Imo they made a good call.
I know there’s a lot of PvE’rs kittening over this and since a lot of them were just in it for AP and skins, I couldn’t care less. You only had to farm EotM to get 10/10 meta and then you could just stroll back to PvE-land, so Imo you barely deserve a reward from a WvW tournament.Anyways, it seems the most fair solution at this moment. Everybody gets access to “new content” at the same time, makes sense if you ask me. If you’re kitten, you’re a selfish, impatient kitten.

The vast majority of PvErs dont go into WvW thinking about only themselves, but instead go in there thinking about how they can do the things they need to do while still being helpful for their server. It’s only when people get spiteful or when not a single person decides to take take a second to just explain some things to them that they do things counterproductive.
I hope we get some updates a bit more often than normal.

I find it hard to believe that “the vast majority” does that.
I DO believe your point though, before I went ful WvW I also went there for the achievements BUT I did everything I could to still help out and not seem like extra weight for the actual WvW players. This doesn’t mean that the majority is like that.
And how am I being ignorant, there’s no knowing which type of both has been more present in WvW. The helpful PvEr or the leecher. Unless you have some actual trustworthy numbers?

Eh no big deal, Ring of Fire can’t get much with 250 tickets anyway. Just a tad disappointed your dedicated team didn’t work on this issue not happening in the weeks the tournament was going. We worked hard, people without chests are kittened.

Did you read all of this topic, if so you would have seen the several posts that state that some people still have NOT received the REWARDS from season 1 WvW which took place months ago, it was even high lighted on the forums that when Season 2 was announced people asked Anet to fix the rewards for season 1 first, but they where ignored as usual, and they went ahead anyway, 9 weeks later its the same problem so its very likely that those who did not get the rewards this time, will likely not get them, given the way it was sorted in the past,
Yes, I did, and Anet have confirmed the missing chests of S2 already, whereas with S1 it seems the issue didn’t get that same attention – although it should have. Let’s wait and see if they fix this issue in a day or two.

Yeah, same. I wasn’t planning to spend them anyway because I don’t have enough for the shiny. Still, it’s awfully annoying to see the same question in map chat every ten minutes.
There needs to be a guild MoTD pop up on login, and the devs should have one too.

You guys at ANET are doing a very good job! Fix the problem, make sure to hold back the rewards until you are 100% sure that it will not further worsen things and just do your thing.
People complaining and being rude on this forum should try working as a professional s/w dev (no, the static HTML website you did in 4th grade does not count) to understand that it is not as easy as just to ‘check a flag’ – wow. If it were that easy, ANET would have fixed it already.
Just be patient, enjoy the game and stop complaining.

Funny part is non of my guild mates had any problems with getting that chest, nor I or anyone in my friends list… Also, what do some people mean by “dem nasty pvers no deserve le chestis anywayz”. The same way you did your meta, they did theirs. By saying that they dont deserve it, you are actually saying nobody deserves it. IF its so kittening stupid, why did you even bother doing the meta in the first place, when you could just roll with your elite wvw guild into some elite uber mega awesome GvG.

I have an understanding at my job that I get paid every second Thursday for the hours I put in every 14 days. I get paid every 2nd Thursday, no exceptions, ever. Not paying me because some other employee has an issue with direct deposit is not my problem.
Not getting my WvW season rewards because other players are having issues getting their chest is not my problem.
It comes down to lack of care and attention to detail in WvW from Anet. It’s been this way since launch, I doubt it will ever change.

Yeah, thanks for fixing this issue but a new skin is just a skin; it doesn’t really matter anyway since (1) the matchups were unbalanced and (2) what the game needs is new permanent content for WvW or a GvG game mode.

Giving a date is usually not a good idea in these cases. Just see how people are behaving here right now, just imagine what would happen if they gave a date and didn’t manage to solve the issue before that date.

While the World vs. World team investigates an issue with tournament reward chest distribution, we are temporarily delaying access to the rewards that would have otherwise been available on the Battle Historian on June 3rd. Exactly. We aren’t “haters”. Anet is a company that made a promise to its customers. It needs to keep said promise. I can’t stand the “don’t complain, don’t be negative, just be happy because you’re not starving to death” attitude. Its narcissistic apathy veiled in blissful ignorance. People have valid concerns. Learn what empathy is, and let people express themselves. I’m sure that if the people saying “don’t be hating” had a skin they wanted [and earned] bad enough, they would be right here posting. They sure were coming on and whining/complaining when the Zodiac armor had two pointy bits on it that they didn’t want, that’s for sure! Then they got their way, and went back to telling everyone else “don’t be hating, don’t be so negative”. Hypocrisy is distasteful…
I would appreciate if Anet would make the mistforged weapons available to buy with the tickets. There is no sense giving us tickets and then telling us to wait [even longer] for no reason. Anet needs to stop taking forum trolls seriously. So many changes have been made based on the loud minority’s demands. It’s getting ridiculous. First the gem store item censorship, and now its getting into EARNED content. Smh…
People are complaining in-game, and even on Mumble, that most players’ concerns aren’t getting heard on the forums. Most people agree with them – as do I.
Problems happen, and it won’t kill anyone to wait.
However I do wish to point that WvW is already so very lacking in updates and improvements, , does this laxness also have to do with the fact WvW appear to be so negleted?
I’m not a avid WvW participant, I try to help out when I feel it’s needed or some such, but this kind of things is very off putting, there are many things in WvW which I feel is lacking and now, being incentived for 2 months to do a tournament of it than hearing there is such a glaring and untimely problem…
I don’t mind the wait, really. I just frown at what the problem itself might suggest in terms of how anet tends to a major aspect of the game.

