I was debating between that or ‘No items. Fox only. Final destination.’ but scenery chewing is too op. Also my event would have to include stuff like ‘walls can be damaged by players and gates take extra damage.’
Make all skills aoe skills for the week, whilst stopping passive regen on warriors and guardians, so they feel what retal is like (we could call it ‘no spam 1 week’).
Make armor mean something week- quadruple armor affects on light and medium armor players.
Noob week- only players under 1500 ranks are allowed to enter wvw.
Clear out week- standing still on the map removes you from the map, which would remove the 20-30 statues existing on SFR most of the time (not counting guild groups waiting to form- maybe they could run in circles or, heaven forbid, flip a camp if it’s not too hard for them whilst waiting to start a raid).
Artherblade week: tons of aetherblade everywhere on the map to karmafarm while Tara Strong screams at you .
Merc week: All mercenary factions (dredge/hylek/ogres) are 5-10x stronger and will patrol the map in groups of 10 or so.
Chat & Burn Week
Make enemy names visible, all servers in a match up share “map” chat.

- OH YEAH! – Siege does no damage to gates or wall, but players can hit walls and do significantly more damage to both.
I would say: no siege can be deployed at all, players do increased damage to gates and can damage walls.
- Dhuum’s Wrath – No downstate.
- KAMIKAZE!!!!! – When a person (and maybe mobs) dies it leaves a Big Ol Bomb behind. The bomb doesn’t effect friendly units of whichever side dropped it.
Put these together for maximum fun
Haunted House – Walls, Gates and other Structures have strong perma-retaliation (anti-PvD basically)
What about: Electrified fences, gates have permanent Shocking Aura.

Put all these together during “NPCs on steroid” week!
Build Mode – When you cap a structure, all destructible walls and gates spawn in as destroyed.
Un-Righteous Indignation – Lords don’t gain RI after a point is capped, but instead have a constant buff that allows them to do the same damage as RI without the invuln.
What about, instead, capping doesn’t fix walls/gates? So if you cap something you need to repair whatever damage you did to get inside. And the lord is not invulnerable so it can be flipped back istantly.
Dolyaks Best Friend Week: Escort and protect Dolyaks on their way to work and earn +2 Points for your world upon successful Escort and Protection. Loosing a Dolyak will cost your world -2 Points.
I really like the idea of “negative points” for NOT defending something.
Corporate take over. – This mode adds the option for guilds to just buy towers and keeps with gold.
This would be hilarious: bribe guards to get through the gates :°D

Quaggan Raids, Hand to Hand skills (punch, leap on your belly, head strike, etc..)
What about re-using some of the original beta weekend finale events?
Critter Hunt – players fight overpowered animals such as racoons, rats, pigs, white rabbits, and black moas to gain server points
Kralkatorrik invades – If a player is killed by one of the branded, they turn into one themselves. Subsequently, characters would receive a set of five skills to use and had their affinity changed to hostile, allowing them to attack unaffected characters. The server with the fewest branded at the end of the week wins.
Replace one of the borderland maps with EotM for a week.
It’d be great to play that map as a WvW map.

A no rally week would be fantastic. Seriously, this is probably the best suggestion made so far.
No rally week sounds really cool. WvW would even be friendlier for uplevels without people calling them rallybots.

I think this would be great. Rally mechanic has always been ‘broken’ in WvW compared to Spvp. You could down 20 enemies and have them all rally off ONE guy. It’s a crutch for large zergs and simply reinforces that playstyle.
Additionally, ‘bad’ / newbie / uplevel players are referred to as ‘rallybots’ and are dissuaded from running with certain guild groups. People get angry, insults fly around. It creates a bad experience and goes against one of the selling points of GW2, which was that you’d always be happy to see another player come help.
I’d say get rid of it for a week and see how it goes.

