Because the way i see burst damage and experience burst damage in the game is excessive! and need to be remove. Where burst damage range from 75%-100% instant death. I find this very problematic because of the very high damage and how it destroy challenge play.
Why it is not challenge play? Because how some class Burst do not require any cool-down or have very low cool-down to execute it: like spam. Also how burst damage destroy challenge play by using easy way without using skill.
A thief burst damage range 85%-100% to insant kill.
A Mesmer burst damage range 75%-90% can instant kill if connect
A Cele Elementalist and A Cele Engineer- 85%-100% to instant kill
A Ranger Burst- 75%-100% instant kill
A Guardian Burst- 80%-90%
A Warrior Burst- 65%-100%
Again, Burst require easy skill instead of hard skill for challenge= no fun. What is the point of give each class skill if it take one or small skill to do everything?. I have a question: is that why the class in this game have not too many skill so they can burst, burst, burst?
That is why instant kill is possible and that is why instant excessive damage is possible because of burst. Burst do not encourage class to use challenge play but encourage only “easy way out” skill.
Last Example; it is like using super move instead of using basic move to fight. I find that is damage to Guild Wars 2 career and need to be remove.
“Easy way out skill” should not be allowed and should be remove. The reason why you create skill is to work hard for it, Not to not work hard at all.
Example Question: Would you be happy if someone who have little skill and require little experience to take your job?
Example Question 2: Would you be happy if you study very hard and use all energy to go take test and see another person who study a little and use little energy pass the test?
Arena net, you work very hard to make Guild Wars 2 and use a lot of your time to make Guild Wars 2: Please! remove burst

Not to deactivae zerker armor or deactivate food, runes, sigil etc… but to remove the skills in the trait line. I do not think it would be ok to remove sigil, zerker armor stats etc,, The main problem is in their traits line/skill that is responsible.
Yes, Arena net would reomove all traits skill that make burst and would replace them with other skill that will not make them burst and make them excessive instant damage.
Example: here is a ele burst build- i would remove all skill in the trait line in the build.

Maybe you can give better suggestion?: i do not want to take sigil, rune, or armor away from all of the class.
Again, the main source of burst problem is in their traits: the traits is too powerful when combine together. Power+Power= Excessive Too much power
Their trait need to be redesign to prevent that. Why put too many damage in one trait and one build? It do not make sense at all!

Aww RNG direct burst got to love it vs other glasses. Since full wet noodle tank is possible full glass should be as well but one is unbalanced guess which?

You can not balance Power+Power
You can. High burst damage is typically balanced with low personal survivability.
The build in that video, for example, has 12.3k health and 2.1k armor without guard leech. In fact, the discussion thread that video links do describes the build as “Trading sustain for insane burst potential in very short periods of time”. This is a build that can drop a player in only a few seconds, but can have the same done to them if they aren’t careful.
Moving away from that build on it’s own, Burst and bursty builds have as much a role in WvW as any setup. They are excellent roaming builds, helping their server keep opposing players out of an area of the map, protecting yaks and camps, and picking off stragglers trying to catch up to an enemy zerg. They’re built for catching opponents unawares, for quickly downing+stomping someone then moving on. They’re good at that -some builds maybe too good- but those strengths have weaknesses.
Bust builds like that tend to fail in large group combat. With 20+ players throwing out AoE your small health pool and low armor will punish you every time you try to jump out and drop someone. Not to mention that the more people in a fight, the better chances someone will target you, and the better odds of you being caught unawares and quickly downed.
They also rely too heavily on a quick flurry of damage. If someone survives their initial barrage, a burst build has to play defensive until they can find the opportunity to burst again… and that gives their opponent time to drop them. Also, with the element of surprise gone, better players can anticipate their burst and mitigate it, partially or completely. With a build like that, all you need is for a savvy opponent to find an opening, and it’s you being one-shot, not them.
Then remove condition too lol.
Condition can burst down like 5k damage per second when build up.
It’ll kill the person 10 times for the duration if not removed.
Let’s remove everything so everyone can live in harmony and no-one can harm others.

If you want to be taken seriously, find “evidence” that’s not cut and pruned, as I can expect anything with montage in its name is just someone playing very short clips of fights that were handpicked out of a few hundred. I could say “l2p”, because that’s exactly what your thread is about.
However, I think more experienced players should sometimes share their (humble) knowledge. Otherwise, how are you supposed to learn?
Learning how to mitigate a burst requires fast reflexes, the right utilities and above all battlefield awareness. You’ll get the first only through hours of practice. The other two however, are easy to get right. Here are a few pieces of advice.
1) Have a “oh kitten” button. Everything that breaks immob, insta teleport, makes you invulnerable, or insta heals you. Really, all it requires is for it to be insta cast and mitigate the damage in some way, and gives a second or two to recover from your surprise
ex: Withdraw on thief, Distorsion or Blink on mesmer, Endure Pain on warrior, etc.
2) Be aware like Van Damme. If I had to give you just ONE tip to be a better player in pvp modes, it would be the following: have a key bind for “look behind”. Regularly press it when you’re moving, and don’t look at your map/inventory for too long on the battlefield. A shatter mesmer cannot 100-0 anyone if their target saw them coming, even if they stealth (their stealth is not long enough).
3) Play a bunker build That’s ok to be bad at 1v1s: most WvW players are (I’M KIDDING PLEASE DON’T HURT ME). Just do like us and play a PVT build. Only the best SD elementalist will be able to 100-0 your sorry kitten, but he has no stealth so with your new key bind you’ll see it coming and dodge.
Remember: even with this advice you’ll still loose against players that are better than you. While some bursts are arguably easier to pull off (ranger, PS dagger thief), the ones you seem to complain the most about take tremendous skill in their perfect execution (shatter mesmer, scepter elementalist), so if you die to those, chances are you just got outplayed. I hope that helped you anyway.