I did get the tickets and I fully agree with the postponement. This was a wise decision; implementing the NPC would be like throwing fuel on a raging fire.

I think the decision to delay rewards for everyone is probably a good one all things considered but regardless of this, I would like to make a point: I played Guild Wars 1 for over 4 years and have been playing Guild Wars 2 since launch and, despite loving the feel, mechanics etc of both games, one thing stands out for me about ArenaNet w.r.t. to GW1 and GW2:
Their Quality Assurance process is poor
When I heard that they had changed from one GW2 game update every 4 weeks to one every 2 weeks, I felt little other than despair. I very rarely bother to play the game much on the day of a new release now because the chances are there will be at least another 2 game updates on their way to fix frankly rather major bugs.
ArenaNet: please use less resource on creating so many gem store items and more resource on creating polished releases without major bugs – that way you will be more likely to maintain a loyal player base who are then more likely to spend real cash in the gem store in the future!

The fact that they haven’t figured this out in 4 months is why its an issue. Its seriously unprofessional.
If its something that was known about for the entire four months I’d agree, but this wasn’t known for 4 months. The issues started appearing a week before the end of the tournament, its not like people started not getting their chests on Feb 12th when they announced the tournament.
Yes, very cool. Now lets hope that vendor stays here for more than a month, since today was the last day I could play before my finals. If not I say because of me: “Delay the vendor for 1-2 months, so my finals finish, then we all can get the rewards”.
Another problem here is Anet is dividing the community. I think the people who got their tickets felt at least a bit sympathetic to the ones who did not, and also commented about it here. Now both sides will just headbash into each other. That is what Anet wants: Not united community, but easier to maintain sides.
8 WEEKS and you guys didn’t even test a simple reward system. Actually it’s even worse than that because some of these problems occured during last season too.

4. If they were to put out the reward vendor it will make the situation worse. You can’t put out the vendor and give out the rewards when they system is not working properly.
I work with computers. And honestly, the more I do, the more I am amazed anything relating to computer systems works as well as it does.
I don’t really mind to wait somewhat longer on the Spring Season reward. If that really helps solving the issue. What I do mind is the poor communication and the specific bug.
I had to read the post from Mark Katzbach twice to completely understand it. Although English is not my first language I do read and talk a lot of English every day. Still his post was unnecessarily complicated and in the end did not say a lot.
I have not a lot of faith that this issue will be resolved soon. That some people received the wrong reward worries me. I am afraid that ArenaNet did not collect the correct data for some players. It should be very easy to determine which reward a player should get. There are rules to decide for which server a player should receive the reward. Server and reward are a simple check. I played on Piken Square, that means the reward for 2nd place. That last part cannot be difficult so the error must be in the first part. Hopefully the logic to detect the correct reward server is bugged. Otherwise data is missing and it will be very difficult to resolve that.
Couldn’t be bothered to read and see if someone said it already but it’s painfully obvious that ANet didn’t have the vendor ready even by today, and hence used their other screw-up, half of the players not getting their chests (including me) to cover it up.
Places useless NPC titled Vendor in LA, says ’this vendor totally works fine but we will not let you use it until everyone gets their rewards’ - dodges bullet + smiles evilly.