This is by far the simplest change that could be made to WvW that would have DRASTIC change to how combat is approched in large group context. It would be by far the most entertaining thing to have in WvW.
It follows the principles that Colin Johanson spoke of in the last POI. The idea of putting more emphasis on support roles like TANK Medic or Healing focused roles that ensure the sustain of the group and not just the player himself. It would introduce new combat strategies for commanders and would lessen the hate of NEW PLAYERS that are currently being outcasted, shunned, and labeled “Rally Bots” … It’s by far the best the choice to make the game in WvW healthy and new player friendly again .
+99999999 ,.. please test it out in a month long event and see the community response. This is something that i hope would become base in WvW (as in will still exist forever and not just in a month long event)

As an organized guild fighting bigger groups in WvW, there’s nothing worse than a single death rallying 5+ (sometimes even 10 or more) people…
We feel like having a cap on the number of people that can rally from a single death in WvW would be nice in general not only for a single week, but an event to test it out could be interesting.
It could be something as harsh as “an eye for an eye” – one rally per death, maybe dictated by who did the most damage on the target? – or a more balanced 3 or even 5 rally per death/per server (to not give an unfair advantage in 3-way fights).
Another somewhat-related problem is that when the enemy group is big enough, they can have some people hard-ress defeated players while the fight is still going on, but that’s probably trickier to fix.

If you all have the ability to do this it would be a great test for a month long test. (Imo it would be great to disable it permanently).
As others have mentioned it causes all kinds of problems in WvW.
Golem idea is just ridiculous, just a movement to make WvW more ‘PVEadable’. For people that actually cares and jsut plays WvW is the worst movement ever, no poitn to upgrade or defend anything, no point for the poeple to log in to WvW.
This could be nice in EOTM where points don’t matter at all, doing this in regular WvW is just a really really bad idea, after 1 hour it is already boring, ppt everywhere, brainless, no fun,
I would rather see current issues fixed than new special game modes.
I know a lot of small man groups would love to tweak the rules so that they don’t get Rez-Zerged as often. Maybe for one week only allow one person to Rez in combat? Could be a big equalizer for uneven fights. OOC 5 people can still Rez.
Low Gravity Week – You can jump really high and far and you can use all skills while in the air. You also fall much slower. -_-
However if you jump INTO a Keep/Tower or something you will be instagibbed by a naked Lord Faren.

I’m mixed on a ‘No Rally’ week. It is really messed up that you can be fighting 3v3, down all 3 enemies, and even without anything nearby that can be killed, one or 2 will suddenly rally because something was killed halfway across the map (not even levelup, just a rally, but levelup too for that matter which eventually won’t be an issue). But there are so many times that fighting 3v5 or 3v7, the 3 can kill all of them but one or 2 sometimes get downed during it, and this helps to get them up. A no rally might tip the scales in favor of numbers in a skill vs numbers fight. Personally I think rally needs to have a shorter radius or at least a much shorter tag time it is based on, instead of something tagged earlier a distance away dying and rallying them magically.
I’d be against a ‘no down state’ week for the reasons I’m iffy on a no rally. I get the frustration in a fight when you’ve already beat them but they rally and get away, or get power rez’d constantly, but as much fun as it can be to burst someone down occasionally, a good fun fight, whether even or outnumbered, is far more enjoyable. But I’d be afraid this would just literally be a week of ‘burst or be burst’. Especially as damage is currently. For only a week perhaps we could see what happens, but I just don’t think it would be enjoyable, much like leveling and being insta-dead because you haven’t unlocked the ‘ability’ to downstate isn’t exactly fun.
Perhaps as a test though, we could have a no Player vs Door week? Or at least players, phantasms, minions, etc., can’t do damage, or can’t do much damage until a gate is below 5% or so? Or every attack on a gate puts a few seconds of weakness on the one attacking, siege of course not being affected.
(And a ‘no siege’ situation has basically already happened before. It was a Player could only PvD to break into a tower/keep, due to a bug with Deploy siege)

No rallying… meh. How about no hardressing while in fight, so that smaller but skilled groups will have a chance against zergs? You know, something totally opposite to what is gonna be happening this whole week.

Last Hope- Event
If your server loses Garri, Hills & Bay and you are outnumbered (THATS THE KEY OUTNUMBERED SO ITS FAIR) if you manage to capture your power of the ruins spots an Armageddon takes place that nukes Garri, Hills/ Bay Blasting open all doors on keeps, refilling all your citadel supply and gives you a +10 to all stats as long as you dont hold any Keep.
Ideas on this one??

All downed players take half damage from damage/condis, but cannot be rallied by kills or skills. They must be hard rezzed.
However my favorite idea is a bit more complex. The idea is to basically eliminate the Zerg entirely, and turn WvW into a giant, havoc/roaming/guildgroup game for the week, with action happening

1 week were only Points you get are for kills and stomps and capping/defending building were Paper is Worth 0, T1 50 camp, 100 Tower, 250 keep/sm, T2 camp 100 Tower 200 keep/sm 400 T3 camp 200 Tower 300, keep/sm 500 and Points for defense is given when sword is gone.
Melee event:
- Permanent stability (can’t be removed).
- Immunity to crippling effects (cripple, chill and immobilize)
- Immunity to retaliation.
- Only melee weapons allowed.
- Disable ground targeted skills.

