BG has gotten a few transfers as well.

I hear a couple of small to medium NA guilds and another 400 to 500 Oceanic/SEA timezone people are moving over but having the same problems the other T1 servers are with the FULL thing going on.

i’m not certain where they all came from or the details, this is just what i was told by a guild friend.

If you look closely you will see what is happening.

So SBI’s guilds jumped to SOR. Several very solid and experienced guilds jumped to JQ. SoS picks up ND. BG? Nothing. No transfers, no new guilds. So here is what happens.

BG has to keep it close to JQ to keep our rating going up. Which we have been. BGs rating has been positive for what, 10? 12? weeks in a row. We gain a little bit every week in tier 2, and we gained rating last week, and so far this week are up a bit more while JQ is down a bit.

Then the mass transfers to JQ is going to bring that little gain we have back to even or worse.

All the while, SBI guilds flock to SOR in tier 2. What this does is take advantage of the Sucko system because SBI had a very high rating compared to SOR two weeks ago. Now that is a phoney rating because the guilds are no longer on SBI, but are on SOR. So the system thinks that SOR suddenly got super good, and SBI super bad, and is adjusting the rating accordingly by skyrocketing SOR up in rating.

The rating the blackgate slowly earned each and every week is has been achieved by SOR in two weeks. Now for the rest of the week, JQ will make sure to keep BG down (rightfully so, its war) with all the new guilds they just picked up, and it will make room for SOR who now has the combined forces of SBI added to what they had before to move into tier 1.

So, end result, because of transfers, it has blown 10 weeks of work from blackgate to get into tier 1. If we don’t drop back this week, we will the week after unless we get transfers of our own.

Now whats left? The top six servers are now SOS, JQ, SOR, BG SBI and TC.

Even without transfers, BG put up great fights in Tier 1, a good Tier 1 contender if it wasn’t for the mass transfers.

Now we are going to be left with four heavy WVW servers. Depending on how SoR does in Tier 1, BG and SOR may flip back and forth until a new rival joins the pack, whether it be TC or FA or Maguuma etc….

Its frustrating, but SoR timed their move right and got the transfers to move to Tier 1 either this week or next.

We’ll see what happens, but I think this is how it will play out.

BG is in a bad spot. Not enough coverage for T1, yet our coverage dominated T2. So if we go back to T2, its easy wins again, like it was for what? 8 weeks?

If we stay in T1, unless we get mass transfers, we really don’t have much hope of winning. I think there is a serious problem in T1. The sheer number difference between the servers is mind boggling. The gap between T1 and T2 is much farther apart than anticipated.

You may be right that SoR could replace BG in the next matchup because of huge population shifts. That being said, I think everyone who plays WvW in T1 knows that BG is a great server full of skilled WvW guilds and that BG deserves its hard earned place in T1.

You’re exactly right. We are just on the edge of being a serious contender. Your perspective of the situation is accurate.

I dont want to see my server in 3rd place. Nobody on Blackgate does. But… I’m realistic. I do not see guilds transferring to Blackgate. I do however see guilds transferring to JQ and SOS. Neither of those 2 servers needed anymore guilds. You two already had the best coverage of all the other servers. Any more transfers to those two servers is just overkill at this point.

You still dont get how t1 works. BG is a great server with some good guilds in their respective time zones, and SoS is fighting tooth and nail. But you still dont get t1

do not tell me what i do or do not get. instead explain your position and help me understand your perspective. otherwise you’re not contributing.

with that in mind, enlighten me as to “how t1 works.” i never claimed to understand “how t1 works” and as such I am completely open to enlightenment.

i was only relaying my perspective on the situation, i wasn’t trying to make any bold statements on how anything works.

There is head scratching behavior everywhere in the WvWs. JP camping included.

BG move into tier1 with a bad timing because Anet decide to close free transfer while we’re still adapt ourselves to tier1. Close free transfer will cause a mass exodus from bottom tiers to upper tiers. BG aint yet get a solid footground in tier1 yet. The mass exodus caused SBI/IoJ to dissipate and those most of SBI/IoJ folks never have BG in their first list. (Because they hate us in blood when we fought in tier1 long ago like 2 weeks? lol) The mass exodus moved to JQ and SoR.

Also it make things worse in tier2 that SoR is getting a lot of transfer while TC havent get much. SBI rating drop in combination of SoR’s ownage make them a huge rating boost which may make them kick BG off from tier1. It may not be next week but it will be in the next two week as SBI lose a lot of guilds and surely wont have enough to cover the ground from SoR.

But nevertheless, we will fight with what we have with the time remaining we have. Even we need to get a chill pill in tier2 for a week or two, we will climb up again. (Beside, a week vacation with TC should be nice enough for us as they all are very nice compared to what being in tier1 :P)

Can we stop arguing? There are many fine guilds that have gone to JQ, SoS, or SoR from servers such as EB, IoJ, and SBI. Even PRX gave Blackgate a fair look. While I wish that some of those guilds would have chosen us instead, they made the decisions that they felt were best for their guild. No matter how the dust settles on the 28th, our community has a fire that will burn in the darkest depths of the bracket and your numbers alone cannot stop the beast.