Here we have the release of a major GW2 ‘Event’ with all the accompanying hype. The “WvW Spring Tournament 2014 is the second WvW tournament for Guild Wars 2; it lasts nine weeks …”. So we have two points here (1) it’s the second (not first) tournament, and (2) it was released 10 weeks ago. You would assume adequate time to identify and patch any issues.
During the tournament we are encouraged and continue to play GW2 pumping whatever gems we need into the game (well some of us do), in the forlorn hope that after 9 weeks of grind we receive something other than a few blues and greens. Those gems which were actually bought, pumping real cash into the ANet coffers. And at the conclusion of the season (flawed though it was, but I digress) what do you get ? Well some got nothing, and others their hard won ’ WvW Tournament Claim Tickets’; but wait no rewards vendor. The image of many people running around Citadel checking every vendor on reset night was slightly amusing though. Nevertheless, a very embarrassing situation for ANet.
I hope they begin to pick up their game (pun intended) and devote some real attention into WvW.
I don’t give a flying fudge about a weapon skin, so I don’t care that it’s delayed or if it even comes at all, and I don’t really understand why people are upset about that part.
However, what does upset me is that, yet again, WvW has been left as an after-thought. If this were PvE, it would have had every resource thrown at this problem, and it would be fixed within hours. If this were PvE, you would have patched the vendor in on the tuesday before the tournament ended, or even on the friday itself. And you certainly wouldn’t have started the tournament without having the vendor ready to patch in. In PvE you manage to get rewards working perfectly on a 4-week cycle, yet for WvW you have a 6-month cycle and can’t even devote the resources to get that right (this isn’t a one-off, all tournaments to date have failed with rewards).
The only reason we’re even seeing anyone from ANet post in this section of the forums now (after months of silence) is to plead with us to not let their screw up become a full-blown PR disaster.
Never mind the kitten tokens. Please take this as a wake-up call to stop ignoring WvW.

Like I said in my other post, I just want stuff to work, and work right. Many have suggested a great idea to solve this problem. Turn the original Tokens into vendor trash, make new tokens that will be delivered to all players that completed the Meta while updating the NPC to only accept the new tokens.
That idea solves everything and wont take too long I would hope. Best of luck to Anet on their fixes.

Good decision here. This was the only fair way to handle the obvious flub in their delivery plans. Now nobody has to worry about anything, we’ll get them when the problem is solved. More importantly, it puts real pressure on the devs to actually solve the problem because EVERYONE is waiting for their rewards (rather than just a subset of the player population).
While I realize the irritation it causes, this is the only logical thing to do.
Think of the alternative and the confusion it could create to determine who has tickets, tripped the meta, was rewarded (as those reward tickets get spent) etc.
I just wish ANET would come out and say this is a serious problem and is being treated as a/the top priority until fixed and every available qualified resource has been placed on it, etc. etc. In other words, acknowledge that a delay for the reward of 2 months of effort is a big deal that must be resolved. Also, is there any reason not to be transparent and explain what the issue is that caused the goof and why it is a bit of a problem to solve? Transparency is often less bitter medicine than imagination.
I certainly hope we will get our rewards soon. I would just like to add, as some other players have in this thread, that what bothers is not the delay, it’s the constant problems and bugs that come with every single patch, the general lack of testing and quality in the content releases (not the content itself).
Now, I don’t work in this industry and I don’t know how things work, but what I do know is that I have played other mmos and NEVER have I seen a game having as many problems with patches as GW2 does, and needing constant ‘repair’ after every update.
Also, it seems that some accounts get every major issues and bugs and others get none, or minor ones. I’m not sure what this is about, but there might be something worth looking into.
Or maybe you already know what the problems are, which is my guess, but it would be bad news for you to make it public.
Either way, this is appalling. I enjoy this game very much, but there is only so much a player can take before he decides to move on and spend his money elswhere.
PS: It might seem like an overreaction to most people for players to jump the gun like this, but that is only because it’s been building up for a long time now. Every additional bug will make the trigger shorter…

It’s a good thing we know how fast they were in resolving issues with those who didn’t get the crappy rewards from the first tournament. Maybe by the next one, everyone will finally have gotten the first tourney rewards and we’ll be that much closer to getting the second tourney rewards.
ETA on when this issue will be resolved? This seems like something that should be really easy to correct. Check to see if the WvW season 2 meta flag was flipped. If Yes, give reward.

To be fair that is most likely already the case, and yet it doesn’t work, so the issue is most likely deeper down.
That actually isn’t the case. It’s something else, because you’re awarded an achievement for the particular PLACE you earned.
Something with the places must not be reaching the proper flags to recognize and distribute the tickets.
Hopefully they can resolve the issue soon.
I have done meta and didn’t even got the achi for Season 2. Chest is also missing OFC.

WvW had two very very minor mentions. Its better than nothing though. Then I read down, and I see “BlargBlargBlargBlarg the Quaggan is now in the Gemstore” and stuff like that. It took up easily three times as much space as WvW patch did. And thats the issue.
And lordkrall, before you respond with some white knight speech again, let me say that I have experience with computer programming. Admittedly, its not the same engine GW2 uses, but I still have experience. And keeping track of a player’s server affiliation and getting them the correct rewards really isnt that hard unless there is a fundamental flaw in the code.

I very much want a skin. That is why I found this thread to begin with. However, I also have something called patience.

Most frustrating thing for me is on those “Patch Tuesdays”, you know the ones where WvW is near unplayable because of all those hotfixes? See those are for PVE, I would love to see how PVE people reacted if everything went well but they still just had to wait 3-4 days on ANET to implement a vendor to cash-in to…
They would go apekitten crazy, and riot….But WvW will always take a back-burner, because it is only a sideshow to PVE in Anet’s mind.
