If your argument is “Learn to position / stability” ….. I counter with " 1 mistake should not be instant death". It’s not fun.
- Stab needs to be timed. Stealth pull means your pull will come out of nowhere = you cant counter it with stab. And stab typically has a longer CD than my pushes and pulls.
- Positioning is irrelevant on sidepoints. I can pull ppl from ledges aswell … and if they los ill wait or pull from the other side. Or wombocombo it with a pull in to a knockback.

Its soooo easy close to uncounterable and works on the best players.

@mooty try getting this map 3x in a row 4v5. It’s not fun. I play guard on this map for the banish Lols but I got to say playing 4v5 all the time on this map takes all the fun out for both sides. It wasn’t nearly as bad before as it is now. It has gone past the point of ridiculousness where one can expect that atleast one person will drop out. For that reason alone this map should be removed from solo q rotation.
Want to add that I don’t “hate” the map. It makes me laugh a lot. But I do hate playing in a 4v5 even if I am the one on a full team.4v5 is a reality of sPvP, particularly hot join… it can happen on any map. It’s annoying but the solution to that (should it be completely unacceptable to you) is always to play with people you can count on.
My solution for that problem would be to autobalance that extra person to the losing team. So the losing team will have 5, and the winning team 4. Balances it out a little bit better when the teams are not even.
How can they possibly try to call this esports (LOL) even with those 50k dollars tournaments with devs acting like this…never giving kitten to player’s feedbacks…

Hah! You mean its about players who lack individual skill taking shortcuts and one shotting ppl who are far beyond their skilllevel.
Look at me for example. I posted multiple pictures and vods in this very thread showing how i “dominate” top tier competition on this map.
Not because im good …. but purely because my main class allows me to use uncounterable one shots.
You might find this fun since youre lazy and dont want to improve….but i dont. It doesnt reflect personal skill AT ALL and its really bad for the game as a whole.

Skyhammer is the best map in my opinion. It is the only map that does not promote bunker builds and brings that certain “WTF” factor towards pvp. =)

It’s only on 1 map out of 6 however, whereas the mentionned builds( i.e combinaisons of hambows and engineers) are able to win rather easily other maps in soloQ( even on skyhammer actually…).
My opinion of skyhammer has changed.
After 1v1ing a Necromancer in the cannon room and beating her after 6 attempts to fear me off of the cliff, I now play Skyhammer for the sole purpose of disappointing people with CC in the Hammer room.

Not that hard to move out of the cannon lazer’s radius. If you are fighting for the cap that long to be hit by it then you are playing it wrong.

LOL! I surely don’t play Skyhammer nor Arenas. Its nice idea to do so as well for boycott… except these noobs that bought game recently, they will play it without any idea what is it.

I usually pray to not get this map, but I think it’s a cool idea. Just way too build specific, might as well recommend you a few builds to pick before going in.

I still enjoy Skyhammer. Probably my favorite map. I love the complexity of the jump pads and the multi-tiered design, and the fourth control point you need to focus on.
There are only a few key things that I feel need to be changed for it to be viable in a competative scenario. Mainly changes to remove the stealth pull and fear instant deaths, as that is the main problem people have with Skyhammer. The one sided nature of fights with builds that have access to these strategies.
1. Walking over glass panels won’t cause them to break if you are in stealth. Conceptually this makes sense as you’d be stepping lighter as you sneak around, and mechanically this would stop players from standing on the glass while invisible to break them to set up a stealth pull without the intended victim noticing it in team fights. Lets be honest here, almost no one can hear the glass break if you’re fighting with all those animations and sound effects ringing.
2. Make the glass panels take a few more seconds before they break. This will stop fear from ensuring an instant victory on points A and C, and will be a bit more lenient with dodge mistakes. It won’t remove the possibility of a fall death of course, but it’ll make it harder to set up. Either the glass has to have been broken previously or the player who intends to use that tactic will have to break the glass panels mid-battle by standing on them, which would be an obvious telegraph of their intent and be quite risky. The only other way to ensure a fall kill would be to first crowd control an enemy player onto the glass panel and then hit said player with a couple stuns or an immobilize, which itself is a pretty big use of resources and offers multiple chances to ruin the whole plot with a stunbreaker.
3. Make it so fall damage doesn’t count as a kill on the scoreboard. Tactics like this are valid forms of dispatching an opponent, but it’s not a clean kill and should be more of a way of avoiding a long, drawn out battle rather than a quick victory and free points. A backstab thief, upon approaching an elementalist, should weigh in which method would be preferable. If the thief feels they can quickly take down the ele with their normal tactics that should absolutely be preferable from pulling a “Cheap” win to save time and remove risk of a counter attack.
With these changes the instant kill fall damage wins will be much harder to pull off and less rewarding overall, making them less prominent on the map overall and most importantly, more easily countered.
The rest of the complaints are geared toward the Skyhammer. Personally, I like the Skyhammer as is. My main issue with Skyhammer is how easy it is to defend with only a single player in the room, but the bulk of this issue is brought down by the above fixes as a lone terrormancer won’t be able to effectively exploit the glass panels for easy wins anymore. Not to mention that unless you bring an extra bunker to the map you’re either leaving a point undefended that you’d usually want to protect or you control the Skyhammer, not both. Personally, I’ve been in games where the team controlling the Skyhammer lost because they invested too much in it’s defense. It’s a game of choices, and forces players to rethink their strategy.

That said, the map is fun to play when your ranking isn’t on the line..and you like to get a few laughs as you watch a guardian leap in a hole :P

You people are insane. How can you not like skyhammer. It forces people to change the way they play conquest. Conquest itself is based on pretty boring principles.
I know what you are thinking… but but i like point control defense playstyle. So do i.. in first person shooters..
It takes 0 skill to play bunker builds of any type. Yet this playstyle is encouraged from the standard conquest maps. Skyhammer is the only exception to that rule. Skyhammer is not just a battle of 0 skill bunker players. It is a battle of wits. Its player vs player vs surroundings, it forces to constantly evaluate whats going on around them and react. What is not to like?.. unless you enjoy cheesin it up with your bunker style play.
Rather than posting your QQ I hate skyhammer comments. Try explaining your point of perception and viewpoints.
Alright, cross on my heart, I promis I’ll never queue SoloQ anymore. Better to get steamrolled by premades in TeamQ than play again that map against 4 engineers.

Maybe because 99% of the skyhammer hate posts they receive fail to elaborate reasons of why they feel the way they do. To be honest it just all seems like rage QQ threads.

I just had a Guardian repeatedly exploit the glass near one of the points for the entire match, just knocking people into them and breaking them. Heck, I even died WITHOUT falling on top of unshattered glass! Worst part is, they had the audacity to say GG.
Remove the glass, laser cannon and jump pads, and put barriers around the edges. Then Skyhammer will be a map that doesn’t invoke extreme rage.

I like the jumpads. It adds an extra dimension to the game. It’s also part of what makes Skyhammer one of the rare maps where not playing full melee gives a considerable enough advantage to compensate for the naturally lower damage.
