Man CD i really gotta give you guys props for the endless assault and attempts on bay keep on maguuma BL. You guys sure are dedicated. I believe you guys wiped out trying to take it like 6-8x, and i can’t even remember how long that fight at the supply camp was while we set up siege for greenbriar tower. I won’t say i farmed you guys for badges but man i ended up with around 60 badges in like 4-5hours.
I can decode the numbers in this thread I think:
20 people = 30 man zerg if they beat you in the field or take anything.
30 people = 50 man zerg, and they straight up beat you* because these maps hardly ever have more than 15 people together unless a gate is being attacked. If you have a guild with 15 people and a commander tag up you maybe get 7 pugs with you. Add on another loosely associated 5 man gank squad if you’re lucky and that’s basically as big as the groups get at this tier.
*Not if you’re a full guild group that actually uses some tactics besides “have a lot of people.”
Now, the numbers might be right if by “50 man zerg” people mean “they have 50 people on the map split into several groups that don’t particularly fight together except maybe right as a keep is about to flip.” Being overwhelmed because there are two 20 man groups and a couple of gank squads running around the map I could totally see. That’s really different from what I think when I hear “50 man zerg” though.
**Who knows how many thief duos there are ganking dolyaks and screwing around in the jump puzzle at any given time.
CD’s asian prime time easily numbers 50 though. You guys were on top during that timezone always, even in tier 3. You actually had like 3 or 4 guilds that could field 30+, and sometimes they seem to all appear on one map too ;_; I can see why tier 4 will find that unreasonably strong.

I like this match up, lots of good groups roamin around.. fun fights… I don’t get into the whole seiging thing.. but its pretty easy to find people to kill.

Yeah we noticed how you guys had split forces allowing us to actually come up there and wipe you guys several times, including your sieges, then you guys would show back up in force when we started to wipe your sieges but half your forces already started getting wiped. If EB wasn’t attacking our keep in the east i wonder how things wouldve went, because we had split forces. And yeah our reinforcement came because the east keep fell, we had maybe around 15 at east, 30 on west keep, and 10ish or so running camps.

To make sure there wasnt even the slighest bit of a fight they even built golems… oh and of course they /laugh at the defenders who were silly enough to be there.
7pm EST 50+ CD zerg shows up at ehmry bay borderland against our 30 defenders.. they get farmed for 4 straight hours, unable to barely take supply camps. We wipe every CD group without effort.. over.. and over.. and over..

I’ve seen this. I’ve only seen a large zerg at prime time a few times for CD but it HAS happened. Normally however they field nowhere near this many prime time.

Much as I dislike alot of the things Maguuma I know it doesn’t speak for ALL of Maguuma. Likely it’s just a few big guilds. Of which Goon might or might not be part of. As stated that’s the only name that rang a bell when I tried to remember guild names.
I know nothing of Goon outside it’s poor reputation and assume nothing about them. You can say alot of things about my posts, but please do not put words in my mouth. There is a difference in taking jabs at someone and misrepresenting their opinions. One is your own personal amusement, the other is flat out dishonest.
If anything I agree with you, any problem would not be Goons because there are nowhere near enough of them out there to be pulling off man of the things that are happening. Even a significant fraction of a 20-30 man group isn’t more than 5-10-15 people. (significant FRACTION is not the same thing as majority :P). That is NOTHING compared to the presence of any decent sized WvW guild.

Look at it this way. During our 2 weeks in T3, our off-prime players got crushed by your primetime players. And your primetime lasted way longer than our primetime.

If you “paid attention” to guild tags you’d see a lack of organized guilds doing anything in WvW at the moment, most are farming for tomorrow’s reset.. you guys should try it, i think I’ve seen one superior siege from CD the entire week.. tho I guess you don’t have to worry about that kind of stuff when your big pushes are against empty borderlands.

This is why I ask people to tell me about their experience on Maguuma and what made them hate GOON or assume we’re terrible. It’s always, “oh I heard” or “in another game” and never “this happened in GW2 on Maguuma” But those are just the people I’ve run into so far.

Most likely this is the match up were going to have at reset tomorow again, so try to play nice. Yes winning is all about numbers, sorry strategys and everything don’t win match ups, they win battles. I don’t know anything about CD zerg at 4am, so i won’t say theres 50 of them or so, but if there is 50 of them vs 5-10 of who ever is defending they have no chance, unless they all build and man superior sieges, they might have a chance. Personally from my experience the people in mumble don’t care about winning from my experience, we play for fun, and from the looks of that, we’re doing the best job at it.

I’m familiar with the idea that people generally assume anyone else commenting on their beliefs is being hostile towards them, so whatevs, water under the bridge. But yes, I do have something to prove, because all people tend to know are bad reputations and they place their bias off of that regardless if the reputation has any real standing (again, not saying you). I was just reiterating the fact that all I hear is “well I heard this” instead of personal experiences.
In any other game, I can understand, but GOON has done so much for Maguuma, especially in terms of WvW and the mumble crew. It just gets really tiring to hear people (not you) talking about a reputation from what this other guy said about ten goons from another game five years ago which may not even be true.

“Tiers” are just a result of having a ladder. Being higher up just means you have a higher WvWing population. This is true in any tier, even the top. You guys think CD has overpowering population, guess what that’s what CD thinks of TC when they go to tier 3. That’s also what TC thinks of BG and SoR up there in tier 2. We didn’t beat CD because we are l33t pvpers and CD are terrible, we beat them by generally outnumbering them through the course of the day, and adapting to get better at defending against their own prime time.
If any CD are insinuating that the other servers are “unskilled” they are deluded and should be ignored. Similarly there’s no reason for the losing servers to start justifying their loss by saying they are MORE “skilled” but simply outnumbered – you are already acknowledging that winning or losing in WvW is a function of numbers, so why bring in arbitrary measures of “skill” that can never be proven? All you do is incite flaming.
If people stopped caring so much about which tier they were in and whether they are losing to more populated servers we could all play for fun, because god knows what else WvW offers at the moment.

Are you kitten I sat there and watched him kill guy without him attacking back, and once I was spotted they stopped, then all ganged up on me to make me go away. This isnt the first time I ran into this either.