I tip my hat to the countless guild leaders that I have spoken to over the past 2 weeks about Blackgate and I thank you for your time and consideration. I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors regardless of your final decisions. If you chose right, I will be there dying for God and Blackgate right beside you. If you chose wrong, well, I hope to see you on the end of my sword soon.

Thats exactly how I feel Riven. Blackgate has been my home since day one. No transfers no hopping. I and my guild are on Blackgate for the long haul, we may not have the reputation of one the kitten unstoppable guilds in WvW just yet, but we are fighting in BGBL every night to push back the tide. Just as KnT fights every night in EBG.

We aren’t going anywhere.

This works for me. Spot on. Great to have some ex SBI guilds as part of the JQ community. Ran with SF last night on BG BL for a change. Had a blast with those guys. Great to be following up on Jed’s hammer swings rather then being under them

But seriously, which server is receiving the most transfers? Even with SoS still winning last week (after JQ got some strong transfers for Oceanic times I believe), the match up was very close before the end of transfers was announced. Any big difference in the transfer numbers could easily stack the deck for the favoured server.

I’m not convinced all the transfer numbers have made it in yet. Seems to be trickling in.

SF’s sister guilds are still transferring I think. NA prime will be more fun nevertheless.

this is probably the fairest statement about the current situation in Tier 1 and Tier 2. People need to realize what’s happening to SoR in Tier 2 is similar to what happened to BG when they were dominating in Tier 2, it was hard to fight and recruit against BG. SoR got its turn at being a good target after BG moved up to Tier 1, and this is after months of holding on to being 5th place, fighting BG’s coverage advantage and recruit (and retain) SoR’s WvW population. What comes around goes around, sometime you get transfers that you need (like SoR’s ND to BG), sometimes you dont. It just so happens that SoR hit the lotto this past week. From our perspective, it’s about kitten time some positive turn of events happen to SoR, and there’s nothing wrong with having 4 top servers fighting for 3 spots.

The perspective of the poster has a lot to do with what timezone they usually play in ha. I bet me im not is EU yes?

We are just happy to be there in t1 fighting against the best week in and week out. Number one seed in all of NA is great and all, been there, done that four times over five months or so, but it’s the 24/7 endless fight against challenging coverage, organized guilds, and skilled players that fuels our passion.

SoS, BG, the old SBI, and soon to be SoR all are worthy of the #1 seed. SoS has worked hard on keeping it over the last few months.

problem is that its not about skill, its about coverage…

BG has a terrible late NA early oceanic coverage slot before SEA comes on…

being outmanned on all 4 zones including EBG on a sunday just aint gonna cut it… its just that simple

We would need a couple of major west coast NA guilds or aussie guilds to xfer ove to close the gap… probably wouldnt hurt to have 1-2 more med sized east coast guilds either.

the above is what it would take to beat JQ.

To beat SoS is a whole different story, in that case we would need not only the transfers toget us coverage but would need several smaller guilds to organize to harass supply camps and yaks, cap and defend camps and yaks.

Unfortunatly our pugs are loosely organized at best and are more interested in following our larger guilds around in a karma train because they are used to being able to do this and still win on tier 2. Unfortunatly its not useful at all in tier 1 and its why near the point tick we have virtually none of the supply camps despite whatever else we may have.

Liyrc, all I can say is that I’ve learned more from RG about open field tactics than I have from any NA server since release. Love all your videos, keep up the pwnage.

shows what a well thought out team composition + teamwork can do. (plus a little hyperactive screaming)

hammer warriors + guardians + D/D elementalists + major buffs + mesmer thrown in for good value.

I’ve seen SF run pretty the same team build (hammer warrior front line) Its lethal for teamfights.

These RG are buff masters, when I first came across these guys trying to attack a keep I targeted one of them and the amount of buffs they had was amazing. They even go and get the blessing of the wolf/raven/leopard etc before a fight. The skale venom potion as well was something I’d never seen before these guys turned up. Now everyone is using them.

I honestly think what’s hurting Blackgate and stopping them from getting these big Xfers was all the forum warrior kitten-talk done all those months ago, and again recently before their second jump to T1. It wasn’t done by any big name or respectable guilds, but done by the overzealous guys who troll forums more than they WvW. Would you bring your top-tier guild to a server that trashed talked and then couldn’t deliver?

It’s very unfortunate because some of you guys are excellent opponents on the field. But in this case, the masses of unknown have potentially ruined it for you guys. Something else could be that a lot of players have as Kurthos would say “gotten fat” from sitting around steamrolling T2 for so long. The same thing happened to JQ and SBI when SoS first came into T1, they had easy wins against dissolved HoD and ET servers with the only other competitors being BG and IoJ (the latter of which proved to barely be T2 capable). So when we (SoS) came in, we didn’t just raise the roof, we blew the whole kitten house up.

The same thing is happening this week to us, we ‘got fat’ from winning with minimal effort for so many weeks that we’re struggling in the NA timezone because we have to fight larger coordination and better competition. Thankfully, our SEA and Oceanics are saving our kitten right now. BIG shout-outs to those guys We owe you for this one.

The thing is, JQ has more potential than BG at the moment. With their recent transfers of SF and PRX if those two guilds would make a push against SoS or BG rather than worry about defending and wiping enemy zergs out than JQ would hold top PPT 24/7.

That isn’t to say they shouldn’t defend at all. Just needs to be more agressive during opportunistic times.
