- Classes are becoming watered down, losing definition.
- Still no 2v2 and 3v3.****
It’s a great game, just getting boring without the highly demanded arena, and needs a lot of work after the last shake up. Still have hope though…

If they think that Now GW2 is unbalanced, why don’t they left before, when ele and engi will be able to win in 1vs3?
Yes, ele’s burn (guardian’s can’t stack burn so frequently out of the befgin of the battle and they can’t stack 20 might by itself, making burn deal really high damage) and mesmers are actually a little OP.
But all the other classes seems to be balanced, I’ve see fights really balanced.
And there will always be a “OP” class.
If ANet tone down a little (just a little) the damage and the hide duration of mesmers and reduce a little the ability of the ele to auto-stack might and the number of burn stacks that they’re skills and traits apply (why they have too many traits and skills to applyburn in active and passive ways and that recharge too fast) everything will be ok.
I think that actually is the more balanced and funny sPvP I’ve ever played on GW2.
It’s just you OP. This meta is much better than the meta of bunkers/shoutbow poking each other on point. People actually die in this meta 1v2. The fast pace gameplay (and Vigor need) bring risk to random dodge and reward good timing.
I have seen a lot of people who used to only press a few buttons on their classes complain because the skip ceiling has been raised and they can’t keep up with the fast pace gameplay.
Counter point: I also see plenty of my pure WvW friends join pvp. They didn’t join PvP before because they thought PvP was just a bunch of bunkers/bruisers Cele, which was true.

I’m a little jaded at the moment but for a different reason – because I main mesmer and I hate being the target of general community anger even though I am currently playing a build that is below average and uses none of the “overpowered” or hated traits and skills (PU, CS, MoD, BD…) – and even then people moan at you in chat about stupid things when they have no clue about the traits or skills you’re using.
I just log in for pvp dailies at the moment – I refuse to accept any guilt pressure that other players may put on me for being a mesmer.

However, right now it seems devs are too busy with the extension, HoT and neglecting the balancing of the existing professions. They promised us that things will be modified but can we really say that they have been doing a good job on that?

People have been leaving PvP since the beginning. And its not because of one single class, its because there is a lack of “balancing” that has continued to plague the game.
When there are little to no balance changes, the gameplay becomes stale and boring, no matter what profession is “meta”.

There are two camps of people raging at the moment:
- Mesmer burst is too high, very hard to see from Stealth/Blink. I can sympathize with this camp, although I don’t fully agree with them.
- Ele burning is too high. What’s funny is that Ele Ring of Fire apply no burning on cast. You must manually walk in and out it multiple times to get 12 stacks for 3k burning. I don’t sympathize with this group.

It is not just the burning, its the burning, plus the might stacking, plus the survivability. Half the classes in this game are melee you simply do not have the option not to walk into those skills. And even if you dont, it is not like you are going to out last them. Hence OP.

- +1 , this balance actually rewards ppl with good positionement, punish mistake (like ppl who overextend), force more team plays, etc.
I really dont mind mesmer burst I think it is good that way..
I think that what needs to be rework is the ICD between Mantra (when its channeled), only because it is hard to see coming cause of the instant cast and easy access cause of the low ICD ..

I didn’t notice your friends leave. It’s not odd that you noticed them leave, though.
In my opinion many people leave, others will take their place. This is how gaming industry works. People don’t like to play the same thing over and over again. If the game no longer offers something new to their loved profession, then they leave and try something new in other games, if possible similar with their play style in past games.
What a person likes and dislikes remain constant, but toys and games change according to what he/she likes or dislikes. To keep a person inside your product for many years, one must always bring something new to what that person likes (profession, race, range/malee, healer/dps/support/bunker, condition/aoe/target, and so on).
In my opinion games change, but what each person likes remains the same, and that is why each person has a favorite profession or favorite character. When a person is tired of his/her main (liked) character, they leave GuildWars2. It’s simple as that.

I’ve pretty much quit other than dailies (may give up on that soon too). A friend of mine completely quit until a balance patch comes out, and I wouldn’t be surprised if a few others joined us.
The game is in a terrible state right now. Mesmers and Eles are completely ruining it. But even once they’re fixed, there are still many issues left to resolve e.g. passive sigil proc damage, lack of needed stat customization, etc. The severe lack of communication about balance from ANet doesn’t help things.

cele eles have been dominant for about a year now. their position was briefly threatened by shoutbows a couple months before huge patch. thanks to burning buff, well synergized traits and general nerf to warrior build diversity, eles have again secured their dominance

