Some ANET interfered with our GvG
BrYo.6904
Ok so we all agree on one point :
We see only noobs complaining about the GvG.
=> So go back playing pokemon/take care of ur wife and let real players who push the game to his limits do their things. Anet knows it, it’s not all those pve/casual/leechers/RvR tourists who will help them to developp the pvp side of GW2.

Wow, you guys amaze me every day. On this very page alone I find two posts where terribad Baby-PvPers alias GvGers are so full of themselves to assume everybody who doens`t enjoy your “1” spamming cyclejerk must be a newb.
Sorry to break it to you guys, you`re pretty much at the bottom of the foodchain skillwise.
Good players usually don`t rely on 24 mates to show off their skills, good players usually despise any setting where their individual talents cannot shine, good players usually don`t GvG because they would simply feel bored to hell…
Now go on mass report my post like you did with the last guy on this page who expressed an opinion (without any namecalling or insults) that was not yours just 10 minutes ago… so mature, so classy!
Best regards
I guess its not really about GvG or PPT at all really 99% of every piece of virtual ink wasted on the topic is by extreme eejits from both ‘camps’. At the end of the day it is probably the biggest ‘no you’ topic I have ever seen in a game forum^^

And who are you to know so much about what “good players” do?
The game mode was made for open siege war and not remote GvG, if the dev wants to stand there he has the right to stand there, he did nothing wrong… He said, start the fight go go.
Cant believe what I am reading…
You really hate anything that takes even a little bit of skill/teamwork dont you, hehe, stay in pve buddy.Cause you know facts mean you hate teamwork. This is why there is no reasonable discussion to be had with the “GvG crowd”
Cause you know, siege war is so much more reasonable. Sitting back with twice the numbers on higher elevation so you can treb without being countered. So interesting. And PPT is totally an accurate method of evaluating skill, nothing to do with coverage.
See my point exemplified once again. To say that coordinating a ppt based initiative is less of a teamwork effort than fighting with your guild is woefully ignorant and one of the reasons GvGers come across as petulant, unreasonable, and elitist.
And to sit there and bash the GvG community with such strong bias makes you come across as petulant, unreasonable, and elitist.
Cute, you don’t know me nearly well enough to know that and it makes you look the fool.
My moves are fresh, like my groceries.

Why is everyone so woefully ignorant of how GvG works? It’s a very occasional event, something that takes a lot of coordination to set up and is usually done in a way that doesn’t interfere with WvW.
Most people in my guild do far more roaming or PvP, because that is also a lot of fun and also doesn’t require nearly as much work.
Of everyone here, you are the elitist who is telling us that we can’t decide to have fun in a certain way.

“most servers wvw communities have disbanded”?
Where did you see this?
And actually [FIRE] from Aurora Glade did disband… And obviously you’ve never played seriously team sports before that’s why you don’t understand that when you play team sports you create bonds.
(edited by Avalon.6418)
Ya.. apparently I hurt some feelings.
Or the truth could inspire kids to grow up
Yeah, and ECL disbanded on SFR, KoA as well, and I`m certain there are other guilds who disbanded in the past and will in the future.
What`s the point, no correlation to the patch, and even if in FIRE`s case: a passionate wvw guild that considers itself a strong asset to wvw with a very minor focus on GvG (as you GvG guilds claim to have) wouldn`t just disband because of such a tiny impact of 5%-10% max of their playing time, right…right?
Why would they, I mean there`s still a lot to do in wvw besides GvG, at least that`s what you are trying to sell here in the forum in countless threads and posts.

This 5%-10% of their playing time is a huge deal for them. As I said we want to have fun as each of us defines it.
Wow make this stop! Just finish GvG, the guild halls and lock this thread.
… like i said in a spvp thread too, and make guild hall changes + capes/whatever pvp robes guilds wear, cost gems to place emblems on and change.
Huzzah, monkin money. Hell make the guild hall cost gems.
But the spvp maps aren’t entirely adequate, would like to see something little more open without the ability to see enemy players on the mini map
i hope you communicated with the other team to kill him!
oh man…
bad move anet…
real bad move…
it clearly shows anet is only concerned with their own perspective, not the players..

Port into the mists and hit M.
You’ll see plenty of room ^^
I guess this explains why WvW development is floundering so much. The people behind the game are both clueless and unprofessional.

Yes, huddling in a blob pressing 1 and not communicating is the epitome of team work. Hello mr fairweather.
it’s remarkable (hence, I’m remarking upon it) that this thread has surpassed the ‘Server Match up is terrible’ thread in length, and in much less time.
in other news, it looks like ArenaNet figured out a new way today to interfere with GvG. personally, I’d rather let the GvG’ers continue if this is the alternative.

Regarding Guild game play, please understand it is extremely important to us, and an area we are paying a great deal of attention to, so please do be patient with the developers who work tirelessly on making WvW the very best it can be, they have a great deal of respect for you all, and value your collaboration in pushing this pioneering mode forward.
I’d like to point out that this does not imply that GvG is being developed in any way, as “pioneering mode” may well refer to WvW as a whole.

Hey, i’m looking to do some GvG. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I’m on darkhaven atm
thanks
Yeah, those darn GvGers jumping in the middle of WvWers fun flashing their Tags of authority demanding everyone play their game exactly as they say and no other way.

I am referring to the self righteous indignance, when in fact Anet did nothing wrong.

I don’t really see the problem…
You figured you’d act bad kitten against him and it backfired on you since he didn’t just take it and leave so now you come here crying on the forums…
And no, I’m not against GvG before you start crying about that aswell.
which page did Anet comment on?
13 mid way through….

