I think the general consensus is that skyhammer is bad. Not sure the point of this post though. The reality though is that only one vote counts here and ANET still likes the map. In fact, they designed the new WvW Edge of the Mists map with a lot of the same principles in mind.

Doesn’t matter when classes have pull or fear abilities. When fighting on A or C point (or skyhammer room) you can basically get pulled/feared into glass or off the edge no matter how careful you are about positioning.
I can be on my engineer, notice an enemy bunker doing fairly well to hold the point, and while he’s busy fighting I simply have to pull out toolkit and magnet him into broken glass. 9/10 times it results in a kill unless he gets lucky with a dodge/block.
Skyhammer favors some classes/builds FAR more than others and that is dumb, the map should never have such a huge impact on how well your class/build performs.
Borrowing someone else’s suggestion, there needs to be a second level under the map on which your character “falls” and has to spend time running around and getting back up.
Pulling/knocking people off the map should only mean temporarily removing them from the fight (making them run back), NOT outright killing them and getting instantly awarded for it with extra points.
Until such a thing is implemented, Skyhammer needs to be removed from both Solo Queue and made hotjoin-only. I would be happy to play Skyhammer in hotjoin just to troll people with CC builds, but please not in TPvP where I actually care about winning.

^ This. If you ever done solo q. All I ever see are engineers doing toolkit pulls and instant win when you’re fighting. With the god awful camera and close walls that is point A+C if ur not looking in his direction you’re not going to see it coming. I’ve ran immolobizing venom+wire and its just an I win button. There is no skill in any of this, you either get a lucky dodge or hope the guy fks up.

Hey, I admit the thing must be awfully amusing on the giving end, and I even chuckled myself a few times while watching the above video.
The distance of knockbacks is just stupid though, haha. It is, without a shred of doubt, the ultimate map for trolling.

However, in Skyhammer they are ven more important, as you not only can get pushed from the point, you also can get pushed into you death.
In Addition, you also have basicly a “4th capture point” aka the canon.
So knockbacks, aoes and the other stuff nobody likes become more important, again.
The next question is: Are there actual “Skyhammer builds”?
To be honest, I haven’t done researches about this, but as far as I think, Maybe some classes might change a weapon or a utlity skill, but not their build.
But in the end, skyhammer and the hole knockback etc. stuff make some of the meta builds even stronger as they already are (on other maps), while making other professions even worse.
Skyhammer is great. If you do not like it, doesn’t mean nobody likes it.

Skyhammer is a desaster for SoloQ. I don’t know who created such a Map with PvP and Competition in mind. I would change my Job-Role and join the WvW or PvE Development.

The issue is that skyhammer is the only map that comes in solo Q all time.
It1s like all other maps has been removed and remained only skyhammer, this is boring a lot.

they won’t remove them because the map team thinks they are brilliant maps (remember the dev post about skyhammer? all the hype about the awesome fun map they made?), and their ego is too much for them to step down from their pedestal and be humble enough to remove the maps.
But they are frickin awful maps, every time i get one of those i wish i hadn’t queued in the first place.
they have all skyhammer threads on /ignore cause they dont have the balls to go to their bosses again and say “Hey the last thing we did in spvp was crap again and people dont like it”

Keep Spirit Watch. I don’t care about Skyhammer.
Give Temple more prioroty. Should be more often than other maps. Best map in the game. Favours strategy because the buffs can turn around a lot even if the individual 1 vs. 1 player fighting skills are not that strong. And since it is a team game I like it if strategy is important and such things are possible.
Even though you may think that this poll is representative, it isn’t.
You just have to think about who is actually reading the forums and in addition to that such threads. First of all you need to be a PvP-Player, which excludes most of gw2s population. Plus everyone playing tPvP happily won’t really read this kind of thread, since it is very likely to contain flame, which would just ruin the mood. Hence you have a rather high percentage of unhappy people, who have run out of walls to scream at.
Moreover, consider this: The map diversity is rather low to start with. If the map pool was reduced by two more maps, it would just end up horrible.
At the end of the day: Learn to play those maps and quit flaming.

I have been a software developer for roughly 7 years, and I know how it goes. When someone in a company introduces a feature he thinks is great, and his co-workers say is great, but then is disliked by the customer, bad things usually happen.
As a dev, it hurts when what you and others think is great is thought as terrible by the customer, but a good dev will swallow his pride and either remove or improve the bad feature. But if the dev has an ego, it almost always gets ugly, just like the skyhammer map is for GW2.