I play power Necro and think that if the is all it takes for people to leave PvP, the were likely just farming rank pts anyway. Good power Necro has a great ability to keep there ‘op classes’ in check. Try making friends with one. They’re also threatened by massive amounts of boon corruption/condi transfer, nearly permanate poison/weakness/chill uptime and syphon that ignores defense.

rangers need a lot of work, at this point moreso than any other prof except maybe necro. but there are a few strong builds. I have about 70-75% winrate with my particular build soloq, so im not crying in a corner or anything. id like to see more improvements though.
what gets me though is that ANet 1) just isn’t delivering timely balance changes and 2) theyre always delivering a half-finished product. they never have and they never will deliver timely balance changes. they need help, yet they don’t want to give us a PTR.
the most interesting game with a team dedicated to pvp and its balancing is Overwatch. the minute I get into beta, im gone.

It is ok to shake things up every now an then with HUGE balance changes (like the specialization change was), but you then have to respond frequently in the following weeks with tweaks and adjustments so things don’t get out of control. They even recognized less than 24 hours after patch that some things were too strong (why didn’t they have internal testers to find out this stuff anyway), and yet STILL haven’t done any number adjustments.
Their past history shows they will continue to neglect balance for another 6-months to a year, which is pathetic given the current state of the game. They don’t even need to apply super-elegant solutions, they could literally just adjust some numbers and improve the game a LOT.
I think the biggest reason for people leaving is being locked in the mist.
Anet has the entire team focused on HoT
I hope at least after Wts They can fix quickly broken stuff we have now.
Not really hyped if i think we will stay with this broken meta for 6 months

- no leaderboard
- no seasons
- broken meta
- stuck in the Mist while queuing.

How long has the immobilize bug been around? I think ever since they buffed immobilize to 5 stacks. So like, a year and a half the bug is STILL here.
Although I do like these changes and love the new trait system and how everything is so fast, however, ArenaNet made some unbelievably toxic and stupid decisions that still plague the game to this day.
GW2 PvP will forever be an esport joke, what kind of sport allows game breaking bugs? “Oh, Charlie kicked the soccer ball into the score board! That means The Rapids soccer team wins!! That’s right because… It just does!!”
If Riot catches a player abusing an exploit in a tournament the team gets banned, in ArenaNets eyes, “That’s just okay!” It seriously sickened me that the Signet of Restoration healing exploit was used in a tournament.
ArenaNet needs to look at Esports as a kittening SPORT and not a GIMMICK.

As an elementalist, I just want to point out that as long as elementalists and mesmers will be able to outperform in almost every aspect thief, engi, ranger, necro and (upon a certain degree) warriors, I can totally understand people leaving.
Those classes I listed above (thief, ranger, engi, necro, warrior) are totally viable and can work in a team-oriented pvp. Stealth, AoE Moan, Necro corrupt and Rampage are unique features that only those classes can provide and are insanely amazing when properly used in a well-coordinated environment.
But of course, why should you bother to SOLOqueue with one of the the above when you could do far better with mesmer or elementalist without needing coordination? Why should you train with your friends when you could just go ele or mesmer?

I have to agree with this. I don’t mind terribly sitting in the mists for a couple minutes (3-15), but any friends I’ve tried to get into this game can’t stand it. It seems terribly lame. Allow people to continue to play the game during queue. (especially those who think playing for an hour is long; to them, 15 minutes is a giant waste of time)

I think that the balance is not terrible, except for some slight reduction in condition damage overall (~5%), and another 10% reduction in burning damage. Then Mesmers need to be toned down some. I think a slight decrease in stealth uptime, a decent decrease in burst (~20%), and maybe a slight tweak to how their stun mantra behaves with traits. I’m not super familiar with mesmer since the changes, but I fight them pretty fairly myself. I do find that it is sad to watch my teamates get destroyed in less than a second. While Mesmer’s don’t feel like they are overly overpowered, their style of damage pushes newer players out of the game. So lower their burst by a decent amount and try and give them some better sustain. (without stealth) Conditions feel a little too strong, another way to help with this is improve players self-condition cleansing. Just add some condition cleanse to underused skills.
I don’t think anyone can really argue that the pvp community in GW2 has shrunk drastically and I think it really just comes back to complete lack of faster balance iteration something that they actually promised recently they’ve constantly told us that it’s separate teams working on the live game and expansion yet all of a sudden there is no one to spare for live everyone is focused on expansion. I find this particularly disconcerting considering the trait system revamp and then no follow up to all the completely broken nonfunctioning traits/bugs it left behind.
At this point i’m really not sure how to interpret all of that. ¯\(-.-)/¯

I just put up my coat when a dev said that HoT is taking priority over fixing bugs on rangers. This game isnt worth it and I could care less for HoT.
