I wonder what the reaction of players would be if one of the gifts required for legendaries could only be acquired through serious PvP play :P
If Anet wants to attach a choice of a gift to every x00 ranks than I would be very happy. It would take a long time for me to get it, but at least I wouldn’t have to pve for it.
edit: think i read that wrong in which case pve players would wig out.

From what I understood the advantage pve players will have is more gold, because the way the wardrobe will work pvp players will actually have more skins unlocked than pve players.
So if they increase the gold rewards on spvp and dont flood these new runes + sigils right at the start , I think we can get the gold needed for them just like the rest.
I am glad they are making changes but I feel they should put a bigger emphasis on rewarding players more pvp specific rewards. Even with all these changes legendaries wont mean anything if you can just bring them in from pve. 8 months I have been waiting for anet to get the pvp system down this is disappointing.

Edit: can we maybe gett a gift of exploration by doing the 5 maps in pve, and all 5 region tracks once? And do we get achievement points? That would also give us badge of honor required for the gift of battle.

So will new achievements be added to PvP? Seeing as it sounds like I’m going to have a significant number of them maxed out, I hope there will be.
I just don’t really get one thing.. We need the map gift for a PvP legendary.. This is the biggest deal for me, to be honest.. They force us to do the most PvE for something that I want in PvE.. I mean.. Just make some PvP gift?
The tables should be turned. To get a legendary you need to reach max PvP rank aka r55 in today’s value.
Let’s see how the PvE’ers like to be forced to do content they don’t like.

I would love this to happen, i’m not even r55, but it always makes me cringe whenever some idiot whose horrible at the game has a legendary because lawlz zergfest… At least if they got to r55 they’d have to have SOME sort of skill….

- Can you use PvP skins for PvE? I hope so.
- Do you have to buy basic weapons/armor everytime you change your look in PvP?
- Can you only change your appearance when you have (expensive gem bought) transmutation stones?

1: Yes.
2: Nope, skins can be applied to any weapon/armor.
3: You do need to have transmutations charges in order to change a skin yes. These are however obtainable for free in sPvP and quite possible also in PvE.

Some maths for errbody:
For a new player to get from 1->80 with the new numbers:
Fastest: 729 team arena wins with full time rewards.
Slowest: 5467 custom arena losses with full time rewards.
So lets assume a 50% win rate, which is approximately what matchmaking gives most of us. Someone might want to check my math, but it seems right:
If you only play TPvP @ 50% win rate you need to play 1094 matches.
If you only play hotjoin @ 50% win rate you need to play 3124 matches
It IS a lot of matches, but do you guys feel that it’s enough, after seeing the numbers?

Which means someone who plays a paltry 1 hour tPvP per day will get the very highest rank within 6 months.
Someone who plays 6 hours a day will get Dragon starting from a brand new account in just one month.
It just went from being an object of prestige and skill (atleast that is what it was supposed to embody, judging by GW1) to just another carrot from a achievement checklist.

I went around and asked my PvE guild, the most common complaint with PvP was that they lost all of their armor when they went into the mists and lack of rewards. They felt all of their time is wasted because the only thing they are progressing into is rank, which is impossible to complete because of ridiculous grind.
Interestingly enough, this is what this patch is going to fix.

This makes me a little mad tbh, I’ve got 639 teamq wins and 179 soloq wins, but I am still over 400 wins away from Dragon, ~150 from shark. I actually have a reason to do pvp again though so it’s not that big a deal.

Sorry for upping this thread but i’ve seen a problem brought up by several players and it hasn’t been answered yet.
Before the previous patch you told us to use all the glory we had because it was going to be turned off, now you’re telling us to craft all the stuff we want because pvp mats are going away; how are we supposed to get the components we need if we are at 0 glory left?
I know for sure that a lot of players have stocks of arcane powder, orbs, crystals and rank tokens but surely they lack item tokens that are the last component needed in the forge and u never get the chance to have a stock since u generally buy them for glory when u need to craft something specific.
Could you allow us to buy item tokens for silver just as we can do with pvp salvage kits so we can use at least a part of our pvp mats without it going to waste?
The assumption was that you were going to spend the glory crafting equipment (when they said to spend the glory, they also said to fill out your lockers) and then the excess you had (or earned) would go to the new glory vendors.
The note on crafting right now are only for those that didn’t pay attention before and still have their glory and materials.

i’m still getting slivers, crystals from dailies/monthly, what am i supposed to do with those? moreover they hinted at using mats even earlier but they didn’t explicitly say they were disappearing while they made clear glory would be turned off…
with no tracks yet, no glory, useless rewards from achievements it feels a bit unrewarding to play spvp until april 15th

There will be no more pvp crafting come april 15th, all those mats will also be deleted.

If you knew glory was going to be removed, what else were you using it for? If you figured that you’d still have some way of getting the armor skins later, well, you still do. Just not through glory and the existing crafting system. Wait until after the next patch for those methods.
Yes, it’s currently very unrewarding to play sPvP. All that’s left is the fun you can have by playing it anyway and the promise of a better future.
The materials still dropping is useful for those who still have glory left.