I like spirit watch to be honest. But I think the game could use a blacklisting feature like WoW has. In WoW, it let you blacklist up to two maps when you queued for a match and those two would never come up. The trade off was the queue would be longer outside of prime playing times if you chose to blacklist certain maps.
Because of the population, maybe only let us blacklist one? Then the people who like skyhammer will have a chance for it to pop up in their queues but people who really dislike the map will have a way to avoid it (at the cost of a longer queue for JUST THAT PERSON). That way, if you don’t blacklist skyhammer you will benefit by having faster queue times. Or, everyone will blacklist skyhammer and the map rarely ever will pop up. Either way, win-win.
I suggest this because I realize anet doesn’t want to just drop skyhammer like raid on the Capricorn. IMO they should make changes to both skyhammer and raid on the Capricorn to make them viable tpvp maps….but apparently they can’t figure out how to lol.
Skyhammer make the cannon DODGEABLE!!!!! Seriously how long is this gonna take?
And raid on the Capricorn reduce a lot of the water like they did on temple of silent storm and put the UW capture point on the boat and move the boat a bit. Make the sharks more powerful and make the ruins a secondary objective which captures the sharks. If you get knocked off the ship into the water the sharks deal like 2k damage per second to you. Just an idea…

It’s not that I lose Skyhammer, it’s just a kitten map. Its’ boring to shatter and pull.
But I noticed a lot of top players took your advice and quit; hopefully that satisfies you.
At first I thought you finally came up with a real point, then I realized that the number of quitting top players because of skyhammer is pretty much zero.
If you find an aspect boring, well poor you. Not everyone can be satisfied.
It’s rather obvious we won’t persuade each other to change opinions; all that is about to happen is flame.

… I kinda like Spirit Watch… :/ not as much as LotF or Kyhlo or whatever, but I don’t think it should be removed.

The fact that that Skyhammer got taken out of Team Queue is proof that ArenaNet knows how dumb it is. It’s not up to opinion.
The only reason Skyhammer is still in Solo Queue is because ArenaNet is trolling solo players. No seriously, that is the only explanation that I can think of. Nothing else comes to mind.
I actually don’t mind Skyhammer, it’s a fun map for trolling and offers something different….but it needs to be hotjoin-only.
It has NO PLACE in tournaments, and again, it’s not me saying this, it’s ArenaNet who already admitted this when they took it out of Team Queue.

I don’t see the problem with the map. A skilled player is aware of that possibility and minimizes that happening. It’s no different than a skilled player messing up timing or a rotation and losing.
It sounds to me like people who think they should be 1337, are mad that they have to think about edge positioning, and are losing because they are doing it poorly.

Unfortunately I have to agree with entropy, and anybody else that understands statistics that understands why this particular survey is biased (doesn’t make any arguments against Skyhammer any less valid though, unless they’re based on these statistics).
That being said, I think that online polls are fun.

I’m sure if they would pop up a message asking ,,Do you want Skyhammer removed? " after playing one the results will be the same ( if not more hatred ).
That’s not usually how it works. Self-selection is biased against the status quo. If you create a poll asking “Should we get rid of Skyhammer?”, the people most motivated to respond will be those who want to get rid of Skyhammer.
Those who are happy with the status quo have no real reason to answer the poll because they already have what they want.
And then there are other methodology issues, including the items on this poll being poorly chosen and prejudicial. If you want a poll to be taken seriously, you should attempt to take a serious poll.
This poll is very poorly made (Overlapping results) but I voted remove skyhammer anyway, because remove skyhammer.

I main an elementalist in pvp and while i do have armor of earth both from traits and from utility skills it does wonders for me not getting knocked off the map but this is not really the issue.
That being said, I keep a staff in my inventory solely for the purpose of zoning into the skyhammer room and blowing the enemy on the controls off the edge or there are other situations where i will equip it just long enough to throw people off the map before changing back to better weapons once combat ends.
The issue is not even the ledges, they are annoying but they cut both ways. The issue is that skyhammer allows a single player far too much influence over all control points at once. As a force multiplier it is simply far too strong. In addition it does extreme damage in a massive area and stuns to boot. The map could be ok if the skyhammer itself were nerfed.