Please nerf burst, please get rid of WvW food, please nerf stab even more…I hope the anet developers have enough sense to disregard some of these or not take them serious….oh wait stab go nerfed. Well anet you may as well drive the nail in the coffin and aoe cap static and lines at 5 and get rid of – condi food. That way only 5 of a zone blob will stop and the remaning 70 can run over your group with cc and conditions (wont matter if it’s capped at 5 cause they will throw 20 at you)…well done (sarcasm).

for starters, the guy who made that montage is probably the best ele that I know.
A gentle breeze will kill him. I’ve tried to run his build – and it’s NOT easy. If he makes a SINGLE mistake, is not fast enough to use a stunbreak, or even if his BLINDS get cleared, he will get 1 shot.
He is set up that way in order to be able to counter the bunkers. It’s a HARD way to play the game. It’s not forgiving. You make mistakes and you die when you run that much damage.

You know nothing man. There was a thread a veery long time ago (over an year) with a suggestion that you could lose maximum of 30% of your hp per second (even if 20+ people are bombing you) “to counter burst and allow newer players better play experience”.
it’s ok OP, I am not very good either. Only difference is i’m not going to suggest weird things like remove burst. People like to burst, they adjust their build accordingly and accept that they themselves can be bursted down.
This thread would have been infinitely more beneficial if the OP simply posted his class and current build. While some damage is excessive in this game, it often comes down to poor play, poor experience, or poor design.

Dear OP. There is existing mechanics in the game to mitigate damage. Various armor stats/utlity/traits/dodges/blocks/invuln/kiting Line of site. All of the issues brought up in past threads seem to boil down to just learning how to play.

All of these threads boil down to your need to learn to play the game, wether it be using heavy CC to immobilize running foes, or dodging mesmer burst, or using los to block ranger attack. I feel necromancer condition is very weak unless in zerg fight. I thought necromancer condition was very strong than all other class condition. I realize that is not true at all/ Yes this morning i was fighting a condition thief. Her condition on me was doing alot of effect on me and my condition did not even do no effect on her at all.
I thought i was doing good but my condition damage did not even bring down her health at all. I was attacking her with a lot of condition and still same.
I realize now the thief a girl was playing with me and than got tired of it and instant kill me with 1 burst. Before: I try to use death shroud but she keep preventing me from using it.
So i changed class to mesmer for revenge and find her still there. I use condition mesmer on her and same thing happen: her health did not even go down. I use all my clone against her: she instant kill them and me after.
So this time, i was frustrate and did not change class and log out game.

condi necro in wvw with access to dire gear +condi food looses to condi theif… asks fror reduced damage, which means with both builds using conditions they are actually asking for their own damage to be nerfed. OP wants to be nerfed.

The reason i say thief was a condition thief was because the thief: girl used short bow on me in distance with condition and burst me with dagger. Her dagger damage effect was fire+lightning. I think she use a zerker short bow and use condition sigil in it and use zerker dagger with fire sigil and lightning sup air in it.

If they allow this to happen, no-one will ever kill a decent thief because you need him to be visible for at least 4 seconds to kill him, which is kinda asking the impossible in WvW.
I’m not even sure why anyone is humoring the OP at this point. His/her oldest post on the forum is from 2 months ago and an overwhelming majority of the posts revolve around the same issues of burst and risk builds.
The best suggestion for the OP is to either learn to play/counter or move on and find another game. You can’t have the same problems for roughly 2 months and continue to think that it’s the game that needs to change and not you yourself.
While we remove burst, can we make sure there are ‘cake stations’ set up in wvw? Maybe some tea and crumpets so we can all gather together and share pve tales and heroics with others servers.
Seems like a logical upgrade to WvW. SM can get a disco ball and we can all gather at the new nightclub.
No seriously if we remove burst, I really have a thing against deathshroud … and dodging. Who needs dodging. Enemies keep avoiding my attacks. Take it out.

Yeah, Mallex is scary as hell. I’ve dueled and lost to him many times. The only time I was able to “beat” him was an impromptu duel session outside of red keep when he wanted to 1v2 me and my buddy, and even then it was a struggle. The second time he 1v2’d us we lost easily. He kinda reminds me of Heidia, another s/f ele roamer that used to be on HoD and would insta-burst people to death just like that.
It’s very much risk/reward. For those watching the montage notice that he does get very close to dying at times. He’s not immortal, he’s just good. Good enough to the point that people have repeatedly called him a hacker/cheater because they just don’t understand how they can die so quickly to him.
In regards to the OP, you are getting ridiculous with these threads. Do you not even realize that there is one class in the game that has an entire trait line and mechanic that revolves around burst, and that without it power players would be completely screwed (Hint: it’s Warrior)?