Next time just say righteous indignation from the start, that at least could fit.

what amazes me is the hostility here towards the GvG community, cause most of these guilds are really dedicated WvW players.

Because casuals think they are the backbone of their WvW server snicker

Agreed that some GvG guys are pretentious, but it’s hardly fair to generalize the whole community that way. That type of attitude exists in every aspect of GW2. Stop by the Dungeon forum for a few minutes, and you’re guaranteed to see it. MMO’s tend to breed that kind of behavior.
I have never participated in a GvG even once, but I’m still willing to support it because the bigger issue to me is that Anet has done almost nothing to improve the state of WvW since launch. In fact, I feel that the majority of updates have caused more harm than good. So, I will support players for coming up with ways to break the PvDoor grind because the company running the game has failed to do so.

woah 5 days and this post still on….
I know is mostly a discussion between pro-GvGers & anti-GvGvers but now it starts looking more like a complaint post.

^This additude is why there’s so much animousity towards GvGers. They seem as quick to point out how they’re better then you, more important then you, and how the whole game revolves around them. If they want the general player base to accept them, they’ve really got to start showing some humility.
I wasn’t being elitest, I was just stating the facts. I appreciate what casual pve players do in WvW and I appreciate them being here and I understand them wanting to play the game they want to play it. But the simple fact is 20 casuals playing their own way how they want to play it, is never going to affect the score or win the open field fights or defend things the way 20 people in an organized guild with proper builds and synergy will. I’m not saying they don’t contribute to the server they definitely do, but if your not logging in most of the week, your just popping in to do some daily’s or tag people with a cart or flip a few camps…your simply not contributing as MUCH as a guild that’s raiding or running 4, 5 6 times a week, that’s all. Also sometimes the they get together and form the pug zerg in EB or another map and push the effort forward for a server! Which is awesome, but again organized guilds simply accomplish more, and if they all left your server, it would become the next anvil rock…lol

I actually find it quite entertaining that one person got you all this worked up. The gvg players were in the wrong and he was in the wrong. An apology was made. No company will ever have the said individual publicly apologize. It is just a terrible idea to begin with. There’s plenty of reasons why only certain people make a statement in this manner.
Now about people thinking the organized guilds are the ones that do most of the work in wvw. Where do you draw the line as to an organized guild effort or not? The vast majority of the player base is in a guild. In fact almost all of it is in some sort of guild.
Yes some organized guilds do good work. I’ve seen ones that do really well and I’ve seen ones that pugs have made look like a joke. I’ve seen 5 good players from different guilds or no guild beat larger organized guild forces many times. I think most large organized guild advocates are generalizing all organized guilds as being the top 25% from a skill/effectiveness stand point.
Pugs, small groups, and pug zergs do at least half the work out in WvW. You aren’t out there all the time. During off hours much of the time they are all that is out there maintaining those maps or fighting to take them back. Yes I am aware that there are off hour guilds, but most of the players our there are pugs and small groups. During prime time at least half the players out there are pugs. Reset night is probably the highest organized guilds to pug ratio.
I appreciate all the work of all the players out there. Whether they are an organized guild, organized pug group(shocking for you guild advocates to hear I know), pug zerg, or small groups. A lot of those pugs are very good players and know how to work with a group, whether it’s big or small. Pugs and guild both ARE the backbone of any server. Fair weathers are the annoyance not everyone who isn’t in your guilds/guild groups. Everyone not in a big guild group adds a lot to your servers success.

how is that not helping? I think this helps our servers more since out it will make our servers job much easier.

If you are referring to me. I never said it wasn’t helping. I think they are a great asset to any server. I was simply defending those not in said guilds. Everyone contributes and is valuable. I’m simply saying those not in the guilds contribute much more than many are stating.

Who said I care about WvW and ppt? I don’t want the name of my favorite game-mode being ripped to shreds by zerglings pretending to do it. If they want to dress-up and run around pretending to be something they aren’t they should wait a few more weeks, Halloween is just on the horizon
The point isn’t to dimish the value of other players, the point is that it is very silly to act as though guilds playing the occasional GvG are a detriment to the server.
If a server feels that way, they should let their guilds know, so that the guilds may consider the option of transferring to a more welcoming server.

I’m surprised they haven’t closed this thread yet.
“The most important thing in any game should be the player. We have built a game for them.”
-Ree Soesbee, GW2 Manifesto
…except for players who join guilds and would like to fight other guilds in open field death matches…cuz those guys, they’re playing the game wrong.
This thread is about as meaningful as the empty assurances of it’s pre launch hype. We know that they know, that we know they messed up in design, implementation, and scope of both PvP game modes. If they hadn’t we wouldn’t have this thread, and the our differing styles of play wouldn’t be causing all this player conflict.

Sigh, I though you can do better than that.
How this incident helps your cause, care to explain? Semantics weren’t even a slightest part of it. If this unofficial GW2 mode was going to be banned, it for sure would go down the history by the name you cherish so much, so it is not helping, quite opposite. The only chance to claim the title back you have is as long as Nancy lives.
Oh, and btw, you’ve just “spat in the face”, in your own words, of much larger player base by misusing term “zergling”. Stop that please.

What´s the point in that statement ? ECL, KoA, RG and many more disbanded for their own personal reasons, that does not speak for the GvG community in general and may or may not have anything to do with it. What do you consider a GvG Guild ? How much GvG´s they have to do ? once a week, twice a week, once a month ? I really don´t get your hostility towards those guilds. WvW is big and there is a place for everybody be it small or large scale.