What’s about a “Spank a dev”-week? One dev per server and you have to hunt him down for a 100% precursor drop. This sounds like a funny wvw event!
Yeah I’m somewhat cynical on this post…
The great thing about special event weeks is that the more extreme it is, the more likely it is to get people to rethink strategy & tactics. Plus, it’s simpler to implement than fixing some of the existing issues, since the special event is meant to destabilize the status quo, while bug fixes are meant to re-stabilize what was broken.
So far my favorites are:
-Perma swiftness week (bring back nostalgia from DAOC’s days with bards/minstrels, it’s swiftness for all in WvW so no balance issues)
-No Arrow Carts week (this one will actually bring back real WvW players, imagine that)
-Bounty hunter week (add achievements for killing 1000 asuras, 3000 guardians, 500 charrs, etc)

Aside from the neekid Lord Faren, I think this sounds like fun.

I would like a ‘no rally on player kills’ if this happens.
Getting lucky enough to be by anything else should be a viable rally(for those pesky times a camp guard does down you when you are soloing it). It would also hopefully help to get people to try and get you up when you go into downed. But i would also want to add no rezzing from fully KO and downed state health lasts longer
For new game types
PPT 2.0 – instead of ppt being based on what is held when the clock hits 0 have it instead reward you for how long you hold the objective. Different objectives could be worth different amounts of points for different time periods. For example camps may get reduced to worth 1 point but does so every 5 minutes. Upgrade tiers could serve as multipliers. for example every upgrade purchased could increase the value by 25% so a tower worth say 10 every 15 minutes would become 15 every 15 minutes with 2 upgrades.
Would serve to shake up people from only trying to focus on taking locals when there is less than 5 minutes on the clock to use RI to guarantee the points.
and for a crazy version
Wormholes – at random portals would open around the map for a say 30sec to 1 min. these would be paired much like mesmer portals but would have no limits on how many could go thru them. But pretty much anyplace on the map would be a possibility so you may get lucky and that portal you find might take you straight into lords room of Garrison or it might drop you in the enemy citadel where the legendary guards slaughter you all in seconds. add to the fun that say 3-5 of these pairs could be open at any given time makes predicting where you will come out that much harder.
imagine the craziness that would ensue. or the heartbreak as you send a sacrifice, err scout thru the portal to find it takes you to the inner wall of a keep only to have it close before you can get anyone else thru. Or being a small group being chased by a bigger zerg, a portal appears nearby and you jump in and luckily its back in your spawn, unlucky for any of that zerg that follows you thru.
The announcement of the week-long “Golem Rush” special event is… interesting, to say the least. Regardless of whether it’s bad or not, I was wondering how often these “special events” would take place. Once a month? Once every two months? I think these kinds of events have the potential to be a lot of fun, where we can basically stop thinking and just play YOLO for a week (I feel like it should just be a weekend though, not an entire week, though that would cause complications/complaints regarding the rest of that particular match-up).
Granted, they should be fixing other WvW issues (ironically, Omega Golems are one of those issues), but if these special events are to become a thing, what other gimmicks/stupid ideas do you think can be done? (Serious or Troll, doesn’t matter; I want a good laugh)
A few ideas:
-Gotta Go Fast: Give everyone perma-super-speed
-Brawl: Disallow use of long-ranged (1000+?) weapons
-Back to Basics: Downscale everything/everyone to Level 1 (you keep all your skills ofc)
-Thunderstorm: Huge buffs to NPC Soldiers
Maybe this doesn’t happen on higher tier servers but on tier 8 many of us are trying to build and work to scale up in your (kinda broken atm imo) system. Right now all our efforts seems wordless since this has become a k-train. Not even the essence of WvW remains. Why don’t you guys try to “YOLO” the world bosses or maybe even the guild missions “just for the funzies”.
Sorry but this has been one of your worst ideas for WvWers, specially the low tier servers who lack of population/presence. Guess I´m not going to Wvw this week, same as many of my server’s players. GG Anet!
